I visited the shop early in the morning seeking assistance with my car. The individual working there advised me to reach out later to arrange a visit either that afternoon or the following morning. Upon calling in the afternoon, I was informed that the staff member was unavailable at that time but could attend to me the next morning. I inquired about a specific time, and was instructed to call back in the morning. After taking time off work to visit the shop, I phoned as I was preparing to leave. The staff member mentioned needing to move a vehicle and promised to return my call. However, after no response for twenty minutes, I called again only to learn that my car could only be accepted by 4:30, but not later. Due to having work responsibilities until 5, I was advised to return the next morning. Requesting a set read more

Vinnie has serviced my Lexus RX 350 since 2019 and he is trustworthy, knowledgeable, reliable and reasonably priced. He's also just a low key, friendly guy. Knock on wood he doesn't retire anytime soon! read more

Vinny is the real deal! I showed up first thing in the morning with a rattling noise coming from the front of my car. I was about to drive all the way to New York City and needed to make sure it was safe. Vinny didn't hesitate--he took a look right away, diagnosed the issue quickly, and most importantly, reassured me that it was safe to drive. What really blew me away was that he didn't even charge me. He genuinely cared about my safety and peace of mind, which says a lot about the kind of person--and professional--he is. Honest, kind, and incredibly helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Vinny to anyone. This is the kind of service that deserves to be recognized! read more

They say once you find an honest, highly capable mechanic you should probably never move. Well, I finally found one here in Boston so it looks like I can never leave! I have a 2006 Toyota Matrix that has never had a major issue so it was finally do for something this year. I went to Sullivan's who quoted me $1100 to fix my exhaust system even though just one part of it needed replaced. I asked friends and coworkers if they knew any good, honest, stand up mechanics because I'm new to city and a woman so I've been screwed over before and didn't want to again. My wonderful colleague suggested Vinnie and said he's the reason he's never leaving Boston! Vinnie immediately had me bring my car to the shop, said not to worry about a thing and he'd fix it. He called me a couple hours later explaining what was broken, how much the part was he had to order, $150 and I can pick it up later that day. I came away spending only $350 for everything, parts, tax, and labor. He even saw that the framing on the drivers side was loose and fixed that too! When I picked my car up he showed me pictures he took of the whole process, before and after and explained everything to me. He treated me with respect and while that shouldn't have to be a major plus or hard to find, it has been since I first started driving. So yeah, I won't take my car anywhere else now so long as I live here. There's just no reason to. read more

Vinnie is the best. His mechanical and technical knowledge is far superior to that of any shop I've ever been to...and he's honest! Countless times I've been in there worried about a massive bill, only to find it was an inexpensive fix. Such a relief to know there are still talented, honest mechanics out there. I cannot recommend highly enough. -Pat Curley read more

Much of what others are saying is true -- Vinnie's shop is friendly, quick, and inexpensive. Unfortunately I found out 2 years later that what had been billed to me as a catalytic converter replacement was actually just a (much cheaper) repair to my exhaust system. About 6 months after the repair, I moved out of state and my check engine light came back on. I was told by a mechanic in my new town that it was because my catalytic converter needed to be replaced. "Can't be!" I said, foolishly. I figured that mechanic didn't know what he was talking about -- after all, Vinnie had been so nice about getting me such a good price on the new cat! Then I finally got around to taking it in to a larger, reputable mechanic shop. They told me the same thing -- plus they verified that the catalytic converter in my car was factory-installed. I thought I was losing my memory and going insane because I could SWEAR Vinnie installed a catalytic converter before I left Boston. At the new mechanic's prompting I dug out the invoice Vinnie gave me, which plainly said "catalytic converter" on it, for $383! They then checked the flexi pipe in the exhaust, and saw it was the only thing that had apparently repaired to get me through to inspection. Yes, I was looking for a cheap way to pass inspection, and yes, Vinnie did get my car to pass (although he took it to an inspection station on his own for me -- at the time this was very convenient, but now I'm a little curious). But I could have done without the scam. read more

Vinnie's service is outstanding, both in quality and promptness. Quick diagnosis, turnaround, and follow up (yes, he makes sure you are satisfied with his work). He's also a cool motorcycle racer! You know he pays attention to details because of this. Can't afford breakdowns while on the task. I highly recommend him for all your car needs. He's also conveniently located if you live in the city proper. read more

It's so rare to find a reliable, honest, and reasonable mechanic but Vinnie hits it out of the park with all of the above. I've taken my subaru to Vinnie multiple times and each time he was able to fit me in with very little notice and usually had it done the same day. Most of all, Vinnie is proud of the work he does, which is a testament to the quality he puts out. He always follows up with a call the next day to make sure you're happy with everything, which I've never experienced anywhere else. I wouldn't bring my car anywhere else and can't recommend Vinnie more. read more

Very responsive and reasonable pricing, don't try to overcharge. Let me know that a part was expensive if they ordered it so I got it myself for cheap and they installed it! read more

Vinnie saved me and my mother hundreds of dollars when our cars radiator cap broke and spilled all its radiator fluid causing the car to overheat, he immediately diagnosed and fixed the problem, saving us a $200 Uber ride home. My daughters car had a engine light come on and she needed to get a oil change. Called Vinnie and he said to bring car in. He diagnosed the engine light, changed the oil/ filter and examined the car for safety and other mechanical issues. Treated it like it was his daughter's car. It was great to feel like family and get great car care at a great price. read more

Been bringing my car's here since 2000 when I first came to Boston for college. Vinny has ALWAYS been 100% reliable on every car I have owned since then including VW's, Volvo's and Toyota's. He won't take an appointment if he won't finish that day and his prices are always very reasonable especially when you know that he repaired whatever was broken on your car correctly and was thoroughly inspected before you pick it up. Vinny used to fix and race rally cars (lancer EVO 5's I believe) and definitely uses all of his expertise from the car racing world to fix everyday problems. I would recommend his shop to anyone and everyone who has an out of warranty vehicle that needs something fixed on their vehicle. Thanks Vinny! read more

Vinnie is awesome! He was not able to help me with a particular issue and sent me to someone nearby who could (where I also received excellent service). I went back later with a different issue because he treated me so well and I wanted to bring him more business. He's easy going, communicative, and really charges excellent prices for his service. As a woman, it can be very frustrating and annoying to get men to listen and take us seriously when it comes to this stuff because they automatically assume we don't know what we're talking about. I never got that vibe with Vinnie. He listened very well, explained things clearly, and treated me like anyone else. If I have any more car issues in the future, I'm definitely going back to Vinnie. read more

I've been meaning to write this review for years. Vinnie is a life saver. I had taken my car to several mechanics who charged me up the ass and never actually fixed anything. Years went by with my car's problems never going away. I was losing so much money and nothing was changing. Then I brought my car to Vinnie. Not only was he the first person to figure it out he refused to charge me until he knew exactly what the issue was and that it was solved for good. He was extremely nice and easy to deal with and helped explain what was wrong in a clear and easy to understand way. He is the kind of mechanic you keep going back to for years because he is skilled, honest, and isn't looking to rip you off. read more

I moved to Boston 5 1/2 years ago, and as of yesterday I have finally 'found my mechanic!' Vinnie's is the place to go. Fast, efficient, quality, no-BS work! This is the first time since leaving my hometown I didn't feel like a car place wasn't trying to pull one over on me. When the bf picked up the car....surprise! Vinnie didn't have a laundry list of things that 'needed' to be fixed or looked at further. Amazing how most other places I've gone to have that laundry list ready to go... Vinnie is a good guy. Hard worker. Honest. Someone you can trust. Thumbs up and high fives all around. read more

Vinny was very generous with his time and walked me through a repair when he was too busy to do it himself.

I finally found a honest and reliable mechanic. Vinnie was professional and great to work with. He explains things as much or as little you want to know about the repairs needed. He even told me that I didnt need back brakes yet when another mechanic told me the brakes were gone and needed to be replaced immediately. That's honesty. His reviews on Yelp and other sites are well deserved! read more

Vinnie is by far the best mechanic that I have ever taken a vehicle to for repair. I've been taking my car to him for a couple of years now. He's fairly priced, reliable, knowledgeable, and honest. Best of all, I think he fixes cars because he loves it, not because it's his job. He races cars and bikes, he's probably owned one of everything and that's why he knows so much about your car model. He's also a super nice guy. You can't go wrong taking a car to him. read more

Always come back here, even after moving away from Union Square. Vinnie is a straight shooter and a super nice guy to boot.

I've used Vinnie for 30+ years. He's competent, fair, friendly, and honest. Great place to go for service. I'm never disappointed.

I had been dreading getting a wiring issue in my Jeep's rear light box fixed for weeks, and only the need to get a new inspection sticker got me to take the car into a mechanic. If you need a mechanic who is fair and fast, Vinnie's Auto Sport in East Cambridge totally exceeded my expectations. Vinnie took care of the issue quickly and also took the time to bring my car elsewhere for an inspection sticker, despite being the only person in the shop this week. When I got the bill, I thought there must be a mistake - it was literally hundreds less than I expected. Fair guy and great service. read more

The shop may not be shiny and leather-wrapped like the dealer's, but don't judge this book by it's cover. Vinnie isn't the sort to take advantage of you, whether you are an expert or amateur. Moreover, the work he does is top notch. Having been to a number of dealer garages, I would say that if he's at the top of the scale, I'd rate most dealers at a 3 or 4. His work is fast and thorough, but without any cut corners or missed details, and his labor rates are incredibly reasonable. And moreover, no mystery invoices here... Vinnie is always happy to explain what went wrong, and why. If you have a car, and it can get to his shop, then I can't imagine any good reasons to take it anywhere else. As noted elsewhere, cash or check only! read more

Vinnie knows his stuff. I went in for general upkeep (e.g. oil change, air filter, etc.), as well as for a brake issue. His diagnosis of the brake line issue was accurate, his knowledge spot-on and a very honest and reasonable appraisal/chargefor the work done. Great guy. What can I say about Vinnie that hasn't been said. He is a god among mere mechanic mortals. Like a benevolent deity, he takes care of the cars as if they are his own, works miracles with the touch of his hand, and is always fair. He has accurate discretion about what needs to be fixed, what is nice to fix, and what can be ignored. It has gotten to the point where I don't ask for estimates, just ask him to perform the work. It is like having an uncle in the business. I have two late model imports, and he has worked on everything from the benign to the complicated. Agree with others that he is honest, knowledgeable, and reasonable. There are two things you need in Boston if you are going to enjoy this city: a good bartender and a good mechanic. Let Vinnie be your mechanic. This is only because he hasn't made me a drink. He could be good at that too. read more

Great experience, I will be back and highly recommend! Vinny is courteous, straightforward, calls you to let you know what is going on and how long it will take to fix, and the price was very fair!! Great repairs at best prices in the Boston-Cambridge area. Vinnie is very nice and honest.

Vinnie is a rare breed in an industry marred by dishonesty. He is genuine, thorough, fair and efficient. He diagnosed the issue with my car immediately and had it back to me faster than he initially quoted me. His price was more than fair and he didn't try to sell me on any unnecessary work. His Yelp reviews speak for themselves and I couldn't be happier that I checked them when looking for a repair shop in my new neighborhood.
