Stopped in for lunch today with my family while we were tackling some escape rooms. Odyssey is a pretty cool place it's small but feels bigger than it is and there are plenty of tables for seating. You take a menu and sit anywhere then go up to the counter when you're ready to order. The staff are extremely friendly and checked on us more than once as well as gave us a rundown of how everything worked. I had the ribeye steak tacos and I thought they were delicious. The steak was tender and well cooked, the avocado was fresh and the salsa was very flavorful with just the right amount of heat. My wife had the blackened tofu tacos and wasn't as thrilled as I was. She found them a little bit bland even with the peanut sauce and didn't understand putting cabbage on something that's already lettuce wrapped. Overall it was still a good experience and I'd definitely stop in again if I'm in the area. read more

On a summer Monday night Odyssey was very full for dinner. The locals know that Odyssey consistently serves excellent food at reasonable prices. What would be a $200 dinner elsewhere is at least half that at Odyssey. Their dinner specials are especially good values. Service is pleasant and efficient in a no frills but comfortable environment. This place deserves all the stars in the world. The staff is great, there is plenty of seating and the food is just so consistently good! There is nothing too fancy about this place its more on the casual side. However there is small outdoor patio that can be accessed from inside. Now that little seating area is special, lots of greenery perfect for a small dinner party or for a romantic date. The soup of the day was well seasoned and just the right amount. The lunch sized Alfredo was more than enough, honestly it's one of the best Alfredo's i have ever had. The sauce is so rich and the chicken is grilled, you can taste a bit of the smokiness which to me adds the perfect flare. As for the chocolate soufflé, I'm no expert but it was delicious. So creamy and rich in chocolate flavor yet not overpowering. I'd say i had myself a well balanced meal along with a sweet treat! read more

We were on vacation with family members in Paso Robles. We'd been out & about to different venues with everyone pursuing their favorite interests, including wine tasting, beer tasting, and olive oil tasting. Lots of tastings! We also cooked at the rental home one night. For our last night together we wanted to go into town and have a nice sit-down meal together. After being blown off by another restaurant downtown due to the size of our party of 8, we ended up wandering into Odyssey World Cafe. We were feeling frustrated after waiting for an hour on a Tuesday night at a different place that still didn't seat us. Odyssey greeted us warmly, and seated us right away. Great start! Their program is to order from the counter, pay there, and they receive a number for the table and they'll bring your order to you. Aside from that fast casual approach (which helps keep the costs down for diners), everything else was like being in a full-service restaurant. Special props to the kitchen. They were turning out delicious meals that were certainly a step above what we were expecting. Well-prepared, delicious, and plated very nicely. The beverages are self-serve, so we could pick what we wanted. They have fountain machines, plus lots of options in the cold cases. They also offer scrumptious desserts. The cafe is housed in a vintage building. The interior was interesting, if not fully striking. I see that I only took photos of the food. Hey, we were hungry! If you want casual dining with terrific food, I can't recommend enough. My SO and I shared two items, the ahi tuna salad and the creamy shrimp pasta. Both were incredible. Before the dishes come out you get rolls with olive tapenade and pats of butter. Bread and tapenade are great if you enjoy the brininess of olives. The ahi tuna salad comes with a horseradish dressing that is surprisingly spicy, so you may want to use more as a dipping sauce, because the heat will go up your nose. The creamy pasta was awesome, I wanted more bread to finish the leftover sauce. We will be back for more dishes to try out. read more

A great place to just stop all I've eaten here before and it's great. The service is really nice. I do wish it was a table service but you just go up in our order what you want and then they do bring it to you if you have a moment, but most of the time you have to go up there and get it there are seven layer chocolate cake just looked amazing and deadly but really good. What a delightful spot! We came in on a Sunday afternoon, and were promptly greeted. I liked that we were able to pick our own table. Really neat vibes there and the interior is so warm and cozy. Staff was extraordinarily helpful. We had salmon wrap with salad on the side. Absolutely fantastic!! The flavors blended so nicely with the Asian seasonings and vegetables. We had heard about their Mon-Wed Specials. $20 for an entree, side and a glass of wine! What a fabulous deal! Being retired and on a fixed income, this is a terrific, affordable dinner out for us. We invited friends to come with us. We all had the Monday Chicken Fried Steak with gravy, mashed potatoes and veggies. I had a salad and my friends all had the pumpkin soup. The response to the soup, "best pumpkin soup they had ever had. " The service was incredible! No sooner had we sat down than our wine orders came right out. We had time to chat and then our entrees came out. Our server came by several times to see if we needed anything. We had a nice, relaxing, delicious dinner. We are planning to come back more often. You order at their counter and then beverages and food are brought to your table. I was enjoying the whole experience so much, I forgot to get pictures. First Impression: Walk in front door, grab a menu and sit down.. Then menu reads to order at the counter. We didn't pay attention and sat waiting to be waited on. Placed our order and we're told drinks are self service after ordering, paying and tipping up front. Which is fine, but state I'm serving myself even though I tipped for your service. I don't mind walking extra steps to quickly grab my own coffee and water. Food order: Tri Tip Dip w sweet potato fries, a side of white bean and ham soup, Lamb Gyro and fries. Lamb Gyro: the taste was pretty Americanized and the flavors fell flat for me. The taziki sauce served with it was pretty plain. If I'm being completely fair this is probably amazing to some, I prefer super strong flavors.. this is a 3/5 for me The Tri Tip Dip was served deli lunch meat thin, with a piping hot cup of au jus on soft bread. The Tri tip was lightly pink, and pretty flavorless, no real flavor, seasonings or even saltiness noted. This sandwich was dependent on the bread and au jus. The bread however, was soft and fluffy and REALLY good, but shouldn't have shown up the meat. My first bite was of just meat, then just meat and bread. I give it a 3/5. Sweet Potato and regular fries: both had an amazing texture, tasted fresh, were seasoned well and were cooked perfectly!! We both really enjoyed the fries! It would be a beautiful accompaniment to see an aioli served with the sweet potato fries, but that's personal preference. Let's talk pickle on the plate: I don't know if pickles are made in house... but they were super crunchy,perfectly seasoned, salt, fresh, well flavored! If they added a cup of pickles as a side I would order them!! Or if they made deep fried pickles out of them, I'd race my car back here! Service: trash was QUICKLY picked up from the table we were asked repeatedly if we needed anything as far as sauces, boxes.. This DEFINITELY made up for the pre tip!! We ended up quite happy to get our own drinks when we wanted them and to make our coffees exactly as we wanted them and it turned into something we were QUITE grateful for!! To the owner, THANK YOU FOR THINKING OF US AHEAD OF TIME! Dessert: I love a fat piece of carrot cake with fresh carrots in it and cream cheese frosting!! This cake was like my mommas old school recipe I BEGGGGGG her to make every year for my birthday! I'd drive three hours from home for a slice of this cake!! I happily got up and made myself the perfect cup of coffee with sugar in the raw and half and half just the way I wanted it and almost had an orgasm at the table eating it!! From the outside of the restaurant, it looked like a nice decent one. The menu offering sounded good so we went in. Was a little surprised that it was a cafeteria style place. You find a table and then go to the counter and order your food and pay for it. There's a drink section for water, sodas etc that you can help yourself too. We ordered the BBQ Ribs (special for the day), and chicken marsala. The ribs came with a salad. Ordered some fries to go with it. They also served some bread - which was OK. Fries were good and so were the ribs. Altough it was a smoked rib so it was a little tough but flavorful. The chicken marsala was a disappointment. It did not look like any chicken marsala dish I've ever had! It did taste better than it looked. Looked like a bowl of mushy sauce and pasta. Not very appetising! Portions are quite large. read more

We both ordered the lamb gyro sandwich, mine with a side salad, hers with fries. The gyro sandwich was ok. Meat was good and plentiful. The lettuce was chunks of romaine, and the tomatoes were eh. I prefer a shredded lettuce on a sandwich such as this and more onion but all in all ok. My friend's fries were good, but my side salad I didn't like. It was bitter and maybe I picked the wrong dressing. Service was friendly and efficient. If I came again I would try something different. read more

This place has the best food & plenty of choices. From chicken Alfredo to teriyaki chicken with fresh vegetables to fish tacos. And it's all so delicious and fresh. The ambiance is nice, quiet, and comfortable. The experience is very different from most restaurants as you go in and place your order and make your purchase before seating yourself. You also serve and refill your own drinks if you purchase them. All in all it's great and one of my go to's when I want a a healthier option. read more

Strange little place near the park in downtown Paso. It reminds me of a cafeteria. You irder at the counter and they bring the food to your table . We chose a roast turkey sandwich with green chili, which was simple, somewhat plain, but satisfying. Husband chose the tri tip dip and it was also plain but satisfying. This was a great place to visit for lunch on our way to Cambria. Upon arrival (no reservations) we were quickly seated in a lovely little outdoor area that was almost like a private dining space. (I bet this would be perfect for small groups that wanted to have meetings or a Game Night or something.) Orders are placed at the counter inside and the food was brought out to us. Stopped at Odyssey World Cafe after searching for a place with salads in Paso Robles. Also heard a cashier recommending it to another customer in a store I stopped it. It's near the city park and they post their menu for you to look at outside the restaurant. When you enter, grab a menu, and order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Drinks, including water, are self-service. I got a salmon salad, hubs got a gyro, and we got a kids pizza which is pita with cheese on it and you can add marinara if you want. They had two soups that day and between the chicken noodle and creamy mushroom, we got the latter. Soup came out first which was perfect for our kiddo, since he takes so long to eat. The rest came out soon after and everything was delicious. The salmon salad was perfectly dressed and my husband enjoyed his lamb gyro and fries. This place is so great. Walked in on Thanksgiving day, and they were able to squeeze us in. Can I just say, one of the best Thanksgiving meals I've ever had? For an absolute steal of a price? Wow, I'm so impressed. And the service was phenomenal, staff was so friendly and attentive. Will absolutely come back when I'm in town and will recommend to everyone! Has an outer and inner seating area with enough spacious tables. Love the large windows in the front. Food- got the rib eye sandwich with side of soup which was creamy pumpkin. Soup was tasty, could've used some crackers. Sandwich was cooked medium rare, with caramelized onions and mushrooms on a ciabatta sandwich. Simple but good and hit the spot. Companion got the chicken parm which was neither great nor bad. Linguine was overcooked and tomato sauce was generic. Has nice collection of wines. Got a glass of local rosé. Street parking only. Our family went to Odyssey for Thanksgiving & the service was amazing. They treated us as family & the food was so delicious. There were many options available for dinner for those who are vegetarian, some didn't want the turkey & opted for the steak or salmon. Everyone enjoyed their meal so much. There were 17 of us & we had reservations. Upon entering the restaurant the tables were all set for us where we could all be together.
