We stopped in while in St. Augustine for a few days. I had several people recommend it to us. The service was quick enough. The store is small so when it gets busy it feels super crowded. There is an outdoor patio with a handful of tables. The ice cream was okay. I wasn't wowed by it. I'm no doubt spoiled by the absolutely amazing local chain of homemade ice cream shops (Kelly's) in Orlando area where I live. I didn't love the choices of flavors here at Mayday. Super yummy homemade ice cream shop! Flavors are definitely unique. I has vanilla lavendar it was yummy it even had little bits of lavendar in it. I came in on a monday early afternoon and there wasn't anyone but us in there. Either way didn't both us. They also have a freezer to take a pint of your favorite flavor. The young man that took our order was so lind in offering samples, and asking us if we have ever been in before. Interior design was nice very simple and not bizzy. Went in for ice cream happenstance and was pleasantly surprised by the unique flavor profiles they offer. Excellent ice cream! Our scoop champions, Emily and Bee, did an excellent job. It was very bust the first time we went in, with customers making confusing transactions ( " I'm with that guy, he's paying for me"- pointing to a room full of guys, whiny kids, picky people, etc. Both Bee and Emily handled a stressful situation with seasoned grace, impeccable manners and professionalism, and did a great job. I was walking by and thought I'd stop in today and again both Emily and Bee were working. I was excited to be the only one there for a change and had an excellent conversation on a personal level with both. Emily has great personality and is so sharp, Bee is a delightful person and both were fun to talk to. I enjoyed my ice cream and service and will return just to say hello to then. Mayday was our first dessert spot we checked out. At first they looked closed but we were glad they were open. We walked in to the tiny ice cream shop and looked over the menu. Quick and easy. My fiancé ordered the The Aviator. It was chocolate and hazelnut Nutella ice cream blended with chunks of Biscoff cookies and chopped hazelnuts. She said it was really good. I ordered the Cookie Crush. This was their base ice cream, blended with Oreo icing and then blended with crushed Oreo cookies. Their ice cream was creamy and flavorful and sweet. We highly enjoyed it. It is on the pricier side at over $5 a scoop. But worth it. Definitely check out this place while visiting St. Augustine. read more
