Let's get one thing straight: I am from Kazakhstan. I support Ukraine, always been. Donated quite a lot for some brigades on frontlines and I personally have a strong personal bias against the ruzian state (my experience with them in Kazakhstan, with them being bunch of racists and disgusting monkeys) and its actions since the 2022 invasion. My girlfriend and I are even actively learning Ukrainian together. But I don't speak it fluently yet, but since she's from Ukraine she helps me. I came to your establishment to spend my hard earned money and give my lady a good time and not to be treated like an enemy because of the language I happen to speak. It's a disgusting pattern. Six months ago, a waiter snatched a napkin I was still using right off the table without a word. Just snatched it as she was going the other way from the table. And that night six months ago, I felt some weird gazing and feeling from staff, like If they hated me and wanted me to leave. Tonight was even worse. The female server brought our food and spoke English to me but switched to Ukrainian for my girlfriend, intentionally creating a barrier. Then, a male waiter had the nerve to approach the table and tell ONLY her that the restaurant was closing in 5 minutes. He wouldn't even look me in the eye or acknowledge my existence. But the moment it was time to collect the money? Suddenly, he's staring only at me you think my lady can't pay or what, or that's she's a women and that's why you don't even have to look at her? This is the United States and I'm a citizen of this country. We are a free country, and in this industry, you stay professional. I am paying for service and hospitality, not for your staff's "selective" political activism or their cowardly, passive-aggressive vibes. If your employees can't treat every customer with basic respect and speak English to the whole table, they shouldn't be working in hospitality. I can feel the hate and the prejudice in their eyes every time they walk by, and it's pathetic. I left a $5 tip, and honestly, that was pure charity. Your team didn't earn a single cent. They provided a hostile environment instead of a dinner. I stand with Ukraine, but I have zero respect for people who use a national tragedy as an excuse to be shitty at their jobs. Train your people to be professionals. This is America - leave your personal baggage at the door. Slava Ukraini

Tucked unassumingly in a shopping mall in Mundelein, Ararat is a tiny hidden gem. With only about an 8 table dining room, it is a cozy, intimate venue, with a huge and amazing menu, featuring Armenian cuisine. A party of 4, we ordered drinks, 3 appetizers, and an entree for each of us. The portions were generous, delicious, and we probably over-ordered by at least one appetizer, but we wanted to sample and share as many dishes as possible. We began with glasses of tasty Armenian apricot wine. Our appetizers came out in sequence rather than all at once, starting with Italian Lady's Fingers. A mixed salad of cooked bell peppers, nuts, onion and prunes. Very good. Next we were served Khorovats, Armenian style grilled eggplant . Also an excellent dish. Last was beef and lamb dumplings, Khinkili. One of these large, juicy dumplings could have been almost half a meal by itself. I've tried khinkili in a number of restaurants, and these were the best I've eaten. Our entrees were Steak Kebab, Lamb Kebab, Lamb Rice Pilaf, and Frikasse, a chicken, mushroom, vegetable in sour cream sauce dish. All were very good, and were were saddened that we were all too full to try any of their baked goods desserts. The meal was excellent, the small dining room comfy and the service very good. One word of caution: If you plan to dine here you must be patient. Dishes were served as they were prepared, and apparantly little if anything is prepared in advance. The advantage is hot, fresh, and tasty dishes. The disadvantage is that there was a 10 minute delay between service of the 1st and 4th entree. We were in no hurry, so we did not mind. Also we were sharing our selection. For a casual, relaxed, delicious dining adventure I highly recommend Ararat.

Updated review! Came for our anniversary and had a delightfully delicious time!…read more I don't drink alcohol but I was supremely excited when I convinced our waiter, Dima, to serve us the wheel of fun with berry compote and uzvar -- which is a spiced dried fruit juice that tastes like a campfire. It's cold but intriguing. Though I might not order it a second time, I was glad to try it and a single serving is only $5 that they split into 4 shots. The wheel of fun honestly made my night! And the berry compote carafe is definitely worth $15. We had the party platter of varenyky and substituted the red beef ones for more potato ones. But next time I really want more orange pork varenyky! They're sweet and savory and I was reluctant to share the 4 on the plate! We also had barosh (polenta balls) and the potato pancakes (super circular!), which, much like my previous review, were a hit! The mushroom sauce that comes with both is just soooo good. I love mushrooms, know why? Cause I'm a FUN guy. Circular foods, circular drinks, all come full circle. And I will come again, the next special occasion I have. Quite a delight on a Friday night! And surprisingly they were not too busy and the twinkle lights and the Christmas tree outside really made it feel cozy and special.

Honestly, I'd eat here every day if I could. Everything is phenomenal here. Literally. I don't typically care for sauerkraut: love there's. I avoid stuffed cabbage: am obsessed with theirs. Just come here and order one of everything off the menu and thank me later. Also be sure to dine here at night, the red lighting is a vibe. The service is some of the best as well, so if you're visiting Chicago, go here.

Decided to try Pirosmani and SO glad we did . It's located in a strip mall in Wheeling . There are a few bar stools to eat your food there but if you have a big crowd, plan on taking your food to go. The girl in front was very helpful telling us what things are and what they are made of . If things are served hot or cold . We picked out a few things to try and not one of them were bad ! The cheese pie, the two rolled up eggplants , the chicken kabab, corn cakes, the chicken sandwich, and even the fun pops were all delicious . Today is my birthday so I wanted to try something different and new and so happy I did . Another girl came out from the back and chatted with us. Both girls were so sweet and helpful. They informed us the place next door is owned by the same person s, which is another Georgian restaurant, so we will be visiting them next . They gave me this dried fruit and nut log for my birthday for free too. Only thing was they didn't have the cheese and egg "bowl" or the dumplings to eat there they were ready to bring home frozen though . But that wasn't enough to take away a start .

It's a small and cute shop, but there's so much to choose from. I wasn't very hungry so I decided to order three small items. I got the Georgian Cookie, Cottage Cheese Cookie with Walnut and Meringue, and the Syrniki. The Syrniki was PHENOMENAL and a dream. The outside is golden brown and the inside is so fluffy, the flavor was outstanding and made me want to savor every last morsel. My second favorite was the Georgian Cookie, which had a beautifully rich, nutty, and buttery flavor. The Cottage Cheese Cookie was great, but it was my least favorite of the three. I did come back here the next day and I ordered a Golden Raisin Syrniki (it was perfect in taste but could use more raisins), the Penovani (it was delicious and I was lucky when it just came out hot), and the Potato Pie (which I liked the least but it was still good). Overall, this is a great place to try and I highly recommend it. I'll be coming back
