OK, I'm reviewing a chain but this is my Summer Road Trip I'm taking and I'm reviewing every stop. I said hell with it I'm getting a Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese meal. I rarely eat McDonald's. I love it though. My mom had me at 15 years old and being raised by a teenager you are kind of raised on junk food. I was the only person in the drive through. They accept Debit Cards at the window so that's a plus. My food took a bit longer than normal I thought. It was good though because I got out of my car and rearranged some stuff in the back seat and threw some stuff out. I used the time wisely. So, I understood why my food took so long because it was freaking hot as hell. The fries almost burned my mouth and my burger was so fresh I wanted to open mouth kiss it. Some of the best McY D's I've had in a long time. Well worth my decision to get some. Well worth the fat ass I'm going to get from eating it also. read more

This is our favorite spot during our road trips up north. It always gets SUPER busy in the morning. For instance, the line was out the door at around 8:30am today (5/27/16) and remained that way for a good 30 mins after I finally reached the course. The employees hustle to get everyone their food so the wait time is not too bad. Food is good. Coffee is nice and strong, hash browns are crispy, my Sausage Egg McMuffin was perfectly cooked (nothing is burnt.) There is outdoor seating in a spacious patio and they recently added an additional table w/umbrella outside. Patrons are a lil messy... This place could use someone to be on top of their maintenance especially for the flow of traffic they get. Trashcans are overflowing, restroom supplies need to be restocked, and tables/countertops by the condiments need a wipe down. (Minus one star for this.) read more

Absolutely awful. I ordered a hazelnut latte and the gal behind the register entered incorrectly. They gave me an iced latte and when I asked for it hot they gave me a completely cold coffee. It was so clearly intentional. They smiled away while they handed it to me. That's not customer service. Sorry I put you out by asking for the thing I actually ordered. read more

Have you ever noticed that big chains test their pilot programs in random locations such as Buttonwillow? Perhaps I'm wrong. But whenever we're driving through random dust bowl towns, we stop and notice differences. I am a McDonald's fan. I know that menu like nobody's business. They had an Angus Mushroom 1/3 pound burger on the menu. I was all over that like a crack whore. Seriously. I tried looking it up on the website and it's not even listed. I ordered whatever number it was... with a diet coke. Because, you know that there are people out there that believe that you cancel out the calories by drinking diet soda. Those people are idiots. I don't care who you are. They are FUCKING idiots. When the manager called out my order number, she abruptly handed my bag to me. I noticed that there was a sticker holding the receipt to the bag.... it said, 'DOUBLE CHECKED FOR ACCURACY'. I looked at it, and asked for my soda cup. She told me that my meal didn't come with it. I showed her the special receipt with the bright 'DOUBLE CHECKED FOR ACCURACY' sticker. And I think she wanted to throw the cup at me. Obviously, I embarrassed her with the line that was growing behind me. I really don't go out looking for fist fights. Really, I don't But I believe that she was double checking me for bitchiness. The thing about fast food is that it's: 1) consistent 2) quick Those are about the only things going for it in my book and this place delivered on both of those aspects. This McDonald's is located along a street that also features a pupuseria, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Subway, and a row of gas stations. Unrelated to the food aspect, the restrooms could have been a little cleaner. Perhaps it was just after a busy lunchtime rush with lots of cars stopping in? Not sure. With regards to the food / service, if you are ordering inside and planning to do takeaway, be sure to ask for ketchup. There isn't any sitting out like at other McDonald's locations. read more

I have not been to any McDonalds location in 1 year and 2 months. I cannot believe I even tried it again. This place is ridiculously slow and not a single employee in the entire store gives a damn about anything. I placed a simple order through the automated kiosk then waited, and waited and waited & waited some more when they finally called out my number then I had to beg them for the drink cup. This was early afternoon and there were only 3 people in front me inside the store whom had already placed their order. The drive-thru was slightly busier, but nothing like a peak time would be and they were still just moving like molasses in winter time. On top of all of that the burger was stale and the fries were completely soggy. It's just so lame to get service and products this bad that I am mostly just disgusted with myself for even trying to give them another chance. This location survives on volume alone as it is the only McDonalds in the area off the major freeway. They know they can offer sub-par service and food because people will still buy it simply because there are very limited fast food burger choices near by. First, all the doors are closed and it's only 8:15pm, the bathrooms are low on toiletries. Someone waiting for there order inside opened the door for us. The wait was long, and the line moved slowly. There was only one window open (the second one) at the drive thru, which wasn't really appropriate considering how many cars were in queue at the drive thru. My chicken sandwich was typical. My fries were cold. My drink was a bit watered down. Three stars only because the drive thru employee (youngish Latino male) was incredibly professional and polite, way beyond my expectations at McDonalds, and had a killer smile. Visited recently on our drive from southern California to San Francisco. The McDonalds itself had fast and friendly service and the employees were working hard. But there is a disgusting fly infestation all throughout the parking lot- there were hundreds of flies on our car when we exited the McDs. For this reason alone I will avoid this stop especially with a baby as it makes me question their cleanliness level. We tried circling around so we could eat our food without flies and literally every corner of the lot had flies everywhere. read more

I ordered the big breakfast special and a sausage biscuit meal and both of them were suppose to come with a side of hash brown and they were missing. There were only one register that was open and a long line out the door. It seems like they don't care or aren't staffed properly. And it seems like the place is trying to rip customers off by having them spend money and yet, the item isn't in the bag. And as we were ordering, this lady came to the register to complained about the extra charges she was charged for. However, when we sat down at this dirty table, supervisor must overheard us complain how dirty table was and must have told bus boy to clean up our table and so he did. This is always a must go to place on my drive from NorCal to SoCal and vice versa. Why? Not because it's freaking delicious (well it's McD's their quality is consistent). Not because the service is slamming (Last time I went here, it was actually quite the opposite... very terrible indeed). And definitely not because the prices are super cheap... (Again McD's standard prices unless you're at the airport). Why do I ALWAYS go here? Because its' quick, easy, and this buttonwillow exit has the cheapest gas. That's why. Again, the last time I went here, the service was terrible. It added about 20 minutes to my drive NOT including me scarfing down my meal in no time flat. The alternatives around are some indian place (I dare not test my stomach on a 7+ hour drive), starbucks, subway, carl's jr. and a small small pizza hut/taco bell attached to TA (Also a place where I frequent for the gas). So all in all, decent typical McD's with little competition, so why not? TL:DR. Come here for cheap gas next door. read more

No one at the counter when I came in so I went back to the computerized ordering and ordered lunch. Two of the four machines had out of order signs on them. I picked the only vacant one and ordered. Since I wanted to pay cash I was given no receipt but asked to take an order number and sit down. I did so. Waited 15 minutes while I watched other customers get their food and nothing coming in my direction. Finally a new employee(obviously) came up and said my food was coming out slow because a guy had ordered forty burgers. Other customers had gotten their order so I went and asked another employee about my order. He went back in the cooking area and exclaimed that there was no order for me and asked what I had ordered. The hamburger was fine but someone should tell the person in the back, ketchup should not be oozing out the side of it prior to wrapping. 'Half of my hamburger was covered in ketchup, on the outside. Ketchup Is supposed to stay on the inside of the bun... 'Which leads to the onions, also to be kept on the inside... Not on top of the bun, unless MCD's is trying a new concept, "sesame-onion buns." Yes, I am actually writing a review for a McDonald's. This review is not based on the food because really, all Mickey D's are the same. This McDonald's is a very special place to me because I stop by it every time I make the drive from NorCal to SoCal and vice versa for the past 10 years. It could get extremely packed, especially on a weekend morning. Although the cashiers are pretty cold, they are efficient. They are not as welcoming as other places, but that is understandable since the line here is always so long. The WiFi works great which is a pleasant surprise since this place is in middle-of-nowhere Buttonwillow. The bathrooms are surprisingly clean considering the gazillion people who stop by to just take a potty break. And the menu prices weren't marked up - even though I bet people would pay whatever amount since this is one of the few pit stops on the 5. It's McDonald's - come on. Don't expect quality food or service. And it's BUTTONWILLOW. Just go here, use the potty, get some quick grub, and order a coffee to go, and be on your way! read more

When it comes to writing a review for McDonald's food, but it's pretty much the same. Wherever you go. And that's a good thing. It's a good business model. This review is based solely on my experience and not about the food. It's Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m. I'm traveling through Buttonwillow and spending night, unintentionally. I check in to my motel and immediately start looking for a place to eat. I thought about getting some Mexican food at the local restaurant but they closed a few hours early today. That sucks! I'm a little bit too late to go eat at the local family restaurant. And I don't really want to commit and spend a bunch of money at the Indian restaurant. And I love Indian food! Just not into it right now. Obviously, I didn't plan on eating at McDonald's. But fast food was my only option this evening. I ordered the typical sandwich and fries and drink combination. And it was typical McDonald's quality which was absolutely fine. But what stood out was the staff. That guy that helped me order my food was super friendly and enthusiastic. You should expect that type of behavior at any establishment but let's face it, you don't see it too often. Especially at a McDonald's. And because of the customer service this McDonald's experience ended up being a little bit better then I expected. And as I sat here eating my meal I noticed that the restaurant is very clean. And that totally changes the atmosphere of a fast food restaurant. The meal was fine. But the staffing and cleanliness of this McDonald's was stellar! When I clearly seen my order was placed on the cart. But since I complained why it was taking them so long, they moved it back on top of the paper bags. 4/19/15: I really wanted a McDonald's cone... Rolled up to the drive in prompter and said, "Hi!" And then the girl said the usually greeting. I said, "ice cream cone." No answer. "Hello?" And then "hello?" 5 more times. Then I hard stared at the screen so they can see my eyeballs glaring. "Anybody there?" Then the girl transformed into a man and did the whole greeting all over again. Whateverz Then I waited behind another car while it took them 2min to exchange payment. Rolled up to the payment window, after the car in front moved to the pick up window. 1min. 1 more min. Then 2min. Hmm. Then after 5-7min the car in front gets his food and takes off, leaving just me. And after waiting a total of 7-10min waiting to pay I see a guy at the pickup window waving at me. I roll up to the pickup window and he says, "one dolla." I give him one dollar. Then he holds out his hand and says 8 cents. Yeah, thought there was tax but he didn't say that. Whatever. So gave him 8 cents. He then holds out a crooked and sad looking cone somewhat dripping and oozing. I said, "can I get another one man? That one is melting." Without saying a word he swivels around and whips it towards the floor (assume to the trash). 2min later he comes back with a pristine cone. I said thanks. Then I examined it from all 360deg for spit. Looked good. Then I licked. You know what's better for adding flavor and causing immense salivation than salt on chips?--tapatio on tacos?... MSG on everything? ...waiting 15min at the drive through, windows rolled down sweating in the 90deg sauna, waiting for an ice cream cone! No, you know what makes a cone really really good?--knowing you spent $3 (cause I spent ~15min of idling, burning gas and polluting air) for a $1.08 cone. When I was in high school, I was a choir girl. On our way back from a festival in Anaheim, our buses broke down in none other than Buttonwillow. It was pretty miserable seeing as it was hot and dusty outside, and our options for where to go were very limited. McDonald's made this part of our trip bearable; they have working toilets, air conditioning inside and French fries and ice cream cones. I remember we got t-shirts that said something like "Buttonwillow Breakdown" afterward... I should dig through my junk at my parents' house to see if I still have it. read more

Servers were rude. They rolled their eyes, sighed, told us to "Come on already." After being on the road for 8 hours in a car with no air conditioning, we were tired and needed a little time to think about what we were going to order. We told the cashier when we walked up to the counter that we'd like a little time, but she still hurried us. My friend and I were literally the only customers in there at the time. The time it took us to walk into the door, order our food, and sit down was less than 4 minutes. The cashier complained to her coworker that we were slow, annoying, and stupid. We waited almost 15 minutes for our food to be ready. My friend and I ordered a 20 piece chicken mcnugget, which usually comes with four sauce packets. They put three in. When I told them this and asked for one more, the cashier threw a hissy fit and told her coworker to "Deal with these fucking gringos." (Note: I'm Asian, friend with me is Mexican.) Her coworker told her she was on her own. I was too tired to deal with them, so I sat down without the sauce. This place has fucking issues. read more
