This was a find if you like authentic dive Mexican food, which we do. It's a food truck with a stand-up tent next to it shading picnic tables. Lots of locals stop because the food is good and not crazy expensive. The only downside was that on a very warm summer day at noon-ish, there were a number of flies trying to find some shade too. IIRC, they prefer cash, and charge a bit more to process cards, so be aware of that. We understand why and had no problem with that policy. Overall, we'd gladly stop back and give them our business. The food is much better than a corporate drive-through fast-food restaurant. read more

Pupusas were so good. We were the only customers at the time so food came out pretty quickly, very hot and fresh. There's something special about the coleslaw that came it, so good! It was spiced and vinegar-y, cutting through any heaviness from the pupusas. There's plenty of seating by the food truck under a tent, making it feel like a very simple meal. This was a great pit stop off the 5! read more

We are here right at this moment. A lady took our order while she was eating and left. Half hour pass I told my husband to check how long more for our order. The other worker checked and told us she didn't have our order. Then hubby's pissed. We were starving so we stayed to wait for our food. Anyway we waited another 15 minutes. I just hope that next time they should focus on customers instead of being too busy eating. And must learn more English pls. Good thing there was a nice gentleman to translate what's going on. While the was arguing with us in Spanish which we don't understand. read more

Before ordering we asked for an estimate of how long the wait would be. They told us 20 minutes. We got our food 55 minutes later because they got a large order through the phone. I pretty much always stop here when I'm traveling up or down interstate 5. Fantastic Salvadoran and Mexican food! If you're hungry on the Highway, take the Buttonwillow off-ramp. It's a quick stop, absolutely delicious, friendly service, and quite affordable. read more

Delicious! We ordered pupusas, quesadillas, and lengua burrito- food was fresh and ready fast. Nice stop for our trip up the 5.

I am so disappointed to leave this review. I discovered this place in the beginning of 2025 when work forced me to drive to Northern California. I have consistently come to this place as their breakfast burritos, tacos, pupusa, tamale, especially their chicken tamale wrapped in banana leaf and Chicharron are so good. Originally, I would just pull off the freeway and wait for my food. The last three times I've called beforehand realizing that I could save myself 20 minutes by calling before. This last time, the woman who answered the phone seemed to not understand me, which is OK I'm all good with language barriers, but when I arrived 20 minutes later to pick up my food as I typically order it 15 minutes getting off the Grapevine, not only was all of my food incorrect when I tried to explain that my food was incorrect. I was laughed at and argued with. I had paid for guacamole and was repeatedly told their free green salsa was the same? I have purchased guacamole before and asked for extra green sauce. I have spent well over $600 in the last year at this establishment just driving back-and-forth from northern to Southern California. I have told my friends and family about how good this place is. And all of them have stopped by, I was really disappointed in the way I was treated and the food I received. I will not be stopping by again sadly. I am so bummed as this was such a bright spot in the long drive either to work or getting extra tamales on the way home. read more

Having been eating pupusas at Tita's for over 10 years when driving by this area and every time they're just perfect and delicious! Highly recommend to support this local business. Just called my order in advanced and it was ready for pick up to avoid the wait. read more

The pupusas are delicious. The beans are super flavorful!! There is a little wait of around 20-30 minutes for your food, but they are making your pupusas right there. From the little window, you can watch the senora making the food fresh. We got the pupusa especial (two pupusas and rice and beans), an extra pupusa, the quesadilla pan dulce, and a jamaica. We got a revuelta (pork and cheese), frijole (bean and cheese), and loroco (squash blossom and cheese). Of the three, the s tier was the loroco. It's has an almost meaty flavor and is super flavorful. The cabbage and salsa were also tasty. The quesadilla pan dulce is like a corn pound cake. It's really yummy!! This is a nice stop on your way between the bay and la. There's a covered picnic area that is nice. There are only hand washing stations, but there are a lot of gas station around it, so you can wash your hands and use the restroom around here!! Highly recommend this as a stop!! read more

If you're looking for Taco Bell, keep looking. If you're looking for authentic home-cooked, Salvadoran, comfort food you found it! Everything here, including the tortillas, is handmade from scratch. The soups take 20 minutes minimum and they are AMAZING! The Sopa de Pata is beyond description... I've never seen this foodie gem anywhere else. I came here in hopes to redeem my poor experience with another papusa place while driving around SoCal and this definitely exceeded my expectations!!!! Love how this spot is off the freeway and closes late. Huge papusas for $5 a piece and I don't even mind because they were delicious. So much cheese, the masa was seasoned like it didn't taste like flour, and above all both of the papusas I ordered were so juicy I can't even explain. Love the curtido & hot sauce, I knew I should've asked for more. The main complain I've been reading about this spot is the flies and that's why people docked stars from their review but hello it's not like the owners released them into the air at the dining table themselves. I don't really order pork and cheese papusas but I'm glad I did. I got one of those and a jalapeño and cheese. Both are delicious. Definitely wish I had ordered some more to eat at home lol Anyway, definitely try this place if you been craving Salvadoran food!!! Tacos were cool too but definitely grab some papusas. Next road-trip I know where I'm stopping at. Tips: order ahead because they take their time cooking their food. They cook to order!!! To avoid the bugs- go eat in your car!!!! Order extra curtido if you love that stuff!!! read more

After reading a previous review about the long wait, noticed that there were only two people at the tables so I figured it would be less than about 20 minutes. However, it took us more than 40 minutes to get four pupusas because they took phone orders and did not tell me. I had small kids and we were waiting in 46° weather for over 40 minutes for four pupusas at $5 a piece. Ridiculous. Do not come here. Read the one star reviews. read more

Stopped here on the way between SoCal and NorCal and was a little nervous as it's a food truck on the side of the road. But it has a yelp site so...let's go! The only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is because the seating situation is..well...a dirty parking lot with a tent over it. But the food was tasty and reasonably priced. And I saw some guy with a giant bowl of chicken soup next to me where it looked like a quarter chicken was in it with fresh vegetables, cilantro, and onions and I was jealous. read more

Are here while we charged our car. It's located right off the freeway in an empty parking lot. We got the lengua tacos, asada torta and a cheese pupusa. Everything was absolutely delicious. Large size Salvadoran pupusa (pork & cheese) filled an 8 inch round plate with cabbage slaw to pile on top and a nice red saucy to drizzle over it. Caldo de Res was a very large bowl of broth with vegetables and a large piece of beef with a marrow bone attached. Both orders were delicious and filling. Definitely 5 stars food. We saw several truck drivers pick up food to go. We had a wait for our order even though there was no line at 12:45 pm on a Thursday. It appeared that there were many take-out telephone orders the cook had to prepare before we placed our order at the window. Outdoor seating under a metal canopy was chilly on a windy, early Spring day. If you want to park on the asphalt area on the north side of the truck, you have to drive around Motel 6 parking to find the opening entrance to the asphalt area, otherwise parking is in a dirt, very deep potholes, dusty lot or park on street. read more

We came here on a road trip stop! I didn't think the wait was long and the food was just what I needed to get through the rest of my drive to Southern California. Just be careful of the lot. Definitely a lot of pot holes. The pupusas were definitely the best thing we got! The tacos were good but the avocado salsa made them even better! We also tried the quesadilla, which is a Salvadoran dessert! I've had many quesadillas as my husband is El Salvadoran. This one was about a 4/5. A little too much like pound cake but they warmed it up so it was delicious! Stop here and order the pupusas! You will not regret it! I give the cheese and loroco pupusas 5 stars!! read more

I might have liked this place a lot more if it had indoor seating, but it is a food truck so you take what you get. We were battling insects and really could not enjoy the meal so we wound up eating in the car. The beans and rice are truly wonderful. I did not get much flavor from any of the 3 different papusas we tried. They're OK but could use some seasoning and maybe more of the non cheese filling. The service can be pretty slow. read more

If you're headed from LA to San Francisco area north on the 5, plan to take a rest stop off exit 257 at Buttonwillow. You'll see a food truck with a covered outdoor eating area immediately off the freeway to the left. It's a bit of a wait after you order, but the pupusas (jalapeño, revuelta, and loroco) and plátanos are amazing! Be cautioned the pupusas are large (maybe 6 inches across) and packed full of deliciousness, so you'd better be hungry if you order more than one! Going northbound on the 5, exit 257 in buttonwillow. This is a good place to get a good hearty meal for a good price especially if you are traveling with family to feed everyone back up and have them sleep on the ride lol Pros: -Pupusas were very flavorful and pretty big for the price. Made fresh so they are HOT when you get them. -Got the shrimp and fish tacos and the next time I stop there, I'm getting full off of those because they tasted better then the tacos I had in Mexico honestly lol -Burrito was huge! Had a regular chicken burrito which was very good but paired with the salsas that they had, had me almost drinking it with every bite because it was so good(one of them was really spicy). - a lot of seating (7 full tables if you have a big group) Cons: - a lot of flies hanging around the place but you gotta consider where the place is located Suggest eating in the car if there are ALOT of flies when you go. Definitely making this the spot to drop by when passing by read more

The restaurant location was closed due to Covid restrictions. I was so happy that they set up a food truck and open tent dining. It's literally right off the freeway exit and you cannot miss it. We were wanting breakfast and went all in. The food was served piping hot was excellent and very satisfying. My favorite pupusa is loroco (those little green flowers and cheese together), - also got the revuelta (a mix of pork and cheese (although we asked for the beans to be added) - beans and cheese ( also very flavorful). Also got tacos with carnitas (shredded pork), al pastor (marinated pork), and lengua (tender chopped bits of beef tongue). Topped with fresh cilantro and chopped onion plus that spicy sauce! I don't usually drink soda but places like these serve the REAL Coca-Cola: in a bottle, made with real sugar, and I also got that. We left very satisfied and happy. read more

I've stopped here twice already, going back and forth from SoCal to NorCal. I enjoyed my first visit more than my second. My second visit, the salsa was better. The taco shells from my first visit were bigger + dryer and didn't taste nearly as good as the shells from my second visit. I loved the salsa though. The avocado-ish one (middle) was really good + creamy, and the red one had good spice. I would definitely visit again to try a pupusa. There's another taco truck immediately adjacent that I'd like to try as well. read more

Overall: Stumbled upon this food truck on a roadtrip and they are definitely some of the best pupusas I've had! Will definitely be back the next time I pass by on a trip. Food: I got the frijole and calabaza puspusas. They were pretty huge and came with salsa and coleslaw. Wasn't the biggest fan of the salsa, but the pupusas were sooo delicious and the ingredients tasted so fresh. Ambiance: There was a large, clean seating area in front of the truck Service: Great service, kind workers. Do note that since they are prepared fresh the wait time will be a little long, but it's definitely worth it! Gluten-free Options: So many since pupusas are naturally gf. There were also other gf items being served. Cost: Reasonable price especially for the quality and quantity of food you're getting. read more

I placed my order with a very friendly staff member about 40 minutes ahead of time. Our food was ready when we arrived. I paid and my family chose to eat at the rest stop an exit away. We had the pupusa especial. We ordered it with a plain cheese pupusa, a frijol pupusa, beans and rice. Additionally, we got an asada burrito. My family enjoyed our meal. My daughter said, "Tasty!" after every bite she took of the cheese pupusa. The curtido and salsa were delicious and a bit spicy. Tita's Pupuseria Lonchera - Pupusas Especial Bean and Cheese. - Mexican Near Me - Buttonwillow, California

The food is good, but the wait can be long. That said, this is some down home Salvadoreño food. If you don't order pupusas, you're doing it wrong. The bean and cheese and the pork and cheese are so good, and they are HUGE! They basically take up the entire plate! They are made fresh and taste best hot off the grill. I'm not a fan of Salvadoran tamales, but the Mexican tamales are pretty good. Also freshly steamed, they come with pork and a nice salsa. It's spicy, though! The tacos are teeny tiny, but they are loaded with meat and only $2 each, so order up! There are two trucks in this lot. This one is in front. It's the blue one. They have outdoor seating that is covered, with a good amount of bench seating. There is also a dirt lot where you can park. I'll be back anytime I need to stop during that drive up and down CA. read more

You can find tita's pupuseria off highway 5. We stopped here on the way to LA from the bay area. Tita's pupuseria is a food truck surrounded by many other food truck options around the area and gas stations. Although a food truck, it has tables under a tent for people to enjoy their food. There are wash stations for your hands and trash cans for you to throw away your food. We got 2 pupusas - squash&cheese and bean&cheese. Overall, the pupusas are big, very cheesy, soft and doughy. I was definitely cheesed out after having these. The cabbage on the side helped balance the pupusas, but I felt the cabbage had been left out for awhile because there was this dryness factor to it. I've had better pupusas. In addition to the pupusas, we also got tacos. The red and green salsas were both delicious and complimented the tacos. We got asada, pastor, and lengua. The asada was the only one I felt was pretty good and would get again. The pastor felt leftover and the lengua was just okay. The tacos are mini sized in comparison to the ones you get in the bay. The size didn't bother me since the small tacos were well balanced out from the tortilla and meat. I actually prefer it at this smaller size. This place is pretty affordable and closed around 10 even though their yelp mentions differently - probably due to covid, but not sure. Decent stop if you're on a trip to LA and need a place for late night eats. Pro tip - stop for gas here, it's much cheaper than the bay. read more
