Amazing amazing service! I made an appointment to get a headlight fixed and Murph was extremely accommodating when I asked for a last minute oil change, too! Additionally, I've had a huge dent on my bumper for the past year and he fixed that too- it looks good as new! He is super quick and kind and you can't beat the price either! I know I'll be coming back for any further work- thank you, Murph and team! read more

Murph is the best! His team is fantastic, providing great service, communication and they explain everything they're doing thoroughly and are happy to answer any questions. I come here for routine maintenance but I know if something happened to my car I can rely on Murph and his team to get it done well and give me their honest opinion. Prices are fair, definitely worth the drive to have a trustworthy mechanic. read more

I think Zone Kar deserves one star more than any other business on Yelp. Six stars for Murph and his crew! Besides being a skilled, honest, and fair mechanic, Murph is a beautiful human being with an impressive personal history. Bring your car to Murph with confidence. Feel the love! read more

Murph is so honest and straight forward! He's completely trust him to figure out what is needed and get our car back on the road as fast as he can! Really appreciate his hard work fixing an old car-trustworthy and reliable! read more

I've been going to Murph since I bought my new Honda Crv in 2024! It's been the best experience I've ever had with any mechanic in my lifetime! Not only is he Honest but he always provides high quality work! Hands down the friendliest and best service in and around Boston! read more

My usual mechanic was pretty booked up and I needed a transmission fluid change. Luckily I live close enough to Car Zone at their new location where its walking distance. I called them up and Murph was very nice to fit me in their schedule within couple of days. On the day of the appointment I got a time estimate around 12 noon but he was finished before 11am very efficient. I was quite surprised he actually sent me a video of the fluid coming out too at first I thought it was a scam number lol. Definitely a very passionate small business owner that just want to do their best for their customers. I would be coming back for regular appointments for sure for my car needs. read more

Had my 4 brake pads and rotors replaced very Good service and honest estimate Very friendly and will definitely return and recommend. 5 star service read more

Murph is amazing. Someone from my church recommended me to him a few years ago and I always go to him for repairs now. He is so honest and trustworthy. One time I was hearing a noise everytime I drove my car. I asked him to take a look and after he did, he told me what it was and said, "you could pay around $800 to get it fixed...or if you are okay with the noise, you don't need to replace that because it is not putting you in danger." So I didn't. Most recently I had someone that did my oil change tell me I needed new rear brake pads and rotors and give me the amount it would cost if they were to do the repair. I told Murph what they said and he gave me a lower estimate for the same work. I took my car to him and about 20 minutes after I dropped it off, he called me and said I could return to the shop to pick up my car because my brakes were like new and did not need to be replaced! The other shop that had done my oil change (Eli's in Arlington) was obviously trying to make some money off of me. Highly highly recommend! read more

Murph is great. He's been servicing my car for 6+ years. He's fair, friendly and helpful, and he always offers cost-saving options when the dealer wants an arm and a leg for parts that Murph knows I can get elsewhere for much less. Multiple times he's suggested that I order the needed parts online -- and told me exactly how and what to get -- and then he installed them. BTW, his shop moved to Boston Avenue (at Alewife Brook Parkway) about a year ago when the building's landlord sold to developers. He currently rents shop space inside "Sam's Gas". I got an oil change, brakes, AC recharge, replaced struts, and repaired front grille today. I hope he's able to find a more permanent shop space, but the real estate market is tough these days. I've lived in Somerville 20+ years, and he's an asset to the neighborhood. read more

Went for an oil change, it was quick, easy and cost efficient. He gave me further guidance on how to take care of my new car. The new location (near Alewife) is close to Wholefoods, which has a seating area and Wifi. I wish he had not moved, and it means I will have to drive extra 15 mins to get there, but well worth it. read more

The perfect example of a no bullsh*t, honest business. Have had full confidence bringing in my '08 Prius for any issues, from a routine oil change to leaking tires. Best endorsement I can give them is when I first brought my car to them in 2021 cause of a stolen cat converter as a relatively new driver, they treated me with respect and gave me multiple options for the repair that let me make the decision that fit my budget. They know their stuff and I trust them to tell me straight up what my options are. Will make the drive down from Watertown every time. read more

I'm so glad I found an honest mechanic. Murph really cares about his clients and does great work at reasonable prices. I highly recommend his shop. The shop is now attached to a gas station, just fyi for customers that have not been to the new location. read more

Quick, honest, and affordable service. I called Zone Kar last week to check out some seized tire valve caps on my car. Murph was able to schedule me for the following day, and service was complete in less than an hour. He's very approachable, and I'll be returning for future maintenance. read more

If you care about your car and your wallet, Car Zone will take care of you. The success of this business is based on the owner Murph's transparent and efficient work ethic which has won him a large and loyal customer base (lines of cars routinely out to the street). He's also a genuinely decent guy who is always ready to help solve your car-related concerns. As an example, recently I had somewhat of an emergency and called the shop about half an hour before opening planning to leave a voicemail and get a call back a few hours later (mornings are very busy for them). Not only did Murph pick up the phone despite the early time, he was super nice and got me in also. What more can I say except thank you for being so responsive, it means a lot to your customers and validates our trust! Highly recommended. read more

Came to Murph for another repair job that I was nervous to do myself (would have taken hours + uncertainty). I brought parts (no need, I just had them), went to a nearby coffee shop to settle in, but within 1.5 hours I received a call saying it was done. Came back, was shown through a test drive that the problem was fixed, and got a couple of very helpful tips from Murph and his team member. Sadly, I am moving out of the area, but am excited to see his shop up and running again. They are a very busy team -- the lot was full of cars. Appreciate Murph and team a lot for being super awesome to work with! read more

Been here twice now and they are the best. Can call same day and have my car looked at that day. Clear communication throughout the process and the service is friendly, efficient and honest. Can always trust their opinion on what's needed as well. read more

I have a 13 year old car that needed a new AC compressor. The initial estimate was over $1500. But Murph was willing to work with me, helping to order the part online. The part was over $500 cheaper. He gladly installed it and now I have AC and saved over $500. Murph is great! read more

One of the best repair guys around. The point is not that other mechanics can't do the same job with equal precision, its that these guys are just very genuine and honest. They are amongst the few places that aren't trying to squeeze every dollar out of your car problems but instead help you back on the road while saving you the most. This is evident by the fact that you can go buy your own parts and they will simply charge labor. Most shops will try to pad some profits to the par'ts price plus labor. At Zone car, Murph doesn't care about thr bottom line but simply loved repairing cars. Check em out.. Btw, they are super busy so dont count on walking in for a quick fix. read more

Murph is fantastic to work with. He breaks down the cost of everything, explains the problem with helpful clarity and will take you into the shop to show you the issue. On top of that he is ridiculously friendly and easy-going! I really thought all these reviews were too good to be true, but my experience mirrors everything others have already said. These guys are a real gem and we are happy to keep supporting this stellar local business. read more

I am but one more voice adding to the chorus of glowing reviews for Murph. The AC on my Toyota Camry was acting up during the heat wave in Boston/Cambridge. We'd brought it to Valvoline the week beforehand to check the coolant - no problems there. Murph is obviously very busy but did a great job of juggling all of his clients, including me. After my boyfriend and I explained that we had already checked the coolant, he immediately honed in on the car compressor as the culprit. He charged nothing for the consultation fee / assessment. Repairing it would cost $1200 at a Toyota, but he advised us to purchase the part online and bring it in - he would charge for labor only. He guided us on exactly which part and brand to buy that would be reliable and was able to predict the final cost with accuracy: $200 for the part, $400 for the labor. The process was straightforward and transparent throughout - he was happy to let my engineer boyfriend watch what he was doing and explain along the way. read more

Murph and his team are gold. They are extremely knowledgeable, communicative and easy to work with. Figuring out the best, most economical plan of action feels like a collaboration with them, and we never feel silly asking questions. We had a less-than-stellar experience at a flashy garage in Cambridge (you know the one) when our car failed its inspection. I didn't feel comfortable leaving the car there for repairs, so we took it straight to Murph at his new location on the Somerville/Medford line for his opinion. He gave us an honest evaluation, told us exactly what we needed and ended up saving us hundreds of dollars. Not to mention, his team went above and beyond in helping us get our re-do inspection. Go to Zone Kar, you won't be disappointed. read more

An honest mechanic is hard to find. Murph is the man... he will tell it to you straight, show you and explain things to you if you're not familiar with cars, and I fully trust what he says. So long as he's in business, I'm going to him. read more

Car Zone has the most honest and friendliest mechanics I've ever come across! Murphy and his team explained all the issues going on with my car so well, didn't force me to fix everything at once, and always direct me where to buy/order parts with the best prices in mind. They are fast, efficient and communication was great from my first call to bring the car in, updates while they fixed the issues, to when to pickup the car after everything was all set. They also recommended a great place for an inspection and steered me away from another place that is known for scamming! read more

Murph at Car Zone has been extremely helpful, and always informative. I've been taking my 2009 VW to Car Zone for two years, and they've provided better service, at a lower cost, than the local dealerships. They recently replaced some valves when my engine wasn't running very smoothly. After a few days, the check engine light came back on, I brought it back, and Murph said they would send the parts back to Volkswagen, and put in replacements. After doing this multi-hour job a second time, they didn't charge me, even for the labor. Car Zone is a little out of the way, but I've found I can walk a few blocks, to Union Square or Cambridge Street, and get a bus or a blue bike, to wherever I need to be while my car is getting fixed. Highly recommended. read more

First of all, I never write Yelp reviews, but I felt compelled after the amazing experience I had at Car Zone. I called early in the morning about a tire with a slow leak. The person who answered the phone was very friendly and said to come right in. When I got there, he asked that I pull up and they would take a look. Alex was working in the garage, was also very friendly, and got right to work. It all happened very quickly. He took the wheel off, found the screwed in my tire, and removed it. He then repaired the tire and refused to accept a payment. I offered him $20 for a tip and he said no, but I could give it to the two younger guys he had working with him in the garage. I understand that I didn't have a huge or time-consuming repair problem, but it is so rare nowadays to find a business owner who is willing to do anything free of charge. It's called superior customer service and, to me, it is a lost art. The men at Car Zone excel at it. I will definitely be back and cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you! read more

I fixed my tired here. And service is the best. The owner is very friendly and very honestly!!!

If you like saving time, Make sure to make an appointment! I called the morning of when I wanted an oil change and they were able to accommodate me. When I arrived (on a random Thursday morning) about 6-7 people in the span of 20 minutes walked in asking about various issues with their car that needed fixing-- the answer was the same: I will look into it and call you later today. Anyways, Murph was super nice and my oil change was cheap. I'm happy. read more

The only place where I called in and they quoted a lower price for having my own oil, only 20$. I was given quotes in Malden, MA from 50 to 70$ where there's little ($2) to no change in price even when oil cost 30$... I also have AC issue, which they said can only be fixed starting April (they sent off the equipment for maintenance/calibration). Seems like a legit business. read more

Murph deserves another 5 star for sure. He diagnosed the problem of my engine and suggested a way cheaper way to fix. I have never experienced this in any other auto shop. I am thankful for him!!!! I was first to review over 7 years ago and nothing has changed! I recently moved back to the city and brought my same '09 Jeep Wrangler to Murph. I've been looking for a good auto person for a while. Brought my 2010 Subaru Impreza in for a general checkup and to get a passenger side pad underneath the car fixed (it had been dragging along the road before I duct taped it up :P). Came in at a little after 8am and only had to wait about 45 minutes for them to finish everything, even with one person in front of me. The team was great, surprisingly only charged me for the oil change, didn't find anything wrong with the car and didn't even charge me for the time to check the car OR for fixing the pad. I was shocked. Autozone had quoted me something like $150 and a 3 hour+ wait the last night I tried to get this fixed (hence the duct tape). Writing this review because I wanted to add to the good feelings about this place, also need to have it bookmarked for the next time my car needs any type of repair! read more
