Service was good, fried rice was FANTASTIC. Highly recommend for anyone starving post-six-flags.

First time eating Thai. Delicious. I only wish it was like a sit down restaurant. Had to go up to order. Plastic dishes used. However, loved the food and will go back. read more

Stopped in at Royal Thai in Gurnee and had a really good vegetarian meal. The vegetable dumplings were my favorite, crispy and golden with a great dipping sauce. The Pad Kee Mao was also a hit, with wide noodles, tofu, plenty of veggies, and fresh basil. The Basil Fried Rice was good, though not the best I've had. The Thai iced coffee was excellent, sweet, creamy, and strong. It's a low-key, hole-in-the-wall type of spot, but the food is really good and there are plenty of vegetarian options. Would definitely come back for the dumplings and Pad Kee Mao. read more

This was one of the best Thai food in northern suburbs. We were at gurnee mills mall and instead of having like crappy mall food, we decided for a sit down restaurant with decent food. This is not too far from the mall. Usually Asian restaurants don't really focus on the interior decor unless they are upscale. The good thing about this place was I even liked their decor, which gave a good vibe. Only different thing was the servers didn't wait at the table, you had to order at the counter. And the silverware was more like plasticware.. Food 5 stars Ambiance 5 stars Service was quick read more

Our go to Thai restaurant in the area. Perhaps I'm being picky with the various locations but when we come here I can always count on the flavors being spot on. My favorite items to get here are the Tom Yum soup, they let you choose the protein and the spice level and have an option for both bowl or a cup. The cup is about a pint size which is a great portion. I love getting the Tofu with this soup because I feel like it soaks in the flavor and breaks up the yummy spices. For the different levels of spice, just a heads up that there is a huge difference for a medium in a cup versus a medium in a bowl. Both are delish, but the cup medium is SPICY in the best way. I also really enjoy their basil fried rice with chicken. You can take the sauteed char from the basil and the medium in this is also spot on for us. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to try a higher heat, because Thai chilis are no joke! All in all, we frequent here often since moving up here and are so glad to have a staple in the area and in our regular rotation. read more

Got Royal Thai delivered for lunch and it all came packed securely. I ordered kung pao chicken with side of white rice, cucumber salad, and iced Thai tea. Everything was sooo delicious and the portion sizes were perfect. I also like that you can choose the spice level for each dish. The fresh cumber salad and creamy iced Thai tea paired so well with the spiciness of the kung pao chicken. If I'm ever in the area again I'd love to come back and maybe try a spicier level! read more

I ordered food from this restaurant through DoorDash yesterday as I was craving Thai food and I'm visiting the area. I had the pad kee mow (drunken noodles) with chicken and a Thai tea. This is probably one of the best Thai foods I've ever had. It was very tasty and had lots of flavor. The Thai tea was also decent in size and tasted really good. I would definitely order from here again. read more

The chicken satay appetizer was tasty, though the portion of peanut sauce was the size of a thimble. My pad Thai with tofu was so salty that it was inedible, and it did not have pad Thai flavors (I've had this dish in the homes of people from Thailand as well as in Thai restaurants across the U.S.). I could only eat a few bites before throwing it away. The employees at the counter were kind, polite, and fast. The atmosphere in the restaurant was tranquil and quiet. read more

Really great tasting food! You order your food and pay at the front when you walk in, and they bring the food to you at your table when ready (if you're dining). It's a nice casual setting inside the restaurant, however, it seems a bit self service where you clean up after yourself when you're done. The food served are in disposable takeout containers, plastic forks and napkins. Everything is set to go. The food, however, is delicious! We enjoyed everything we ordered. There's a parking lot outside for easy parking. I had the pad kee mao which was so good. Husband and kids each had their pad see ew, which they enjoyed. Combo fried rice was also good. We ordered the Thai Chicken Wings (hot) and that was so tasty - it is not very spicy! Crab rangoons were a bit smaller than what we're used to, but it tasted good. My kids devoured the chicken potstickers. We definitely will be coming back. read more

A gem! It's worth the drive. Service was excellent & food was delicious. A new fav as we trek from Chicago to Wisco!

Listen to the reviews. We hadn't been here in a bit but the food is just mediocre now. It's to be pretty authentic and now it's just panda express at twice the price. No waiters or waitresses anymore. Order at the counter and bus your own table. read more

It is an order and then sit down place, but it is still comfortable to eat there. They serve the food in plastic so you can add a lid and take it with you. The food was amazing!! They cooked my pork perfectly. Not to hard like many other places. I had spice level 2 and I could feel it in my mouth but it did not linger. My husband had spice level 3 and it was what he was expecting. His nose started to run toward the end of his dish. As for dessert, the taro custard was perfect. The sweet rice melted in your mouth and the custard was smooth and silky. The staff was wonderful and brought our food to the table. They have outside seating if you prefer. The lunch special comes with one egg role. We were so hungry we forgot to get a picture read more

To be honest, Royal Thai is hit or miss... maybe they have a rotation of chefs in the kitchen. I always order the same thing, and it's sometimes inconsistent (amount of veggies vs meat, amount of sauce, cook on the noodles, etc.) Overall, flavors are good and delivery always arrives hot. read more

Serendipity. What a great Thai restaurant. It's a very nice place, decorated with high quality Thai art, it's really very lovely. Very close to I-94, so it's my new designated meeting spot for friends from the Chicago area to meet me half way from the Milwaukee area. I don't know it I said that right, it's about halfway between Milwaukee and Chicago in distance. Good selection of common Thai restaurant choices and some more unusual stuff. I haven't been there enough yet for them to serve the food up properly spicy but it's tasty nonetheless. They seem to do most of their business as take out, but the place is so elegant and yet affordable, I highly recommend you come in and sit down to eat. The one problem is that they rely almost entirely on non-recyclable disposable serving ware. read more

My favorite!! Food is always good! Dining in is a limited experience. since COVID but I love the owner! She owned the restaurant in Chicago when I lived there. I miss the spring rolls which are no longer on the menu. Bummer!! read more

Carry out service is good. Ambiance is OK Food quality has gone down significantly. Prices have gone up significantly. Since the original owner retired and handed the business to a family member who is more interested in money than loyal clientele. Gurnee needs a new Thai restaurant. read more

Ordered take out from here tonight and it was delish! Ordered online and it was quick and easy. Food was ready just at the right time, freshly made and hot. The inside is decorated beautifully, calm and peaceful with a few smaller tables for dining. I absolutely loved the crab rangoons, they came with a yellow sauce maybe pineapple. Different from what I'm typically used to see w Rangoons but so so good. The pad Thai was Great. Filled with veggies which I love. Ordered 2 different fried rices and they were good and each had a unique flavor. We did order medium and they were not spicy at all so idk if it's just lightly spiced or they forgot. So glad we checked out a different thai spot in the area! read more

One of our favorite Thai restaurants. We often order from the Royal Thai in the city, but when we're in the burbs, this Gurnee location is a bit too far for delivery. We took a chance anyway, and everything still arrived hot, except for the Crab Rangoon and Thai Chicken Wings. The cream cheese filling wasn't creamy and smooth like it usually is, and the wings were a bit soggy/rubbery. The flavors were there, so I know it was because of the long distance. We'll need to quickly pop them in an air fryer! Asian Eggplant with Shrimp and Royal Thai Noodles with Tofu were both my first time ordering, and they were tasty. We often order Pad Thai and Rama Noodles. Panang Noodles, Pad Kee Mao, Pad See Ew, and Pad Woo Sen are also personal go-to's. read more

We went to Royal Thai, first visit, for takeout. We ordered shrimp pad Thai and beef pad see ew along with a cucumber salad. The portions were generous, one order would have been enough. I felt the food was average, lacked flavor. That said, we will order again from Royal Thai. Our big disappointment was the shrimp pad Thai. The order contained four or five small shrimp, Given the cost, there should have been more shrimp. read more

What happened?? I was bragging so much about the Thai food here I gave it a second shot and boy I tell ya, it went from 100 to zero real quick! $68 worth of food, and everything was 1/5. So much oil and grease in every entree. The pad thai I had before was pretty good! But this time it's was beyond non authenticity. The noodles were brittle, pad Thai sauce taste like all the other 2 entrees I ordered (pineapple fried rice and pad sa ewe " was meh. I def won't be spending $60 on lunch again here again, maybe only dinner time it's good? Pad Thai: 1/5 bland to the taste, chicken dry, OILY Pad sa ewe 2/5 SOMEWHAT tasteful, soggy noodles and there were barely any vegetables Pineapple Fried Rice 1/5 I asked for spicy and got bland, added shrimp and got like 4 pieces, barely any pineapples perhaps 6 cubes. Don't order this Not pictured is the Thai tea, which came out great but how could one mess up on Thai tea to begin with? The spicy Thai chicken wings was definitely frozen then thawed wings and drenched in sauce.. nothing authentic about it. Definitely not worth the buck. I don't know where this place went wrong but I won't be back. read more

Was craving thai food after a beach day and decided to pop in. There's not many thai options in the area so trying this place out was so worth it. Service was SUPER fast, I honestly didn't have to wait more than 8 mins for my food. I got the Traditional Pad Thai, Chicken Satay with peanut sauce and a Thai iced coffee. All were delicious!! The restaurant was very clean and offered both dine-in and takeout. Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. I would definitely come back! So glad I found this gem of a restaurant. read more

We were nearby and happened across Royal Thai since it had so many good reviews. I placed an online order and it was ready for pickup within ~30 minutes. I had the kow soy (egg noodles in yellow curry broth) with medium spice level. It came with a tiny amount of noodles so I was still hungry afterwards. I had to add rice in order for it to be more filling. It was only noticeably spicy/mildly spicy to me. Hubby had the pad Thai (thin rice noodles stir-fried with egg, tofu, onion, bean sprouts, and ground peanuts) which was bland. My in-laws shared an order of chow mein (egg noodles stir-fried with egg, beansprout, bamboo, bokchoy, cabbage, carrots, onions) which was too salty so they didn't finish their dish. read more

The food here is tasty and delicious, wonderful service and warm ambiance. Will always be coming back to this wonderful place!

I was skeptical to try the spicy basil, I couldn't find any recent reviews. I got the medium spicy basil and added scallops and it did not disappoint. The sauce had a little kick, but it wasn't overpowering. The veggies were cooked well and weren't super soft or chewy. The scallops were delicious, and the food was warm. I will definitely be getting this dish again! read more

Terrible food, no service, food served on styrofoam and plastic forks. The nicest thing in the whole place is the ceiling. Don't go there to eat, because they don't want you to. They really only want pick up and carry out! read more

Have you ever had such a disappointing dining experience that you couldn't wait to go home to write a review? Not because there was hair or a dead bug in the food. Not because you waited 2 hours for cold food. Not because the servers were rude. Simply because it was so disappointing that you felt you had to warn others. I want to be clear that this review is not about the two young ladies who took our order. They were cordial and polite enough. This is not about them. This is about the dining experience and the food. I gave this place two stars. One for being open, and another for the ample parking. There aren't a lot of Thai options in the area, so we really wanted this to be good. The first disappointment came when we weren't seated by a host/server. Instead, you're given menus, asked to take a seat, and when you're ready, you place your order at the counter. You then pay for your food and expected to tip at this point in time. So one has to ask oneself, "Will my food taste better and will I get better service if I tip well?" So I tipped and hoped for the best. We then had to gather our own water in a styrofoam cup, styrofoam plates, and plastic utensils. The food came out pretty fast, and was brought out in plastic take out containers on a metal tray and placed on the table. So at this point, we really wanted the food to taste good. Unfortunately, we were disappointed again. The Pad Thai noodles was definitely not Pad Thai noodles. They served it with peanuts but it was definitely NOT Pad Thai. It tasted like it was burnt, but it wasn't. The seafood curry was so watered down that it really was just yellow-orange colored water. The shrimp was most likely frozen cooked shrimp in a bag, The vegetables were certainly not fresh and also probably frozen in a bag. Our son couldn't even take more than a couple of sips of his chicken (but can't find the chicken anywhere) ramen. So we were just done and ready to go. We grabbed some lids for the take out containers, none of which fit properly. We should have just thrown out the food, but it seemed like such a waste for a $60 meal. Anyway, if you're looking for a nice dining experience, this is not the place to go. If you're looking for a cafeteria experience with food that tastes like it was just reheated frozen food, then this is the place for you. But honestly, you're better off going to a place like Panda Express. You know what to expect, you can see the food being cooked, and it's half the price. This was NOT a "Royal Thai" dining experience. read more

Maybe it was just an off day, but this was my first time at the restaurant. Ordered 4 separate Pad Thai with various proteins and spicy levels, all to go. Upon getting back to the hotel and opening the boxes, one was burnt and tasted awful, had to close the lip and toss it. 2 orders were so salty they were barely tolerable, and one was fine. Since they were all Pad Thai, I figured it was a good test of their consistency in cooking. It was terrible, but it was too late to return to the restaurant. Very disappointing. read more

A few weeks ago, my family and I were craving some Thai food and decided to order from here. I placed the order on grubhub to have the order delivered to us. The delivery did take a while since they were super busy. I usually order pad thai, but I decided to try something different. I ordered the pad won sen, which is very thin noodles with egg, onion, beef, carrots, and special sauce. It was very good! I think this may be my new favorite. I also had wonton soup, which was also good. My dad tried pad thai with beef for the first time and really liked it. My mom had the golden cashew nuts with shrimp We all shared some egg rolls, which were crunchy and tasted really good.I am addicted to their egg rolls. I wish they gave me more than two egg rolls. The sweet and sour pineapple dipping sauce was the perfect dipping sauce that compliments the egg rolls. read more

Came here for a double date. They are not doing table service currently but you can order at the counter and eat there. Our food took a little bit because I think they accidentally gave it to another table. They were also super busy with pickup for Friday night. Sampler - cucumber salad was crunchy sweet and tart. Fried rice was tasty dipped into the sweet yellow curry. Pad Thai was sweet and savory. Chicken was tender. Spicy wings had a nice fried flavor and a little kick. Pad Kee Mao - the bamboo shoots in here had a very prominent taste Overall solid unhealthy takeout food. Flavors were very strong and I was pretty thirsty after. read more

Good price. Nice portion. I finding Thai food around great wolf lodge and I try this place. Very good price and chili is spicy. I like it

I grabbed some Pad Thai carry out. The service was decent and my food was ready as they said it would be. The carry out order was organized and came with everything I needed. I ordered chicken pad Thai with extra chicken (though I couldn't tell) and added vegetables (though it seemed like just a few pieces of broccoli). The pad Thai was edible, but wasn't special compared to other restaurants that I've tried. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable. read more
