The atmosphere was lively and fun, with great music and speakers that really energized the space. It was pretty crowded when I visited on a Saturday night, but the experience was definitely worth it. I ordered the signature shaved ice topped with taro, condensed milk, ice cream, mochi, and rice cake. The flavors were enjoyable overall, but for my taste, there was a bit too much rice cake, and it didn't soak up the flavors as well as I'd hoped but I would definitely go again and try different flavors!
Taste: 4/5 pretty good. I initially found it lacking in flavor, but it really grew on me. The shaved ice combined with the herbal jelly gave a faint sweet taste that was very satisfying. The taro balls also had a great texture. Cost: 2/5. I understand that the menu says 10 taro balls, but when the picture is filled with them, and you only get 9, the dessert looks underwhelming. It was fun to try, but I won't be paying that much again for this item. Can't speak on service because I got this on uber eats!
Food: 4.00/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3/5 I enjoy the icy grass jelly special a lot, because it's a refreshing desert that isn't too sweat at all, and I like the creaminess the cream packet adds to it. The taro balls are the best texture and taste delicious without any particularly large flavor. The fruit tea boba is pretty solid, I've never had milk tea here before though. Bubble waffles could improve, tube gotten the red bean matcha a couple times and I think it could be sweater. Service is typically a little slow, nothing terrible, but the people do not seem the happiest to be there. Ambiance is very open dialogue, many lively discussions happening and very causal, but space is small and I frequently have trouble finding seating and end up taking my stuff to go. It's very close to the public parking lot behind Blanchard's and street parking, so pretty forgiving as a greater Boston area for drivers.
This place is a vibe! It's basically like a dessert restaurant or a dessert café. Devoted entirely to dessert from Taiwan that likely gives people a taste of home, for that amazing nostalgia factor. For my boyfriend and I it was a new experience. We got this volcano taro dessert that was fire. It took me back to my childhood when my dad would pour condensed milk on fresh snow as a treat for us. This volcano ice has the works- ice cream, caramel, pudding (like flan), condensed milk, boba, taro... just so many textures and flavors. This is a great place to come and hang out with friends on a hot day.
Walked in and was immediately bombarded by 2 girls selling us on downloading and ordering through their Hungry Panda app. There was a free gift and my kids wanted it so we did it, lol. Hot Grass Jelly Soup Signature - This doesn't look very good but my wife enjoyed it. I thought it was okay, kind of bland, not that sweet. Wished we got the red bean instead. Chocolate waffle - Completely missed that they had a chocolate CHIP version which may have been better. However, the waffle was overcooked. Place is decent and the options seem good, so we may come back. Its so conveniently located right in the middle of the allston food scene where street meter parking is abundant (but not easy to get). The dining area is clean and decor is modern and pleasing. Staff was friendly in answering questions.
Meet Fresh is a Taiwanese dessert shop tucked right in Packard's Corner, offering a wide variety of hot and cold dessert bowls. When we went, staff interaction was pretty minimal -- they were mainly focused on preparing the orders, which was fine since it gave me time to browse the large menu. One thing that threw me off was the odd smell when we walked in; kind of like body odor, but could've just been someone in the shop, so I won't judge too harshly on that. We got the Thai Tea Tofu Pudding and the Signature Grass Jelly. The grass jelly bowl was decent overall -- the jelly itself was good, but the shaved ice didn't really add much. The Thai Tea Tofu Pudding, unfortunately, was a miss. Even though we were only 5 minutes from home, it completely melted by the time we got there. The Thai tea tasted like watered-down powder, and the tofu didn't really have any flavor -- just a block of silken tofu with not much going on. The red bean balls were the highlight, but not enough to save it. Pretty disappointing first experience. Might give it another shot in the future, but only to try something different.
Interesting menu! I was curious about crystal mochi - it is not like mochi at all; it has more of a jelly texture with red bean paste filling. It was good but I prefer mochi. Overall, the shaved ice was yummy. Ambiance was nice. I sat next to a sunny window that offset the coldness of the shaved ice.
Nice spot for shaved ice condensed milk mochi, i think the only thing that would elevate it even more is have more fruit add ons or any fruit add ons for the shaved ice items. It was still yummy, flavor soaks down so when you get to the bottom of the bowl there's a lot of flavor at the bottom and in the middle of the ice mound. The service was quick get a buzzer, and pick it up when the staff is done making your plate. We shared a large and it was definitely a lot haha. Had different types of mochi around the shaved ice. I believe we got the Q mochi milk shaved ice. I can't find my picture of it but if i find it I'll upload! Alotta folks from the dinners around the area stopped in after. Another couple that sat next to us earlier for dinner also showed up there! Does have bathrooms and plenty of seating space.
Wasn't too sweet and a nice little dessert. I don't say this often but I kind of wish it was a little sweeter. First time not getting the shaved ice and wasn't dissatisfied. I still prefer the shaved ice but this is a good alternative if you want something less filling. I really like their Mochis as it had a the perfect chew. I will try the taro one bowl next time. Location wasn't too busy for a 7pm on a Friday.
Great place to go after grabbing a spicy Szechuan meal! Got the Pudding & Q Mochi Milk Shaved Ice, ordered a large because it was only $1 extra but it was HUGE (we shared between two people and struggled to finish it). The toppings were pretty good overall, but if I were to be picky, I would have liked to swap out the almond pudding and regular mochi (a lil tasteless)
A no frills dessert place. Ambiance was decent and noise was an acceptable level. A nice place to go after eating at nearby restaurants. I would order a medium next time as we couldn't finish the large after a meal at mountain house.
Recommended by a couple coworkers for their milk tea and shaved ice so finally gave it a try. Milk tea reminds me of the hk milk tea. Love!! The brown sugar shaved ice was soo good and refreshing. We got a large for two to share and it was huge! I just hoped for more toppings on it. In the end, we were left with just large amounts of shaved ice left. I would come back!
Really enjoyed my shaved ice here! The taro toppings went along with the vanilla flavored ice cream very well. The prices are reasonable and the service is great! Would highly recommend!
Amazing Taiwanese dessert spot with ample seating and great ambiance. Taro & sweet potato balls are to die for & the ice under the grass jelly was shaved so finely. Unfortunately I've been to a Meet Fresh at a different location where the quality was not up to par but this location is amazing & you won't regret it!! read more
After taking almost 3 years, MeetFresh has finally opened to the delight of every Asian dessert fan in Boston. The icy taro ball signature and icy grass jelly signature are generously loaded with red beans, boba, shaved ice, and taro balls. You could probably finish it by yourself but it's definitely something you can split with someone else. The Miss You Drink sounds interesting but it's basically the red bean soup with grass jelly in a cup form. It's mildly sweet and tastes good but nowhere near as alluring as the name suggests. The best bit of advice for getting service here (while the hype is still alive) is to come before opening time to beat the crowds because the line can get as long as the line in the supermarket before a snowstorm. I'm from California and I know Meet Fresh is a hugely popular Taiwanese dessert chain. However, this location fell short of its mark. Shaved Ice - all the toppings were put at the bottom of the cup and shaved ice was poured on top. This meant we had to eat spoonfuls of ice before reaching any toppings. "Hot" red bean soup - the soup was lukewarm and we had two large chunks of taro which were difficult to eat. The toppings of taro balls are underwhelming to the American palate, since it's very mild and not sweet at all. Not all was a miss though - the sesame rice balls (known as "Tang Yuan") were absolutely delicious. These are balls of rice filled with a creamy sesame paste filling. If you're expecting sweeter desserts or you're non-Taiwanese, try their sesame rice balls, or wait for their seasonal summer shaved ice items. (Perhaps the missteps could be attributed to training and staffing issues as they deal with long lines? If they work out all the kinks, they could become a mainstay of Allston's Koreatown and attract an even bigger Asian demographic.) read more

First time trying Meet Fresh & taiwanese shaved ice. Overall it was good. We got the large for 3 people and it was more than plenty. I liked the toppings and the tapioca was perfect. However when we came it seemed like the AC wasn't on or strong enough (it was a hot day) and the place felt stuffy. read more
Finally got to try meet fresh!! I was so excited that they finally opened and it definitely did not disappoint. The store front is right in the middle of Allston so very accessible! Their store has a decent amount of seating so great if you want to sit in, relax and enjoy your dessert. The taro ball signature was nice sweet but not too sweet. The mochi was delicious, very nicely chewy and the taro had a nice creamy texture. The ice below was refreshing. The only thing that was a bit off was that all the sugar was on the bottom so some parts seemed a little bland while the bottom was more sweet. As for the grass jelly signature that was really delicious. The sweetness level was balanced through the entire dessert. The mochi was nice and chewy and the grass jelly provided a balanced and refreshing taste. Definitely a great place to stop by after dinner! read more

I've been waiting for Meet Fresh to open for years and it finally happened! Located in a busy intersection of Allston, this location is always packed even in the middle of the week. There's a variety of soup desserts but we ended up with the double taro signature bowl. It consists of taro balls, taro paste, ice cream, shaved ice, and herbal jelly. It was all very delicious - especially the warm taro balls which complemented everything so well. A little pricey for the size though which bumps this down a star for me. read more

I came here on a hot day and ordered the medium size for Pudding & Q mochi milk shaved ice. Even though it was a medium, sharing it between two people was more than enough. The ice had flavor and tasted like it was incorporated with condensed milk. I felt like the caramel pudding was lacking in flavor compared to the almond pudding. The Q mochi was my favorite topping as it was packed with brown sugar flavor and was just yummy paired with the shaved ice. I would come back here to try their other stuff! read more

I went to Meet Fresh for an Asian dessert and got the black sugar boba shaved iced with mini taro balls instead of red bean. It had caramel pudding, black sugar boba, vanilla ice cream, and I think some grass jelly. The taro balls made it even better. It was so good and I like how the ice was sweet and had a lot of flavor. Would definitely come back to try some other desserts! read more

Came here on a Sunday around 6pm and it wasn't as busy as the post-dinner rush. We were able to find a table quickly. For two of us, we got the Icy Taro Ball Signature. I also ordered a Fluffy Green Tea with Boba for myself. Both came out relatively quickly. The texture of the small balls were perfectly chewy and the whole thing was a moderate amount of sweetness. Great desserts! I was visiting from out of town, but I would love to go again if I had the chance. Staff were very friendly and the place was clean and well kept. The only downside is that the neighborhood looks very old, dead and little dangerous. If you're planning on visiting here, I highly recommend taking uber/lyft there, instead of taking the public transportation. read more
I usually not have a sweet tooth for dessert but, I have to post this place. The grass jelly signature has the perfect balance of sweetness from cream along with the shaved ice at the bottom. The taro balls have a chewy texture, and the grass jelly itself is silky. I highly recommend this place to anyone! read more

Quaint environment with an extensive menu. There was a lot of people so it took maybe like 10 mins to stalk a table for 5. We ordered the icy grass jelly signature which has taro balls, grass jelly shaved ice and grass jelly. The grass jelly was fresh and it wasn't too sweet. It's very refreshing. We also got the mango and passion fruit green tea with lychee topping. There's no option to adjust the sugar and we asked if it was sweet, they said no ... which was a lie, we couldn't drink it and had to dilute it down at home. The last item ordered was pudding & Q Mochi milk shaved ice. That included almond pudding, caramel pudding, mini q, q Mochi, melon jelly and ice cream. It wasn't too bad, the best thing was the almond pudding. Overall would definitely come back and try other items. read more

Came back here a second time and tried their boba! Highly recommend. The boba is smaller than other places but super soft, chewy and sweet. The milk tea is strong! The staff were super helpful in recommending drinks and food options. It's bustling on a Friday night and pretty loud. read more
Really liked the vibe of this place. We decided to stop in because walking by, it looked packed on the inside. We didn't order any of the specialty desserts (shaved ice or grass jelly) but instead just got two bubble teas: "fluffy" green tea (topped with cheese foam) and the classic milk boba tea. Yesterday was my third time coming to this place and let me just say it exceeded my expectations. The past few times I would've rated it maybe a 3.5 out of five because the ice was not soft and felt very crunchy/not smooth. However yesterday the ice was so soft and it had such a great flavor; I was really impressed. I really like the atmosphere within the store. It really reminds me of Asia!! Sometimes I have to come here. It's been pretty full however, it's never been too difficult to snag a table if you just wait a few minutes. My favorite dish is definitely the signature grass jelly-- it tastes soooo good with the coffee creamer they give you I highly recommend it!!!! read more

I like coming here because it serves a different type of dessert. We got the ice jelly with the riceballs, boba, and taro toppings. We added icecream and taro balls because we like those. It was a good portion for three people. Also: the ice and jelly go really well together. read more

I was really looking forward to trying this place, but overall, just had a very okay experience. The dessert was pretty decent, but the lack of flexibility in their menu is a nightmare. Why can't you substitute same value toppings within a combo if every combo has an issue? read more

Finally able to check this place out now that they're opened! The place is well air-conditioned (a plus during the hot summer) with good seating options. They have a long counter next to the register with red lanterns that remind you of the tradition Taiwan streets. Just order your drinks and food at the register, receive a pager to buzz you when your order's ready, and find a spot to chill and enjoy the yummy drinks/bowls. read more

Love it!!! I've always wanted a place like this to open up in the Boston area. I was indifferent of the ice cream and taro paste but the mochi texture of the taro starch stuff in there was delicious, the ice, herbal jelly and cream all went well together. (Not overly sweet and not plain flavoring) Noticed it was pretty busy when I went on a Friday night. I would definitely come back to try more items off the menu! It did not disappoint :) read more

Like many others, I have literally waited YEARS for this place to open. I arrived maybe 10 minutes afer they opened at 1pm on a Sunday and the line was out the door! It did take a little long to receive two drinks and a dessert, but it was understandable since the place was pretty packed and just starting out. I highly recommend the Mini Q & Black Sugar Boba Fresh Milk! It's my absolute favorite. read more

don't come here. we ordered the hot grass jelly soup and we received a bowl of lukewarm soup w 2 tiny taro balls and barely any other toppings. for $10 ??? when I went up to ask for some more toppings they refused saying that that was the normal topping portion size. save your time and money ! read more

Went at apx 2 pm on Friday. Lots of seating was available. I have had saved ice elsewhere and their texture is different but still ok. It felt like little ice pellets, not shaved ice as I have had at other places. I enjoy taro a lot so I had their Icy Taro Ball Signature. I was not disappointed in the taro. The tapioca pearls were small but ok. I would not get them again. They have a small sign about bussing the tables yourself. Be sure not to miss it or they may raise their voice at you like rhey did to me. It was a very awkward moment as I was actully going to ask where I could leave my tray and bowl. read more
