On weekdays, it gets packed but you may be able to find an open spot here and there. You don't actually need to display your ticket on dashboard, you just need to save it just in case. They take credit cards or quarters.

When I first entered, I was told by the staff member to be as considerate as possible to park away from the line. Even that was tough! The parking spots are so small! You pay on your way out, and the parking attendant will swipe your credit card for you. I didn't have any problem with the staff members personally, as they were pretty nice. There are limited parking garages around campus, so this is perhaps the most convenient option. There is another cheaper parking option down the road underneath the Harvard Square hotel. Good luck with street parking around here, as they can be hard to find and the parking cops don't joke around here.

Oddly enough, I had printed one of their $7 flat rate evening coupons at http://www.harvardsquareparking.com/coupon/daily_coupons_lp.php even though the plan was to park at the Harvard Square Parking Garage located at 65 JFK Street with an entrance at 20 Eliot Street, since with validation at Park Restaurant & Bar on Sundays thru Wednesdays the parking would have been free! But it turns out my DC ran late and didn't want to waste precious minutes locating the correct garage. Thus my coupon shaved $5 off their regular $12 rate for 30 min to 5 hours. Credit cards accepted. The garage was well lit. Directional markers clearly painted. Some multi-car spots were reserved for their valet service, but shorter self-park spots were also available. Smaller cars are offered smaller parking spots for a smaller rate. Free juice (electricity) and air were available and well marked with posted signage Two exits. Tucked away upstairs is Newbury Comics and a few other stores. Downstairs is where Subway is plus other food. It's retro feeling inside like you're back in the 90s hanging out which I kinda love??? They did replace Ben and Jerry's with a new spot that looked good. But it's also quiet inside and I wish more people came here. Maybe with a little more renovations or new businesses inside would draw a crowd, a little facelift if you will.

A great choice for surface parking lot, 8 Mount Auburn street is much more easily accessible than…read moresome of the other on-campus parking lots or garages. It can be easily missed if it's your first time here. The entrance is to the east of building 8 Mount Auburn Street. You will need to slowly get over to the bus lane in order to enter. Watch out for bikers and pedestrians since it gets busy. Morning and afternoon rush traffic always takes a long time to enter or exit, so give yourself plenty of time. Once at the lot, you can park anywhere where there is a signage that says "8 MTA permit parking only." There are also residents who live here, so definitely go very slow. Right now, it's $12 daily rate from 7 AM to 11:30 PM for Harvard affiliates. A much more affordable option than the private lots nearby.

This driveway is even smaller than the Harvard Square Parking Garage on Eliot Street! How is that possible?!
