I came in today due to an airbag light that kept randomly coming on after I had my airbag replaced. 1st time was when I was doing a 3 point turn, then it kept getting worse. 1st person I spoke to at Honda was telling me how I would probably have to pay money to get it fixed - all before even seeing the car. It really pissed me off so I spoke to the manager. He immediately got a tech to hook it up to the computer and it turned out to be the drivers seat belt that was covered under warranty. I've purchased several cars here since 2010 because the pricing/inventory was what I was looking for. I'm only giving them three stars because on each deal the trade-in process was absolutely horrendous. Every time they give you a price & have some clever rationale as to why that's it. I wouldn't even call it a lowball as I'm only usually looking for another $500 & then I'd be happy especially when I see what they've marked my trades up to when reselling them with doing little to no work to them. The other star was for not being able to fix my 1-month-old car on a Sat. & telling me that I needed to come back during the week because I needed a Master Tech. I have a regular mechanic and there has not been one thing they have got me to try and do that was necessary. I highly question their service stations ethics as a business. Honda should be ashamed to have their name associated with such a dealership. First and foremost- they do not honor reservation times. This is the 3rd time I have had an appointment, been told my car would be ready while I wait in 45 minutes or less, and been completely lied to about the wait time. Almost 3 hours today to accomplish nothing. Last week I brought my vehicle in for an oil change, tire rotation and full point inspection to make sure all was well. Immediately after leaving the dealership *and mind you this is after a wheel balancing I paid for as well* my vehicle was completely misaligned and dangerously pulling left. I scheduled a new appointment for a week later...I was told I would have to pay for an alignment. 2 hours later I am told vehicle can't be aligned. They said I need new control arms, ball joints, tie rod ends and more. I was under the car and saw what they pointed out... These parts were a bit beat on but I know for a fact still have life in them. Car was driving PERFECT and SAFE AND STABLE prior to their "wheel rotation". They wanted me to pay $4000 to replace these parts....and yet one week prior every single one of these parts passed their multi point inspection. So either they gave me a dangerous car a week prior and said everything passed - OR they tried to rob me for thousands of dollars one week later...I made them rotate wheels back to original setup and miraculously there is no more pull in my alignment. Good luck. I will never return. I will NEVER buy a honda from them. This experience will be going to corporate. Even better- Honda wanted to charge me $1,388 for the outer tie rod replacement. Two months ago, I bought a certified used 2009 Honda Fit from this dealership. I know the reviews for this dealership aren't that great, but I will be one of the first to say my experience was great. My salesman was Abe. I had been car shopping for about three weeks. Long story short, I paid an excellent price and the transaction was super easy. Maybe I was just in the right place at the right time, but the car I bought was marked down because it had sat on the lot for a while (I guess someone had tried to buy it but the financing didn't work out.) I paid about a grand less than the going price for the car. I was stressed out with car shopping and was shocked at how easy it was to buy a car here. There were no games, no frills, no hidden fees or "surprises." They took a $200 dealer fee, which is reasonable compared to the other dealerships I visited that wanted $400. I drove an hour and a half and came from Connecticut to buy my car here because the price was right. No regrets at all. I got the car I wanted, the salesman made his commission and the dealership got a car off the lot. Win-win-win. Sure, any purchase that ends up costing you thousands of dollars IS going to be a little nerve wrecking. But two months, three thousand miles, and several envious friends later, my new baby is still going strong. I'm happy with my choice and satisfied with the price I paid. My issue was not that I had to pay for the service but that I was treated so poorly when initially questioning it. "Are you serious?" repeated over and over is not a great way to show empathy. Also still concerned why I was initially told to call AAA without being asked about my vehicle or asking if I contacted Honda Roadside Assistance (I was less than a mile from the dealership so I just called there first.) Salesmen will be salesmen and I didn't realize that it wasn't a smart idea to put down such a LARGE down payment on a lease back then (this was my first car and it wasn't explained to me that this wouldn't be a smart idea...) but now I know better for next time. Dont keep their words.. I visited them in 2009 for a pre-own Fit. After a painful 2 hours of bargaining and negotiating on the price (I work hard for my money), the sale consultant agreed to sell me the car! I was really happy, until the sale manager showed up with a sad face and asking me $2500 more (orly?). There was no way I would have that much money to put into the car so I left... By the end of 2010, thinking it was just a random incident before. I visited them for a new Civic.. .. The same thing happened to us again! The manager showed up and asked for $2500 more... wow... this place is seriously joking around with me! They agreed on my price, when I was about to put the money down, the manager showed up and asked for couple thousands more! I dont think this is a random stuff anymore, probably their sale strategy.. They wanted ppl to think they already have the deal they wanted by that moment, so asking for couple thousands more is not a problem(They will drag you thru 2 hours of talk, very frustrating, give u hope then...) I got a sense that they do not like to deal with a certain set of people. People without local US licenses or US driving history. I was also very clearly told that since they did sell quite a bit of cars that day (18 to be exact), they felt the price I asked the car for was below what they would prefer to sell. I had set an appointment and since I was going to reach about 15 minutes earlier, I had written a mail too regarding the updated time. However the person who confirmed the appointment had left for the day and the other person did not provide any history to the product specialist. They simply forgot about my appointment. Instead of having someone assigned to me, they just had sent someone over after he had finished with other folks and he did not seem aware of either my needs or the previous communication with me. There was also no effort to get the details to him. That said, I was not mistreated and they did not try to missell. Go here to buy, but NOT to service. Sales are good with generous trade-in allowances. Sales prices are very low, sometimes below invoice if you buy a model that hasn't been on the lot very long. Make sure you negotiate EVERYTHING first. The price may be great on the car, but when you start adding things, they won't budge. Service: Terrible. I once had to have some work done on the front seat which required removing and reinstalling it. They forgot to plug in into the car's computer. If there was an accident, the car would think there was no seat there and the airbag wouldn't have deployed. Bottom line, buy here, don't service here. read more

I bought the new car from them. At the time of purchase, I have everything set and ready to go. I took the loan from my bank and just needed the purchase order from dealership. Instead of purchase order, they asked my SSN by saying that they will take care of everything by themselves. So, i don't need to go back and forth to bank to get my check. I agreed to them because it will reduce my work. They applied for new car loan without my knowledge. Next day, i start getting calls from all over the world about new car loan. I asked them what the hell you guys did this? They justified by saying that we are trying to get you a good deal in interest rate. The deal i never asked for? I was so pissed. I have no issue buying a car here, 5 stars! I bought a 2020 accord back when it was Honda cars of Boston. The sales and finance guys were great back then and I hear are now too through McGovern, But now that it is McGovern Honda service, I urge my fellow Honda owners to seek other dealers for service. I brought my car in for service yesterday and was fed a bunch of lies that my car needed a lot of attention. When I questioned the advisor about it he didn't think he was going to get questioned why at 23000 miles does my car need a brake job? I'm the only person who drives it and it's always been in for maintenance and never had issues. They really try to upsell. He called me a liar for telling him I recently changed my wipers and urged me to spend 100 bucks to get them changed. Anyway my total bill if I had done everything he wanted would have costed me 1500. I had only went in for an oil change and brake flush because the car tells you when you need to do that stuff. Recently purchased my 2015 Certified pre-owned Honda Pilot Touring edition. After a less than stellar experience at another Honda dealer with the same model but less accessories and higher price. My sales rep Mark C was friendly and helpful,if there was a question that needed more explanation,lead Sales Joe was right there. Oscar was super informative on financing and got me a better deal at my credit union than my credit union was offering me directly. It's been almost 3 months since my purchase. In that time I had to contact them because of a chip in the windshield. When I wasn't happy with the repair that the glass guy who works with then did,they compensated me for my time and inconvience without question. Then 2 weeks since purchase actually,I was rearended. I immediately called Mark for direction of what to do,since the car was new I wanted it to be repaired correctly. He referred me to the most excellent auto repair shop they work with, Today's collison center in Chelsea. Due to the relationship they have with the repair shop,the repair shop even replaced a missing part and reseated my fog light without making me return to the dealership service center and those 2 things had nothing to do with the accident. Mark is still so quick to respond to a text if I have a question and refer me in the right direction. I really dislike going car shopping,feeling like I will get completely "taken for a ride". I did my research this time and this dealership was clean,friendly,organized,helpful and I got an excellent deal on a fabulous car!!! Buying our new CR-V was a great experience...... We never thought we would say that buying a vehicle was a Great experience.  But it just happened last week. First, by husband utilized American Express Auto Purchasing Program. Once he was offered a great price, he used that to contact this dealership.  The first person he was in contact with was Rocky in Internet Sales.  Rocky is courteous, professional and understood when we told him we wanted this transaction done over the phone, not by coming into the dealership.  We are capable of filling out financing, lining up our insurance with our own agent and making sure everything is complete without driving to Everett.  He got that. And he made sure he put us in touch with a great sales associate named Isaac who searched  to find our exact color and interior EXL that we wanted and got it from Hyannis for us. Isaac also is courteous, professional and fully understood how to make our car buying experience work so we didn't have to come in until the papers were all in order and ready to be signed.  Amazing how well this all worked.  Oscar in finance made sure we were set with our rates and that it went seamlessly.  A very knowledgeable gentleman who's name I don't have, sat in the vehicle and set up our Bluetooth and showed us the bells and whistles. I can't say enough how well this went.  You know we have a Honda dealer right here in Norwood, and there is no way we would buy from them with their predatory practices.  And we were dealing with very nice sales people at Herb Chambers, but they would not honor the American Express Program price, so that is why we went to Honda Cars of Boston. We highly recommend them.  Do your homework and you can have a very good car buying experience too. We had a new vehicle on Saturday and a new Superbowl sticker on it by Monday....  doesn't get any better than that! read more

McGovern Honda - A great group of salespeople made getting this new CRV wonderful. - Auto Repair Near Me - Everett, Massachusetts

My wife and I just bought a certified 2010 Odyssey from HCoB, and I have to say that I feel we got a solid deal on a nice car and were treated fairly and honestly at every stage. I initially did quite a bit of searching on the Net for Odysseys, and HCoB came very high on the list as far as having a good price on a 2010 EX-L (factoring mileage, of course). Their price included the vehicle being certified with a full soup-to-nuts warranty for 12 months/12,000 miles, plus extended powertrain coverage. Bottom line, HCoB was pricing $2-3K lower than my local dealers here in NH, who were not even certifying their models! I called them and spoke to Oscar, the sales manager, who was easy to talk with and offered to take a close look at the car for any dings or blemishes that might not appear in the photos. We drove down a few days later and were surprised to see how pristine the car looked. It had brand new factory floor mats in every row. Oscar showed us the work order outlining the work they had put into the car before listing it-- new Yokohamas all 'round, brake system flush, new front brake pads and turned rotors, new cabin and engine air filters, oil change, even new tailights for some unspecified reason. A test drive confirmed the van was in great working order. My only complaint was how long it took for them to finish the paperwork. I brought down a certified bank check and temporary plates, so the deal should have taken maybe 30 minutes to wrap. Instead a series of finance guys and another sales rep came and went over a two and a half hour period (we grabbed a lunch in the middle after the finance guy left the office and apparently disappeared). I got the distinct feeling that they do not have a formal or efficient way of handling paperwork. But, all in all, I would still recommend Honda Cars of Boston. All the people we dealt with there were pleasant and at no point did I feel they were getting high-pressure on me. At one point, the salesman asked if I wanted the wheel locks (which were already installed) for $89. When I declined, he told me (about an hour later) that I could keep them for free, since it would be too much of a bother for them to take them off. They are in the middle of a major renovation, so the showroom is a mess and has no cars on display. I think they said the project will be completed in July. Everett is a pain to get to, but even with the inconvenience, I would heartily recommend this dealer for its straight shooting and ability to offer (at least in the used market) a quality car beautifully reconditioned and warrantied at an excellent price. read more

Had a Honda Element with no heat. They flushed the system but that didn't solve the problem. Next step was a $1900 dollar Heater core replacement. I made the appointment and asked for a loaner which they agreed to. The tech actually found the source of the problem and fixed it without replacing the Heater core. They didn't charge me anything. Long term customer, but not for much longer. Since they rebranded from Honda cars of Boston to McGovern Honda of Boston, they won't honor any of the deals agreed on at the time of car purchase unless you present them with the written evidence (free oil changes etc) - so try and find that info from when you signed. Of course, all the same staff work there, no doubt same computer system and records, they're just not following through on their promises - obviously that's appalling business behavior, and should discourage you from new or returning business with them. Also, I write this while sitting in the waiting area, where I've been sat for 2 hours and 30 minutes waiting for my first oil change, which they're making me pay for having previously agreed it'd be free. So I'd suggest you get your Honda from another dealer, there are many around the Boston area, and do not get services done here either. read more

The only reason I am giving three stars is because the parts department is great and never failed me. However, the service department needs to get some knowledgeable people working in there. I'm only a shadetree mechanic and I knew more about their product than they did. I purchased a new keyless fob for my 2000 Accord and needed it programmed. One of the service techs went with me to the car to program it. First thing he did when he opened my door was turn the headlamp switch off. I kindly asked him to turn the switch back on and that I never turn it off as the lights are automatic on a EX V6. He straight up said no they are not. (Well yeah they are). So he continued to "program" the fob. Once he was done I left and headed home. Wouldn't you know, the fob isn't working. After some internet searches I found the procedure and programmed it myself. The fob has worked like a charm for 2 years now. Oh, and the headlight deal. The switch has been on for 2 years now... no dead battery and the lights turn off after 30 seconds of closing all doors everytime!! I will continue to purchase parts from Honda Cars of Boston but I will service my own vehicle from now on. read more

NIGHTMARE ON BROADWAY - After filling out an online form, i spoke to them on the phone about a new vehicle. Was transferred to a financial advisor. I made an appointment and Without my knowledge or authorization, a hard inquiry was made on my credit. I went in the next day to purchase, they took forever to attend to me, and they ran my credit two more times - when i only authorized it once. I asked to see different colors of the car, and the salesgirl refused to let me see them and made excuses. Saying people love the black and that's the best fit for me.. okay, lazy! Then she said she would show me all the features once i picked up my car. I asked for a brand new car, and a not a tester, and they said yes. I spoke to the guy about add ons, and said no to everything and he wouldn't stop talking and told me to let him finish. When they handed me the paperwork for the car, to sign, there was no price on it. I asked for the amount to be on there before i signed, and they were pissed and tried to argue with me - super unprofessional. When the paperwork was done, and my salesgirl was going to show me the features, she kept having to go ask her colleague who was also her boyfriend - what a ditz. This is a review for the service at Honda Cars. The battery on my Honda CR-V had died (so dead that I couldn't even open the doors). I called them to make sure that my battery was still under warranty, and once they confirmed it I took it there (God bless AAA). They had my battery tested rigorously, and when it failed they replaced it at no cost. They were very nice and answered my questions clearly (unlike some other places who feel like you should not and/or could not understand what is going under the hood). The waiting room was clean, had comfy armchairs and a big screen TV. My only disappointment was that they didn't have ESPN (I ended up watching soap opera instead of ATP World Tour Finals). read more

My experience there was the "typical" sleezy and aggressive car salesmen that makes you feel uncomfortable. I could go in to more details about the harassment that followed for the next week... but thats for a different review! Anyway, after that my fiance called around to get a feel for other dealerships. HofB gave him numbers over the phone (unlike other places!) We went in that evening, and worked with Rich, who was friendly, not overly aggressive and focused on getting us in to the car and price we wanted. Unlike Herb Chambers (whom made us walk, in the rain, to look at the car we wanted) he brought it up front for us to peek at. Basic stuff, but its all in the details. The next day, after getting my inspection from Honda, we called to see if they would cover the damage cost. They agreed to, and we had a deal! When I went in, it did take a bit longer than expected, but these things can. I was checked in with frequently, so I didn't mind waiting. Oscar helped me with the finance paperwork, and he was absolutely great- so friendly, and no sleeze! I went in to get my inspection and registration the following day, no problems. John made sure I was in and out after I expressed my time crunch over the phone- it took about 20 minutes total. I was surprised to see the reviews when I logged in to write this. I think buying a car is a pain in the butt, and not easy. If you would like to deal with friendly sales folks (I recommend Rich) then head to HofB. I never write reviews but have to because this is hands down THE WORST customer service I've had in my ENTIRE life. First off, they got bought out and is no longer the same company and refused to acknowledge the complimentary service they offered when I bought the car last year, claiming that the information did not transfer over. Great way to turn new customers away. Second off, the staff is still the same and they are really incompetent, do not know the cars well, and straight up rude. If you want to buy a car here, make sure you do your own research and do not rely on these people. I can't even make this up but every single time I go there I had to go back for something else because of their mistakes and incompetency. I drive a Honda 2018. I drove into the services department to get the inspection taken care of and they stated that the car did not pass due to the tires. I asked them how much it would be to repair and they said 140 dollars give or take a few dollars. I was a little upset but scheduled the repair. Then days later I remembered that I had a warranty on the tires and that it should be covered so I called. The woman on the phone stated that I was mistaken and I didn't have a warranty. So I looked around for cheaper tires. The cheapest I could find was 108 at town fair tire. After the repair I came back to Honda services for the follow up inspection. While waiting I decided to speak to a sales representative and have him look up my contract. What do u know, turned out that I have the warranty and the service department just didn't want to take a min or two out of their day to look it up. So I'm out 108$ and hoping I don't have to pay for the second inspection, but knowing Honda I probably will. read more

Don't make the same mistake I made. There are several Honda Dealership around.... Just go to them. Simply they lie. I was offered.an e price for a brand new 2017 Honda CRV and to lure me the manager Samantha Lambert offered 2 complimentary oil changes if I bought the car. ( I have this documented because this was all in an email I received). When I went to buy the car... The manager probably thought I was from South of the border because of my looks and greeted me with happy Cinco de Mayo as I was there only 2 days after. I ended up buying the car and asked the sales guy where is the vouchers for those complimentary oil changes. Nothing Nada till date. Only some song and dance " oh I will get it to you...the manager is out today." Three weeks went by I called again....oh it's on the mail. Nothing. A month went by... I wrote to Samantha (email) and till date neither a response not any oil change vouchers. My point is when you won't do something...why lie. It's like bait and switch. I guess Ms.S never expected that I would be much familiar with Yelp to formally express my experience. They don't offer any quality customer sales experience just sell a car that any other dealer would do. Why would I be ever going back there or recommend anyone. Bad business. Hope the owners read this. They certainly lost my confidence and hope many more potential savvy buyers will be aware about their treatment before walking in. read more

A shining example of what service should be like. When I bought my first new car in 2000, I got it from Honda Cars of Boston. I have exclusively used their service center ever since. I've had an excellent 8+ year service relationship with Jay Gratton, a friendly, affable guy who helps me get my car in and out as quickly as possible. Jay's had to deal with me a lot since I live with cars for as long as I possible can and he's always been honest and helpful. From the moment I pull up, there are good folks there to help me, and many of them have been there for years. The waiting room is comfortable (although I do wish that big television didn't always have to be on a courtroom reality show!) and there's Wi-Fi so I can work while I'm waiting. The sales folks in the front of the place make my skin crawl, but I'm a big fan of the service guys. read more

Hands down the best service, real care, that I've gotten from any dealership/garage/mechanic/you name it - would have been in much trouble had the Service Dep. not taken care of me the way they did. If you want a Honda, or need service, these guys are fantastic. Found myself with a completely dead battery in the Mobil Station directly nextdoor. My '03 Civic, which had never had any problems, had been jumped the morning of but then died after I had shut it off to get gas. Wendel, a Salesman, was at the Mobil fueling a new civic for a custumer, and gladly drove me back to the dealership for a battery charger, and then drove me back to jump it himself. He introduced me to Eric Marcello from Service, and it was a six star performance (out of five...) from there on out. He fit me right in for a battery recharge/system diagnostic. The next day he called to explain the problem (new alternator, which I expected) and it was ready for pick-up two hours later. I'm from VIRGINIA, and was due back on a Military Instilation via Official Orders, and would have been screwed had they not been as speedy and efficient as they were.
