Solid dinner experience at Lanni's!…read more My friend and I had tickets for a local play at 8:00 PM so we made a 5:30 PM reservation at Lanni's. To my surprise, by 6:00, this place was hopping! Classic and inspired cocktail list. Very Italian-forward. We pretty much ordered our appetizers and entrees off the specials menu, because why not? The prosciutto and melon was by far the best we've ever had. The beef carpaccio was melt-in-your-mouth amazing. The bolognese was heavenly, and the lava cake was sinfully delicious. Our server was a riot. Personable, efficient, and funny. He truly elevated our experience! The decor is beautiful. I love the wallpaper. Home run!

He makes a real martini, not one of the junior ones that I see all the time. Super frigid with little pieces of ice, yum and three olives There were people eating at the bar, and the wife and I will definitely be doing that. We saw this beautiful appetizer, and we had to order it 2 large shrimp and some lump crab with huge pieces of crab, served with a nice cocktail sauce and a horseradish sauce. The apps and salads are huge, so you'll need to share. For mains we had the crab cake, eggplant parmigiana, pasta with sausage and I had the soft shell crabs, my favorites. The place is charming and the service superb. Loved all except the crab cake.

No guessing, no worrying like you may have from a restaurant you've never been to. I've been coming here for a few years and every experience was above expectation. I feel like family when I step in the door. Joe is always extremely accommodating making sure my reservation is held even if I got stuck in traffic coming from Brooklyn. Memo and Omid also make sure all aspects of your service is perfect. Some of the best quality food you will eat. Some of the best service you will ever have. Very fair prices, no rush, no problems, great wine, beer, drink menus, great food selections and deserts. This restaurant is set in the heart of Piermont which is a quaint little town with interesting shops. It's set by the Hudson River and very close to the Tappan Zee Bridge. For starter we had the beet salad, coconut shrimp, and the crab cake. Of course they were all delicious. They served fresh baked bread hot out of the oven. For mains we had the Halibut Provençal served with Basmati rice and snow peas. We also had the Pan Sear King Salmon served soba Japanese noodles and asparagus. For desert we had the Bailey's Cheesecake, and the Motrin Dark Chocolate Cake. I cannot stress how great everything always is. It is with the drive to come here. I highly recommend them.

Wisely recognized as America's oldest tavern with its stone facade, the Old '76 House, located on Main Street in Tappan, has been welcoming guests and was restored to its pristine condition by the Norden family. Step inside, and nearly every corner tells a story that served as a meeting place for local patriots during the American Revolutionary War. It also welcomed General George Washington for dining on occasion. He once received plans at the establishment that exposed Benedict Arnold as a traitor--prompting a dramatic reaction still talked about today. Upon entering without a reservation today for lunch, my partner and I were greeted by the host and got a cozy table by the fireplace with original Delft tiles in the Tap Room. The interior features rustic beamed ceilings, four fireplaces, vintage portraits, historical certificates and documents, as well as costumes and artifacts where patrons were able to walk around and marvel at them. The menu reflects the tavern's heritage, with dishes inspired by early American cuisine. We decided on the Thanksgiving Sandwich accompanied with fries and the Traditional American Meatloaf over Mashed Potatoes and Steamed Vegetables. For dessert, we shared Hannah's Apple Crunch with vanilla ice cream. But even more than the great and delicious food was the history, ambiance, and especially the way we were treated. Our server was Joe and checked on us often. The portion was healthy and the price comparable to the area's. If one has even a passing interest in American history, then it's a must to come here. Not just a meal, but an experience!

Really enjoyed the food here on Mother's Day…read more Made a reservation for an early dinner online, for outside seating. Didn't think to check if they were honoring that given the holiday, since it turned out to be first come first serve no reservations. Inside reservations were being taken, there was a bit of a wait but it was well worth it. Our party of 3 ordered the octopus and an arugula salad as an appetizer. The octopus was divine - would come back for this specifically. We split entrées and ordered the short ribs, orrecchiette, and Chilean sea bass. Pretty big portions and the flavor to match! A huge kudos to the hostess up front, who navigated a pretty grumpy crowd with such grace. Understandably, it was a very busy day, and the restaurant was packed. We probably could've used a bit more attention from the waiter after we were seated, as we would've liked another cocktail, but overall a great experience. Looking forward to coming back.

This restaurant has so much potential... great location by the Hudson, the menu sounds delicious,…read moreand a party room available if needed. Unfortunately, we were left feeling pretty underwhelmed. First off, the food took quite long to come out. Nobody came to the guests of honor to let them know what was going on. It wasn't until the guests of honor said something to the staff that everything "sped up". It was all very reactive instead of proactive. Secondly, the food was left a bit to be desired. The chicken parmigiana was unfortunately pretty dry for something that had sauce, while the salmon (although moist) lacked a bit of flavor and could have used a sauce. Make it make sense please?! Some of the items seemed like they were not made from the scratch, i.e. the pizza and the crispy mashed potatoes. The best dish of the night was the penne vodka. I honestly wish they brought more of that out, but for some reason the portions for that dish were quite small. It seemed like they just ran out of that dish, and just put any small amount on the plates. Towards the end of the night, it just seemed like the staff stopped caring about the guests, and were just phoning it in. They barely came to check on us. Even any chain restaurant would do something as easy as that. At some point, even the drink orders came out wrong. Sprite instead of water for all of the guests, coffee for people who didn't order coffee, alcoholic drinks that were given to the wrong guests. And literally nobody was there to help the guests of honor cut and serve the cake. The guests of honor had to use a butter knife to cut the cake because nobody came to provide a proper knife or even offer to take the cake and cut it. With the slow service and the amount of time the food took to come out, I think it would have been more understandable if the food was amazing and/or presented well, but it was honestly as pretty basic as you can get. All in all, I feel pretty bad for the guests of honor that they had to experience such a thing: Basic food, inattentive service, and lackluster management.

My wife had the Faroe Island salmon and I had the branzino entree. Both pieces of fish were high quality and perfectly cooked. The accompaniments were just right, my wife enjoyed the bed of zucchini noodles. I went with the tartufo for dessert. Hadn't had tartufo in a while and this was a great example.
