I've had a car for over 60 years and have used AutoZone off and on for parts buying parts.. However, recently, have been so impressed with AutoZone as a company, primarily because of the assistance and customer service of Brandon A. He is not only professional and of great assistance in knowing the product line, but also in installing them. He is kind and unpatronizing and patient. When something is not available or not appropriate, he is able to provide answers or will take the time to look up what might work. Brings a great degree of excellence, customer service, and more importantly, knows how to engage customers to consider things that they might not know. But I am also impressed with his ability to get along with his colleagues, assist them when needed, and his knowledge of AutoZone's offerings. He alerted me to the reward service and how to use AutoZone. A real asset to the company and this store. I hope he has a long history with AutoZone. His management, customer service, and knowledge about parts and alternatives are the best I have seen in sales of auto parts . I ordered some parts and paid for them online, i used this location on Washington St in Somerville because they were the only location that had all my parts in stock. I live about an hour away from this location, this was a Sunday and i really needed the parts to finish the repair. I called store to make sure the order was received, was told they were picking my order. I left my house figuring that the parts would be picked by the time i got there. When i arrived, i saw that they were extremely busy. My parts weren't picked yet, i did have to wait for a short time, but the staff made sure that i had all my parts that i needed even though they were extremely busy. This was my first time to this AutoZone. I needed a dashboard light diagnosed and I had a question about some rubber that was pulling away from my car. The staff member who diagnosed my dashboard light was friendly and fast. The other staff member who came outside to see the rubber issue was a total sweetheart and ended up running in and out of the store to grab things to try to help. Despite the heat and my cluelessness, he was cheerful and helpful and I wish he worked at every service place I go to. It's very nice to walk into a place for the first time and get such good service. It doesn't happen everywhere, but it definitely happened at AutoZone last night. read more

I was assisted by Moses, who went above and beyond when I called in advance to arrange to visit this AutoZone location to have my battery, starter, and alternator tested. He explained how the tests could help confirm the cause of the problem I described to him on the phone. When I arrived he determined that my battery was the primary cause, determined that it was in warranty, and replaced it free of charge under the warranty conditions. He also gave me advice on how to maintain the health of the battery in the future, and installed rust protectors that I had originally purchased with the battery that was being replaced but had not gotten installed. He was very friendly and relatable, a relief in an often socially cold metropolitan area. read more

Moses, the store manager, is absolutely fantastic. Top-notch customer service. I had bought a 2.25 ton, low-profile jack for my garage and found it was badly damaged when I got it home. There was an insert in the box that instructed to call the manufacturer for warranty claims, and to NOT return the jack to AutoZone. I spent the past 3 months calling the manufacturer weekly, and sending them emails, all of which went unanswered. Upon calling the store to explain the situation and hopefully reach some resolution to my issue, Moses was incredibly kind, understanding and accommodating. He told me the hours he would be at the store and to come by to get this resolved. After a friendly chat at the register, Moses completed my return and refunded the cost of the jack (they didn't have another in stock to replace the damaged one). To me, he was using the stereotype (a tiny Asian lady does not know how to fix her car) to judge me and keep telling me "I don't think you can fix those." Such behavior made me feel like his inferior, even though as his customer, part of my purchases contribute to his salary. read more

It's a sad testimony to the quality of customer service these days that I feel obliged to write a Yelp review for simply receiving repeatedly competent, friendly service. But that's exactly what these guys are: Incident #1: (grainy security camera shot of Peter walking into store in a hurry) Me: "Hey, do you guys have a 12mm hex bit for a 1/4 inch drive?" Store guy: (not even a pause): "No problem, 2nd aisle, 10 feet down on the left" Incident #2: (closeup, dramatic lighting) Random girl: "Um, I think I need oil for my car, the little light is on" Store guy: "Sure, let's go take a look at your car and see what you need" Incident #3: (avante garde high contrast black and white) Me: "I need a buffing pad for a 30 year old buffer I found on craigslist" Store guy: "Hmm. This will probably work, but if it dosen't just bring it back for a refund. Don't worry about the packaging, it's all good". I called early to change the low bean light ball and the customer's service it's ok. I show up and talked to George ( gray shirt ) a black male. I asked few question and asked he could help me change it for me. he did not mention a single word, ( i thought he was deaf )also with attitude, just showed me the product and price on his computer without a single word or answer. I stand there for a minute and finally he said; are you gonna buy it? I walked to another employee; kamul ( Indian guy ) he was very helpful and help me change the light for me. I asked who's the guy with the gray shirt and he said it's one of the manager, are you kidding me? Ppl with this attitude shouldn't be a manager especially in services. I've gotta admit that I was pretty anxious about my car's battery - of course it dies on the day we're supposed to drive out to New Hampshire with two other friends. Plus I didn't really have time to get a battery fixed. In any case, from the moment I walked in and talked to Moses at the register, he was calm and disarming. Nobody is exceedingly happy, and anyone who raves about the cleanliness of an auto part store ain't doing it right. But I will say, with a usually unpacked parking lot, their free rental tools and use of a gadget that tells you, point blank, your whip's battery is now a paperweight, it's not a bad makeshift driveway for basic repairs/replacements. With a little elbow grease, you can unload the old, pop in the new and be on your way to whichever overpriced coffeehaüs you prefer. And that dead core will save you $12 off the already competitively priced batteries, not to mention $50 in labor for 10 minutes of wrench-cranking... And now this review is PG-13. Couple this sauciness with running deals on basics (octane booster, windshield wiper fluid, king size Snickers) and you've got an A-OK store for self-governed vehicular upkeep. read more

Customer service is all over the place. One sale associate was super helpful and friendly, while another sale associate gave customers an attitude problem when a question is asked. The unhelpful sale associate just ruins the whole shopping experience for the entire store. I'm going think twice about going back here again. read more

I had two terrible experiences here. I went in to see the best way to fix the cracked cover to my tail Light. The man at the counter looked at me like I had 5 heads. I brought him out to see what I was talking about, he had me turn on my car test the brake lights. I said it's not the lights it's the cracked cover. He says your lights are fine. I know they're fine I'm here for the CRACKED cover. He orders me a part, and I am still not sure he knows what I am talking about. Sure enough, I go to pick up the part and it's not the right thing. He again seems confused about what I am saying. Finally he says, I don't think we have that part, but you can just fix it with this tape. When we tried to get his advice on the best option he was again unhelpful and condescending. I felt like I was run around and treated like I was dumb for no reason. read more

Yes, this place gets Aamir's coveted 5-star rating. The battery on my 2nd car died, so I bought a battery charger/starter online at Advance Auto Parts. When I went to pick it up in the store 6 hours later, they didn't have my order in their system.In fact, it wouldn't go through till the next day. Not wanting to buy the same product for a higher price in store, I decided to try my luck at Autozone a short walk away. As soon as I pulled in, I noticed signs in the window that said "Free tool rental" & "Free battery charging". I went in and asked to borrow jumper cables. My car with the dead battery was parked 1.5 miles away at home, and their policy is to not allow you to take tools outside of their lot (for obvious reasons). However, I spoke to the manager real quick and he was more than happy to oblige. 1 hour later, I had jump started the 2nd car and was back at Autozone to return the cables. At this point, I asked if I could get my battery charged. The rep said "Of course", and handed me the tools to take my car battery out (a simple job). I handed him the battery, went to target nearby for some errands and coffee, returned an hour later and put a fully charged battery back into my car. All this for a grand total of $0! I've been to this place before once to buy a snow brush for my SUV. The manager (I think his name is Manny) went out of his way to find a superior quality one with an extendable arm & foam tips. I can't tell how much time this has saved me this winter. Needless to say, I'll be going to this store first from now on! read more

Cops and Robbers and Bulbs Sometime in 2005 The Bush Administration had a Nationwide Homeland Security Sweep. It was one day. Every single State Trooper and Beat Cop in the country was in on it. They were instructed to stop anyone, anything, for any cause and check it out. Thousands were arrested and deported that day. I can't find it on Google or the NY Times strangely. I had a headlight out that day, so I was swept. Some state trooper vehicle came roaring after me, tearing down Boyleston the wrong way, against traffic, swerving and stopping in front of my car. Had flashlights http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews_index/reviews_top_picks.htm stuffed in my face, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODQXoq_9lso&feature=related got wrote up, joked that it was only 100 bucks, and sped off for his next prey. Was not this demoralized since a traffic cop shoved his revolver in my face over mistaken identity. (Do I really look like every other asian kid on the block?) I looked down at my ticket and saw that the fine was $0.00. Dude was totally yanking my chain. I read the NY Times article the next day and was incensed. (It takes a lot, and you don't want to get me mad.) Ever since then, I keep spares of every bulb in my cars. And I got a few Boston Police hats. Because these sweeps still happen all the time. Of course, I was short the one spare I need today--the first cold snap took out one of my headlight bulbs. So figured I'd up my FTR by choosing an auto parts store not reviewed yet. I'm kidding, it was the closest one. This AutoZone was well stocked and for the first time, I found the part quickly with a competent sales clerk. Excellent. Less than 5 minutes and I had 2 matched 3200 Kelvin bulbs running at 55 watts for 23 bucks. I'm happy. I'll install them myself later, because I'm all grown up now. read more

I've been here a few times to pick up a few different things ranging from cans of seafoam to keep my motorcycle running strong and too replace a few bulbs in my lady friend's car that bit the bullet. My experience here has never been bad. As a gentleman who is somewhat mechanically inclined it didn't take long for me find the seafoam, carb cleaner, oil, and other basics that one needs to perform their own maintenance on their ride. However, when it came to replacing the parking lights on my lady's sporty little coupe I had no idea what they were, and I couldn't read the writing on the bulb to save my life. That's the clerk behind the counter came through! He asked me for the make, model and year of her car and then BOOM! He was all like you need a 168 in aisle 1. Bulbs are about halfway down! I was in and out of there in a flash and even picked up some fancy air fresheners too! read more

Great experience here. My car battery died - and I needed a new one....that someone could install for me. I called over at 7am on Sunday (they were one of a few places open) and they said to come in anytime. In my experience this place, especially the employees, were outstanding. I had a battery die and somehow got my car into their parking lot. Most of these places just up-sell you on the best products, print you out a receipt and say "good luck". First, I called them on the phone because I had no idea where the closest one was. The guys stayed on the phone with me throughout my drive and were my own personal Garmin to get me to their store. Then, they provided me with the tools to fix my car (because I was coming from work and had nothing but a BlackBerry on me) but the bolts were corroded and stripped and they snapped in half in the parking lot. The guys actually came out to my car and spent quite a while helping me get the old bolts out and getting the new battery in! Who does that? That is old school customer service and actually giving a $%#$# about their customer. I was very impressed that people do that anymore. I have tools at home and I probably could have called AAA but these guys went above and beyond for nothing more than a "thank you". Top marks from me. read more

I was told by the guy who did my last oil change that he tested my battery and it was weak, so I needed to buy a new battery. I came to Yelp and decided to visit this Autozone due to the positive reviews here. I was not steered wrong. As soon as I stepped into the store a staff member greeted me and asked me if I needed help. I told him I needed a new battery and he offered to test my old one first. I figured a second opinion was not a bad idea. Long story short, Francis, the staff member, took all the time needed to not only test my battery, but clean the leads, explain the ins and outs of battery maintenance, and then retest my battery, starter, and alternator. Instead of spending $100 or more for a new battery, I spent nothing and got excellent service and a ton of info on how to keep my car in good shape. OK, I did end up buying some battery acid cleaner, but that was of my own volition. Thanks to Francis I saved a lot of money and learned something too. I'll definitely be back to this store! read more
