    Salmon Lover Bowl
    Karen C.

I'm very excited for a poke place to open in Libertyville! Poke west opened on 4/12. They are a fast casual poke bowl place. There are a handful of tables inside where you can sit to enjoy your food. The staff were very friendly. The prices are decent with $12-15 per bowl. I got the #1 Salmon Lover bowl. The fish and ingredients were very fresh. It was perfect for lunch. I'll definitely be a regular customer here!

Our server Chad explained the menu in detail, offered recommendations, and took great pride in the restaurant. Everything is made from scratch, and they have a beautiful open kitchen. We started with the octopus, which our friends and Chad both recommended, and it lived up to the hype. They sous vide it so it's super tender, then crisp it for that little crunch you want in an octopus appetizer. The romesco and chorizo combo had us scraping the plate clean. For dinner, my husband had the hanger steak served with a large bone filled with bone marrow, along with brioche, truffle butter, and the Aligot and Brussels sprouts for sides. The Brussels and butternut squash were sweet, spicy, crispy, and salty - just amazing. I had the monkfish, which is very similar to lobster, and it was delicious! For dessert, we shared the crème brûlée, and like everything else we ate tonight, we left no crumbs. We can't wait to go back!

They fully embrace shopping local for their ingredients. The atmosphere is very friendly and relaxing. The interior gives a modern industrial feel. We especially liked the bartender, Brandon. Brandon very was good spirited, and his cocktails were phenomenal. He also gave us some tips on when the farmers markets take place and where to go for live music. Overall, the food was very well seasoned and packed with flavor. The chicken was moist and tender. Probably one of the best pieces of chicken I've ever had. The burger was also absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this spot.

After several visits, it is clear this is a restaurant that understands the fundamentals of fine dining: atmosphere, execution, and a menu that extends well beyond its steakhouse label. What first sets The Tavern apart is its ambiance. The space leans into a dark, romantic, dimly lit aesthetic that feels both polished and inviting. On our most recent visit, we were seated upstairs according to our reservation, and that remains the preferred setting. The quieter noise level above the main floor allows for more comfortable conversation and a more intimate dining experience. Service was solid, if not especially memorable. Our server was efficient and capable throughout the evening, though somewhat lacking in warmth and guidance. Fortunately, the kitchen carried the night with ease. Every entrée at the table was excellent. My wife's lobster was particularly well received, while the steaks were cooked properly, deeply flavorful, and presented with the kind of care expected at this level. Presentation across the board was refined and appealing. The wine program also deserves recognition. The list is extensive, thoughtfully selected, and offers strong choices for diners who appreciate pairing a serious bottle with dinner. The Tavern is undeniably a high-price-point experience, but it largely delivers the quality and atmosphere to justify it. For those seeking a refined steakhouse meal in Libertyville with strong food, notable wine, and an intimate setting, it is easy to recommend.

We typically venture out to Sophia's but we wanted something closer to home (5 minutes away) and also liked that we could walk around downtown Libertyville after. So of management can look her up that way I'll adjust my post to include her name. She made us feel so special and was very attentive. The food was delicious and my husband enjoyed his steak. I'm vegetarian so I got soup, green beans and fries. We will definitely be returning.

Just what Libertyville needed. What a stunning and delicious restaurant!…read more We came in with a party of 8 people (6 adults, 2 kids) for a birthday celebration. Our reservations were at 5:30, which was just before the big rush. It was so helpful to have made a list of what we wanted beforehand, it really helped narrow down our order. The kitchen was so kind to help us find something GF that the kids could eat and made them meatballs and potatoes. We put our food orders in in stages so that we didn't get too much at once. We ordered 12 things from the menu and a number of charcuterie options for the rest of us. They offer a "double portion" of the tapas for larger parties, which is cheaper than ordering two plates. We did that for about 5 of the tapas. We went home with some leftovers but not an exorbitant amount. And everyone left with very happy, full bellies. The best bites were the Alitas, Bresaola, Arroz con Pollo, and the empanadas. Having so much food, it would have been helpful to have staff clearing plates more frequently. We often were flagging someone down to take a stack of empty plates. Overall, a great experience. Would definitely visit again.

That may have something to do with the quality of the dishes. The Brussels sprouts were burnt (way over done and doused with balsamic). The empanadas that we raved about to our friends were also overdone, and actually hard. The squash salad was greens and olives and cucumbers. I ordered an Orange Old Fashioned that tasted as if no bourbon was in it (totally sweet and syrupy) and the glass was sticky. If we weren't were friends we would have raised these issues, but we didn't want to create an awkward evening. This was a very different experience from our first visit and was very disappointing.

The reviews on here are either good or bad. I found this restaurant to be excellent from start to finish. We were greeted with warm smiles and our waitress Teri was also very nice and attentive. The restaurant is somewhat newly decorated and had a warm ambience. While the garden salad with blue cheese dressing and the lobster bisque were both a bit bland, the salmon with hollandaise sauce was the best salmon I have ever had. It was fresh and delicious and did not have the "fishy" taste that salmon usually has. The captain's choice with lobster and shrimp was phenomenal. They subbed out the sherry wine sauce with lemon butter sauce per my request. The lobster tail was more than a generous portion. Twice baked potato substitution was small, but fantastic. The custard dessert was fresh and delicious along with a Key lime pie martini. The French martini with the raspberry vodka instead of vanilla was absolutely fantastic too. I highly recommend you come for the early bird special like we did. I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area! This restaurant definitely earned their five stars!!

It is a noisy place full of older customers that know everyone in the place. Lots of customers hugging the staff, talking with the owners, and other tables. A great atmosphere if you are a local. One of the owners even suggested carrot cake for our desert. Really good by the way. We did see a number of regulars tables that were receiving complimentary appetizers. I get it, but you should treat first time customers the same to make them repeat customers? The issue was with service and how we were treated after we had to get service. Our server disappeared once our main course was ordered. Yes the place was packed, but the server made sure she kept on touching base with the regulars tables and we received less attention. Well like no attention. Well like we had to go to the bar to one of the owners to get our check. Well and when my significant other tried to comment that we had a lack in service the owner walked away from us. She turned a really nice first time experience into a never going back and write a bad review experience. (And my significant other was mad the whole evening, which made the event worse for me.) So even though I wanted to at least give them a 2 star review I had to tie it back to the tip we gave of $1. Regretfully we will not be going back to The Green Room.

I ordered the Pad Thai with tofu, the staple menu item I order each time I visit. My guest ordered the Mongolian beef. My pad Thai came out visibly different than times past. It looks almost watered down and the tofu was not coated and seared with the beautiful crust it normally has. I ate it and it tasted... sour. Normally this pad Thai leans savory over sweet, but this time it just straight up tasted sour. The tofu was nothing to write home about, which is typically not the experience I have here. The Mongolian beef tasted like it had more sear on the meat than actual beef. It tasted over-charred. The rice and veggies were good, but that's kind of a simple feat. I ordered the Pomegrantate martini which was good. The space was also very hot, I understand it's a hot day and a busy restaurant but my legs were dripping in sweat the entire hour we were there. I will give them a try again, because I know from previous experiences the pad Thai was usually great. That tofu is what I keep coming back for! Hopefully next time it'll meet my expectations. This was this past weekend on Friday night.
