a food truck parked in a parking lot

Very hot and yummy papusas, excellent prices, easy access off highway 5, tractor trailer parking

You can find this place off highway 5. We stopped here on the way to LA from the bay area. The food truck is surrounded by many other food truck options around the area and gas stations. Although a food truck, it has tables under a tent for people to enjoy their food. There are wash stations for your hands and trash cans for you to throw away your food. We got the carnitas, asada, and tripa. The tacos are $2 per taco and small compared to the ones I'm normally used to. The size didn't bother me since the small tacos were well balanced out from the tortilla and meat. I actually prefer it at this smaller size. The carnitas had a fresh and deep taste of pork. While the tripa was crispy and had a deep organ taste. Both the carnitas and tripa were delicious. The asada was nothing special. They provided a salsa that was also lack luster and didn't provide any enhancement to the taco experience. We would come here again for the tacos. Highly recommend for a quick snack if you're traveling.

Came here on our trip back to San Francisco. This rest area has a lot of food options but I was looking for something other than fast food. Saw this food truck w tables, shade, and patrons. Why not! I ordered 4 tacos and they're solid. Tender, flavorful meat. Soft tortilla. Hot sauce provided. Exactly what ur looking for when you're in the mood for a taco truck lunch. Recommend!

This truck definitely caught me by surprise. A few trucks parked along this road and were glad to have stumbled over to this one. Stopped for a late lunch here and I could definitely say it was a good one. Salsa comes in a squirt bottle which is a plus they are a good price. Highly recommend them if you come across their truck!

Elote minus the butter.

So we were driving through the I-5 and I knew we were going to start getting hungry pretty soon. So barely passing up the grapevine I turn to yelp and start looking up to see what they have in Buttonwillow, I told my sister hey if all else fails I've always seen an Indian place there lol, we like curry. So we did find this taco truck El Paraiso right off the Buttonwillow exit, across from the gas station. On the first stop, that's right the first stop we got some carne asada tacos you know those are a must. I got two carnitas tacos, I saw a picture of their chicharron with the cueritos and well it's been awhile so I had to get one. We also got an elote minus the butter. Everything was very good, which explains the second trip lol. The tortillas they give it a little crisp to it, not too much where you can't fold them but enough that you can barely taste it. They give you red and green salsa on the side so you can put as little or as much as you want. Elote was good, not grilled but still good boiled and made the way street vendors make it nice and hot! On our way back home we decided to make another stop. Of course got more tacos, I tried two of the birria so my sister could try one since she can't eat pork, not bad. She ordered a pupusa de beans and queso while I ordered a sope with chicken. These are made fresh so they do take a little longer to make, we were told at the window while ordering and we said no problem. The pupusa was piping hot and very good the curtido that came with was also good. So we ended up taking some chicken and asada tacos for the road trip home, let me just say the chicken didn't make it to the car lol. We decided we will be making frequent stops here on our many trips up North from now on lol.

Wow! It was amazing! Had tacos de Asado, elote preparado, pupusa, hot Cheetos with cheese, and tostada. My goodness, it was good. And the lady is friendly and food came out timely even with other orders. So tasty! Definitely worth a stop if you're traveling. Also, 4 tables seated outside with cover and music.

ceviche tostado was good and fresh. tiny amounts of fish tho the fish taco was delicious it takes awhile. I think she's making it fresh while you wait. maybe 10 minutes and i was only customer two trucks are here and they both are good

Parked just behind Tita's Pupuseria Truck, this truck offers lower prices (eg., $3/pupusa instead of $4) - and advertises everything (from food to coffee) as "fresco y recién hecho" (fresh and recently made) - so be prepared to wait for some things as they will often be prepared especially for you . You can eat there under at a table covered with a tarp for shade or get your order to go (and enjoy your later later).

On a whim, passing through, I stopped at this place just to try it out. I need lunch and had other places in mind, but I saw the truck and screw it I'll try it out. Immediately noticed that this place was Hispanic culture, but those places generally have the best tacos. I had gotten three tacos, 1 carnitas, 1 Al Pastor and 1 chicken all with cilantro and onions, lemon and hot sauce on the side. Classic street tacos! The tacos were damn good. I did have one slight drawback about the atmosphere. The person at the front would be calling everything out in her native tongue, and people were getting their orders as anyone normally would. Then my order came and instantly switched to a very 'american' accent and called my order out in English. Everyone got unusually quite as I awkwardly stood up from my seat and got my food and walked back to my seat. I think one way to easily mitigate the awkwardness for those who aren't locals, is assigning number to the orders and calling out both in Spanish and english. Just a simple suggestion from a complete stranger just passing through. Definitely great food, and would recommend

The food here is so good we might make this our regular stop on our trips up north!!! Loved it!…read more First, it's a road side taco truck so let's talk about the truck. The truck was very clean, and the person working (owner maybe?) was very professional! All five stars. You never know what to expect when you hit a new truck, and we knew we were in good hands from the start!!! What did we get? I wanted a quesadilla and asked for recommendation for what meat. The gentleman recommended carne asada and chorizo, and holy crud was that good!!! Amazing! He's totally right, this was a really good quesadilla! I'm not big on spice and asked if it was spicy. He said no, and he was right: there was just the mildest hint of spice after and it just enhanced the full flavor. We also got a chicken burrito. No joke, the burrito was almost as big as my forearm! The contents of the burrito were really good as well. Bonus, he was such good service he confirmed all the stuff on the inside to make sure it was what we wanted. Really appreciate that since I LOVE cilantro but my gf doesn't like it. That made it all the better . He also put the classic sauces in our to go bag, along with some silverware and plenty of napkins!!! These are small things but make a HUGE DIFFERENCE when you're on a road trip. Legit love this place. Will be back even if I need to go out of my way to do so!!!

I wasn't expecting the beans to look like that...kinda reminds me of beans in a can lol. Also, the salsa was awkwardly in these small plastic bags but I made it work. I really enjoyed the grilled onions, especially the charred pieces #yum I probably wouldn't stop here again because it's on the other side of town, NOT close to freeways/exits BUT overall, super good service. He doesn't sell drinks but is conveniently in the same lot as a quick mart.

Yes, we were basically on dirt roads that saw a few scattered homes here and there, and visible old school phone towers (the brown kind) connected with wires (where crows sit on a row) existed, and not much else. We drove around in some circles, looking for this fabled store and found nothing, not even a Bigfoot. We noted how the moment felt like we were on an Iowa highway because we saw expansive fields and experienced a Middle-America atmosphere. I wanted a small stalk of wheat in between my teeth. As we drove, we saw this place and decided that this joint would replace the store we were looking for. At this point I started to listen to Carry on My Wayward Son by Kansas. If you know, you know. As soon as I entered I felt like I had stepped into a diner in the middle of nowhere, the type of spot where brothers talked about saving people, hunting things, you know the family business. My friend Denise did not know what I was talking about and when I tried to introduce the world to her with corny prompts she decided not to play along. Still for a fan the experience was nothing but a win!(chester). I cannot remember the person who helped us but she was a server who reported that she had lived in the surrounding area for most of her life. She was deepening the believe that we were on a route diner neglected by city reality. During this visit, I had fried okra for the first time in my life. It was weird to taste but not in a bad way. More like I had never tasted this texture before in my life. The texture that I had not tried before in my life was a gooey vegetable. Like the texture of the outside was exactly as advertised--- fried goodness. The actual okra was the gooey part. I do not want to sound crass, truly, I do not, but it did feel like enjoying something slimy, and I will leave it at that. Again, not wrong, just weird But I will not get it again. The server- the homegrown one- gave us fried pickles and these were much more to taste. Like, I i have had fried pickles before and I loved them but I had some that were not for me. But these, these, were pickle spears fried to brown goodness, and the mixture hit green- which does not mean go, more like Hulk enjoys, instead of smashes. It was a simple dish yes- green spear pickle fried but sometimes the goodness of a county fair is exactly what a roadtrip snack should be. The fair came to my table and I am not mad at that. On this trip I did have the Willow Dip which I feel is a close cousin to a french dip. What this place did well, at least I think, is putting it on an onion baguette. I am not sure if onion baguette is a middle-of-nowhere bread, but, I allowed it because the taste of the bread was, like tailored made for me, I am a sucker for onion, and not just because it gives me sexy breath. The food was standard, solid fare. Everything was just good nothing wrong with it, all good with it. The sauces were tasty, and added smoky sweet flavor that was welcomed. So this elevated the dish by addding a hickory taste. It did not save the dishes, but did make them better. The decorations were texas heavy. I should have taken more pictures. But sometimes the imagination allows for a space to feel more than at it is.

As you enter the serene space, once your eyes adjust to the low lighting, it's surprisingly large and well taken care of inside, with mostly booth tables and an informal service-counter, souvenirs from India, and deli case (with desserts and ice creams) across the dining room from the front door. We had good hearty Indian food served by warm-hearted older gentlemen taking care of us AND our grateful dog, Scooby. He was treated to plain "tiki" cuts of fire-grilled chicken. They said they always reserve a tucked away corner booth for those traveling with dogs to use, because it's simply too hot outside for our furry compan.
