My website and business is being held hostage by ARVIXE, who started a server update on MAY 2nd, and was supposed to end on JUNE 2nd. During this time, NO CHANGES or UPDATES are allowed. Now the freeze has been extended to through JUNE 17, at least. Today, June 2nd, my website is fully down. My business is in serious trouble. My clients are migrating to other vendors. This company was fine in 2013 and early 2014. I didn't use them much after that, and not at all in 2016, so I was pretty sure I was going to cancel my service before the annual due date on 12/3/16, and on 11/27/16, I did, and I received an immediate reply via email saying they would cancel my account and hoped to do business with me again someday. I also noticed when cancelling that they had already billed me 10 days earlier. I was not worried because they had sent me an email confirming my cancellation and I was sure they would be refunding my card in the next month or two (they were usually kind of slow and didn't always get things right on the first try, but overall, I was satisfied with them. Then, on March 3rd, I asked my wife if she had seen the refund yet, and she couldn't remember, so I signed up for online service for my credit card just so I could check, and I discovered that Arvixe had still not refunded my $840! I communicated with them many times over the next 10 days and they were always evasive and would never acknowledge that I had cancelled previously. They kept pretending that I was cancelling for the first time, and would not refund my money. I opened a dispute with my credit card company, but they could not get a response from anyone at Arvixe. I went back into the Arvixe system to delete my credit card information so that they could not bill me again, which seemed pretty likely given that they would not accept that I had cancelled, but their system wouldn't let me delete my card info, so I had to enter an expired card, and I'm glad a I did because after reading the reviews here, I can see that they would indeed have continued billing me and pretending that I had not cancelled. read more

My last call to them resulted in 2 hours and 40 minutes, being placed on hold 9 times.....and my situation is still not solved.Our website is still down and they are costing us sales. When you call you're lucky to get anyone to answer the phone in under 30 minutes, hold time on "live chat" is not much better and when you go to the website and email your ticket number no one emails back... and the cycle starts all over again.If you ask to receive an email address they will not give it to you. My website is down for almost a week now, they have been ignoring my tickets, surprisingly when my hosting expired they asked me to renew it so they can continue working on the issue. That was 2 days ago, after I paid I got no news from them and my website is still down, still not update on my ticket. Whenever I contact them via live chat, I always get the same copypaste/canned/automatic answer: "I have updated the ticket notes with all urgency and escalated the ticket. One of our admins will further investigate and notify you via email." (the ticket is already in advance support, I guess they're planning to send it to God) Anyways, when I asked for a refund, they told me that "your account is not eligible for refund". These are the most incompetent people I have ever been exposed to. Arvixe used to be staffed my people who cared and spoke English. You could call them and get your issue resolved on the spot. Since being bought by an Indian company, they can't tie their own shoes. I went from a shared resource to a virtual private server, a process that should take a few minutes. An ENITRE MONTH LATER I still could not send nor receive emails. The DNS entries were incorrect. I TOLD THEM the DNS entries are incorrect. Fast forward a couple of months and I start being unable to send and receive again. I spent dozens of hours the first time and am well on my way to doing so again, telling (typing, all communication is either though email or chat, and you can't connect with the idiot "Senior Admins" except through email) their incompetent support staff that the problem is on their end, that I haven't changed anything. Having a really disappointing experience with Arvixe. When I signed up, reviews were favorable, but in the last year the quality of service has been dropping. I'm having a lot of downtime with the site and I've had an unresolved trouble ticket with a server side error message that takes days to get a response for. It's been over a week and they claim it's be fixed, but it hasn't. If you're considering doing business with them, take a moment to read the reviews, my experience is inline with the current level of quality provided by the company. If I could give this so-called "company" a -5 stars, I would! This has by far been my worst experience with a company, ever. All they want is your money and there is no way to contact anyone if they make an error in billing or you want to cancel services. After many attempts of trying to get a refund, Arvixe finally stated that they processed my refund, but I never received it and they continued to change my credit card. When I called my bank to dispute the continuing credit card charges, they couldn't get a hold of anyone from Arvixe - Arvixe never responded to the dispute and I had to cancel my credit card. There was a time when Arvixe was great (thus the positive reviews of years ago), and I moved all of my websites to their platform, but after they were bought out things changed dramatically to the point where I moved everything away from them. I wrote my story about the problems they gave me in another place, but there is another issue I will address at this point. Five days ago I received an email invoice from them telling me that they were going to charge me for another year. I wrote them back and explained that I no longer used their service so the invoice can be cancelled. I had previously allowed them to take my hosting charges from Paypal and despite my email they took my money anyway. I was able to get someone on chat and they were unapologetic. It was explained to me that they did not refund money for "old accounts" (this contact was literally hours after my money was taken) and my only option was to log into my portal and make the request there. If accepted, I would receive credit, not a refund. Fortunately, Paypal returned my money and I guess they will deal with Arvixe. So if you decide to be drawn in the low monthly charge (the phrase "you get what you pay for" applies here) then understand that there could be grief down the road. My recommendation is that you look through reviews to find a company that does not have experiences such as mine, and they despite what you end up choosing, the company could be eventually bought out and things could turn sour (this was my second experience of this happening). read more

I cannot agree more with the negative descriptions here. I have been with them for 6+ years. They used to be great, but they eliminated their phone customer service awhile back. Now it is strictly via chat. I need some help from them and their chat IS NOT EVEN WORKING. I am pretty tech savvy and have tried everything - clearing the cookies in my browser, ensuring pop up windows work, restarting the browser, restarting the computer. I am at a dead end - I cannot contact ANYONE there for help. My only choice is to leave them. I recommend you ALL avoid them. My experience was exactly the same as everyone else here. Arvixe was helpful initially so they could get your business, but they quickly turn sour and try to squeeze every dollar out of you. I was charged for a subscription renewal, even though I had already opted to cancel my service with Arvixe. I contacted customer service, and they took at least a week to respond to me every time I sent them a message. The conversation spanned multiple months because of this. Arvixe used to have great service before being bought by EIG. Since then, it's become the worst in the industry. It now take 5 - 30 minutes to chat with someone (you can't even open your own tickets any more) and then each of their replies takes a minimum of 5 minutes. And do these chat people know anything? No. Total time to open a ticket: 30 minutes. But better yet? Your tickets will get ignored for days or months. I have one ticket that's been open for almost 6 months and was causing my to be unable to send email. And even worse, when I went to transfer my domain to another company, they purposefully blocked it to try to keep me from leaving their service. I have 5 sites hosted through them, from e-commerce to community to music sites. The e-commerce site SSL certificate expired and I contacted them in the morning. They logged a "normal priority" ticket and it sat there untouched ALL DAY. I contacted them in the evening to resolve it, and the guy doesn't give 2 shits about me and my sites. My experience with Arvixe was a nightmare. I purchased a personal hosting plan with free domain name. The domain name wasn't actually free, it turns out. The hosting was "pending" for seven days before I put in a ticket to find out why it was taking so long to set up when it's supposed to be automatic. Five days after submitting the ticket I got a response saying the hosting was ready to be used. I tried to connect via FTP client but it wouldn't connect. I made sure all the login info was correct, and still nothing. After much hissing and gnashing of teeth, I decided that I'd rather pay more and return to my previous hosting company than deal with Arvixe and their five-day ticket times. So I hit "cancel" for my hosting. I received an e-mail stating that the "domain protection fee" (whatever that is; no other place I've used has charged such a thing and there was no "protection" charge in my original receipt) was non-refundable. Wasn't happy, but I can endure a $10 loss. Told them to cancel the hosting. They responded that the domain protection fee is non-refundable. I told them to cancel the hosting. This went back and forth for over two weeks with me clearly stating I wanted to cancel the hosting, and them rambling on about domain names and protection fees. They finally cancelled the hosting and refunded my money. Most of it, anyway. In the end, they kept a full $20 for their "domain name protection fee" charge. I was expecting them to keep $10, but they kept double that. I was intentionally mislead in regards to how much was actually going to be non-refundable. I can't say how Arvixe is as a web host since I was never able to use the hosting I purchased. I can say that getting a refund is a stressful nightmare. And this company promises a full refund within 60 days. Lies. Arvixe is no better than scammers in my mind. read more

They promise a 99.9% up time but in reality I would have to say it is closer to 80% If one tries to call customer support they first pretend to not know about the problem.Then you will find yourself on hold for about an hour.Then the clueless rep comes back with an attitude and tells you that nothing can be done. The said thing is that it is a major pain to change hosts and I think they know this. The only reasons I chose them is because Bluehost charges exorbitant prices when you renew your account. This is a year in review for Arvixe. I started using their service last year and actually got it for free by signing up with a company that did my incorporation paperwork for my business. In the beginning they were very helpful (End of 2014). And they were great. Yes, I was on a shared server with others and the speed could have been better, but free is free. Downtime really wasn't a problem, maybe an hour a week. Tech support "was" superb, my problems were fixed quickly. Now, as for the past two months starting in Sept 2015, every night it would be down for 1 to 2 hours. (Checked using siteuptime). Along with that support went downhill. Just getting some help would take hours. I decided to go with another company with a closer server and couldn't be happier. Arvixe use to be good, however now that is not the case. I would have gave them 4 stars two months ago, but the only reason I am giving them 2 was because the service was free... My suggestion, look elsewhere. Will auto renew (and auto charge you) one year after you have cancelled your account I have cancelled my Arvixe account in 2016 Nov. And then one year later this year (2017) they sent me a $0 invoice for domain renewal. A few days later sent me another email saying the domain has expired and no longer available. Then, the next day, they just charged my credit card $9.95 and emailed me saying the domain has been renewed. Whtat kind of company still keep your credit card info and auto renew on after you have cancelled your account??? I thought it is a mistake and they will refund me so I talked to their online support. To my shocking, the support guy admittedly saying my account has been cancelled but the auto renew is still on and they can't refund me. Stay away from this hosting.... read more

I've had lackluster support in integrating forms into my hosted site. The best option actually became figuring out things myself without their help. They have had certificates expire on crucial control panels for extended periods (this is a web hosting company, mind you), and they literally recommended me to make critical logins & changes via cleartext while they worked on the issue for days. I've personally experienced better & willing support through competitor hosting services. Recently I've also experienced outages on hosting too. There are frequent down times (our site and mail have been down for a week as of this posting) and customer support is virtually non-existent. After 6 years with them, we have to scramble to find another, more reliable web host. It's a shame to see a decent company run into the ground.
