    Prime rib special

Parking: huge lot right off the highway Decor: dark woods but clean, what you would expect from an older steakhouse Staff: friendly but not on point with timing and attention to patrons needs. Had to ask for a second water glass, table only had one. Drinks went empty and nobody noticed or asked if we wanted a refill Dinner came while we were only halfway through our appetizers Had to ask for a steak knife for my prime rib Food: prepared well and tasty Price: one glass of wine with dinner for two and with tip came in at over $130 so 65 a head is a little high for the quality of service in my eyes. Overall: I would shop around for other spots but if driving by or in a pinch, this place you can rely on good food

I have been a long-time Max restaurant goer Tonight was hands down the worst experience. Starting with the check-in, the hostess walked away and did not come back for quite some time. Then somebody else walked away and did not come back again. When we finally sat, no one came by our table for at least 10 minutes until I grabbed somebody and asked for a server. The server that came over, we gave our order for drinks and an appetizer. Another 10 or 15 minutes passed when I asked about my order from another server. They politely returned and said nothing had been entered into the computer, and there were a few new people. They took our order, and the appetizers finally came out. The buffalo cauliflower was not very good. I ordered the scallops, which were over $30, and only had half a dozen scallops on it, and the taste was not very good We ordered the specialty dessert, which was tiny and dry. The coffee was twice as long as the dessert and came out cold This was an extremely negative experience, and I won't be back to this Maxis anytime soon

Excellent service along with delicious food. I had the turkey sandwich recently with fries plus a side order of fresh crispy shrimp and for dessert I enjoyed a fruit filled treat which was nice and cold and refreshing in such a hot day

Burger. No sauce. Dry. Bland. Why?!?

Awesome food and wait staff! Peyton sees me come in and sets a place at the bar and gets my favorite glass of wine before I sit down.

He was pretty excited. We went on a Monday and there were only a few other people there. Major first issue, they no longer serve the boiled lobster that is front and center on their menu... only the lobster TALES for $41!! The menus are paper and could easily be marked to show they don't sell it... or at the very least the server could MENTION that it's not available when she brings the menus. I asked twice if the $41 was the price for JUST the lobster and she said that it was, so we ordered additional sides. The menu was unusual... SOME spicy seafood items mixed in with stuff you'd only ever see on a menu in an Asian Restaurant. Fried dumplings, crab rangoon... and the $14 "Cajun Spicy Rice w/Shrimp" was literally a bowl of Asian fried rice with shrimp, not the least bit spicy OR Cajun. The woman that seated and served us was absolutely FLAT in her demeanor. Everyone is human and people have bad days, but she didn't smile a single time. I told her we were celebrating his birthday and she didn't even NOD in acknowledgment, just stood silently waiting for us to order... it was awkward. We felt like we were putting her out, like she had somewhere else to be and couldn't be bothered. They cover the table with a piece of brown paper, but the areas it doesn't reach were sticky like old kitchen grease. They bring the absolutely cheapest plastic utensils, the forks were so flimsy that we had trouble getting the meat out of the shell with them and finally had to ask if they had any metal ones. (They did, which begs the question, why don't they bring them to start?) They don't bring a nut cracker or a pick either, or even a table knife. It was a pretty messy meal. The lobster tails INCLUDED corn on the cob and potatoes, so we ended up with enough food for an entire second meal. In terms of the meal itself, it was pretty good. The Cajun fries were great, the onion rings too. I had some of the best fried whole clams and scallops of my life. The fried dumplings were also spectacular, though they don't offer dumpling sauce, only packets of soy sauce. The Cajun Rice was meh... it was disappointing for $14 and really hard to eat with the tiny plastic fork. The bill came to $104 before tip. Crazy that those prices don't justify real tableware. We'll definitely try it at least once more (maybe as takeout)... hopefully there will be a new server or she'll be in a better mood.

First impression: dingy, dirty, in need of a good cleaning and new carpeting. I was concerned. Looked like it has not been cleaned in 20 years. But. Our server was terrific. All four of us were delighted with our meals. Grilled swordfish (perfection and I asked for it to be gently grilled), stuffed shrimp, seafood casserole and stuffed sole. The meals were HUGE. it included a soup or salad. I brought half of my swordfish home. Dessert. Bless our server. She warned us how big the servings of cake were. The hubs and I shared a decadent and delicious chocolate layer cake and still brought some home. So. Four of us. Terrific meals. I ordered the onion rings instead of fries and was disappointed that they were NOT onion rings. Onion strings (or some people call them onion straws) were given. Large mass of oily straws. Open year-round, although reduced hours off-season. Interesting menu, with various hot dog, chicken, and seafood options. I would rate the lobster roll as 4.5, and the glob of onions as a 2.5. He…read moreis genuinely one of the best bartenders I've had and has pretty much single-handedly locked me in as a Saturday regular. The Saturday Pop of the Week is SUCH a fun concept -- a boozy popsicle served in a glass of champagne -- and I genuinely find myself wanting to come back every Saturday just to see what he comes up with next. The one pictured was lavender, mint, lemon, and vodka popsicle (THAT HE LITERALLY CAME UP WITH) in champagne, and honestly... the PERFECT drink. Refreshing, creative, balanced, and just sooooo good. But what really makes the experience is Anda. He knows his drinks, knows the food, and gives incredible recommendations and pairings. The oysters were fantastic, including the dressed oyster with strawberry granita, which I probably wouldn't have thought to order on my own but absolutely loved. Then he recommended the cinnamon bun brioche donut and OH. MY. GOD. It was unbelievably soft, warm, heavenly, and the perfect way to finish brunch. I will never get over how soft and light it was. Beyond knowing the menu inside and out, Anda is just so relatable, personable, and genuinely fun to talk to. He makes sitting at the bar feel like part of the experience rather than just somewhere you're having a meal. Every recommendation has been spot-on, and he somehow makes my experience at AOB feel memorable every single time. At this point, Amherst Oyster Bar has become my go-to and one of my most frequent spots, and Anda is honestly a huge reason why. Great oysters, ridiculously good food, creative drinks, and a bartender who clearly knows what he's doing and makes you excited to come back. Couldn't be more pleased -- or more wowed -- by my experiences here. And yes, I will absolutely be back next Saturday for the next Pop of the Week!
