Poke Hale is soooo delicious! Hubs and I were craving sushi, but it's pretty pricey these days and we've had some "off" meals at our usual places we decided to have poke instead. Poke Hale was our favorite and yet somewhere along the way it fell off our radar as places to eat. Well, we are back!!! Our order can be easily made online. Hubs and I go with the Build-your-own Bowl. A regular bowl allows 2 proteins and a large bowl allows 3 proteins. We can have a reasonable amount of adds in and toppings. We started with appetizers of edamame, shrimp tempura, and Crab Rangoon. All were really good, there was a good amount of edamame for the order. Everything was fresh and hot! The portions of the poke bowls were generous and filling. The Hale Ginger dressing was SO DELICIOUS!!! Service was friendly and quick. We placed our order online and picked up. The woman at the counter was appreciative of our order, doubled checked to make sure we weren't missing anything, and thanked us for choosing their business. She was so nice! The inside and outside were clean and comfortable. There are tables for dine in. Plenty of space for people to stand without bumping into each other while waiting to order or waiting for our order. This was my third visit to Poke Hale. I started to order the Tuna Lover's Bowl and the server suggested the Volcano. I followed her suggestion and it was really very good. Poke Hale is consistently good. I've never been there when it is crowded so I hope they are doing well. They certainly deserve people trying them. Being gluten free and pescatarian, I wanted to be sure I could safely eat here and the staff was awesome. They walked me through my options and were very knowledgeable about my restrictions. I felt totally safe placing my order, which was prepared quickly. We ordered for take out and ate at home. It was seriously so good. The food felt fresh, flavorful and filling, but left me wanting more because it was so good! My husband joked that he wanted to cancel our dinner plans the next night so we could get this again. I'm not a big seafood eater so I was somewhat skeptical but I was ultimately impressed and glad I tried it. I tried the shrimp bowl. Plenty of shrimp in the bowl. I wish they had given more tomatoes but I can give better directions next time. I tried whatever sauce Tony ordered for me; he said they also have a garlic sauce which I'd like to try next time. I wish they had meals that included a drink (next time I will be sure to get a drink). Overall, two thumbs up. It probably won't be my GO TO due to the price, but overall it was good. They also have fire sushi burritos and a great selection of appetizers and entrees to the point that I consider Poke Hale an actual restaurant, not just a quick stop. The Tonkatsu is incredible, the Takoyaki is a must have, and if your not into fish, this is the only place I've had a poke bowl that offers cooked chicken. A reliable choice when you need a tasty poke bowl at a bargain price. Poke Hale offers a good number of different protein and topping options, and fills up bowls to make sure that you are well fed at the same price as getting one roll at a sushi restaurant or getting grocery store poke bowls. The fish is not the most amazing you'll get out there, but compared to similar priced options it's fairly good and the scoop sizes are generous. The sides and toppings are probably the strength here, as they are fresh and delicious and give you lots of good ways to create delicious combinations no matter what protein you choose. I ordered carryout here and found that my bowl was well constructed with a logical placement of fish on the side, add-ins evenly divided around the center and middle, and toppings evenly distributed as well. The sauce was also spread throughout and not excessive (so it wasn't too wet or mushy, and didn't override the other flavors). The seating area is surprisingly large both inside and outside, with tables not too densely packed next to each other. Service is friendly and helpful as well. This is like the Chipotle of Poke Bowls. You can go on and choose your bowl and add whatever toppings you want. The process is easy, choose your base, proteins, and then toppings and sauce. I purchased a large and small bowl. The large bowl comes with 3 proteins, the small improvises you with 2. The brown sticky rice was good and mixed well with the poke. You can also purchased bowls that are already designed to fit certain pallets and they make each bowl to order. I also purchased the shrimp dumplings, seaweed salad and miso soup. The soup was disappointing because it tasted bland. However, everything else was flavorful and generous in portion. This is very filling and suffices the "light" and "refreshing" flavors you might seek when getting sushi in a bowl. For a quick service sushi grade restaurant, this is good. I would say each bowl can go for $11-15 each, which can add up if you put on additions with cost, but it's a good and easy fix if you don't want to spend a ton of money on sushi. read more
