Finally made it to try Mediterranean Spice with my hubby and boy was it good! We just came back from a cruise to Greece and this food took us right back there. Really great flavors! Tried this place today because I was really missing Byblos in Atascadero. Ordered lamb kebab with a side of hummus, rice, and salad. (My favorite) Kabobs were good with the garlic sauce from the condiments bar, the rice and hummus were a little bland compared to what I'm used to.. They don't have coffee or tea to sip with the baklava, only sodas and water. Overall a good meal. I make hummus and tabouli at home which I learned from my former Armenian neighborhood years back so probably more critical than most. Glad this restaurant had pickled turnips! Mostly counter height tables and chairs which I don't prefer, so sat at 1 of 3 shorter tables. Must order from the counter. read more

Prices really low yet food quality and taste high -- far from the typical fare of the fast food restaurant yet prices comparable. Servers were personable and I enjoyed the lamb kabab. The best spanakopita I've ever had. My mother in law grew up with this food because her dad was from the Mediterranean. She said she hasn't had food that was like this since her dad. That says a lot. My husband and I opted for a gyros plate and Mediterranean sal,with extra meat (I was hungry.... naturally, finished about half, oops), which I was thrilled with. They are making their own gyros shaved off a spit, which I am so happy to see, hummus, tzatziki (super rich and creamy), and pita. The rice was spiced to perfection, and the Mediterranean salad was a perfect fresh, slightly acidic balance for the rich meat and tzatziki. Everything was extra flavorful plentiful and fresh! Food is excellent and SO FRESH! Had the Greek salad and gyro salad - both were so flavorful and big portions. Will come back and try other menu options as they all look amazing! The gyro meat is the best we've had - not overcooked and so tender! Service is a bit slow but worth the wait for sure. Would be good for takeout or sitting street side on a nice day. My husband and I went to eat here today. It was amazing. Haven't had great Mediterranean food in a while. And it's a nice change in Paso Robles. It's a walk up to the counter to order and the waiter brings your food to the table. Very clean in there. I had the sampler platter which was hot and fresh. The dolmas were just ok but the spanakopita was delicious and the falafel patties were hot and big. It came with a fresh grilled veggie side and a tomato salad of sorts. Great flavorful hummus. I had to ask for more it was so good. My husband chose the tri tip platter. It came with the same fresh salad and rice pilaf. I tried his tri tip and it was delicious as was the rice pilaf. The pita bread was out of this world fresh and I could see the cook in the back making them fresh to order. Nice ambiance inside. We ordered a couple of baklava and at this writing I have not tried it yet bc I'm so full. They also have a fresh condiment bar with pickled veggies and a couple different dipping sauces. I want to go back soon to try their pizza. I saw a lot of diners eating pizza and seemed to enjoy it. read more

So we decided to try out this new place in Paso Robles. It is just off the "main drag" and the park. It's a large room--and could maybe use a few more indoor tables so it doesn't look so "empty" inside. There's plenty of nice outdoor counter seating also. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The food took a while to come out, probably as there seemed to be a lot of to-go orders also. The prices were really fair, as I'm from L.A. and this kind of food is usually pricier there. That being said, the food was all terrific! My husband had the gyro salad which had lots of fresh lettuce, olives, shaved meat, etc. I ordered the gyro sandwich and garlic fries and it was all great! They also have a condiments bar with additional sauces and shaved onions, etc. Yum! Wouldn't hesitate to come back here again for lunch or dinner :) read more

Food is really good whether it's the chicken. Shawarma or hummus or falafels. Prices are fair and portions are perfect. What knocks them down and with this being said I know they are new but something to work on is service. It can take 30-40 minutes for a pick up order. They only have one person working the front and unfortunately the food waits while he continues to take orders. I got the chicken shawarma plate and the rice tasted like nutmeg and was sweet instead of the traditional turmeric rice you would get at a mediterranean spot. The pita bread was not pita bread but a fluffy tortilla. I ordered for pickup and it took 40 minutes longer than they said it would. Definitely not traditional mediterranean food and they are definitely working out some kinks but it's the only mediterranean food in the area so I probably will be returning. read more

I really wanted to like this place, because I love Mediterranean food. However, I'm very concerned about the lack of regulations. I thought dogs inside a restaurant where food is prepared was against a health code? If I'm wrong, that's good, but On Saturday Dec 28 there were 3 dogs inside the restaurant, in the dining area... actually all over the dining area. Two snarling and growling at each other. The counter person and food server ( yes they were busy, but....) said nothing. Second, the " sauce" station had no cover, and I witnessed an elderly gentleman literally eating from the containers without dishing the food into a personal dish ( which was provided). That aside ( which was enough for me)... I wasn't prepared the 4 star food everyone is talking about, so I was disappointed. The falafel was dry, the sauce way too tangy. ( same said in other reviews) The rice and humus was delicious. The chicken had great flavor but was a bit on the dry side. Will I try it again? Doubtfully, I don't know. I love dogs, I spoil mine rotten, but she's not allowed in the kitchen when food is being prepared, especially when there are guests in the house. Addendum - I did get a reply from the owner . I want to make it clear ... the dogs were not in the kitchen, but did seem to have full range in the dining area, and they were certainly not service dogs. Perhaps a sign on the dog could avoid this in the future I'm bummed my experience was not as expected. I hope yours will be better. read more

So glad this place opened up! Great new addition to the limited Paso options for reasonably priced food. Great food complemented by great service from Caden (hopefully spelt that right). He has a friendly attitude and great customer service skills, which frankly is hard to come by with ones of his generation. My son's order didn't get made for some reason, even though the rest of our table's came. Caden was apologetic and super friendly about it, going above and beyond. They've got a good employee with him. Comfortable atmosphere, although it would have been nice to have some booths in there. Looking forward to eating here more often. read more
