Made an appointment on Calendly, so seamless and easy. Dropped my car and walked home. Marc called and let me know when everything was set. Note that car inspections don't happen on site, but Marc took my car to a place down the street and got it done very quickly. And it looks like he vacuumed out my car a bit as well, a nice added bonus :) 10/10 will be a return customer read more

We had such a wonderful experience with Marc and his team. We needed to replace a cracked headlight and Marc was able to to do the work quickly and at a super reasonable price. We will absolutely use Marc and his team again and appreciate their help. read more

Marc always performs great service, with integrity. Strongly recommend this spot. Always considerate and I can feel confident in good value. read more

Scam artists , sold us a car with a faulty transmission for 6k and it shit the bed just outside of the 30 warranty and they refused to take accountability and make it right. Do not do business with these people. Offered to fix it for 3k . Scum bags read more

My Audi dealer gave me a quote of $12,000.00 when I informed them of "oil pressure low" NOT when oil level is low. They said i needed new pistons and gears to rebuild the engine. Went to Marc for the first time because something didn't feel right from what Dealer said. Marc is professional and honest. he could have charged half and I would have thought I was getting a bargain. He diagnosed the problem and suggested a more reasonable course of action. Never met a mechanic like him before. Could not be more happy. highly recommended Marc and his Company. read more

Great local garage, very helpful, convenient, and great work! Will be returning in the future.

We took our car here because the check engine light had come on from a wire being chewed by a rodent, which is apparently common in the Boston area. Marc inspected the damaged parts and was able to provide an efficient and cost effective repair. He also went the extra mile and filled up our window washer fluid reservoir that was running low. read more

I called at noon, they fit me in at 2 and let me pick it up right before they closed. Everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating.

Marc was awesome to work with! Very honest and open about what needed fixed, what he recommend we fix, and what could be fixed but was not urgent. After talking me through all of my options, he took me through all of the prices for each repair. After making the repair he walked out into the shop and showed me all of my old parts and exactly what was wrong with them (as he had explained on the phone before fixing). He didn't pressure me into fixing anything and was just very honest and transparent through the whole process. I would highly recommend him and his shop, Four Wheels Auto. Thanks again Marc! read more

This place was fantastic. Great communication, excellent value, and timely service - really felt like they went above and beyond for me. Would highly recommend. read more

Four Wheels is all you could ask for and more in an auto repair shop. I've been there twice- once for an oil change (where he went above and beyond), and more recently to check out a tire pressure notification. Marc quickly diagnosed the problems, gave a thorough explanation to what my options were, and provided a recommendation based on what my plans were for the car. Mechanics and people that know cars sometimes seem like they're speaking a different language- and Marc is the ultimate translator. He answered all of my questions and I can definitely say I learned a few things as part of the experience. I could not recommend Four Wheels enough- any reviews that state otherwise are really old and might as well be for a different business. read more

I just had a fantastic experience with Four Wheels Auto. Marc is kind, professional and personable. Though my car was not having an epic mechanical failure, it wouldn't start this morning and my remote jump starter is dead and we can't find the charger. So, I called Four Wheels after reading really positive things about them and reading about them on Nextdoor. Marc asked about the problem and then said he could stop by since he was in the vicinity. He was here in under 5 minutes, jumped the car, would not take money, and was just completely pleasant. I'm going to bring the car in to get the battery replaced because it is obviously corroded---but that is due to my wanting to be more proactive about it. Marc did not push this at all (for any naysayers out there). I'm excited to support a local business and will update my review as I get to know Marc and this auto-shop better. read more

Marc is the most amazing mechanic I have ever known, and an even better human! He always fixes my car efficiently and with so much care, and always explains everything that is going on (which is usually a lot because it's a 2003 Honda Element). I can't emphasize enough how much I trust him and how happy I am to have a place to go that I know will treat my car with almost as much love as I have for it! HIGHLY RECOMMEND, I tell literally everyone I know who lives in the area to go here. read more

Marc is one of the most amazing humans I've ever met. He not only provides fair pricing, but he makes sure you understand what's going on with your car so you can make an informed decision. He's been a literal lifesaver in more ways than I can count. A+ small business, highly recommend. read more

Straight forward, professional, quick and communicative. My car was done quickly and Marc explained exactly what was going on and what my options were. I'll be going here from now on. read more

Update: I went to put in air in my tires, because Four Wheels did not, and I discovered when they put the hubcaps back on my Honda, they did it wrong, squashing the valve stem of the front, right tire. It was bent at a 90 degree angle, straining the tube. Luckily, that didn't ruin the tire, although it probably shortened its life, but the friction did in fact, ruin the valve cap. Seriously: even first year high-school students in auto repair can put hub caps on correctly. Finally, in doing research for my suit against them, the city clerk recognized their name immediately. She said they have sent investigators down there recently. read more

NEW OWNER There is a new owner, Marc Williams, since early 2016. He is a gem of a mechanic. His way of doing business is 1) look at the problem. 2) Tell you what the problem is, how he will fix it (offering different options and recommendations) and what it will cost. 3) Fix it. 4) Give you a 1-year warranty on the work. I had some exhaust work done in April. Now, in June, something was rattling and banging. I took it back. We went for a ride so he could hear it. Then he fixed it. No additional charge. Then he took me under the car and showed me some potential future issues. "Don't let anyone try to pressure you into replacing this." "This will need to be dealt with, but not right away." "In an ideal world, I'd replace that, but it is not a safety issue." Marc is a joy to deal with. Disclosure: I'm just a happy customer. I'd like to see this small Somerville business succeed. read more

Marc is so incredibly helpful. I drove through a flooded street this afternoon and managed to dislodge a previously broken tire shield. I figured I'd need to replace the whole thing but Marc got it up on a lift within five minutes of calling, bolted and zip tied it back together, and wouldn't take payment for it. Happy to have such a great neighborhood place that won't try to sell me on things I don't need. read more

Marc is perhaps the most honest, and kindest mechanic I have ever met. He has routinely found small things and fixed them no charge where less honest mechanics would have created fake fixes to make more cash. read more

So, for some reason I don't understand, my original review (below) isn't showing up on the Yelp page... But, I'm amending it anyhow. Last month, the Four Wheels crew gave me what I believed was a fantastically direct and honest bill for the work they did on my muffler (replaced the front of the pipe). However, today I got a good look at my car up on a lift. four Wheels replaced only about 12 inches of the pipe, at the front of the vehicle. The entire pipe was rusted out; the muffler was basically disconnected from the pipe, and--according to the mechanic who showed me all of this--this was something the guys at Four Wheels could have fixed/seen at the time that they repaired my car. Instead, they charged me twice what it would cost to fix a very small part of the pipe, and didn't mention that the entire system was rusted out. So, I've edited my review, from glowing to glowering... Original review (now amended--see above) Honest, Reliable, and Excellent Service. Carlos and the crew will offer you clear and reasonable estimates and quick service. I've lived in Somerville for five years, and now--sadly just before moving away--I've found the repair shop for me: a place that will tell me what's wrong, the exact cost for a replacement part, and a reasonable estimate for labor time. I love it when there are no surprises. Recently, after a truck struck my vehicle, I walked in (as a returning customer) to ask about someone surveying the safety/drive-ability of the vehicle. Carlos said, "oh, bring it right in--we'll look at it now," assured me that the car was safe to drive, and sent me on my way (no fee). I can't recommend them highly enough. read more

We were recently in a pinch this week with one of our vehicles and needed all 4 tires put on our truck. We had the tires already and figured out it is right down the street from us which was great. We were given a price for all fours tires to be done. Price was just like all other places that we had called around and checked on. They were the only ones that would do it the same day which was perfect. We asked for a cash discount and were given one without hesitation. However, the time it took to get them done was a little too long. We were late for a client meeting because of the,. We were told about an hour for the service but it ended up taking 3 hours when it really shouldn't have taken that long. read more

I hate going to mechanics -- I'm always nervous I'm getting ripped off. However, Four wheels completely removed any anxiety I had. The staff were patient and thoughtful. They did a great job of explaining things and giving me options. I felt like I could "trust" these guys. My repair was small -- but I would definitely come back for my next repair. What a great small business located in the neighborhood. Five stars! read more

After years of bringing my car to a national chain, I decided to give a local place a try. Four Wheels Auto did a terrific job. Marc was very transparent, personable, and thorough - they even stayed open late to finish the work. I will without a doubt be back in the future. read more

This place was so good that it has pulled me out of a year-long hibernation from Yelp. My brakes didn't seem quite right so I stopped by this neighborhood garage to see if they could quote me a price. I left the car there and got a call a couple of hours later from Carlos, the mechanic/owner. He said the front brakes were bad, but he still needed to check the rear brakes. He'd let me know. Surely he could have told me that the rear brakes were bad too, how would I have known? Nope, he called a 2nd time and said rear brakes were fine and he'd have my car finished by 9 AM the next morning. Picked up my car right on time, paid a wicked good price, and was happy as a clam. This was probably my first experience with a mechanic in which I didn't feel scammed or dicked around. Carlos is a total sweetheart, honest, and really efficient. He did my roommate's car too and she was also really happy with it. Apparently the new owner, Carlos, has only been at this shop for 4 months. Go to him, he's great! read more

Finding a good, honest mechanic is hard work - and often just a result of good luck. Marc is straight forward and friendly. He worked around my schedule (he even includes a key-drop so you can drop off your car when no one is at the shop). I'd recommend Four Wheels Auto to anyone looking for a good mechanic in the Somerville area. read more

We have been wanting to establish a relationship with a local mechanic for some time and a friend recommended Antonio and his staff. We have NOT been disappointed! He doesn't try to sell you things or do things to your car it doesn't need. He takes a more reasonable, less aggressive approach to the repairs (let's try just this and see if that doesn't fix things), tells you what you should expect to see in the intervening time after the initial repair, and encourages you to come back if the first solution doesn't work. In our case, the first solution DID work, saving us lots of time and money. His pricing is very fair, especially for the time he takes. I would recommend him highly to anyone who needs a good, honest mechanic. read more

This place was awesome! I got an oil change, my brakes inspected, and my tires rotated all for only $30! I dropped off my car at 8AM and it was ready by 6PM -- very quick. They were honest and said my brakes did not need to be replaced. Most shops would lie and say they needed to be replaced, even if they didn't, so they could have the extra business. They are also very nice, and easy to communicate with. I will for sure be going here for all of my future car work. Thanks again Four Wheels! read more

I am extremely impressed. I was struggling to remove an extreeeemely difficult bolt on my bike (a rusted bottom bracket) and not only did they take on the challenge, but they persevered despite the fact that it was time consuming and atypical. They clearly enjoy their work, and are very tenacious. I have gotten a very quick and fair priced oil change there once before, and am planning to bring my car there for any repairs in the future! read more

I've been in the Somerville area for a little while now but haven't been able to find a good mechanic. I tried Aris Auto and was really unhappy with the service there since they told me that I needed $850 worth of repair, which I found out after getting a second opinion from my mechanic back home was completely unnecessary. It was really refreshing to find Four Wheels Auto. As a first-time customer, I wasn't expecting any special treatment but was just looking to get a diagnosis. I fully expected that I would need to get another second opinion as I had done with Aris. Instead, Marc at Four Wheels Auto was direct and honest about what needed to be done on the car, and openly communicated this to me. He told me what the problem was and gave me options and his advice for what should be done. Instead of pressuring me to replace a component that did not need replacing, he offered a simple alternative solution. Since no parts were actually replaced, he didn't even charge me for it. My car was in and out of the shop within 3 hours. I will definitely be using Four Wheels in the future. It's hard to find a mechanic that you can trust. read more

I have been a client for years, and I have to say this is a great place to bring your car. I'm the suspicious type -- over the years I've watched my parents bring their car in to auto shops, only to come out with more problems than they came in with. I've been blessed to find a shop that I can trust! I bought my first car from Four Wheels and it lasted a long time and was a great car till the end. Now that I've upgraded to a newer model, I continue to bring my car in for routine checkups. The crew does an awesome job, at a great price, with service I can trust. I would recommend this place to anyone! read more
