This is my favorite place. We usually order some skewers (chicken softbone, beef, lamb) and the house hotpot with fish. So many things on the menu that we want to try. The staffs are very nice and sweet! I want to add pictures to show how delicious the food is but just realized that i don't have any lol. The food was so good that i forgot to take photo but eat right away. Definitely come back (and take photos)! read more

Stopped off for a quick lunch and found this place on accident, because something else was closed. The menu is complicated, so much so we didn't even get to try the hot pot items. Will have to come back to try maybe for dinner. Chinese skewers and combo dishes. The combo dishes have a meat and then my guess is, two sides which change. Today was the tomato with scrambled eggs and woodear mushroom salad. Everything was yummy! The chicken combo you can select how you want the chicken seasoned. So many options. I went with Chinese salt and pepper, but then it asks for sauce, which I got ranch, because well, the other ones were less of a fit. I should have taken a picture of the menu, because it's a little confusing for a first timer, but I think I have a better understanding for next time. We were the only party for most of the time, so it was very attentive service. The food was a little slow, but I figure each thing is prepared individually. A welcome addition to the plaza and soooo much better than Greedy Cat that proceeded it. I agree with the other reviewer that if you enjoyed GUI BBQ that you will love this place as well. The spice that'll mixture that is used on just about everything is super cuminy and addicting. My favorite was the beef skewers. It tastes just like the ones from my childhood from vendors along the streets of Chinatown! All the other dishes we got were good and flavorful as well. The pineapple rice is good but a little bit oily for me. The toast was fine. I guess I was expecting something more special or unique-- it's just buttered white bread and sugar. Service was great, helps if you speak Chinese for sure but the waitress is very friendly. Restaurant is clean and quiet. excited to come back soon! read more

The hot pots were delicious... our first time trying a hot pot we got one meat and one seafood hot pot and shared amongst four of us and we had a good time. Skewers were seasoned perfectly. I've never had these types of skewers, but oh my the seasoning was so addictive :) price point is also really good! 2. Short rib set had huge portions and the cold dish included in the set was so flavorful. 3. Fish hotpot (small) was more than enough for two. Portions were generous and it came in a heatable pot, so we could enjoy it hot for the entire time. Also, they have a wide range of Chinese tea/drinks to choose from! Its a nice hidden gem for those craving that chiense seasoned taste. All of the skewers are very flavorful and seasoned. It can get a bit salty but if you're into salty foods definitely give a try. We were passing by the area and found this gem. They serve legit northern Chinese food. The appetizers we tried were so flavorful (seaweed and black fungus mushroom). The fish spicy pot was really good and comes with a huge fish filet and mixed vegetables. We got it medium spicy and it wasn't too spicy, even had a hint of sweetness. The owner served us and she was super sweet and patient while explaining the menu. It's located in a plaza with other restaurants but there was plenty of parking. read more

Great option to have close by campus, the food itself is actually really good too. I love me some hot pot and dry pot and they do it well here. They don't mess around with the spice, so medium spicy might be pushing it for most people. The cumin spicy profile is very good. We got ours with fish and it comes with a simmering pot of an entire half fillet, spam and assorted veggies. It's a cauldron of fire you definitely need rice for but it's so soothing and warming especially on a cold day. The small easily feeds two. Not to be forgotten are the lamb skewers. If you want ambiance, the disposable paper plates are definitely a turn-off. If you can get over that, the taste would definitely reward you. We ordered the fried chicken which was surprisingly good, although the accompanying chips carried an unpleasant odor of rancid oil. Additionally, we selected the fish fillet hot pot with two to three extra toppings. Fortunately, we chose the small portion size for the hot pot, as the two of us were unable to finish it! First thing that I noticed was the ridiculous price. The skewers AVERAGED $7-$8 a skewer which I thought was quite a high up charge. We were already there so we just ordered anyways. We ordered the beef, lamb, large intestine, and fried rice which honestly were all pretty good and well seasoned, especially the large intestine which was my personal favorite. It was super crispy yet the meat inside was so juicy and tender. Would I say it was worth $8 a pop? Not really compared to other skewer places that charge $2-3 per and taste almost identical. Do note that they serve your food in styrofoam plates and small paper trays, which I don't mind but aren't the best for pictures. It doesn't matter as long as the food is good. The one thing that really threw me off was when we went up to pay, I was going to pay our order in cash and they did offer a complimentary jelly dessert for doing so. It was really delicious honestly but as I waited for them to hand us our complimentary jelly after receiving my change, they said "Did you tip yet?" "Tipping is most appreciated so please tip." I was already going to leave cash on the table as tip as I generally do in restaurants but I was just kinda thrown off by the cashier's pushy attitude. I totally found this place by accident, but I'm so glad I did! Upon entering, we were quickly seated and the whole restaurants got the authentic Chinese, family owned feel to it. The owners were so nice, it's such a homey feeling. So we ordered their beef skewers, chicken skewers, and mussels with glass noodle*. Super tasty!! It was my boyfriend's first time eating here and he loved the skewers. I also ordered the spicy crawfish combo. Super worth. Large portions of crawfish, mapo tofu, and potato with rice. Honestly I think I would come back here again because we weren't super hungry, but I'll definitely bring my boyfriend's family here for dinner! Owner also packed my to go box. There was only one server but she was so friendly and nice! I honestly just want to come back to feel her energy again because it was great after a long day. We were craving skewers and they did not disappoint! We had lamb, beef, pork belly, hearts, and bean curd. They were all flavorful and tasty but the pork belly really stood out! They were so good we ordered extra skewers. We also got the pork and leek handmade dumplings. They were juicy and good but the wrapper was a little thick. My partner said it would have been perfect if they served beer but overall, great experience! We will definitely be back to try the hotpot.
