It explains why most of the people dining at the MGM Springfield Food Court on a Sunday afternoon were just getting their fix of bisque and oyster crackers. The Hot Lobster Roll was ok, nothing spectacular (3 stars if I'm being generous). The price was high and I've definitely had better ones for less money, but you're at a 5 star resort (kidding, of course) paying casino prices. It did come with fries, which was a plus, and maybe that justifies the price a bit. The fries dipped IN the bisque were good! Service was matter of fact with no personality behind the counter. It's counter service so I wasn't expecting much. I'd give it a solid 4 stars if you average my two items together. I've been here a few times during my jury duty stay across the street, and every time, got the perfect fish and chips meal. It's a good sized portion of 2 pieces of fish fried just right, crispy without being hard or overcooked, and a just-right sized helping of perfectly done fries. Shannon was heading the register, and she's both a joy and a powerhouse behind the counter, and is the "frosting on top" of a good lunch. I ordered the Fish & Chips and my wife went with the Po' Boy sandwich. Our meals came out after a short wait, everything was decent. We felt the Po' Boy was better than my fried Fish & Chips, but I'm not saying I disliked my meal, it satisfied my hunger. Overall, Jack's Lobster Shack is a 3.5 Rating, IMO. Located inside the MGM Casino food court, it's easily spotted as it's front and center. The menu is super simple as it only has a handful of items to choose from: hot / cold lobster rolls, fries, coleslaw, and drinks. We purchased the hot lobster roll. It was drenched in butter. The bottom of the paper bowl was soaked in it. The lobster was overcooked and flavorless. A bit of seasoning would gone a long way. My lips were coated with melted butter. It came with a side of fries which was lightly salted and crispy. The coleslaw was also lightly seasoned and sweet. Oh man, the star dish was so disappointing. For $30 a pop, I was expecting more. I should have checked reviews first. The service was ok. They took your name down and shouted it when your food was ready. It's in a food court style so seating was first come, first serve. Located in the MGM Springfield food court, Jack's Lobster Shack is surprisingly good for a food court restaurant. To untangle, I ordered a hot lobster roll with fries and it was respectable. With that being said, the roll was shockingly fresh and toasted well. Likewise, the lobster was tender and it tasted like fresh lobster. My only problems with the lobster roll was the lack of butter and the size. To clarify, the lobster roll was quite small and it needed more butter to enhance the taste. On the flip side, the fries were generic frozen fries, but at least they were crispy and seasoned nicely. In the long run, Jack's Lobster Shack is a decent food court restaurant with solid lobster rolls. read more

Pretty nice little shack, if you are looking for delicious seafood while you enjoy your experience at the MGM casino this place is pretty good. We ordered the lobster bisque and fish and chips. Every bite had lots of fish and very piece was phenomenal. I don't typically like going to the casino, but I was there earlier this week. I got really hungry, given that it was Tuesday several dining options were closed. I decided to go with Jack's Lobster Shack, since it looked to be the shortest line. Jack's Lobster Shack is a food stand at the food court at MGM in Springfield. I didn't have high expectations of this place since we're not exactly anywhere near the water where the seafood could potentially be fresh. I ordered the Fisherman's Platter to share, and their New England Clam Chowder. The wait was very long and slow moving. Nothing is fresh about the food here, but they also don't claim to be. I saw them with bags of frozen fries, shrimp, clams, thrown over sizzling oil. I also saw a little mouse running from under a corner of a bench to another corner. I notified a man working at the Shack, who appeared to be a manager. He said "I'll let them know." Not sure who he referred to. I was turned off from my food when I saw this. I'll note the clam chowder was pretty good, but very hot. The rest of the food was very fried, flavorless, bland and greasy. I just wanted to get out of there. If there's one mouse, there might as well be more. I hope they do something about this issue. I won't be returning for sure. read more

Now mostly with casinos you typically don't think of quick seafood & quality in one spot but at MGM Springfield this changes things tremendously. Now they have numerous options for your seafood taste & now when I selected here I decided the lobster roll & mine was worth every penny I spent (also if you choose anything else here you won't regret it) & you can get even beer/alcoholic beverages/soft drinks too. We did a FAIR amount of drinking over at Commonwealth, (go check my review and pictures for that place, it's awesome and mere steps away from this place) so we needed food to recharge before we headed home. Atmosphere/Appearance: There isn't much to this place, a booth to order food kinda like a fast food setup and a bunch of tables all shared within the food court. Service: Pretty good, straightforward. There isn't table service here like I stated before. You walk up, order and boom. Food. Food: Tiffany and I each ordered a lobster roll, of course. What impressed us here was the speed at which they came out. I don't know if they had messed up someone's order and had it ready, but WHILE WE WERE PLACING OUR ORDER, the other young lady was in the back putting our sandwiches together. I mentioned fast food right? So what's that mean if your stuff is ready immediately? That's it been sitting. Nope, not here. Our lobster rolls tasted fresh, hot, juicy and delicious. They weren't the biggest, but they held me over to say the least and the coleslaw that came with them was on point as well. I have been to Jack's twice. The first time it was an awesome adventure. After today, I am changing my mind, the prices went up, it seems like the amounts were smaller, and the onion rings were beyond burnt. I understand the prices going up, as the price of lobster does fluctuate from day to day. Regarding the smaller amount of lobster, it could just be that it seemed to be smaller to me. Now the onion rings I can not let that go. To me it looks like they were already cooked earlier. Then they cooked a second time which made them so overcooked and greasy. As I said in my caption, most chef's that I know were taught not to service something that they wouldn't eat themselves. I can't imagine the chef from Jack's eating these onion rings. Well, if you like food similar to what you can buy in the freezer section of the grocery store that has been fried for you, then this is your place. The fisherman's platter contained shrimp and scallops that were over battered to create a hard shell. One bite and you had seafood between your teeth and thick breading in your hand in one piece. And they served us one-half of a piece of fish. That's right, they fried one piece of fish and then broke it in half to serve two customers. I have never before seen that! We were so hungry after drinking several drinks at the bar while playing the slot machines, so we needed something quick! I was so excited to see this as an option so we grabbed two hot lobster rolls. They were pricey at $19 and not huge, but I've never seen a huge cheap lobster roll anywhere that was worth eating!!! We place the order and they basically turned and grabbed our rolls and handed them to us within a minute. The lobster was hot and delicious and this was a great choice. I wish I didn't tip what I did after the fact, but you know when you use a card and the screen comes up asking which percentage you want to tip, I chose one. My fault, maybe they deserve a buck but not 15-25% or whatever the options were, when they don't actually serve you at your table or refill your drinks or anything. My fault for clicking that button though, not theirs! My roll was delicious, can't speak for the cole slaw as I don't eat it but I'd definitely eat another of these rolls if I'm not feeling too cheap to spend $19 on what feels like a fast food experience, order at window and carry your tray to a table. The lady with the gray curly hair is RUDE as hell! When I asked her to substitute fries for the chips in my fish n chips order, she said, "the fries ARE the chips", as if I were supposed to know that. When I proceeded to place the rest of my order, she couldn't hear me, so I pulled down my mask so she could hear me better. She actually yelled at me to put it back on. When she asked for my name, she told me it was too long. So I gave her my boyfriends name. When it came time to pay, she told me how to use the card reader like I was a little kid. They were $16 when they opened and I liked them and I guess others did as well; however now they are $19 and I will never buy another one.
