I reached out to them about swapping my car's transmission valve body. I have a pre-programmed Ream Man valve body ready to go. The guy I spoke with stated: "it could be a problem. we don't want to do it". I am a bit confused why a transmission shop will refuse to swap a transmission valve body because "it could be a problem?". I'd be very hesitant to send a car to a transmission shop that doesn't have the skillset to swap a valve body. If you go on YouTube, non-mechanics are doing valve body swaps on their driveway. read more

I had a transmission issue where my check engine light was on also the "D" for "drive" light was blinking. The car while driving it felt like it was slipping gears. I parked my car in my driveway and I looked at my car manual. My car manual said it was a transmission issue and bring it to a certified specialist or a dealer. I took my car to Everett Transmission. They scanned it and told me it was two frayed wires in the transmission, total price after fixing it $245. This was awesome !!! Came here for replacement timing belt and water pump. Great prices and friendly service--polite, accommodating, and always answer the phone. Found this shop on RepairPal when costing out some suspension work which had been quoted to me at another shop for $1400. RepairPal said that price was jacked way up so I went with their recommendation and got it done for $700. Had a needed transmission flush while I was in also and happy with that price as well. Buyer beware. I brought my car to them awhile ago for struts and they removed my factory equipment and put in foreign autoparts int'l aftermarket parts (not even Monroe quick struts) and they failed miserably for 500 bucks. Now year or so later brought my car to dealer and was told they left parts out and had to put factory equipment struts and springs etc back in to the tune of 1400 bucks. This is the best mechanic shop I had to do business with in my entire life. The best comment I can say about Al is this: He is an Angel on earth! He is very experienced, extremely honest, helpful, gracious, and will look after your interest. I had taken my Kia Sedona to the dealer in Lynn and they recommended to replace the transmission that would have cost me a lot of money, but Al proved them wrong. The transmission was still in a good condition, but a wire was damaged. Al repaired my car in a short period of time and helped me to save money. After having several transmission issues with my 2002 Odyssey van I consulted Yelp and Google reviews and found this shop. Called and talked with the owner and made arrangement to drop off for full analysis and their recommendation. Louis handled the check-in and very capably explained the process they would use and the estimated costs of the likely options they would have. He called later in the day, just as he promised he would, and gave me the options. I chose the remanufacture because of the 3 year/100,000mile nationwide warranty. He said he would need three days to turn it around which fit my schedule, but I told him I really needed it by 4pm of the third day to take family members to Logan for an international flight. Louis called me a day early to say that the van was done early because he knew I really needed it on time. When I picked it up I then scheduled a time for them to do a timing belt replacement. This is one of the most friendly, competent and professional car repair shops I have ever used and I find their prices to be very reasonable, especially considering that this is Boston and not rural Virginia where my wife and I lived before moving here to be with my son and his family in retirement (assisting with childcare logistics). This van works really well for our current situation and I hope to get another 3-4 years of service out of it. My one wish? That I would have done my search for a great transmission shop at the first indication of trouble. The level of diagnostics that these folks do is extremely good and they really know transmissions. Would likely have saved me about $600 that I paid for a temp sensor replacement and three transmission flushes. read more

I have a 2007 Avalanche that developed an annoying vibration maybe 8 years ago. Since that time, the truck had been to no less than 7 other repair shops. Many of the driveline parts had been changed to no avail. I was throwing money into an old vehicle and was about to get rid of it. I researched and found Al online. I am way over due for this review. I just wanted to let everyone know how good this place is. I brought in my boyfriend's car because he had some issues with his car's transmission. I met Al the owner of the shop, and we began talking, he asked me some questions about the car, and he was very sweet. He has also lived in Everett for a couple years now so he is very familiar with the area. Al was very kind enough to call my boyfriend's dealer and found out I could take his car there instead, and all the work for the transmission would be covered since it still is under guarantee. He found that out for me when I had completely forgotten to ask my boyfriend about this first. Al did not have to do that, anyone else probably would have just taken my money, but Al was very kind enough to do that. I appreciate his honesty so much. A dead transmission is, by definition, an emergency. Let me start off by saying I know NOTHING about cars. My 4Runner had died while driving very late and we had it towed to a local garage as we had no idea what was wrong. After having the car for a couple of days, the garage came back with an estimate of $5800 for the transmission and radiator. This for a used transmission that only had a 30-day warranty. As we are planning on keeping the car, that made me nervous. After calling the Toyota dealer ($4200 - better but still high and only a 1-year warranty) I called Everett Transmission based on their Yelp ratings. Kyle was extremely patient and explained my options. They rebuilt the transmission (we only have 120k mi on a 15-year-old vehicle), replaced the radiator, installed a by-pass cooler so the problem could never happen again and gave me a 3-year warranty. Best part? They came in at $3400. They ended up having to do a couple of other small things, but stuck to their estimate. Car was fixed promptly. Nice people with a sense of humor. Good to support a local business. Would definitely go back (but hope I don't have to!) read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!! they were horrible.. my transmission was slipping so I towed my car to them and they said they would take care of me. When I picked my car he did not touch my transmission. He left the key in the igination and the battery was dead when I jumped in the car and tryed to drive away. Also, when I drove away when he had to jump me and my car started overheating b/c they broke my cap that holds my antifreeze, not to mention they charged me $600 dollars. Worst experience ever. If I can give less then 1, I would. When I first brought my truck there to ha e the transmission repaired they supposedly finished the repair, but the problem still existed. My truck is my money maker, I drive all the time and can't be left without it, they returned it back with a "complete over haul" on the transmission. I noticed my bumper was dented and my left exhausted broke. When I said something to them they yelled and argued stating that it was their fault and that I brought it in that way. No, I didn't and if I did the number would have actually have scratches or dents insinuating that I caused it but it did not, it was on a lift and the echo didn't properly check his surroundings before dropping my vehicle. When I picked it up it still continually had the same issue so, they insisted they will inspect it for a week to find the problem. This is hard for me because now I live in Pittsburgh and have to return it and be without for for a long period of time. I took it to the dealership and paid to have it inspected. They put in the wrong transmission fluid, if they can call it that. They overfilled the case and still managed to have it leaking. Everett transmission wouldn't even compensate me for a rental so they can properly fix my transmission. I paid enough money so that it can be fixed but it isn't. I went to do a deep cleaning in my vehicle because when I picked it up it smelt like grease and I had grease stains all over my door, shifter, center console and seats. I noticed that my center console cup tray is cracked from when they removed my transmission. Now i don't have the money to go to a proper place that is reputable to get my transmission fixed and this has caused me to get my vehicle repoed because now all it does is sit in the driveway not being able to functionally drive and I don't have another $5k to buy a new transmission. read more

My transmission failed so I needed to get it fixed, and towed from my work parking lot. Has a great experience with this little shop. They towed it for me (at no additional charge) and rebuilt my transmission quick. When I went to pick my truck up... the head mechanic/owner came out to show me the old parts, and explained exactly what he did. He basically took the time out to give me a tranmissions 101 crash course!! The girl at the desk was super sweet, and kept me informed with updates while my car was being serviced. I just met with the most kind decent person that I've met in a long time by the name of Al. I just bought a brand new car and was really sure if the transmission was good or not my husband and I brought our car there and Al took a ride in the vehicle and let me know that everything was fine with the car he never even charged me a dime. I really appreciated the fact that he didn't charge me he could have said it there was something wrong with the car and I needed a new transmission got money from me but he never did honesty goes a long way in this world. Just had my 3rd transmission repaired by Alan at Everett transmission ( 3 different trucks over 4 years, 01 dodge, 05 dodge and 02 dodge) each time I have had him rebuild n repair my transmission the work has been thorough and I have never had any problems once I drove off his lot. He breaks everything down and tells me exactly what needs to be done around how much I can expect price wise and always had my vehicles back to me in the same week. I plow a lot and his work stayed strong all throughout this wild winter. I trust his work so much that the last truck I sent there I let him replace major parts in my front end front and rear breaks rotors and even all that work was done perfectly. I called these guys after doing my online homework and Alan was extremely knowledgable and went into detail as to 3 options as to what the probable issue was. I took my 2006 Ford Explorer with 97k miles and a slipping transmission to them on a Thursday night. They contacted me Monday and let me know the issue and fix and price. They then called me Wednesday morning to pick it up. NO increase in cost they quoted ($2900), guys were really friendly on phone and in person. Josh went over the repairs, showed me a really worn piece from the tranmission and let me know about the 2000 mile check up and 20k mile warranty. Transmission rebuild was $2900, but that included an upgrade to solenoids due to car being close to 100k in miles. $2900 to rebuild the tranny and get me rolling again and get my car feeling like it did years ago is well worth the price. And the Ford dealership would have been more $ and a refab tranny, not mine rebuilt. These guys are good. I would recommend to anyone having transmission issues and wants to get great service, quick and quality repair at a fair price. read more

I brought my vehicle to Everett Transmission to repair my transmission. I brought my vehicle back and forth for 2 years to Everett Transmission. I spent money on a new transmission to be put into my vehicle and then a used computer from a junk yard was put into my vehicle which caused further issues on my vehicle. Due to my car not being repaired correctly for 2 years and the amount of money I have paid to Everett Transmission to fix my vehicle properly, I told the owner Alan that I was not going to allow him or anyone else further do work on my vehicle and "try" to repair it. I also asked Alan on multiple occasions for the return of my money due to him being unable to fix my vehicle and problems reoccurring and new problems occurring during the process that he was working on it. Alan refuses to return my money. Do not bring your vehicle here, they do further damage to your vehicle and charge you for repairs when they don't know what's wrong or how to fix it and put junk yard parts into your vehicle. read more
