the cookies are dry from this brand and crumble apart easily. the flavor is not very good.

I bought Matts Cookies many years ago. They were moist and had generous, plump, raisins in them. My Dad loved them, too - but when he passed away, I started making my own. Bought a bag today as I had such a taste for oatmeal raisin cookies. These cookies were do dry I nearly choked on them. The "plump" raisins of yesteryear?? Long gone. Even the packaging was different. These are pretty terrible and nothing like I remember. Sad - but this will be my last bag. $5.99 was a travesty. You should pay ME the $5.99. read more

Matt's Cookies are absolutely delicious. I purchased the limited edition pumpkin spice cookies at Safeway for my grandson who loves pumpkin everything. I found the packaging a very easy to open and handy resealable package. They recommend microwaving for five seconds to soften up the cookie. It works great. It's softens the cookie warms it up a perfect amount. Safeway ran out of the cookies and I ordered another package on Amazon. I highly recommend these cookies. read more

Cookies are and always were good. But why did y'all cut back on the size for the price of the cookies and the tax plus plus plus of the economy it's just not worth the purchase and my family and I only purchased this brand of cookie. Very disappointed read more

I cook my own food, bake my own bread and make my own cookies. However, I took a wrong turn at the grocery store ending up in the cookie aisle where I noticed Matt's Bakery, "ridiculously good fig bars." I read the ingredients and decided to try them. They were so right!! Matt's fig bars ARE ridiculously good!! I even went back the next day and bought another bag!! Donna N read more

As someone who remembers these as a kid and adult... WTH HAPPENED TO THESE COOKIES! They are wayyyyy smaller, slightly mealy and tasteless. I'd almost rather they were the original size and flavor and I'd pay more. I remember getting these from the local Jewel grocery store of if a family member got these for us when we lived out of state. Here's the thing we got a few packages while visiting relatives and tried them. All I could say is WTF HAPPENED TO MY COOKIES! It seems that the company may have been sold and whomever took hold changed everything. It's obvious that the company does not care and just wants to charge more for something inferior. I'd rather pay more for the original formula than this mess. If you don't read this.. oh yes I am coming to contact your customer service. This is horribly sad.. read more

Tried Matt's non-dairy oatmeal raisin cookie for the first time. I think this is honestly the worst cookie I've ever tasted. Dry, mealy, flavorless. It doesn't deserve to be called a cookie. read more

I bought Matt's Maple Pecan cookies just recently and just loved them. The flavor is so very good and I like the fact that they were a soft cookie. I shared them with family who also loved them. I'm going back to my grocery store to buy more and hopefully get some other varieties. The expiration date was into 2025 so I plan on getting quite a few to keep on hand. I've never seen Matt's cookies before and hope that other grocery stores in my area will carry them. Thanks to Matt's for being such a good company! read more

I had never heard of Matt's Cookies so bought these for the first time on impulse. I love peanut butter cookies. I saw these and against my better judgement (neither ingredients nor company info nor expiration date listed on the package) I tried them. Others here nailed the description - mealy, crumbly, like eating flour, etc. One reviewer mentioned they were gluten free - maybe that's it. Apparently they were once the bomb when it came to cookies. Not now. They're being returned. read more

I grew up on these cookies in the Chicago suburbs. My husband and I were very excited they made their way to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Well, that was until we ate them. They are NOT the same. They're smaller, taste like flour, aren't as soft and are too expensive. Never gain. Bye Matt's. You're truly gross now. read more

Matt's Cookies - a box of chocolate chip cookies - Bakeries Near Me - Wheeling, Illinois

Wow! I'm in love with these cookies!! I saw these at my local Food Lion and the packaging first caught my eye. It reminded me of "home baked". Sure enough, "tastes like homemade" and "all natural" sealed the deal. I got the Fig Bars first and gave a pack to my mama. She gave two thumbs up and I guarantee there's none left at her house . Well, there's none left at my house either, so ... The fig bars are so soft and not too sweet and when you get them, get two packages: one to share and one to hide for yourself . I went and got two more packages of Matt's Cookies today and got the Oatmeal Raisin and another pack of Fig Bars. I would've gotten the Peanut Butter and the Chocolate Chip ones but both of those had sold out already! I got home and opened the Oatmeal Raisin. Yummmmm!!! Again, not to sweet but flavorful, raisins were soft and fresh. I popped them in the microwave for about 6-7 seconds (adjust depending on your microwave), grab some milk, and enjoy. To be honest, they taste better to me warmed a bit. I like comfort food, so warming a bit gives that "just baked" flavor and texture. Now if I could just get my hands on the other flavors... I'll definitely be buying these again. read more

Matt's Cookies - Matt's Cookies ARE "Deliciously Good"!! - Bakeries Near Me - Wheeling, Illinois

Boyfriend and I recently tried the limited edition Apple Oat Crisp. Yum! Bought another package the next week and are seriously sad that their short run is over. Hope to see them again next season. read more

I absolutely love Matt's Cookies. It's hard to find good dairy free products. But Matt's Cookies are are amazing. My favorite, thus far, is the Chocolate Chip and the Birthday Cake. They are a very tasty soft cookie. The dark chocolate chips are not overwhelming or strong. The mix meshes well. read more

The four positive reviews just below this one seem to be fake. If you look at each person's history you will notice that this is the only business that they have reviewed. The cookies at Matt's are just NASTY, HORRIBLE, DISGUSTING cookies. They are made with date paste. That imparts a horrible fruit flavor in to the cookie. The Matt's cookies that were produced before the current owner changed the recipe were fantastic cookies! read more

The Maple Pecan cookies are great!! They have a great combination of the 2 main ingredients.

Matt's, what happened? For years, you were my go-to whenever I craved semi-homemade tasting cookies and didn't feel like going through the trouble of making my own cookie dough! We moved outta the Midwest a few years back and made it a point to always purchase and ask our friends and family headed our way to bring us a few packages. Excited, we ripped open a package last night, ready to devour the entire thing since we've been Matt's-free for 2 years or so. WHAT HAPPENED. First of all, I asked my husband when the package expired because it looks NOTHING like the original cookie. First impression: color is way off, looks stale, crumbly and even has a gray cast? I took a bite and it wasn't even close to how amazing they used to be. Disappointed, I had to google if the recipe had been changed and voila, that explains why I ended up with 4 packages of sad, pathetic, once-great cookies. End of an era. Thanks for the memories. I'll take my chances with a grocery store brand. Enclosing a photo. Looks nothing like the original. read more

Matt's Cookies - Bakeries Near Me - Wheeling, Illinois

Good taste, choco chips and peanut taste are barely acceptable but TOO MUCH SUGAR. 3 cookies at 36g in per normal serving is like drinking a 12oz Soda. What's with a single serving of 1 cookie, get serious. Why cant all you retail cookie people make a good product with less sugar. I know its possible, you can still have shelf life. Do your part to keep everyone healthy. Make a better cookie. read more

Taste like homemade. Best in the store. I will recommend these to my family and friends. Please keep making these fantastic cookies

Growing up eating these cookies as a kid were amazing! Now they're puredy trash from the texture, taste, ingredients, and even price. Matt's cookies fell off big time. Definitely not worth the price. The quality isn't there anymore. I wish i could give it no stars, but that's not an option. Bring on the orignal Matts cookies! Not a satisfied customer. read more

Matt's cookies are really good. They are made with quality natural ingredients. I love that they are soft and chewy. Remind me of a homemade cookie. My favorite is the oatmeal raisin. read more

When my son was small and in BoyScouts, we approached Matt's cookies to ask if the small group of boys could have a tour of the Wheeling facility. I was told by the owner that he "didn't like kids" and therefore, refused to allow a tour. Enough said about the owner. Draw your own conclusions. I used to love Matt's cookies. Years ago, they were moist and delicious and worth the high price. Now, the package size has shrunk considerably (as has the size of the actual cookie) and the taste of the cookies is in the garbage. Don't waste your money on Matt's cookies. They are horrible and a huge disappointment! read more

Sorry, Matt's the quality and quantity of your product is now a disappointment. What you guys are missing is that eating Matt's Cookies was an experience. The cookies were supposed to stick together and be peeled apart, that's what made them so great. The product looks like an investment bank owns the company and has tried to squeeze every penny. Regarding the fig bars, they used to be 28 ounces and now they are packaged 10 ounces for the same price. Plus the packaging has flared out edges to make it appear there are more cookies in the package than reality. Whoever came up with this new packaging scheme and pricing strategy can also claim responsibility for seriously impacting the value of your brand and lowering expectations of consumers. read more

...... and now down to one star as you substantially made the entire package of cookies smaller for a higher price. Done with Matt's for good this time...... read more

Great taste. Full of flavor, lots of figs. Blows away fig newtons!! Try some. Chocolate chips are great also!

when i was a kid, i remember when these cookies came out. they came in a paper bag. they had chunks of chocolate chip cookies, they were moist & delicious! now?!......just sad. dry! small! now they taste more chemically and they fall apart on you. not good. someone needs to get canned. read more

HEY MATT'S!, have you noticed that all your 4-5 star reviews are over 4 YEARS OLD?!?! Now, your more recent reviews are only 1-2 stars. Have you bothered reading these Yelp reviews? Do you not care about your customers any more?? Review after review, we are telling you we want the old recipe and the old size of what made Matt's Cookies an icon in Chicago. Yes, we are willing to pay more. We understand the state of the economy and the rise in prices for raw goods and shipping. If we wanted a cookie with more "natural" ingredients, we would buy fruit and fiber! We want our guilty pleasure back! What makes your cookie stand apart now from all the rest? - absolutely nothing! It's just another cookie brand on a store shelf that has fallen to the wayside. I fear that if you don't go back to the original recipe and size, you're going to see yourselves go out of business. Which is sad, both for your loyal customers and your employees. I'll be looking for your packaging stating "Original Recipe". Until then, I'll look elsewhere. read more

I have been eating Matt's Chocolate Chip Cookies for over 28 years. The recent changes the company has made is a poor decision from their management to distribute subpar product. It is now a thin frail cookie that crumbles when you pick it up; pale in color and overall dry consistency. To say I am terribly disappointed is an understatement. Until they return to the old tried and true recipe their product is not worth purchasing. Save your money and don't bother buying this pathetic remake attempt. read more

I've been buying Matt's chocolate chip cookies for 15 years, and over the last few months noticed the smaller size and complete change in taste, yet ...same price! Anyway, regardless of price, I'm moving on to different cookies. Just bought my last bag this week. They used to be SO delicious! read more

I've been eating Matt's cookies for years and whenever I've wanted to drop off something special, it would be Matt's chocolate chip cookies. I dropped them off at nurses's stations in hospitals, visits to friends etc. A couple of days ago, I purchased a package and was shocked. 25% reductions in weight and the cookies weren't nice and thick and seemed drier. I would have be accepting of a price increase to add the probable necessary profit margin for the company. Whoever made the decision to downgrade the cookie certainly made a mistake. I am unlikely to use Matt's as my go-to cookie to produce the great response it always received. Please correct your error and go back to what your firm successful. read more

What happened to these cookies??? One cookie used to be enough because they were big, moist, and rich. Now one is enough and the rest of the package can go in the trash. The cookies are smaller, dry, bland, crumbly...just not good. For the price, just buy some chocolate chips and make your own, lol. read more

I was first attracted to Matt's cookies because of the name. My nephew has the same name and happens to be an incredible cook. After reading the ingredients...you can actually pronounce and recognize all of them...I thought it was worth a try. Sold! If you want a cookie that is as good as, if not better, than one you would make at home you should give these a try. I opted for the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip to start and am anxious to try several other varieties. Found mine at Whole Foods. read more

I first bought a bag of matts cookies about 15 yrs ago , what caught my attention was the images on the bag which made me think of "homemade ". What has kept me buying them is the quality that has been there cookie after cookie all these years. Matt's Cookies - Bakeries Near Me - Wheeling, Illinois

These cookies, while soft, are dry, crumbly and very messy. They have some flavor, but it's chocolate chip flavor. The cookies aren't bad, but for the price, I'd rather get a whole bunch of "Grandma's" brand cookies for like, $.50 to $1.00 or something. It's just that these cookies aren't worth the 3.98 I paid. They're cheap and look like warped, fat frisbees. read more

I love MATT'S COOKIES. I just ordered 4 packages of their fig bars which have not been available for a while. I was not disappointed. They are as good as ever and are my favorite fig cookie. We are waiting for our local stores to start carrying them again. read more

Im disappointed and down right heart broken at the new watered down version of Matts. This was my favorite brand hands down in the 90's. They were the best period. The texture, the taste, the price all spectacular. Honestly i wouldnt mind the price if the recipe was the same. Id pay it no matter what. But this brand of Matts is terrible and it insults my intelligence if they want us to believe the recipe never changed. Its obvious theyre different and its sad for whatever reason they traded in quality for business reasons instead of staying true to their original standards that made them my favorite. Im hurt my kids wont taste what tasted as a kid. read more

Very disappointed in the change of recipe! Completely different from what I'm use too. I feel at this point you guys might as well go out of business. How could you disappoint the people like this when we're the ones helping to keep you all open! -10 stars! read more

I'm tapping out on Matt's Cookies. Just bought 2 bags of the chocolate chip cookies and was shocked to see how they looked and tasted. The "new" Matt's Cookies are much smaller than the cookies I probably purchased just 1 year ago. and the soft consistency is gone. Thanks genius management at Matts for producing a lesser cookie. "Much" lesser. Keep this up and you will be closing your doors. The 2 bags I bought are the last 2 bags I am purchasing. Chain grocery store bakery chocolate chip are much better than what Matt's is producing now. Reading some the other reviews, Matt's does not even care. So, go to Meijer and buy the bakery chocolate chip cookies which are really soft, fresh and large. Skip Matt's. read more

I hope they read these reviews because I am so disappointed to see these cookies used to be so delicious and now they seem to become dust cookies. They look so dried, they crumble and tasteless. I will no longer buy these. VERY Sad. Please change your ingredients back to what they were or else, I am afraid you may find not many returning customers and will be out of business. read more

I had a craving for oatmeal raisin cookies. Rather than go across town to a sandwich place, I decided to purchase my favorite Matt;s from the convenience store I was in. I was definitely shocked to get home to see the cookies had gotten smaller. I was use to biting into the moist thick cookies I was use to. To say the least, I am very disappointed to learn you are now selling the cookies as half the thickness of what they use to be. Shame on you. I won't be buying anymore. This is not what I have come to love about your cookies. Such a con!!! read more
