On weekdays, it gets packed but you may be able to find an open spot here and there. You don't actually need to display your ticket on dashboard, you just need to save it just in case. They take credit cards or quarters.

I've only parked here once, and it was for commencement 2022 where all three classes (2020, 2021,…read moreand 2022) were on campus. The two-way ramp going up and down seriously only fits one car. When I first entered, I was told by the staff member to be as considerate as possible to park away from the line. Even that was tough! The parking spots are so small! You pay on your way out, and the parking attendant will swipe your credit card for you. I didn't have any problem with the staff members personally, as they were pretty nice. There are limited parking garages around campus, so this is perhaps the most convenient option. There is another cheaper parking option down the road underneath the Harvard Square hotel. Good luck with street parking around here, as they can be hard to find and the parking cops don't joke around here.

Tucked away upstairs is Newbury Comics and a few other stores. Downstairs is where Subway is plus other food. It's retro feeling inside like you're back in the 90s hanging out which I kinda love??? They did replace Ben and Jerry's with a new spot that looked good. But it's also quiet inside and I wish more people came here. Maybe with a little more renovations or new businesses inside would draw a crowd, a little facelift if you will.

There is a parking attendant at the garage entrance, where you will receive a parking ticket for you to swipe and re-enter the garage doors/staircase on the side. He regularly yells at customers and even curses under his breath while people are just trying to leave. The payment system is a complete mess; the machine is often broken, and he'll still demand cash even if you've already prepaid through SpotHero. The whole operation feels shady and chaotic. Save yourself the headache and park literally anywhere else.

It can be easily missed if it's your first time here. The entrance is to the east of building 8 Mount Auburn Street. You will need to slowly get over to the bus lane in order to enter. Watch out for bikers and pedestrians since it gets busy. Morning and afternoon rush traffic always takes a long time to enter or exit, so give yourself plenty of time. Once at the lot, you can park anywhere where there is a signage that says "8 MTA permit parking only." There are also residents who live here, so definitely go very slow. Right now, it's $12 daily rate from 7 AM to 11:30 PM for Harvard affiliates. A much more affordable option than the private lots nearby.

This driveway is even smaller than the Harvard Square Parking Garage on Eliot Street! How is that possible?! The place is like a maze for pedestrians and cars, even as someone who is fairly familiar with the Smith Center! The elevator doesn't work, so you must use the staircase. $38 for 2 hours + parking. Next time I will check out Municipal Lot 2 or other places first.

You will get a swipe ticket, which would allow you to swipe in and swipe out of the garage. It's a little confusing the street level access. I pressed "L" and it took me to the Harvard Law School lobby directly. Fortunately I'm familiar with the law school and know where to exit. If it's your first time here, it might take some time to get oriented.
