    Tuna Lover
    Bob R.

Eating at Poke Hale was a memorable experience. When you first walk in, it doesn't look like it would be anything special. It is very spare and not many decorations. You walk up to the counter and can either order from their kiosk, or order at the counter. They have a nice menu with lots of options. We ordered items suggestions on their regular menu - we chose not to Build our own bowl. My friend ordered the vegetarian bowl and I had the tuna lovers bowl. I need to say how wonderful the two women behind the counter were. Neither of us have had Poke much and don't really know what we like yet. They took the time to explain everything, suggested some options, and were generally very pleasant. Once you order, you sit and they deliver the food to you. For the price, the portion sizes are huge. I thought the quality of the tuna was very good - not outstanding but good enough to truly enjoy. I had mine with sushi rice and added avocado. They came by the table to let me know that some of the tuna was spicy, which I like. So, she brought some more of the spicy sauce and drizzled more over the meal. Also, the presentation was really very nice. Considering I'm not an expert at Poke, and I've only had it a few times, this was by far the best I've had. I do recommend Poke Hale if you are in the area.

Staff is always very friendly and attentive. I generally order pickup, and my food is always made right on time. The interior is pretty bare, but clean and spacious. Food is always well prepared and serving sizes are generous. Shrimp dumplings are a little bland, but the poke bowls are great! Would recommend!

    Hawaii classic was amazing

I was admittedly a little apprehensive about this place, but when we saw the positive reviews we figured it was worth a shot. Being gluten free and pescatarian, I wanted to be sure I could safely eat here and the staff was awesome. They walked me through my options and were very knowledgeable about my restrictions. I felt totally safe placing my order, which was prepared quickly. We ordered for take out and ate at home. It was seriously so good. The food felt fresh, flavorful and filling, but left me wanting more because it was so good! My husband joked that he wanted to cancel our dinner plans the next night so we could get this again. We will definitely be back and this will become a frequent stop in our take out rotation! If you're looking to eat there, there's plenty of seating indoor and out. The restaurant is clean, spacious and open.

Poke Hale is my go-to for everything poke. They also have fire sushi burritos and a great selection of appetizers and entrees to the point that I consider Poke Hale an actual restaurant, not just a quick stop. The Tonkatsu is incredible, the Takoyaki is a must have, and if your not into fish, this is the only place I've had a poke bowl that offers cooked chicken. The portions are huge, the service is friendly and amazing and the food is always fresh. What more can you ask for?

Hubby has been raving about this place for a long time now. We had some time before an engagement and we decided to grab a quick bite before. I'm not a big seafood eater so I was somewhat skeptical but I was ultimately impressed and glad I tried it. I tried the shrimp bowl. Plenty of shrimp in the bowl. I wish they had given more tomatoes but I can give better directions next time. I tried whatever sauce Tony ordered for me; he said they also have a garlic sauce which I'd like to try next time. I wish they had meals that included a drink (next time I will be sure to get a drink). Overall, two thumbs up. It probably won't be my GO TO due to the price, but overall it was good. I'm glad I tried it.

I still enjoy the big pieces of fish and mix of cucumbers, avocado, seaweed with a sprinkle of sesame seeds. There was a time it included edamame but doesn't look like it is included anymore. My kids ordered the spider roll, dragon roll and beef udon that came with a california roll. The rolls were a good size and had a good ratio of rice to other ingredients. The pieces of sashimi are good sized with appropriate amount of rice in each piece. The salmon kama is a nice appetizer. It comes out scorching hot and crispy. It can be tricky to eat because of the bones, but worth the work! I really like the design of the booths with the authentic decor resembling Japanese architecture. I don't like that the tables are consistently sticky when we eat there and if we don't get a booth, the tables are wobbly. No matter where we sit, there is always a table with a wobbly leg. The service is always super welcoming and friendly. Our waiter may have been new and still in training because we waited 24 mins from when we asked for the check until it was brought to us. And even then, I had to ask the busboy to remind our server for the check because he kept walking in and out of the room taking other tables' orders and refilling water. Upon realizing the long waiting time, the server was apologetic and still very kind which I appreciated. As we were leaving all the other staff made a point to say thank yous and good byes.

We thought the sushi was pretty, and had good textures, but wasn't very flavorful. The bulgogi was less pretty, but tasty, with rice and glass noodles and a standard salad. The miso soup was good. For our entrees, we both ordered sushi. I wish I could remember the name of the roll I ordered, but it disappeared from my mind the moment my friend's food came. I ordered one sushi roll, which arrived in 10 pieces on a regular plate. Whatever it was, it was fine. Meanwhile, my friend ordered 2 crunch rolls, which arrived on a massive wooden platter. Twenty pieces in all, but substantially more food than you'd expect from two rolls. And, it was really, really good! We ended up sharing both of our entrees, and had an entire crunch roll leftover to bring home. A few weeks later, I'm still thinking about that spicy crunch. I'll definitely order one for myself the next time I'm there.

Raw fish is perfect for me. Poke Bros is a restaurant where you order at the counter. You select your base, the toppings, the protein, and any sauces. I had sushi rice, a variety of vegetables, ahi tuna, and a hot Korean sauce. I was with my mother who had brown rice with vegetables, no protein, and no sauce. You are served in a nice plastic bowl with a top. The serving size is large so they must assume you're going to take some home with you. It's very convenient. The ambiance is bland. Everything is white. The only real color is the counter where the food adds color (but you have to be on top of it). Tables with plastic chairs, but in fairness, they were comfortable. The servings of rice and vegetables were large. There was very little tuna, however. Everything was fresh and the taste was good. It was disappointing that they skimped on the protein. As for the service - there was one person behind the counter. He was reading or studying, but not paying attention to his customers, and we were the only people there. It's not a five-star restaurant and I didn't expect five-star service. We did try to engage him in conversation, but no luck. The service could improve. I enjoyed the Poke and will gladly try somewhere else next time.

I really do treat this as a takeout only place. As usual, my food was ready on time if not early. The roll servings portion is very nice and generous. I especially loved the kimchi chicken rice, although it was more of a flavorful fried rice with a nice spicy kick. The Bears sushi was also a winner, that thick avocado layer and juicy tempura shrimp were incredible. I also tried the Bento Box D - chicken teriyaki, rice, veggies, California rolls, salad, and tofu soup. The teriyaki was bursting with flavor! Everything was delicious and the portions were huge. The place itself is tiny - only two tables - but the staff were super friendly and attentive. They were really lovely to chat with! One small thing: the guy working there could probably use an apron, as his shirt and pants looked a little food-splattered. And a bit of a clean-up would do wonders - the curtains leading to the kitchen were dusty, and the TVs could use a wipe-down too. Overall, despite the minor cleanliness issues, I would definitely recommend Osaku! The food is incredible, the portions are generous, and the service is great. Give it a try!
