I was bummed when the person who hit me's insurance would not approve repair at my normal shop, but this was a hidden gem! I dropped my car off last week, and CLM handled everything with getting additional repairs covered with USAA that were not in their original quote. A week later I have a car that looks great, was cleaned on the inside, and was greeted with friendly service. Good experience, honest people. We unfortunately had a hit and run executed on us one week, which always SUCKS, but CLM made it bearable to deal with it. Dropped off our car, got a quote for the repair, and received the car within the specified timeframe. We picked it up after work one day and were still wearing scrubs, and the ?owner (?Robert) was the one handling our final payment - he gave us a discount out of generosity because we were healthcare workers during the pandemic (maybe also because of the hit and run which is so unlucky) but regardless, really positive experience and I appreciate the thoughtfulness of this gesture. I went to CLM Auto after I found a leak in my power steering; my brother recommended them as a good mechanic for Hondas (which we both have). I gave them a call, told them my issue and got a quote over the phone that was really reasonable ($300 all included). We arranged for me to drop off the car 2 days later and pick it up that same day, which was very convenient for me. A few hours after I dropped it off Robert fro km CLM gave me a call and let me know that my brakes were very worn. He said I could keep driving it but wanted to let me know in case after a few weeks any noises started. The brakes hadn't been changed in a while so it wasnt bbn unexpected. Luckily they were able to replace them same day as well and let me wait to do both sets of brakes until I was ready Overall, CLM was friendly, professional, very convenient and reasonably priced. CLM saved my life! I had the brilliant idea that pulling out of a snow bank would be made possible by pushing REALLY hard on the gas. The result was not happy extraction, but an immobile vehicle and a scary grinding noise that happened when I shifted from drive into park. Everyone thought I had blown my transmission, but when I explained the symptoms to CLM, they reckoned I just needed a new front axle. Two hours and a $50 tow down the street later, this suspicion was confirmed. Phew! Even better, they got the part and fixed my car inside of an hour-- for $150. Simply put, there isn't a better option. I have been referred to this place by a few people, including my own grandmother, and I have yet to find a reason to regret making this my go-to place. My most recent experience started when I came in for an oil change. They informed me that my oil was gone due to severe leakage, and the problem was ultimately the head gasket. I have a Suburu (early 00's), and this is a known issue. To repair the head gasket, the engine, belts and all that stuff have to be dismantled to get to the goodies. Mario gave me a phenomenal deal of paying for the new parts (belts and whatever else), but not being charged for labor of replacing the belts! The total cost was less than $1000, and I honestly don't think that is a price that could be beat anywhere else. These people truly go above and beyond with the services that they are willing to provide to their customers. They are honest, do not try to wring out as much $$ as they possibly can from the unsuspecting like most places do, and actually try to save you money. In addition, they are very knowledgeable and passionate about what they do, and I feel confident that my car, or any car, is in good hands with these guys. read more

The control for my rear view mirrors broke - Robin was able to not only provide guidance as to where I could order the new piece I needed but one of his mechanics installed the replacement in a matter of minutes and didn't charge me. I couldn't reach CLM by phone so because I was nearby I went there to ask when they could look at my car's power steering. Mario told me to bring the car in because it might be something simple he could fix right away. When I returned with the car I was ignored for so long I almost decided to leave. Mario finally came out to the waiting room and seemed really annoyed that he had to look at my car. He was even more annoyed that the car was parked on the street (there was no place to park on their property). He immediately said I needed windshield wipers without looking at them, then complained that he couldn't get the hood open (said I must not ever open it, when he just didn't pull hard enough on the lever). He said I needed a belt, which seemed to be true, and said it would cost $200 with the windshield wipers. When I told him I could replace the wipers myself, he slammed down the hood, said "I don't want to fix your car" and walked away with my keys. When I yelled "where are my keys," he said they were in the car and pushed the key fob button to lock the doors. If the door had been closed I would have been locked out of the car. Then he came back, shoved the keys at me, and walked away. Another mechanic replaced the belt for $110. I was shocked by the reprehensible way I was treated at this business, and I suspect that it was because I am a woman. Avoid CLM if you don't want to be subjected to similar treatment. read more

My usual mechanic doesn't work on brakes. Instead, I was referred to a misc place not on Yelp (Tom's Auto?) which provided a higher estimate than what CLM charged me. CLM is the best auto repair shop I have come across. They are honest, affordable, fair, and make repairs very quickly. I have a 2001 Audi S4 (An expensive and tricky car to make repairs on) I brought my car in at 930 am on wednesday. I didnt know what was wrong, but the brakes werent working well, and I was hearing alot of metal scraping noises when I drove and the E-brake light was on. The guys at CLM were very quick and straightforward. They told me what it could be and that they would asses the damage and call me. I got a phone call by noon telling me everything that was wrong. Apparently I needed all new front brake pads, a bearing of some sort, some undercarriage work, rear calipers, and some other minor things. They repaired everything for just $650! The car was ready that day, and drives like new! They also went above and beyond and cleaned a ton of duct-tape residue off my car door (which I had been trying to remove for weeks). Overall I am very happy with my experience. CLM auto was a pleasure to deal with. They went out of their way making numerous phone calls to make sure I got the cheapest used parts for my car. These guys are great. They have been keeping a couple of my co-workers cars running for years for much longer than the cars would have typically run, and when I got back to town and needed a go-to garage for mine and my wife's cars, it was CLM that we were directed to. Very friendly people, fair pricing, and they do what they say they are going to do. So we have been there for brake service, battery service, oil changes, and a little collision repair and the experiences have been great every time. Location-wise they are wicked convenient (I work around the corner) but they are also accessible by the 69 bus, the CT2 bus and are not far from Union of Inman Squares. There are a lot of options for car repair in the morass of shops and junk yards in that area, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend CLM. A good mechanic is hard to find. Also, they have a new waiting-room-area with chairs, a tv, and a cool fish tank, if that makes any difference to you. read more

I sent the car to them in the morning with two undiagnosed problems that had the potential to be quite pricey (transmission and cooling system). I got a call in the afternoon with a diagnosis that was quite reasonable. They could've easily claimed things were much worse than they were, and I was shocked that I was going to get away with paying $335 for two repairs. The car was ready the next afteroon and despite the fact that the guy said it took much more labor time than expected, they held to their initial price. The guy at the front desk (Mario?) stopped what he was doing (and the shop was hopping, he had a lot to do) to do a careful inspection and tell me all of his observations about the car. The dude has X-ray vision, a knack for explanation, and the work ethic of a squirrel. His inspection was first rate and didn't cost a dime. It was a positive experience. I'd be glad to go back.
