I've been coming to Lupita's Bakery for years, and this is one of those places that will always have a special spot on my list. It's a family-owned, grab and go kind of bakery with all the classics. Churros, elote, conchas, and plenty of other panadería favorites. But if there's ONE thing I keep coming back for... It's their tres leches. You can call ahead and order a full sheet cake, or grab an individual slice like the one pictured here. And let me tell you--the cake is SOAKED in milk, exactly how I like my tres leches! Some places are way too stingy with the milk, but Lupita's Bakery does not hold back. The cake is incredibly moist without becoming soggy. The icing is also super light and airy, almost like whipped cream, which I LOVE. And somehow, with all that sweetness, it's not overly sweet at all. Cute little bakery with nice staff. It's a small family business and the inventory isn't gigantic, but the pastries they make are fresh. There's a nice refrigerated area with tres leches cake slices, flan, and pop. It's a true panaderia with la concha of different choices (a few times they were really dry and crumbly), cookies (tasted stale the past 3 times), and the churros (ALWAYS the win here)!!! The churros are delicious when they're freshly made - regular cinnamon sugar, filled with chocolate or vanilla. THIS is why I come here! Some of the pastries are hit or miss, maybe depends on when I'm stopping in? The churros however are always good and keeps me coming back. Depending on when you go during the day you may end up with a little more limited selection, but there's enough different types of items here to satisfy your craving for baked goods. Though the prices aren't listed in the case, the price was quite low overall -- coming out to around $7 per bag of baked goods. Even their pricier items were well below what you'd expect to pay elsewhere for a similar item. All the items I tried were fresh and I didn't have any dry items noted by other reviewers. A nice, quaint little neighborhood bakery shop that offers a delicious variety of Mexican pastries. I have picked up some good pastries from here like sweet turnovers/ empanadas (sweet potato, Bavarian cream, apple), macaroons, churros (plain, chocolate, strawberry & vanilla kinds), cinnamon rolls etc. They also have flan, elephant ears, muffins etc. The prices are very reasonable and the service is good. This is one of those local businesses that you want to support all the time because they are worth the visit every time. They sell the baked goods that's not only delicious but it makes you happy. E.g., have their churros (with hot chocolate) or sweet potato turnover just puts me in a good mood. If you haven't been here before then I highly recommend checking them out. I don't know much about Mexican bakeries, but I do know that Lupita's Bakery is a great place to get acquainted with Mexican baked goods. It's been around for a LONG TIME, so long, that I remember coming in a couple of times when I used to dance at a dance school next door. Last weekend, we were in the area and I had a sudden urge to go inside and checkout what's changed. One thing I can say is that the economy has not effected this place one bit and the prices are as cheap as they used to be 10+ years ago. There is a wide range of freshly baked goods and an aroma that goes on for miles! There are pastries, breads, cookies, and many other items that I have absolutely no clue about. It's a very authentic bakery and almost no English is spoken, so please be aware. When we were checking out, the very friendly lady at the counter was ringing us up, and at first, we thought that each item was $3+, which is kind of expensive, but all the items are HUGE. At the end, we realized that the 4 things we bought came to a total of $3.26 or something close to that and we both started cracking up as we left. It's an awesome little place, and its location is somewhat hidden as its on a strip mall in Wheeling. If you are in the area, I highly recommend checking out this bakery! read more

Usually on Sunday I drive over to this bakery it's about 20 minutes away but well worth the drive since the bread is made fresh daily they have a nice selection the conchas are delicious and the bolillo filled with cheese and chorizo is also very tasty I definitely recommend this bakery! read more

I recommend their churros! SO AMAZING! perfect blend of sugar and cinnamon on the outside and soft but crunchy when you take a bite. I did try an assortment of their baked goods like conchas, muffins, and baguettes and they were mediocre. There is no english spoken and no signs so you may have to bring a friend to translate or help you pick out some great choices and the men and woman working the front are very nice. read more

This place is amazing! The staff is super friendly and helpful, especially if this is your fist Mexican bakery experience. It was our first, and it won't be our last! It's a self-serve bakery. You go to the counter and get your basket and tongs, ask questions if necessary, and then go to town with all the goodies they have! I chose a cinnamon-topped donut, and a fresh, hot apple pocket pie. I swear that the cinnamon donut tasted exactly like my favorite donuts on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Oh my goodness! The memories came flooding back as I enjoyed this delicious treat. The apple pie was fresh, warm, and delicious as well. Plenty of filling in a flaky crust. Also, we got a free churro for mentioning that we found the place on Yelp! I don't know if that's something they do for everyone, but it would be worth a try! Why no pictures? Well....It was raining. My husband quickly got into the truck and set the back of baked goods on the center console. They fell off just as I was going to sit down. Yup. Squarshed. We went in here for the first time and the moment we walked in the smell of baked goods hit us. It smelled so delicious! The girl at the front counter greeted us right away. She was all smiles and super friendly. Everything looked so tasty I wanted it all! I ended up getting Conchas of course because they're a staple and Churros in vanilla, strawberry and plain flavors plus different goodies that I couldn't pass up. I got about two bags worth for $11.00! One thing to note is that if you are going to spend $5 or less then it's cash only. I will definitely be coming back here! read more

I went in looking for conchas & only found 2. I was told they would have more by 3:30pm. I returned at 4pm & was told they didn't have any as they were just making them. Love this place. I have been getting my sweet mexican bread cravings fulfilled here for several years. As soon as you walk in the smell of sweet delicious bread hypnotizes you with delight. Very authentic and with many different sweet varieties to choose from. Their tres leches cake is awesome. They have it by the slice or you can order a whole cake for any occasion. I recently tried their chocoflan and oh my it is heavenly! I always feel like a kid in a candy store as I start filling my basket with different kinds of sweet goodies.
