    Miso Ramen
    Paola A S.

Pretty cool and chill ambiance. The service was good and the waiter was very attentive. The food came out surprisingly fast. We ordered the karaage chicken, which was okay. The Miso Ramen had a good flavor but was not as rich as you expect a miso ramen to be. The rest of the ingredients were very good except for the sweet mushrooms which through me off. This place has a lot of potential but lacks the umami

The ramen was delicious so were the eggrolls and gyoza. We had a party of eight on a Friday night. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Cool thing there's a button to call them over when ever you need. We ordered a variety of Ramen. My husband got the Cheez Ramen. I got the miso and added shrimp tempura. Our friends got the beef Ramen and another friend got the shrimp tempura undon. The undon noodles are thicker. Everything was delicious. The mango cloudy beverage was alright it was not sweet, which was good.

I got the spicy Miso ramen, I forgot to get a pic before eating lol. But it was sooooo good!

The place is so cozy, clean and well decorated. My fiancé and I both got miso ramen(I got the spicy one) and an order of egg rolls. The ramen was so delicious I couldn't stop eating we were seated pretty quickly and the staff were polite, welcoming and helpful with our questions. I definitely would return and I would recommend for date night or small group.

This was my first time visiting Kyoto ramen. I decided to check this place out for a lunch date with my husband. The ambiance inside of the restaurant is so cool and we loved the decor, very trendy. For an appetizer I got the gyoza, which was good. The appetizer came out but they never brought any appetizer plates, I think like it was a bit messy after dipping our gyoza in sauce. For drinks I tried the passion fruit lemonade, it was okay. The server was pretty nice, he gave us a run down of the menu and he gave us his recommendations. We tried two ramen bowls, I got the steak ramen. I thought my ramen was good, my husband thought that both of the broths tasted like seaweed. I think he was hoping for more of a bone broth flavor. I like seaweed, so it was fine with me. I think this restaurant is very cool for the area and it's in a great location.

Average. Newly opened, working out some issues. Service inconsistent, food mediocre, lots of room for improvement. Gyoza? Meh. Ramen wasn't as good as I hoped. Restaurant is nicely decorated. I MIGHT give them another chance in the future, but they need to improve first. Sorry. Underwhelming.

Food: 9/10 Food was good and cooked perfectly, the potstickers were nice and crunchy. I didn't see that they offer coke or Pepsi products but they offered different alcoholic and no alcoholic beverages that look great. Service: 10/10 I don't think people are aware that there is a button on the table that needs to be pressed whenever they need service so I did see a few people standing up to get their attention. Service was fast and friendly. Ambiance: 8/10 The same song was playing over and over on the speakers which did get annoying, but it didn't affect the ambience as much. Lots of cool visuals.

Very good food. The location is cool has big murals that are so pretty. The ramen had such a good taste especially on a cold day. Service is good not overbearing and has a ring option if you do need something.

We came in around 2 on a Monday, it wasn't busy although there were others in the restaurant. The service was great. Most importantly the ramen was superb. Normally we drive 30+ minutes to get authentic ramen, so it's amazing to have something great in town. I had the shredded beef ramen, husband got the pork belly, daughter tofu and son meatball. They were all fantastic. Cannot wait to come back again.

    Chicken veggie egg rolls

Food was good, would have been great if pork tasted fresh not frozen. Egg rolls were excellent. Service was okay. Forgot to take picture of ramen.

    Love the interior

The interior was cool. The waiter was really nice and helpful. The food was okay. I've had plenty of Ramen and it was average. It was a little water down but there was still some flavor in it. The toppings and meat was delicious. Ramen is about their broth and I wish it was more flavorful. The shrimp tempura batter was really good. But the dipping sauce was really salty. It threw off the batter. With that tempura batter, it will soak up a lot of sauce so be careful not to over dip.

I really enjoyed - had the chicken ramen. Very rich broth, crisp slice chicken spread on top. Pork was said to be delicious as well - will be back! Service was very quick on a Saturday night at 930pm. Very clean, and nicely decorated.

My favorite items to get here are the Tom Yum soup, they let you choose the protein and the spice level and have an option for both bowl or a cup. The cup is about a pint size which is a great portion. I love getting the Tofu with this soup because I feel like it soaks in the flavor and breaks up the yummy spices. For the different levels of spice, just a heads up that there is a huge difference for a medium in a cup versus a medium in a bowl. Both are delish, but the cup medium is SPICY in the best way. I also really enjoy their basil fried rice with chicken. You can take the sauteed char from the basil and the medium in this is also spot on for us. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to try a higher heat, because Thai chilis are no joke! All in all, we frequent here often since moving up here and are so glad to have a staple in the area and in our regular rotation.

Hwang Dae Gham is located in a non-descript strip mall with some closed store fronts, so plenty of parking. My daughter and I were in town and needed to visit in the Northern suburbs, so afterwards decided to have lunch at a place that had meaning for us. Unfortunately, it was closed on Mondays so chose another Korean restaurant. Hwang Dae Gham ended up a great choice. We came soon after it opened, and it was already busy. It is a family owned business, and they obviously take great pride in their food and service. We had a chance to eat a lot of their non-BBQ offerings, and every one of them was excellent. Started with two appetizer portions: mul-mandu (small, bite-size steamed dumplings...supposed to be only pork but I swear I tasted seafood/fish in it...very good...reminded me of eating pelmini in it's size and density); the other was a small portion of japchae which we devoured...usually not a fan of this style of Korean mung-bean noodles, but really enjoyed it. We got two entrees (didn't share for once, so each got what we wanted). I got the squid bibim-bap (mixed rice in a stone bowl)...it's important to look at the pictures, cause it clearly explains the difference between the normal bibim-bap. They basically put a large portion of the squid-bokum, on top of rice...missing the normal cold greens. It was different, and I loved it. It was served with the requisite gochujang sauce, but you don't need it. It's already pre-seasoned. My daughter got the Gamja-Tang (spicy soup with potato and pork neck), and she really enjoyed it....like most Korean hot soups, great for a chilly February Chicago day. All of it comes with side dishes and purple rice. We especially liked the sweet glazed potatoes, picked cucumbers, and sliced mung bean pancake. Service was very warm and consistent throughout. It was just a beautiful opportunity to have a great meal and spend a lot of time with my adult daughter, reminiscing about the past and planning for the future. The entire Hwang Dae Gham environment was very conducive to that. I really wish I had two stomachs so I could sample the other dishes on the menu...all of it looked so good. We ended up bringing home most of the entrees, and it was delicious re-heated. Really inspires me to explore K-Town more when I get home.

Food: I got the Spicy Tonkotsu since it was advertised as a best seller. It was delicious with the highlight being the very flavorful broth. Noodles were fresh & yummy too. The cost was around $15. Ingredients included chaushu, runny egg cooked perfectly, mushrooms & beanspouts. The food was served in a disposable bowl, which did take away from the experience. I'm not sure if this is standard practice now since I've not had an actual mall meal in decades. Service: With a smile so it was good. Ambiance: The food court itself is well renovated, clean & nice.
