A solid choice if you're looking to get some Mexican pastries. Depending on when you go during the day you may end up with a little more limited selection, but there's enough different types of items here to satisfy your craving for baked goods. Though the prices aren't listed in the case, the price was quite low overall -- coming out to around $7 per bag of baked goods. Even their pricier items were well below what you'd expect to pay elsewhere for a similar item. All the items I tried were fresh and I didn't have any dry items noted by other reviewers. The staff was also friendly and helpful in my purchase.

    Cheap, huge, authentic Mexican pastries

I don't know much about Mexican bakeries, but I do know that Lupita's Bakery is a great place to get acquainted with Mexican baked goods. It's been around for a LONG TIME, so long, that I remember coming in a couple of times when I used to dance at a dance school next door. Last weekend, we were in the area and I had a sudden urge to go inside and checkout what's changed. One thing I can say is that the economy has not effected this place one bit and the prices are as cheap as they used to be 10+ years ago. There is a wide range of freshly baked goods and an aroma that goes on for miles! There are pastries, breads, cookies, and many other items that I have absolutely no clue about. It's a very authentic bakery and almost no English is spoken, so please be aware. When we were checking out, the very friendly lady at the counter was ringing us up, and at first, we thought that each item was $3+, which is kind of expensive, but all the items are HUGE. At the end, we realized that the 4 things we bought came to a total of $3.26 or something close to that and we both started cracking up as we left. It's an awesome little place, and its location is somewhat hidden as its on a strip mall in Wheeling. If you are in the area, I highly recommend checking out this bakery!

DISGUSTING TASTELESS 3 kings Ring Bread.!! ;(
    Nena T.

Worst 3 kings ring bread ever.!!! ;( This place is ok as far as mexican sweet bread, unfortunately for this tradition they really went wrong, they totally messed up, three kings ring bread is nothing but sweet bread covered with more sweet tasteless ridiculously colored stuff just randomly trowed on top. So sad this is something we wait for all year we were hoping to enjoy a nice family tradition only to end up disgusted whith this sheety "Rosca"

Small-local- not a chain- go support!!! For the pros: Great…read moreservice overall. The Black Forest cake was delicious and beautiful and they did an excellent job. Donuts, apple fritters, and eclairs were very tasty. The custards were yummy. Cons: Place was dead, not one customer to be found on a Saturday morning at 7:30am. Stop going to the chain coffee joints and try a small place that needs us. I preordered a little leas than $100 worth of cakes, pies, and pastries so I grabbed some of the cookies to make it $100. The butter cookies are $33 a lb. Ouch! As soon as you take a bite they fall apart and crumble everywhere. The kids didn't like the taste and didn't eat any of them, a waste of $12. No prices anywhere other than the boxed goods or coffee signs. 4% fee for using a credit card which I get, but have it posted better. Couple small signs I caught over by the fresh stuff saying price tags reflect cash price, but yet didn't see prices anywhere other than on shelves by boxed stuff. Have prices posted. French silk pie was very thick and not very chocolaty. No one really cared for it, def would not get again. I looked back at receipt after I left and see a random charge for "open retail" for $3.12, no clue what that is. So was over charged for something I didn't get.

I have been going to Deerfields Bakery for decades; I just realized that it is not "Deerfield" or…read more"Deerfield's", but "Deerfields". Before we fell in love with the mousse cakes of another bakery that's just minutes from home, we used to order most of our birthday cakes from Deerfields, and picked up at the location in Deerfield. In addition to cakes, they specialize in a full line of baked goods, including pastries, cookies, cupcakes, pies, danishes, donuts, muffins, bagels, and more. Recently, I needed to order a small 4" cake for the first time ever, since all of us didn't want a large cake, even a 6" cake would be too much, because I am usually the one to finish all the cake leftovers. Also, there were only about 3 days for the bakery to make the cake, our other bakery needs 7 days, and probably would not make a 4" cake. I knew that Deerfields could do it in 48 hours. I was pleased that I could order on their website, although their choices for 4" cakes were very limited. I picked a velvet cake with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting ($30.95). However, it has 4 layers and serves 6-8, we would still have leftovers. This time, I chose to pick up at the Deerfields in Buffalo Grove, where I had visited a couple of times, and I like this location much better than the one in Deerfield. It is like a storybook bakery to me! The bakery is picture perfect inside and out, visually appealing with lots of vibrant colors and beautiful displays. When I visited, the spacious bakery was festively decorated, which was quite charming. There's also a café inside, with some tables on the first floor, and the entire cozy second floor dedicated to café dining. The café serves breakfast and lunch Wednesday through Sunday. Like many other bakeries, Deerfields is closed on Mondays. On this weekday when I came around noon, the bakery was bustling. I would give this experience 5 stars for both the cake we ordered and the excellent service we received, especially from Greg, who greeted me as soon as I walked in. The customer service team had emailed me suggestions for decorating the small cake, and I replied with my specific requirements. However, it seemed that my reply had not been read. I needed the center of the top filled with more roses so the design would not look like a wreath. In the future, I will follow up with a phone call to confirm the details. One staff member from the bake room (Brianca?) came out and explained that it could be done, but I would need to wait an hour because all the bakers had just gone on break. I agreed and said I would return to pick it up. Just as I was about to leave, Greg came out from the bake room with the good news that a baker was available to do it right away. In the end, I only spent about 10 to 15 minutes waiting, which I used to take photos around the shop. The cake turned out beautiful and delicious, moist and velvety. I myself didn't care that much for the thick buttercream frosting, but the cream cheese filling was quite good. Since we had the cake after a big dinner, we all opted for small pieces. However, all of us didn't mind eating leftover cakes the next day. When we crave for a more traditional cake in the future, we will definitely return to Deerfields again!
