I will give 0 start for there customer service. Took my order at 5:40 pm through UBER EATS and cancelled at 6:22 pm from store when they see that I had $30 off from UBER eats on my order.When I stopped by at 6:30 pm they put a 15 year old young kid name LANCE in front of me.He took my order and made it by stating that they will remake my order as they canceled from store and after making order asked me to pay for it.I was already charged one time by UBER eats and now they want me to pay for it. And someone should call gurnee police for blocking street in front of restaurant so no one should get in accident in parking lot. This was some very tasty food. Our kids normally pad see ew and fried rice , and here it was thumbs up all around. We also tried some new to us dishes, and came away quite happy. We dined in, but as it's a smaller dining area (and no fountain drinks) you may find it better to order carryout. read more

Food was great, been going there for years. Place is cleaned, and if the health department inspector says to you they would eat there then you do. Portions are good size and the service is great. We rarely eat out anymore prices are ridiculously high with all these little add ones that are being passed on to the customer, charged if you use a credit card , they add on the tip to your check, and usually ended up not happy. For 2 people to go out you spend easily anymore 125- 150 with the added tip. Now they are adding a bar tip on to your bill. Anyway being in the business I have a few great places we go to and for a local Thai place that's reasonably priced Royal Thai is it! read more

I thought the food was delicious and the people working there are very nice. The decor is adorable. Those are the nice things. Overall I was still disappointed. We paid right around $50 for our two meals which included two Thai samplers, two egg rolls and an order of pot stickers. We ordered at the counter, paid for bottles of water and sat at a table in a dining room that was so chilly we had to leave our jackets on. The tables were all sticky because the disinfectant used on the wood tables ruined the finish. We were called to the counter to get our trays of food, served on disposable dishes with plastic forks. After we ate we cleared our tables into a garbage bin that was overflowing. Again, we paid fifty bucks for this experience. Obviously no tip was necessary but wow. If you're looking to order in you might not be disappointed but as a potential dining room customer, we won't be back. read more

I'm reducing the stars since my previous reviews because the food is still okay but a little overpriced and under seasoned for Thai food. However, the biggest reasons for this mediocre review are related to using their website to order food and prepay tonight. Two things made my experience less than savory. First, their own website adds $1.50 to your order for the privilege of picking it up yourself, which honestly makes no sense to me. What other restaurants are doing this? None with which I'm familiar. Second, and worse in my opinion, was this email I received which noticed while I was waiting for my food to be finished: "Your credit card was charged an additional $4.00 for an order adjustment at your request. If this change was done in error please call Royal Thai at (847) 244-2409. Depending on your bank, 2 simultaneous transactions may appear on your statement. The original transaction will be dropped from your statement typically within 5 business days." This must be a common policy, hence the boilerplate note. When I asked about the unauthorized upcharge, they said the website had the wrong price for a bowl of tom yum soup ($7 on the website, $9 corrected). They said they had asked the manager to increase the price on the website, but they had not corrected it. To displease me more, I ordered it medium spicy, and it was mild. Imagine going to a store with prices written on items at the shelf and increased at the register?! That wouldn't stand, and neither should this, especially with the lingering double charge. While the workers are friendly, and I got a decent yet milder version of what I expected, overcharging me by what calculate to $5.50 in total when the prices are already inflated makes me wish we had better Thai options in Gurnee. read more

Today was another day of takeout. The food was ready in fifteen minutes. The temperature of the food was hot upon arrival. Customer service was wonderful with a polite and courteous staff member at the counter. The Thai iced tea is always a delicious treat with just enough cream and sugar. This is an excellent drink in the summer or winter. I ordered the red curry dish extra spicy, which is both healthy and tasty. I had a choice of meat, seafood or tofu in the red red curry dish. I chose to try the tofu, which was tasty. For meat and seafood lovers, the combo fried rice is an excellent choice. The meat and seafood is fresh. We hadn't been here since before Covid and were excited to return. So bummed by our experience. No regular iced tea. Vegetable dumplings were a gelatinous greasy mess of dough. I paid $5 extra for scallops with my pad Thai and received squid which I hate btw. Few veggies and microscopic tofu as well. When I explained the mistake, the girl at the register just gave me a blank stare. Literally. She didn't even get her manager. This is a great spot for take outs! We ordered today (Christmas day) and got everything pretty fast! Their combination fried rice is life!!! And the Chicken rama is one of my favorites, lightly spicy (you can choose how spicy you want your food to be) creamy and filling. Pad thai was a little bit dry, but still good. Had a super tasty meal here today. Per the hostess' recommendation I got the Pad Se Ew with tofu and the Spring Rolls (vegetarian) along with a side of the peanut suace. Everything was delicious. The spring rolls were crispy, though I wish the serving size was larger, the Pad Se Ew had lots of flavor and the peanut sauce was on point. They're still operating primarily on a COVID safe take-out model. I ordered at the counter and they have a few tables to sit at, but it clearly isn't set up for people to eat in right now. Had the Spicy Chicken Pad Thai and the pork fried rice. Both very good! If you don't have a high tolerance for spice stick with the mild.

I have tried their soup, it tastes delicious and satisfies our cravings in cold weather. However, their fried rice was okay. I got a few chunks of white rice. Taste is fine though. A typical Thai restaurant, peaceful and not too crowded and the food didn't take too long to get to us. read more

Well I was craving for Thai food and decided to try this place out after work. Despite they allowed dining in it was unorthodox approach to dining in. They treated it out as carryout to paying 1st. Weird. Anyways had a craving for Thai cuisine and this place look nice outside until I experience this order to go and sit down like fast food. That is why I said on questions this would not be good for groups. Anyways the Thai ice tea was so so if not bland. They decided to deliver all my order in one tray which took awhile. Despite not following Catholic rules of lent never I didn't order any beef, pork or lamb on Friday. I had chicken tom kha which was so so ok. It has a subtle taste of curry but the texture was more like cream of chicken for Thai. Disappointing. The shrimp shumai was good but that's more Chinese that Thai custard since they were out of fish cakes on their menu. The yellow curry I ordered which I use tofu and a scallop since it was supposed to be no red meat day was delicious however they separated the thai spices despite asking how hot did I want it. Overall it was three stars but I wouldn't want to come back here for authentic Thai which is a disappointment up in Gurnee Waukegan area. I absolutely love it here. It may not look like much outside but don't let that stop you from checking them out. The inside is beautifully decorated and very clean. This place is good for families, dine in, or take out. I've called in a take out order before and they're good about having your order ready within 15-29 minutes. I've also come in to eat during lunch and the service is excellent - friendly and attentive. It was nice that we did not wait long for the the food. I've ordered the combination Thai fried rice and it's absolutely delicious. During the dine in experience I ordered beef salad and chicken ramen. The beef salad was very flavorful! The meat was also very tender which is nice because in the past I've experienced other restaurants that have had the meat too chewy. That is not the case here. I also ordered chicken ramen and it was bursting with flavor. They put a good amount of ingredients, so you're not just eating the ramen noodles towards the end. The price is excellent...for the quality of food and service this place is well priced. I will definitely come back here again. They also have some Vietnamese food which I will try next time. The family and I went to Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee, IL for a short family vacation. We didn't want to eat the food at the resort all the time and wanted to try something else. We found Royal Thai and decided to give it a try. We ordered to go. Food was very good and staffs were very friendly. The interior decorations were very cozy but also had a lot of cultural to it, it felt very nice. Mannnnny years ago when they first opened in Gurnee, I ordered their Pad Thai and it was Horrible!! Ever since, I never stepped foot in that restaurant. It probably has been 5-6 years ago. I recently saw their yelp ratings and the reviews from fellow yelpers and decided to give this place another try. I'm glad I did. I got their chicken pad Thai again and it wasn't bad. I obviously had better but this wasn't horrible like when I first had it years ago. I ordered take out and shortly after calling them, my food was ready in about 6mins. I also went on a weekday, 30mins after they opened so there wasn't many people at the restaurant. The inside of the restaurant looked clean and tidy. I'm not sure why my pad Thai didn't come with peanuts. It was missing a flavor. But they also gave me a few pieces of tofu with my chicken. I know the tofu is fried but it was super greasy with a bad after taste. Besides that, the pad thai wasn't bad at all. I will stop by again to try another dish. read more

The place: When you walk in, you get the feeling you're walking in to a large space. The ceiling is high, draped with richly colored fabrics and with golden parasols hanging upside down. The walls are decked out with traditional- looking Asian artwork. There's a bar against the back wall, but I didn't see anyone use it while we were there. As a rough estimate, I'd say they seat between 40 and 50 comfortably (read: *rough* estimate). The location: It's in a strip mall, next to a Benjamin Moore paint store. Parking abounds. You should be able to see their sign from Grand. The food: I got the pad woo sen (spelling...). The noodles were perfect--light, stir fried, and everything I wanted. The broccoli was fresh, and the tofu was well prepared. Yes, if you're a vegetarian, you have a choice between vegetables or tofu in the place of your "meat." I had plenty of food leftover that I'll be eating for lunch today. Hubsy got the rama noodles at a medium spice level which turned out to be perfect. He was a little surprised that the noodles were battered and fried, but it sounded like he enjoyed the texture. LOTS of sauce in this dish, I'm guessing it's coconut milk and curry based. Very tasty. The service: Attentive. Possibly ready for the place to close. I get it, we waltzed in at 8pm before a 9:30pm close. We didn't linger. The price: Reasonable. I paid $22 for Hubsy and I to get our respective entrées. Honestly, for the quality of the food, it was well worth it. I was happy with that price. Food was delicious, service was fast, and the decor was pretty. The square it's located in was pretty much dead but there were at least 5-6 parties dining and several came in for pickup orders. For appetizers, we ordered the crab rangoon. It came with 7 pieces filled with mostly cream cheese but what stole the show for me was their pineapple sauce. For entrees, my boyfriend ordered the Thai sampler which came with cucumber salad, 2 Thai chicken wings, chicken yellow curry, chicken pad Thai, and vegetable fried rice. All for $15. I got the duck curry which came with cucumber salad, 2 potstickers, duck curry, vegetable fried rice, and chicken pad Thai. All for $16. I love that the duck curry actually had big pieces of duck that were all meat (no bones, fat, or skin). These two dishes were part of the chef special. Both didn't come with white rice, which is fine since it did come with fried rice. Everything tasted delicious and the portion for the pad Thai and was substantial considering how much food we each got for our main. Everything we ordered was delicious! read more

If u have an gluten issues DO NOT EAT HERE! We have gotten sick after being told it was all gluten free and msg free. Which have since found out is not the truth. Restaurants need to understand this is not a fad but a real issue for people. Some of us get sicker than others. I am throughly disappointed and will never recommend this place to anyone. Tell the truth so people like me can make an informed decision. To say I am disgusted doesn't even cover it. No comment on service or ambiance. I give this place no stars but that isn't possible. I picked up sweet-and-sour chicken lunch special. It was $10.90. Quite filling. The food was made fresh, and the rice was actually pretty good. Also came with an eggroll, very tiny, but packed with flavor and was made fresh. Definitely a place to check out. Inside it is kind of small. But nonetheless you can dine in. This place was a good find. We just recently came across it through Yelp and decided to check it out. We went here for dinner before catching a late show of a movie. We got here at 9 pm and so they were not busy. That was good. The ambiance and decor was nice. The service was prompt. The menu had good variety. We ordered Tod Mun (Fish Cakes) and steamed Shrimp wontons for appetizers and Royal Thai Noodles and Rama Noodles for the entrées. All of that was good in taste. The fish cakes were some of the best I have had. They were meaty & juicy (b/c of the sweet & sour sauce on top). The steamed wonton were nice too. The Rama noodles had fried wide noodles in a peanut sauce with veggies and I got it with chicken. The sauce was pretty good. I had asked for extra spicy and it was on mark for it. The Royal Thai Noodles were good as well but not as tasty as the Rama noodles. We enjoyed our meal. The service was good. Our server was helpful in us choosing our entrées. The prices are slightly high for some entrées but not bad or expensive. They have a good desserts variety as well. I am glad I found a new Thai place to go to. I'll be coming back here for sure. After a long day at Six Flags Great America, my friends and I wanted to grab dinner before handing back for a long drive back home. Royal Thai happened to be close by, but we actually drove the wrong direction away from it and was initially not planning to eat here but so glad that we made the loop back around to eat here! Although the outside looks small and not overwhelming impressive, the interior decorations were beautiful and the plating of our food was equally as amazing. The wait staff was also extremely kind and attentive to refilling our water, and kindly bought out warm water when I asked for it. I ordered Duck & Noodles and it tasted delicious, with just the right amount of duck and noodles. Granted I was hungry when I arrived but I finished everything and even most of the broth because the dish was that good. My friend ordered green tea ice cream, which came in three scoops and was so rich and creamy at an affordable price. If I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely take the opportunity to visit this place again. I already told my boyfriend that we should come visit here if given the chance. Fresh and delicious authentic Thai cuisine!! Standouts are definitely the vegetable Pad See Ew, Green Curry Tofu and Pad Thai, but I've tried a lot of the veggie items on the menu and all were amazing - much better than Thai food I've gotten in the city (I live in Chicago). Also the Crab Rangoon and Vegetable dumplings were just....chefs kiss. I had a strong hankering for chicken Pad Thai for lunch. I've worked about 3 minutes from this place for the past 5 years, and this was my first opportunity to give it a shot. I'm a raving Tina's fan, because it's super delicious, privately-owned, amazing service, and fairly priced. However, sometimes I get adventurous and today, lucky for me, was RT. I ordered mine with extra chicken, extra spicy...and I got exactly that. A huge portion with tender noodles, abundant chicken, and FIRE HOT! I ordered take-out and the lady was very sweet and friendly as well, which says a lot of pride in her product and appreciation for her customers. Everything I love about Tina's, I love about here...except one thing: to-go presentation. Not enough to knock of a star, but Pad Thai is best when the sprouts are served raw on top with crushed peanuts, as opposed to being tossed together. But next time I have a noodle craving, I'm going to give the Pad See Ew a try...already dreaming about it! read more
