Most of the reviews here are negative because of the service, but with the self-serve kiosk we didn't need to wait long at all. Their price range is between mid-priced to expensive. Besides the take-home bottle drinks, they're around the same price as any other boba shop. First, I want to point out that many of the negative reviews seem to be about slow service rather than drink quality. The drinks and the employees are great! I absolutely love the Crème Brûlée Milk Tea--it's perfectly creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness. It's always been my go-to drink. The Matcha Latte with Crème Brûlée is also good (not a fan of Adzuki topping that comes with it). Today, I tried the Matcha Latte with Panna Cotta, and it was delicious! I'd definitely get it again. Pro tip: don't mix the content so you can get the perfect balance of sweetness. While there can be a bit of a wait, I think it's worth it. I walked past this place and immediately wanted to try it because of the cute bottles, and I saw a few recommended drinks on Yelp so I ordered the strawberry panna cotta and also the matcha adzuki bean with creme brulee, and both were really good! The panna cotta was soft and mixed in with the strawberry, and the adzuki beans in the matcha weren't too hard and went really well with the matcha. I feel like the cream in the matcha drink was a little intense and overshadowed the matcha a little bit, but if you like your drink more sweet this is a good option. My first time trying Machi Machi was when I was in the Tangram Mall in Flushing, NY & loved their drinks! Very happy that Machi Machi is now in Allston. We popped in here after lunch & ordered two drinks. They have an ordering kiosk in the corner where you can order drinks. Typically, the staff here does not take orders at the counter and are never actually at the front counter either unless they've finished making your drink. They only come out to the counter to tell you your drink is ready then they disappear again lol but it's okie. We ordered the Strawberry Milk W. Panna Cotta & Grapefruit Cheese Foam Mango Smoothie. I think my drink, grapefruit cheese foam mango smoothie, was supposed to be in a regular cup though and not the bottle cup but not sure. Anyways, both drinks were pretty good. We waited maybe 20 minutes in line just to place our order. Once we did place our order, it was pretty fast though. The inside is pretty sparsely furnished, so it's more geared to be a takeout place. We got a warm creme brulee tea with taro balls. It really hit the spot. The sweetness was perfect (they didn't let us adjust it). The taro balls were really unique and I loved them. This is one of those bubble tea shops where you can tell they actually care about how their tea tastes! On top of that, the pearls are also cooked very well. They open each day until they sell out so I would recommend stopping by during the day or in the early evening because the line outside can get pretty long. I tried their creme brulee milk tea (medium $7.05) with tapioca pearls ($1). With tax and before tip the total was close to $9. The price is quite expensive (remember those days when a bubble milk tea was $3???) but I think it is worth it for a drink where you can actually taste the tea. I'd much rather pay $9 here than $6 at Gong Cha for a cup of astringent sugar water. I was one of the last customers on a Sunday night and unfortunately did not get to try their taro balls. Their tapioca pearls were perfect, though-- cooked perfectly chewy with a tasty brown sugar flavor. The tea flavor in the milk tea was very fragrant without being bitter. I also liked how they torched the creme brulee at the top which added even more roasty, caramelized flavor. It looks like they are setting up an ordering kiosk but it was not available yet when I visited. A fantastic new boba shop! We came here on a Saturday afternoon and the line was out the door. We waited about 20 minutes outside to order and then another 10-15 minutes after we ordered for our drinks. We got the crème brûlée milk tea with taro balls. It was delicious! The taro balls were the star of the show- like boba but softer, chewier and had chunks of taro in it. The milk tea was strong and flavorful, and the crème brûlée flavor added a nice sweet touch. LOCATION: Easy to spot in a corner on Harvard Ave, parking is hard to find so best times to visit would be late weekday nights. The shop itself is very small with no seating, and no bathrooms. DRINKS: We ordered the orange green tea and grapefruit. Both were great and would definitely get it again. The drinks were pretty pricey for what it was though and could have gotten the same drinks or similar at another shop at a lower price point. WAIT: Knocking down stars because of the wait time. The machi bubble tea was very low tier. Reminds me of onezo milk tea but even more taste of creamer. I took two sips and couldn't drink it anymore. The boba was stiff in texture like it was undercooked. Super sticky. Hated it. I understand there were a lot of customers, but wait time for drinks was kinda long. Also, with the amount of space they have compared to the amount of customers piling in, you'd think they'd have like a person limit for Covid. But it was like crabs in a tank at the supermarket. Another amazing boba place on Harvard Ave right next to Union. I came here early afternoon and it was already starting to get super busy. It's a small storefront with no tables. I waited in line for ~20 minutes just to get to the machine to order. I ordered a few drinks and the text I got said it would take about an hour wait, which I thought was a bit crazy, but the line kept getting longer. I waited about another ~20 minutes for my drinks before I got a text saying my drinks were ready. I tried the cream cheese foam black milk tea with boba, which ended up being a creme brulee cheese topping. The boba had a nice qq texture to it and the cheese foam was creamy. The milk tea was sweet, but not overly sugary. I also had the strawberry milk with panna cotta that comes in a plastic clear bottle. I enjoyed the sweet panna cotta that added more texture to the sweet strawberry milk, but for the price of around $8, I would not buy it again. You are not allowed to do any customizations, and most drinks are defaulted to one size while charging an exorbitant price for what they have to offer. As if the bottle was not small enough, the panna cotta took up a chunk of the space at the bottom, leaving you with even less room for liquid. The milk tea was not even amazingly fragrant for the price you pay for. I came back to try the black milk tea with creme brulee as my friend said it was good and I was still not impressed.
