Decent Peruvian food! This just changed locations - there's street parking as usual in Nyack. They really made the place look nice, great for couples and for groups. The ambiance is nice in the evenings. We came here the other night with a group of friends and it was fairly intimate in setting. For appetizers we had the Chips and Guacamole, Chicken Bites, Empanadas, and Fish tacos. The Chips and Guacamole were both very fresh! Both look and taste homemade. The Chicken Bites were crunchy and really delicious. We got one each of chicken and beef for the Empanadas. The chicken one definitely tasted better, the beef came in minced form. The green sauce that comes with this dish, though, is amazing! The Fish Tacos were pretty mediocre.. Could even go as far as saying the tilapia ones tasted like fish sticks. The mahi mahi ones tasted only slightly better :/ The tacos are the reason for the 3 stars, otherwise would be 4. For entrees we got the Lomo Saltado, Paella, and Jalea. Each of these dishes can feed 2-3 people. They were all fairly decent, couldn't say one's better than the other. No extra time is needed in ordering these larger dishes either. There is quite a bit of the fish/meat in proportion to the rice for the Paella and Jalea. The drinks we got for the table was sangria. According to some of the friends that came before, they said the sangria was really watered down. This time, the red sangria seemed watered down, and maybe they used a spiced wine? Was just okay. So let me preface by saying that I've been to Maura's once before and had really great drinks and the food was good. We came last night for my birthday which was also the start of Restaurant Week AND salsa night. Salsa night - Awesome. The band was amazing and got the crowd going. Restaurant Week Menu - Great price for the amount of courses you get. My gripe is more so with the basic service skills that can make or break an experience. For example, they ran out of menus and had to 'find' one for me. We asked for water and had to wait over 30 minutes for it because they ran out of water glasses. If you've been to Mauras and know their green sauce, waiting for close to an hour for water is damn near unbearable. At one point we had to beg for even just water in liquor glasses. Our waitress eventually washed four wine glasses herself in order to get us some water. My food this time with the exception of the chicken bites was pretty bland. I was looking forward to the Lomo saltado, but found it to be tough and lacking in flavor. Then there were our continuous drink orders throughout the course of the night, which never came out together and eventually there was such a pile up of glasses at our table that we had to start handing glasses back for them to be taken away. We were told that this was their first time participating in restaurant week and didn't expect the outcome they've had. I have eaten so many time Peruvian food and this place is not even close to Peruvian food. The most famous caviche doesn't even taste like real caviche. Service is ok. After living in New York City for a few years, it has become apparent that there are two basic ways restaurants are run here. The first way is the majority rule...fast, careless cooking and service at high prices designed to get you in and out so that another customer can get seated, regardless of customer experience or satisfaction. This place follows the minority rule...thoughtful, quality food and service that takes no shortcuts in an obvious effort to showcase its featured cuisine. Every step of our meal was high quality, from drinks to appetizer to entree. Our appetizer was 3 beef empanadas. They were juicy and flavorful. The outside was crispy and golden brown. I had a Peruvian paella with calamari, chorizo, mussels, and shrimp. All were cooked perfectly with none of the rubbery seafood I was dreading. It was served with a dish of marinated raw red onion slivers, something I have never liked and rarely eaten. I ended up eating the entire dish, one sliver at a time, to accentuate each delicious bite of paella. My wife had tilapia with a moderately spicy calamari and shrimp sauce. The few bites I stole were fantastic and rich with different flavors with a slight bit of heat at the end of each bite. Service was very good. As we waited with our drinks, our very helpful server brought out Conchitas(?), a corn nut kind of munchy. Nyack is a touristy place, and we were doing the touristy visit, expecting majority rule touristy food. We traveled to NY for Memorial Day weekend and went to Maura's right after arriving to LGA from Dallas. I love trying food from around the world and wanted my boyfriend to try something different. I'm so glad we decided to drive out to Maura's for lunch. Simply put- Maura's Kitchen's food is fit for Kings. A bit dramatic? Perhaps, but if you tried it, you would understand. Not only is the food delicious, but the ambience is great and they have a nice variety of Latin American music. For our lunch, we had Chicha Morada, the Ceviche sampler, Fried Yuca, Lomo Saltado, Chaufa and Pisco Sour. The waiter knew the menu inside and out and was very attentive. I appreciated that he brought food out for my daughter quickly so that she wouldn't get cranky. Everything was amazing and 1 week later, I'm still thinking of my meal. I have been to Maura's many times before and enjoyed the food. Tonight's vibe was very rushed and unwelcoming. Had a reservation at 6:45. Ordered drinks and appetizers. Our appetizers came way before our drinks. Ordered dinner which was great. Went to order desert and were asked to either have it at the bar or they could let us eat it at another table quickly because music was coming in soon. At this point we had eaten in a timely matter based on their service timing. We moved to the other table to have desert but were then constantly feeling pressure of asking if we were done. We finally gave up asked for the check and left. Normally we would have had a drink at the bar but being rushed out of dinner, spending more money seemed like a waste. The service at Maura's is top notch and definitely wins it its high ratings. Peruvian is easily my favorite Latin food. The food here is solid and delicious. I realized we didn't try their chicken but there's always next time. Started our meal with a margarita and fried corn kernels. The margarita itself is 5 stars. I told my husband I could have 4 of those haha. The ceviche was by far one of the best I've had. The textures and flavors of the scallop and mango ceviche are perfect. It included avocado, sweet potato and just the right amount of heat. We also got a lomo saltado with surf and turf. This comes with added jumbo shrimp and I really liked having this option. The owner/chef came to bring out our dish which was nice. We got sweet plantains as a side and a flan to go because it's my favorite and its homemade so why not? I'm excited to try it! We came with our son during lunch and appreciated how much attention was paid to his needs. Our server offered to wipe down his chair and brought him a cup with a lid for water. He seemed to thoroughly enjoy our son's interactions which made our meal that much better. It's a bit pricey especially for a lunch meal but so so good and we still tipped well because we really liked everything. Had an excellent night and dinner here with my brother and family. We all had different dishes I had the seafood paella which was one of if not the best pea dishes I've ever had all of the fish was Super Fresh the scallops were huge tender and cooked perfectly as well as the shrimp the rice was seasoned perfectly as well. This restaurant is a great find. As other people have noted, the ceviche is the best item they serve. It is a spicy mix of shrimp and tilapia that is quite delicious. I ordered a pisco sour to accompany my meal, which has quite tasty. You are also given roasted corn kernels to start =. They are very dry, but still have a good taste with a flavorful seasoning. I split the rest of our food tapas style. I particularly enjoyed the chicken bites and fish tacos. The fish tacos came with a lot of guacamole! A couple other notes: There is available parking on the side street next to the restaurant. Also, we unfortunately had some guy come in from the street and start hitting us up for money. We walked in to live music and a packed bar, but since we had reservations we were seated right away. The atmosphere was very nice. The place was clean and spacious in the dining area. I ordered the ceviche Maura and Arroz con mariscos, while my friends got the lomo Saltado and chicken empanadas. The Lomo Saltado was good. My friend said she had better, but it wasn't bad. The empanadas were okay as well. Nothing to complain about, but not amazing especially for the price. The Ceviche Maura was delicious! It was fresh and had great flavor. Even my friends who weren't so sure about it, loved it. The Arroz con Mariscos wasn't that great. It had a good amount of sea food but the shrimp and calamari were over cooked. It left a lot to be desired. What really made the visit awful( thus the 3 stars), was the service. The waitress was good at the beginning but then it took 20 minutes just to get her attention for the check. She never really came around to check on us. I had visited Maura's before briefly for a quick lunch and a couple of tapas. We decided to try it for dinner on a Saturday night especially because we saw they were having a singer songwriter playing at 8:30. Most local places in this area have a band that starts around 10 so to sit and listen to some light nice music sounded pleasing. We sat at a high top by the bar and our waitress Jessica greeted us right away. We ordered a few drinks and empanadas and crab croquettes to start. The crab croquettes were like crab cakes made with fresh, claw meat, lightly fried with very little breading actually panko, served over a seafood sauce with shaved Parmesan cheese. The empanadas we ordered were chicken and beef and very tasty and not greasy. They had plenty of ground beef and chicken inside and very fresh. For entrees we ordered the Peruvian chicken with rice and beans and the filet mignon which was topped with shrimp and sauce and served to your liking with the side of your choice. We were able to substitute sides for each of the three orders of filet. The chicken was seasoned with beer, cilantro, pepper and other spices that I could taste with each bite. The skin on the chicken was perfectly crunchy and the dish went soooo well with the yellow rice, black beans and sweet plantains. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked, tender and pink just as requested. The Malbec from Peru was bold, tasty, fruity and perfectly priced for such a generous pour. After dinner we moved to the bar since they had a second seating for dinner and we wanted to watch the performer. The bar was busy and Jessica helped out there too. We were able to enjoy the singer songwriter Ryan Townsend who was very talented. The restaurant itself is very nice and clean with a pretty bar and layout. There are high tops in the bar area and dinner tables in the dining room separated by half walls which gives it a very open and roomy feel. It is nicely decorated with soft purple lighting and flowers. There were still hearts on the walls and red roses on the tables since it was Valentines Day weekend. The restaurant was full and everyone was enjoying the ambiance, food, spirits, music or even just the basketball game at the bar which did not interfere with the feel of the Restaurant. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this place for tasty food with an authentic Peruvian/Latin touch. read more

Have only dined once with hubby and son. We ordered Jalea, lomo saltado and pisco sour. The menu isn't as big as I would have preferred but the service was good, food was fresh and tasty and the pisco sour was also very food. Will definitely go back! Prices are a bit on the higher side for the place but I guess the food was worth it and hey, they have to keep up with the rent right? Again, worth a try. Good for families and they have a cute bar. Looked up this spot and we were pretty excited about trying out the food, as we've recently fallen in love with a few Peruvian spots. The restaurant closes at 9, we arrived at 8pm and were told there was a problem with the kitchen and they were only serving fried food or ceviche. While we really wanted to try the ceviche, knowing there was some type of "problem" made us a little suspicious. Found this gem while driving by Nyack. It's such a cute restaurant, Friendly staff and yummy food. Stopped by for a quick lunch. I ordered their frozen drinks and mixed two flavors their frose and mango. I ordered the crab Benedict. It was very tasty and flavorful. Def will visit again! read more

All the 5 star reviews here are true. The food is awesome and the service is even more awesome. The only reason I'm posting this is to let you all know that they add a surcharge to the bill if you pay by credit card which they don't want you to know about until you get the bill, at which time they drop the bill and pretty much run away so you don't have a chance to ask about it. They call it a discount if you pay cash but the "discount" is not being charged the surcharge. Note to proprietor: I get that times are tough and a few other businesses (not many) are doing same. I don't mind paying it if I know about it. It is nowhere on your website that I could see which is where we have to order from (I assume no paper menu due to covid). I was also charged $2 extra because I asked for a little green sauce for my chicken dish. It was literally a tablespoon or so in a tiny ramekin. We were looking forward to coming back w friends and family but now are reconsidering- we feel like we were nickel and dimed, and that is not cool. read more

I've been to Peru myself and have eaten at multiple Peruvian restaurants. I have to say that this was a huge disappointment. Coming for a visit to Nyack, I wanted to try a Peruvian restaurant. I always look at my fellow Yelpers' reviews. The reviews prior to mine were mixed, but I wanted to experience Maura's kitchen myself. I was frustrated at many things in this restaurant. First the water tasted like metal pipes, whatever that taste is. People were ordering sparkling water because of this. Again, I'm just visiting, but if the water in that area tastes like that, at least place a lemon in the glass. I ordered a Pisco Sour -horrible. Sweet and eggy taste, not enough actual Pisco in the drink. My Lomo Saltado did not have any taste. As if they decided to just place a tiny little salt, cilantro, green onions on it and called it that dish. The only good thing about the plate was the fries. At least the fries were seasoned. Any of you who thinks that this is Peruvian food is dumb. read more

The first time my wife and I went here we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. We had reservations but there was live music. It wasn't a huge deal and we sat near the bar and could hear each other and the music, which was delightful. Tyrone, however, the manager decided this was unacceptable and when we went back a week later, recognized us, apologized and bought us dessert! That is the kind of service I hope to receive but never do. There's a reason we go here so often and it isn't just for the excellent cocktails and great food but because the manager cares and Maura herself wants to chat with you. read more

I was really hoping to like this place. Peruvian is my favorite cuisine! However, this place is one of the worst I've ever had. When it comes to ceviche, there are so many nice white fish choices. Their Fish ceviche is tilapia based; one of the cheapest fish you can find. I'd recommend using corvina, sea bass, snapper or halibut. My father ordered their paella. When paella comes out within 10 minutes, you know it's not fresh. You can tell it was warmed up again by how chewy the calamari rings were; like rubber! Lastly, the restaurant has bachata playing so loudly. Bachata is music from the Caribbean islands, not Peru. So loud that you have to talk over it. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place.
