We waited for over two hours, patiently, while watching multiple parties get seated before us -- even though they didn't have reservations. It was extremely frustrating and honestly felt discriminatory. The only clear difference between us and the people being seated ahead of us was that we are Hispanic and they were white. No one should ever feel overlooked or treated unfairly because of their ethnicity. We all deserve to be treated with the same respect and fairness. I truly hope this establishment reflects on how they handle their seating process and ensures that all guests are treated equally.

We were in vacation staying in the area and decided to try this place out. We were able to get in as soon as it opened. It was 3 adults who ordered full means and my son ordered fried rice. I like that we got our own table. The chef was very attentive and interacted with everyone in our group. The entire staff was great out water cup of water was always full. Everything was really good. I did notice on the menu that the tofu was more expensive than the chicken I found that a little odd. Our bill came and it was $115 for 3 adults and a cup of fried rice I felt that was a bit pricey. Overall good experience.

We went for lunch not to busy. Started off with a Sapporo beer nice and cold. Ordered steak & chicken combination hibachi style with their yum yum sauce on the side. Yum yum sauce had good flavor. Chicken and steak cooked just right. Good amount of food. Would go back.

If you're near Libertyville craving some sushi or hibachi, this is the spot to visit. Their sushi rolls are delicious! You must try the Dragon Ferrari and OMG rolls. They won't disappoint you. They're full of flavor. It's probably my 4th time coming to this spot and they never disappoint. If you're feeling hibachi, try the stake and shirmp, it's also delicious!

Meh, prefer tsukasa. Left alot to be desired. Not bad... just mediocre. Service was fine, restaurant could be better ventilated for hibachi.

    Ask the Community - Hanakawa

Is it recommended to make reservations for hibachi? I've never done hibachi before and I don't want to annoy anyone!

I don't think reservations are necessary. Perhaps just call ahead if it's a weekend evening and you gave a big group.

The ambiance is smart casual and offers different seating areas; a large dining room with cooking tables, a sushi counter with bar seating and a sports bar area, perfect for a casual after work sushi meal and cocktail. The prices are on par with similar Japanese restaurants (Benihana, Hanakawa) and they've kept several of their most popular entrées and maki on the menu for years and the quality is just as good as it has been for 30 years! Tsukasa is great for large parties and families and has plenty of parking on site.

I called to make the reservation and the person was friendly and quick. 3 of 7 arrived early 3 more came in at the reservation time and 1 came 15 minutes late. Although he was late, the restaurant was patient with us. We were seated and we filled 7 of the 8 seats and we were told we had the entire table to ourselves. The server was nice and got waters and drink orders. After our drinks arrived she gave us a few more minutes to take our food orders. Once our food orders were taken it took a few minutes then our soup and salads arrived. The soup was really good. It had mushrooms and crispy pieces of tempura batter inside. The salad was delicious and the Japanese dressing was really good, the balance of fresh ginger, rice vinegar, and soy sauce. The lettuce was cool and crisp. I ordered the Garlic Shrimp Entree with an extra order of the Golden Shrimp and upgrading to fried rice is a must. The teppanyaki chef was great! He was friendly and did the typical tricks. He did flip the rice in a bowl 49 times in honor of the birthday boys. He tossed the broccoli to 4 of us and we were 3 for 4 with the birthday boys being 2 for 2. My garlic shrimp had a mound of garlic and cooked just right. If the chef doesn't have good timing, it can certainly be over cooked. The golden shrimp had that creamy tasty egg yolk on top of the shrimp which melted like butter. The fried rice is mixed with their teriyaki sauce which is the best I've ever tasted and is my favorite. Now when the garlic from the shrimp gets mixed with my fried rice it elevates it in my opinion. The grilled veggies were seasoned well and was cooked perfectly (not over cooked and still slightly crisp. The night ended with green tea ice cream which was creamy and delicious. Overall, great show my the chef, even better food and had a fun time catching up with the guys. If you want delicious food, come here, you will not be disappointed.

I will describe the place as more of a modern take on Ramen with Korean elements. everything tasted excellent in my opinion. I was torn between getting the yellow curry, Ramen of the day or the pork belly Ramen. To help with the decision They gave me a side of their pork broth to try for the next time I come in. So I ordered the yellow curry Ramen of the day since the pork belly is on their menu daily. The broth for both was so good. Since it was just me dining, I did have plenty of leftovers which were just as good a couple days later. Especially since the tofu in the Ramen really soaked up some of the flavor of the broth. I will definitely come here again, especially for that Tokyo old-fashioned. It was delicious. It was made with a tequila versus a whiskey and I think about it every day.

We also LOVED the umami fries that we got without the fish these were so epic and so tasty And don't you dare leave without getting the saganaki Bao bun! Holy sh** it's so good! Outside of food we also love the ambiance because it's bustling. Coming from living in the city I hate sitting at a quiet restaurant especially when our daughter joins.
