These guys are crooks. They could NEVER get their service working for us. Their sales guy agreed to let us go from our contract since he didn't know how to fix it. It has been 14 months, and they continued charging us a monthly fee, and we were just charged a nearly $3,000 cancellation fee. This is $6,000 that they robbed from us for zero service. We have spent HOURS and DAYS over this year trying to deal with them, and we were always told to file a report that we had already filed and continued to filed. WORST. COMPANY. EVER. Megapath/Fusion services is a scam. They give you a contract stating a date when your contract expires but then when you go to cancel, they come back and say they made a mistake and its another year. We had 36 months contract with them and I am not even kidding, we called them almost every month for services. Internet was super slow and they charge extra for the voicemail. And I just read a review about returning their equipment scam and YES! they scammed us too. They sent us a return label and we sent it back but when I try to track it, it says couldn't locate the tracking #. And then They have billed us about $500 for equipment and we have no other option but to pay for it. Those who are even thinking of trying mega path service, Don't make a mistake that we made. Our organization recently switched to a Hosted VoIP system by MegaPath and we experienced a really smooth transition. I was nervous about switching to any service because the staff had previously had a really bad experience with VoIP. Our account rep, Dan Sullivan, answered all my questions right up front. He definitely used some sales tactics with me and bad-mouthed the competition a little bit. I overlooked this because the bottom line was that he was very straightforward about what MegaPath could do for our company, the costs, process, etc. Our Installation Process was managed by a highly organized person. I received detailed emails at every step of the process outlining what steps would happen, when and who would need to be involved. Everything went as anticipated. We then had a group training that was friendly and tailored to our company's tech level. The porting was smooth as well. No one ever noticed we had switched systems, except for the fact that the voice on the auto attendant was different. In our area, the dsl connection MegaPath provided is slow and a downgrade from what we had before. So I spoke with my account rep and we worked out a solution. Know that you can use whichever internet provider you choose with your VoIP phone system. You don't have to use MegaPath's. I find the team I'm working with here in the Mountain West to be knowledgeable, organized, responsive and friendly to work with. I would recommend them and their service to other companies in my area. read more

Dear MegaPATHETIC, You SUCK, and deserve less than half of one star. Let me count a few ways you have made my life a living hell as a business manager in the past 2-3 years: 1) Every paper bill I ever got from you arrived by mail either one day prior to the due date or AFTER. I had previously signed up for auto-pay and the amounts were unpredictable at best, so I went back to paper bills. Then, since your bills came to me ON or after the due date AND you started charging ME late fees because your billing department picks their collective noses until the bills are due....I went back to auto-pay. Now, every bill arrives a MAXIMUM of one day before you charge our corporate card. Many times it is within 2-3 hours, so we never even have time to review charges! Shouldn't all of these "practices" be ILLEGAL? They certainly are nowhere near average....far below!! MEGAPATHETIC! 2) Starting the fourth quarter of last year, I get notices of maintenance at least FIFTEEN times (yes, that means FIFTEEN DAYS of switches being flipped that could bring us down and there is NO ONE ON YOUR SUPPORT LINE WHO CAN FIX THEM!!!!!) per month. I have received at least THIRTY different maintenance notices this past month alone, and many of them are canceled/rescheduled. We have items on our CORPORATE network that need to be reachable 24x7, so this is NOT COOL! Ever heard of lumping some of these together into one Maintenance window and limiting Maintenance windows to twice per month as a MAXIMUM because other companies who pay you every month do IMPORTANT and VALUABLE work? Now you owe me some consulting dollars! WHAT on EARTH could be so wrong with your network that you have to do that much maintenance?! Let me guess....you fired the rest of your very knowledgeable Covad staff who made sure that everything was in tip-top shape and actually knew how to fix EVERY issue, and you replaced them with Megabots who don't even know how to color-code cables?! 3) You KILLED the smartest two companies I have ever worked with, Speakeasy and Covad by gobbling them up with your greedy, incompetent selves. Devouring these companies is the ONLY reason you are have customers, because they both ROCKED! They actually had SMART people with TOOLS to troubleshoot and FIX problems very quickly! They also understood the basic concept of SERVICE, something that you guys probably can't even spell. I was practically a cheerleader for Speakeasy and a major fan of Covad, but I HATE the sad excuse for a corporation that is MEGAPATHETIC. 4) Finally, I do not want to hear from anyone at Megapathetic who claims to "care". We are WAYYYYY past that, and no one designated "customer care" person can fix all of the IDIOTIC choices that you have made. I heard that Mega ditched Covad's diagnostic tools that were cutting edge and ensured network stability. I guess that should be a clue to everyone that you don't care what is best for customers! You also picked the absolutely WORST billing and service portal of all three companies, and your overall business practices are questionable at best. If you really want to help, print out ALL of these Yelp reviews and email them to EVERY person at director level or above and every member of your board. I feel like every time we have formally complained to someone at Megapath, something worse starts happening.....not sure if that is coincidence or something else...... If there was a 0 star review I would recommend that. And I'm being nice. I never felt ripped off like that from a so called legit and respectable company. It's enough to look at their billing to see how bad is their malpractice. We are a small business and they treat you like you are minimum a 10,000 people corporation. Unnecessary services, ten's of lines of unexplained charges, they don't keep their word, they don't follow up with what they've promised. This shouldn't be a legit business operation in USA 2017. The story is too long to tell here, why this didn't work, but my point isn't even in their incapability to provide good and reliable business - this is about how you treat your customers, how you charge them ( fairly or not) do you provide them with the right and adequate technology? with the right services, do you car about them? do you let them go when it's clear you don't provide them the service they are in need. Well, it appears that Yelp users have unanimously declared Megapath as an awful company. Just in case someone reads this thinking "hey, these people are just complainers. I'll give Megapath a shot." Just. Don't. Run away, save your breath, your energy, your sanity. Megapath was supposed to be a backup line at my law firm's new office. After choosing the service we wanted, Megapath told me that someone would be by to install the service in a few weeks. Fine. Getting closer to the install date, I received no fewer than 5 emails and 3 phone calls, each giving a conflicting window of time and date that the installation guy would be at our office. This should've been my first clue to run, but I'm in the office all day anyway, so the timing wasn't a big issue for me. Megapath installation person finally shows up. He seems confused and tells me that he can't complete the installation, someone else will have to come out at another time. No real explanation, but I dealt with it and said that's fine. For the next several weeks, I received multiple phone calls and emails per day, all from different Megapath people who had no idea what was going on. I kept being told another installation person would come, but then they didn't. After my umpteenth phone call regarding the time an installation person *should* show up, I told the guy I just want to cancel the whole thing. He said he would note my account but that I should also call a particular phone number in order to cancel. I call, tell someone we want to cancel, and assume the whole process is over with. Until I get a $300 bill for internet we never had. Billing department says we have to pay for it because I never cancelled the service. In fact, apparently you can't even cancel the service over the phone, it has to be done online. Um, what? So what was the number I called? Just a ploy so that Megapath can charge people for services that they never received? I'm in the process of waiting for a supervisor to call in hopes of getting this bill erased. I strongly regret signing a long term contract with MegaPath for my business. I wish I would have read these reviews prior to signing up. Their sales team is very professional and responsive, but that's where the good service ends. MegaPath's service offerings aren't all that impressive and their execution is terrible. Worst of all is their "voice portal." Probably the worst piece of software that I have ever used. Making simple changes to our voice system takes forever because the software is a complete joke. I can't wait for my contract to end so that I can switch to a competent service provider for my internet and phones. Stay away! read more

I am jumping on the bandwagon here in hopes that someone will read these reviews before signing up with Megapath. Run. Do not enter into any agreements. Stay away from Megapath services until they figure this out and are no longer stumbling along. The merger was "in progress" when I joined my new job. To manage our 5 phones (yes just 5) I need to log into three different websites, my former speakeasy, and two different Megapath sites (one for invoices and another for administrative use). We have two office locations that have two different networks but they are in close proximity of each other. We occasionally move an employee from one suite to the other. To move their phone requires nothing short of a miracle! The first time it took about two weeks and various transfers, repeating explanations and head slapping. Now I have to move it again. Sigh. So far I have talked to Megapath customer service that has told me that "we are not yet merged so you need to speak to your original provider" which is Speakeasy. I called Speakeasy and was told (poor guy on the other end, I think they get that the service sucks) "we've merged so you'll need to go back to Megapath" specifically sales...Sales? I asked for the number I was being transfered to and proceeded to wait with on the line. After apologizing multiple times and ensuring me that someone would call me back if I selected the 1 option for voicemail, he let me hold on my own. After 30 mins of holding I push option 1 to leave a voicemail that "should get a response in 24 hours". Unfortunately option 1 didn't do anything but keep me in the queue. The next day I call the number for "sales". It was a doctors office. So I tried Speakeasy again. This time a somewhat confused rep answered and said "oh this is simple we just need to do ____" whatever that simple thing is no one knows about it nor have I heard about it. She asked me to go to the phone and power it down, then check to make sure there was a dial tone. I returned to tell her that nothing changed but either she hung up on me or we were disconnected. Either way no one returned my call. Stellar customer service. We had a great rep when I started but with the merger she lost most of her ability to help us. We are now stuck in this contract but I'm seriously considering paying the fine to get out just to be rid of them. They make me want to swear. I have been a speakeasy customer for 7 years and I never had issues with them. On October I decided to cancel my subscription since my internet was getting slow and expensive with comparison with other providers. I got a phone call from them confirming that the service was canceled and an email later on. Yesterday, I received a mail from a collecting agency asking me to pay the yearly fee, plus a fee ($1361). I called right away the billing service of Megapath and they confirmed that my account was closed. However, she had no solution to provide but to call the collecting agency. I called the collecting agency as they recommended and I ended up being insulted by this unknown guy who called me by my first name, told me that my English sucks and if I don't want to pay my bill I should go back to my country. Unbelievable! I called Speakeasy again today and this time ended up talking to someone with a brain, who realized that they made mistake but could not do anything for at least 2-4 days (since it needs to be escalated to upper division). Today, I received already 15 phone calls from the collecting agency, the guy keeps insulting me when I pick up. Great service Megapath... you killed Speakeasy and on the top of that you are incompetent, plus you really try to make sure that you choose the worst of the worst partner to work with. The stinkfest continues! We have around 50 Mac's and iPhones at our school. One morning, 20 of the staff told me that they were unable to send or receive email. So I called Megapath tech support. The "technician" told me that we probably had our settings wrong and that it was an Apple problem. Hmmmm...what kind of mind looks at that problem and deduces that 20 people changed their settings, which had been working fine, overnight, on the same date? Avoid these guys! read more

It is a shame of a company, they told me they could deliver business ethernet services to my home and made me wait for 3 weeks. In the end of the 3 weeks, the technician was supposed to come and he did not show up and I decided to call to see what was going on. In the end they told me that they were not able to deliver the service to my apartment since it was more than 10,000 ft away from the central. Now, the thing is that they told me at first they could, and I lost a lot of valuable time waiting, do not even try to get into this company. read more

My company went 3 days without service and made no fewer than 16 "customer service" calls to try to "escalate" (their word) the priority level, all to no avail. Instead, we got one broken promise and bad excuse after another. I have wasted so many hours of my life trying to get the people at Megapath to do their jobs. The customer service people actually LIED to me on several occasions. I really miss Speakeasy. Megapath is an utter nightmare UPDATE: It seems that it's impossible to cancel the service. I have been trying to cancel the unreliable "business class" DSL for nearly two months. I have spent approximately 50 HOURS on the phone and email, first trying to get the service to function reliably, then simply trying to cancel the service. They finally agreed to waive the early termination fee after I explained to them about 10 times that I have been a Speakeasy customer since 2010, and therefore have already satisfied my end of the 12 month contract. Never, ever have I experienced such abysmal treatment at the hands of any organization. Megapath makes AT$T look like saints in heaven. Really, honestly, someone on this review page needs to make it their mission to mount a class-action lawsuit against Megapath. I would gladly participate, I just don't have the spare time to spearhead the offensive. But this is clearly a case of the failure of the free market to regulate itself. Extreme measures are warranted; Megapath needs to be shut down, if possible. At the very least, we all need to spread the word, so save future consumers from the utter hell of dealing with Megapath. read more

Megapath is the worst experience I have ever had. They basically shut my company down for 2 weeks sine they "lost" my order and never placed a provisioning order with the local phone company, who has a 10 day lead time. No amount of requested escalation helped. We had no data or voice service for over 2 weeks. When we requested additonal phones, it took over 3 weeks and we still dont have them. The sales rep does not return calls and this has been one of the worst nightmares of my professional life. PLEASE stay away from them, they are completely incompetent. read more

The new Megapath Portal is a disaster. The bigest problem being that important features have been dropped, namely the "domain transfer" feature which is critical for any of us who use Covad/Megapath name servers, private colo's, or any case where you have a non-Megapath domain registrar. This is critical missing functionality that was dropped without notice about 2 weeks ago during the new Portal release. The fact that they would drop a critical feature without notice (and continue to send me their bill) is an example of horrendous service and ill informed product management. I use this feature to transfer in domains from GoDaddy and then use Megapath's DNS management Portal to manage my fixed-IP traffic and MX records. I host the domains myself in a private colo. Without domain transfer, Megapath has no use to me whatsoever. Megapath's service has consistently downgraded since having commandeered Covad's customers. The new Portal is also difficult and slow to navigate, it re-directs you all over the place, it forces me to change my password daily, the new password rules are too strict and nearly impossible to find a compliant password string. Megapath: Please re-instate the old Portal!!! Also, if someone could explain to me why I should pay approximately 10% to 20% more for Megapath services than other vendors, when their service is no longer useful to me, without the "domain transfer" feature, I would like to hear it. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. Worst company I have ever had to deal with. I was a longtime Speakeasy customer and made it through the transitions with Megapath- nearly 12 years as a customer. In the "old days", customer service for Speakeasy was stellar- they were local and they could fix anything right away. Its very sad to now say that customer service with Megapath is anything but. Megapath wins the Worst Service Award. Since Megapath took over, things have continued to slide downhill. Over the past few years, I have had numerous service related issue that eventually get fixed, but I have to spend hours on the phone to do so. Billing has had numerous problems and when I call, nobody is ever able to just fix the issue. They create service tickets that make you feel like something is being done, but in reality nothing ever happens. I would like to point out that we have never changed our phone service- so I can never understand how they all of the sudden charge more or have mysterious additions to the phone bill. My final straw was the beginning of December when all of the sudden our phone system quit working in two of our locations. Nothing changed our end. Same phones, same routers - and in two locations, so I know it was a server problem. I called from my cell phone and spent nearly an hour on the phone with tech support. They couldn't figure anything out and said "lets create a service ticket". Ugh, I know what that meant... That same day, I started researching other VoiP carriers- looking at Comcast, Verizion, 8x8 and Ring Central. After doing my research I choose to move our service to Ring Central. I was able to open an account and have fully working service with temp numbers in less than an hour. I was able to provision all our phones myself and we were back up and running with working phone service with a few hours. I will givea little credit to Megapath for forwarding our main office number until it was ported over. I have now been with Ring Central for over a month and love them. Back to problems at Megapath: Billing. Service was cancelled on Dec 19th and I expected a credit for the billing cycle. Not only did they not issue a credit to my on-file credit card, they went ahead and billed me again for another full month of service. I have called in four times, and submitted a support ticket online. I even left a VM for a manager. No response. Yesterday, I disputed the charges with American Express. My worry is now they will send my account to collections and I will still have to deal with them... Save yourself a ton of pain and stay far away from this company. Update 2/11/14: I am still trying to stop the billing with MegaPath even though the service was cancelled two months ago. Their Tier 2 support even acknowledges that they are having billing problems. American Express is declining all further charges which is good, but now I am worried that MegaPath will send my account to collections and then I will have to spend untold hours dealing with that. I sometimes want to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they are just poorly organized, then they pull out the fine print on the contract and show a frightening efficiency at taking money they have not earned. After a very successful 5 year run with Covad, I was encouraged to upgrade to a faster MegaPath service for the same price. After 6 months of frustration, empty promises, outright lies, and limited internet availability, I cancelled. End result, 2 months of usable internet access that cost me over $5300 dollars. (Not a typo. Wish it was.) Whether inept or corrupt, it's clear that MegaPath is a predatory company. I strongly urge you to avoid doing business with them. read more

If I could give these guys negative stars I would. They have knocked out network out repeatedly since the beginning of the year due to incompetence. The first 2 times were because they said we hadn't paid our bill. We had the cleared checks to prove we had. It took them 2 days to turn it back on. Since they they can't seem to keep all the pairs up to give us our full network connection speed. Then this morning they decided to get rid of the 2 DNS servers we were provided when we signed up with no notice. No one was able to do anything on the network until I updated out DHCP server with public DNS servers and now everyone needs to renew their lease. Every time we have an issue it takes them at least a full day before anyone is dispatched on site. Then it usually takes several trips and lots of finger pointing between ATT, XO and Megapath. In the end we are Megapth's customer and we don't care whose fault it is. We are done. read more

I have had a DSL service with them for a number of years. I asked them to transfer to a new location. After a couple of months, they told me they could not complete the request. In the mean time, I was not able to use the old DSL because I cancelled the phone number at that address. I finally ordered a DSL from AT&T. AT&T installed it within a week at the new address. Megapath continued to bill me for the old DSL. When I asked the billing department about it, they said it would eventually be corrected and I would get a credit for one month because they were billing for a disconnected service.. I was charged an extra month because, when I FINALLY was able to get them to cancel it, there were still days left on the month of cancellation. They charge for the rest of the month even if service is cancelled with 29 days left that cannot be used. They don't prorate a charge when you cancel. I personally would never use this company again. read more

If I could put zero stars, I would..... This company is terrible. We requested a quote from them asking for a standard VOIP system. After receiving the quote, we signed up with them. After logging in to the new system, some of the features were not in there, such as auto attendant, hunt groups, etc. After calling them about these features, they told us there would extra charges for these features. We were going to have to pay an additional $50 per month more than what was quoted from the beginning. They did not tell us ahead of time about this. A different company about the same price includes all of these features in their package. Also, calling them on the phone is ridiculous. If you are going to depend on Megapath for Internet and/or phone service then you're in big trouble. Megapath cut off our services after it accidentally assigned someone else's account number to us. Whoops. I don't think it ever took less than 45 minutes on hold to reach someone in tech support. And, "support" is a vast overstatement. Nobody ever, ever, ever calls you back, and each time you have to call them -- waiting on hold forever -- you start from square one again. It took weeks to restore service. But, my next bill came right on time -- with no discount for the service I was not provided. Months later I still have not gotten a call back on that issue either. read more

Another formerly happy customer of Speakeasy, who has been kicked in the gut by Megapath. Finally, I decided to cancel my account with Speakeasy. I did everything correctly, and cancelled on May 4, 2011. They cheerfully confess to having $114 of my money which should be refunded to me. First they said they would refund it after the billing date of June 6. When that didn't happen, they said it takes "6 to 8 weeks." Eight weeks passed, then they told me (72 hours ago) that the refund would appear in my account within 72 hours. Of course, it hasn't. Surprised? They are just hoping I will get tired of the hassle and let them keep the money, even though they agree they owe it to me. What used to be a great company is now a theft factory. Megapath was t-1 was a terrible business decision. We switched from the worst DSL possible to a t1 line from megapath. Believe it or not, the 384dsl connection worked better than the 1.5 t1. Ping was horrible. We could not make skype or VOIP calls and got charge $2k for cancelling the contract as they would assume no liability for the poor quality of the lines. read more

I had signed up originally with an internet provider that was recently bought by Megapath. Not only does Megapath's customer service absolutely suck (they took 5 days to come and look at my network so my business had no internet for 5 days), but they ended up changing their service and never notified me. My service has been interrupted several times and I have to chase after them to get them to answer any calls or come and check it out. Now my service sucks so I am moving to Sonic which has faster internet with phone and is cheaper too. Worst experience with a company that I have ever had! read more

One of the worst, most incompetent companies I've ever tried to work with. There was a billing problem with my Speakeasy email account (the only service they were providing me.) I was going to let it lapse, but the email address stayed live for about a year. They billed me for that year last week. I decided I wanted to keep the address and tried to pay the bill. Basically, they wouldn't let me. The customer portal basically doesn't work (it almost seemed designed to not work), and the three or four people I tried talking to or emailing with were absolutely incompetent. I'm not surprised to see that more than 70 people have rated them, with nearly all ratings being one star. Avoid at all costs. read more

It's difficult to put into words how amazingly incompetent this company is. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH MEGAPATH. Other reviewers here have written many words here which I agree wholeheartedly with, so I will instead provide our tale as a precautionary warning to others. We have a full PBX here in the office. We ordered a T1 just for voice. The installation process was a disaster - Megapath no-showed for the initial install, sent a guy when the equipment was never sent first, and finally just sent the equipment and had our reseller attempt to install it. To make matters worse, it took three tries to get our numbers. The numbers they had assigned originally were in the wrong area code. Then they provided numbers but it turned out none of them were the ones they actually provisioned. Finally we did get the actual numbers, but to this day we still can't call a set of them due to a routing problem on their end which they've never resolved. After this occured, they have had multiple outages of over day each, some affecting all customers (good luck getting their support on the phone just to get system status - the hold time is 1 hour) while others affected just us. They sent a tech out who told us we're not the only ones having huge problems as the merger has been a disaster. He put into the case notes that our downtime was caused by defective T1 equipment they had sent us and noted that it will need to be replaced ASAP. Fast forward a month before after many calls and e-mails, we were finally able to get a new T1 modem. In the meantime, we had two days of additional downtime and of course, the T1 modem was completely unprogrammed despite Megapath claiming we should be able to just plug it in. These are all ridiculous problems to have that put consumer VOIP to shame, especially given we pay a thousand a month for this service. Our Vonage backup lines have been more reliable. Finally, this problem appears to go straight to the top. Like many of you, we were former Speakeasy customers who assumed the great customer focused culture would carry over. It didn't. Don't expect any help from Megapath - we escalated up through our sales person, their management, and any contact we could find, even going so far as to send letters to the former Speakeasy VP and their CEO. Their response has been dead silence. Incredibly, they have even had the gall to try to get out of their own SLA of 99.999% availability despite clearly having network-wide downtime that exceeded it. The only way we've been able to get them to have a dialog with us is when we started withholding payment. Learn from our mistake and avoid Megapath like the plague. I signed up with Speakeasy in 1998. So, 14 years. They were more expensive than the competition, but the tech support and customer service were excellent. There's nothing better than being in the middle of a crisis and calling the support line and getting someone who speaks English natively who knows their stuff inside and out. You almost can't put a price on that. Now that Speakeasy has been swallowed by Megapath, all that has gone to the dogs. When you call, you get some drone in India who doesn't understand English and also has no idea what they're doing and will lie to your face until you demand they escalate your issue back to former Speakeasy staff in North America. Three days ago the same geniuses at Megapath switched on some incredibly irritating caching feature on their DNS servers that require reloading every new URL you visit for the page to render, and are causing longer-running page loads like kayak.com and some of my own served pages to hang and not render at all. I called tech support to address it, and they lied and said they do no caching of any kind. Hmm, then why does the same behavior not happen when I use my mobile hotspot instead? A*holes. If anyone has an ISP that *is* as good as Speakeasy *was*, please share so everyone posting here can switch post-haste. read more

Horrible, horrible service. Incredibly incompetent people - botched transfers, botched installations, errors in billing, terrible communications, dreadful, uncaring, and non-responsive account reps... Do not, under any circumstances, use this company for anything. Ever. I wish I had seen the reviews before we transferred service - and I am SO relieved that I had nothing to do with picking these people as our providers.
