A family owned restaurant/diner with a lot of regulars! Watching the staff interact with customers, you can tell that people love this place. We stopped in for a quick breakfast. I had the 3 meat omelet and hubs had the Spanish omelet-- both were a nice size with good amount of filling, served with home fries and toast. Basic diner fare, nothing more and nothing less. Came here on a whim. Decided to give their breakfast a shot. It's designed to be an 1980s sit down restaurant, which is okay for the area. I went in and asked the server what's good. Was immediately steered to the most expensive items on the menu. Instead opted for a single over medium egg and a piece of French toast. Food came out quickly, but it was very haphazard. The French toast was white bread barely soaked in egg mixture and cinnamon hastily dashed on the plate. I came in with low expectations, and they met them in spades. At least the egg was in properly cooked. Price was 6 bucks, which was okay. Stopped in this morning w two friends for breakfast. My first time, not theirs. Ample parking. We were greated and seated promptly by Taylor, who also took our drink orders after we sat. Very diverse menu with lots of choices. Normally, I am a corned beef hash man, but Taylor, when I asked. mentioned it was not homemade. Plan B was scrambled w kielbasa, HF and toast. Demanding Dan had his usual....meat lover's omelet. Mike AKA Omar had ham and eggs over easy. Food came out really fast and hot. The three of us were satisfied and enjoyed our meals. Decided to try dinner here for the first time last night and we weren't disappointed. Staff very friendly. Owner or manager checked in often and was very friendly. Marcus was our server it was his first night he was great. They had toys and crayons for my 16 month old which was a big plus. And high chairs with working straps - thank you! I had the fried chicken dinner. The breading on them was excellent I don't know how they do it! So crispy and flavorful. For some reason I didn't love the taste of the actual chicken in the pieces that has bones (wing, thigh,leg) but the large fried breast piece they gave me was exceptional. Had mashed potatoes which were okay - wasn't a huge fan of them or the gravy, but the French fries were so yummy! I dipped them in a side of ranch which definitely tasted homemade. My husband had the Philly cheese steak and he loved it! It was loaded with peppers and onions as well! We ordered the hot dog for my daughter which mostly we ate because she just wanted to pick at everything. It was DELICIOUS. The flavor of the dog was amazing and it was a buttered toasted bun. I would've ordered that for myself. Definitely draws a regular crowd. A lot of the staff knew a lot of the patrons by name. It also seems like the seafood is something people order a lot of there - I'm not a seafood person but the meals looked good. We are excited to go back ... there were so many things we wanted to try! You can tell that this is one of the only games in town. Returning customers who are on a first name basis with wait staff. With a dated interior the dining areas that are spacious with tables and booths. My companion ordered Mac and cheese with a twice baked potato. He complimented the pumpkin bread served before dinner and enjoyed a very hot portion of Mac and cheese. His potato looked like it might have been purchased premade. No major additions just whipped potato and rebaked in the potato skin. I ordered the pan seared scallops with side salad. The salad was basic iceberg with a couple bright veggies. The scallops were overcooked and bitter. All in all uneventful and certainly nothing to write home about. I am sure they have a true hard core following however we are not one of them. read more

Never had anything at Hometown that I did not like. The menu is quite varied for breakfast, lunch or dinner and they have liquor too. Prices are fair and servings ample. Very clean & only non-chain still serving Waffles & French Toast ALL DAY! My teen always wants breakfast for lunch and this place did not disappoint. Also their strawberries on the Belgian were fresh and warm. So often they are frozen at other places so she was pretty happy. Their motz. sticks were good but we love sauce and dip and really appreciated the tasty marinara because they brought PLENTY, not just one of those tiny cups. I had a tuna melt and there was a generous amount of tuna. Staff & owners very friendly and attentive. I would like to return to try the seafood dishes. The prices were great! Fairly new in town and have driven past this place every day since June but never stopped. Let me first start by saying, their tap water is absolutely delicious. We went for breakfast and had a FRESH pot of coffee put on for us. We decided to order a bunch of sides and make our own breakfasts. I had the oatmeal which was PERFECTLY cooked, amazing texture! I also ordered a side a bacon which was perfectly crispy, juicy, and salty. We ordered the chocolate chip pancakes which were huge , fluffy, and chewy with the perfectly browned shiny crust on the top and bottom. Beyond amazing. We were surrounded with condiments and sauces to choose from, everything from jelly to ketsup, salt and pepper to milk cream and sugar, all perfectly refilled or freshly poured. Then I need to finish with the home fries. They were perfectly cooked with a soft potato inside, not mushy, with crispy browned edge- chunks mixed in, all perfectly seasoned, with what I can only describe as, "tastes like my childhood." All the waitresses were happy, in good moods, and joking around with each other. At one point I heard the kitchen break out in fun laughter while enjoying our meal and it put a smile on my face. They knew their regulars by name and got them their regular beverages going before they even sat down. My daughter and I like to eat breakfast at "little mom and pop places". The outside is enticing but when we entered the smell of my grandmothers basement (musty) smacked me in my face. I even hesitated walking further and asked my daughter if she still wanted to and she said yeah. We were sat quickly, our order take within 5 minutes. We both ordered Orange Juice and approximately 15 minutes later the waitress came and said we are out of Orange Juice but we are running to Geisslers to get more. I said no problem with the expectation I wouldn't be charged for the Orange Juice ( they charge for a large $2.99, I could of went to Geisslers and bought my own bigger than a large). I ordered a Western Omelette and my daughter the Hometown Special. The food was average, home fries were just potatoes no seasoning and too much butter on the toast. What a great family restaurant! They have really updated the place, love the decor. There was no wait on a Saturday night. The bread is delicious - especially the pumpkin bread! How fun! They really catered to my kids, bringing their food out first, crayons, giant cups of chocolate milk, and pictures of the food on the kids menu for easy ordering. My husband got the shepherds pie which was great. But the coconut shrimp were the best! I also love that the owners will go around to every table if time allows. They definitely know their regulars! Had dinner here tonight with my parents and our good friend for the first time. The food was fabulous and so was the waitress. I believe her name was Pam. It seemed as though she knew a lot of the guests and they certainly seemed to love her. Very personable. The clam chowder is creamy and delicious. Hate to report that my review is going down one star. We have gone here and gotten take out since my last review and the quality of our dishes has gone down. Our fries and fried foods taste fishy...i think their oil is mot hot enough when cooking and the food is absorbing the flavors of other dishes fried before...this has happened severs times. We still like the breakfasts there even though they seem pricey. We will probably just stick to breakfast from now on read more
