this review goes out to the Pakistani lady that works there, she's kind of short and old just a description. This lady gives out free food to her friends and she gives pretty large portions, i have went to this place about 4 times hoping i would get another employee working there but it's always the same lady and she always gives the same quality food which is a lot of rice and half of everything else she's supposed to give. SHE GIVES THE TOPPINGS ON THE POLE BOWL WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING she puts half a scoop of everything and sometimes she completely just dosnt add something. I have witnessed her give free food to her friends that come by the store or give them large portions of food that the lid can barely close. I guarantee you she will deny any of these allegations towards how she is working in this place but check the cameras or ask customers and see what they have to say about her. whenever she gives me food/bowl it ALWAYS half full and i know this isn't normal at all becasue the other locations i go to their poke bowl is always full or atleast NEAR the top. Please I recommend someone talk to this lady if things do not change i'd recommend firing her because she's blatantly wasting supplies by giving her friends free food and giving normal customers half of what their supposed to get. Also another thing is that when she's talking to customers she knows she holds up the line by a lot and i mean a lot i have been late coming back to work because of her holding up the line by talking. Was surprised at how good the food was! You can choose rice, salad, or both as your base. Good assortment of preselected options, or you can build your own. Proteins were good and fresh, and I liked the assortment of toppings you can add. All the ingredients tasted fresh and were prepared well. A little bit pricier option for lunch, but worth it. My only critique is that I wish they had a kid sized portion. I didn't want to waste the leftovers but also don't like keeping poke, and hesitate to bring my kids here because it's too much for them. The 2 girls that I always see there are so nice. I go about 3 times a week. Gina is one of the girls, super sweet. Only issue is that you need to check on the "notes" they miss that a bunch. Tired Pole Bros again and was a little disappointed, I wanted to love this place. Customer service was okay. The avocado was ripe, which I really appreciate! The seaweed was good. Edamame, crab salad, and rice were all okay. Sweet soy was good. The tuna and shrimp just missed the mark for me. They were out of the marinated tuna which was a little disappointing, the flavor was great last time. The tuna was better, not as tough as the last time, however it didn't make me want to come back for more. The shrimp wasn't as fresh as last time. This place close to Great Wolf Lodge. I ordered make your own bowl with half-half. Half marinated tuna and spicy salmon. Whatvi like from this is the spicy tuna is not minced tuna! Which is a plus. Other place will just serve minced tuna/salmon for spicy one. You can pick a lot of variants of topping. They are really generous with the toppings. I'm so glad Gurnee has its own poke restaurant! Poke Bros is a much-needed addition to our sea of franchises in the village. Fresh, simple, and delicious, you can order from a list of predesigned menu items which differ mainly by protein choices. These range from veggie through tuna, salmon, shrimp, and even chicken. If you prefer, you can build your own custom bowl Chipotle- or Subway-style, and have your bowl made to order. I like that you can choose your base which includes white, brown, and sushi rice or salad. The toppings are ample including avocado or tobiko. We ordered the Duke featuring salmon, tuna, and shrimp with edamame and jalapeno. Extras like dried seaweed, cashews, tempura flakes, and crispy onion can be added without charge. There are also plenty of sauce choices, but I was very satisfied with the ponzu, gochujang, and OG sauce in the Duke. The portions are quite ample-- probably enough for two meals, unless you have the appetite of a hungry bear like I do! There are a couple of sides available like seaweed salad and mochi ice creams for dessert. The seaweed salad is priced lower than those at Whole Foods, Jewel, or Mariano's for a larger, tastier portion. The bowls are definitely bigger than the supermarkets and a couple of dollars more. However, with my first order from Chownow, Poke Bros online ordering system, I saved $5! Score! I ordered online and picked up from the simple store staffed by three friendly, masked employees. It was available within 25 minutes. Now that we don't have to rely on those premade poke bowls from Mariano's or Jewel, I'm in a kind of poke nirvana. Poke bowls are all the rage now, and a new place specializing in poke bowls has opened in Gurnee. For the uninitiated, a poke bowl is essentially deconstructed sushi....a bowl with raw fish, rice, veggies, miscellaneous toppings and sauce. If you don't like sushi but like fish, you still owe it to yourself to try one. These usually don't include nori. So if you're averse to the nori smell/taste, but like fish, this may be your answer. There is something about the combination of textures and flavors that make poke bowls amazing. There is a certain intangible quality about them. I am spoiled. There is an excellent poke bowl place by my work (Poke Burrito in Deer Park, if you are ever over there), so I have to compare it Poke Bros. I must say, that Poke Bros is just as good, if not better, than Poke Burrito. When it comes to poke bowls (or any sushi, I guess), my number one concern is the quality of the fish. I have eaten here multiple times, and haven't had any bad experience with the fish. I generally get the plain tuna, and it is perfect every time...slightly firm and perfect pink color, with a light, delicate flavor. There is also salmon available, I believe some sort of vegan option and there is even cooked chicken. They have pre-selected bowls that you can get or you can create your own. All of the ingredients I've had so far have been very fresh and excellent. They have takeout, online ordering, and third party delivery services, and every one of them has been extremely efficient. When I go to pick up, they usually have a quite a few orders waiting to go, and one of the nice things about poke is that it doesn't really take too long to make. The price is also about on par with poke burrito. Some of the addons come with an additional cost (avocado, masago, etc.), but this is not unexpected for the more expensive ingredients. I usually end up spending $13-15 (which includes the tip), which is about the same as Poke Burrito. Sounds like a lot, but these bowls are quite large, and they contain a good amount of sushi grade fish and other fresh ingredients. Overall, not many places like this around. I believe Poke Burrito is the next closest poke place, so no need for Gurnee residents to relegate themselves to subpar Mariano's poke bowls (it's not even close....if you have tried those and didn't like them, you need to try a real poke bowl.) read more

This place is amazing!! I love that it's a healthier choice which is hard to find in this area sadly! It's a quick in and out stop which is so helpful for my busy schedule. The employee that was there was SO PROFESSIONAL! Which was refreshing, she greeted me while I walked in which is sad that I love that. I feel being kindly greeted is now rare or the employees make it seem like it's forced. ( meaning their manager makes them do it but they rather "not even.") NOT THE CASE WITH HER. :D She also made sure to get my order right, asking if everything that came in "the duke was ok." I felt bad because I was out of it and kept asking her to repeat herself. I got there and it's a very clean space with sparse decoration and masked employees making the bowls right up front [behind glass]. I was so excited a poke bowl place opened. Good finally had a chance to swing by to try it. Huge disappointment for me. Their "sushi rice" was rice they squirted sushi vinegar on the rice. Presentation for my bowl was terrible, I ordered extra scoop to have two kinds of tuna, instead it scooping it side by side the server just dumped it on top of each other. First off, I'm giving them a 4.5, not a 4. The food is pretty darn good! It must be, I've been there 5 times already! And it's probably going to be my weekly day off splurge meal going forward. It's a great change up from all the other casual fast food places in the area. My first time, I wanted the Da Kine bowl, but I think the person working misunderstood and made me the High Tide. No big deal, it was super tasty! Could have been a language barrier thing, or the stupid masks. Next 4 times, I've made up my own bowl, simply because I don't care for some of the items in the other bowls. But...you can have them leave out items. The protein choices are good, with the spicy tuna and salmon having just the right amount of kick, without being overwhelming. Plenty of add-ins and toppings, as well as tasty sauces. Not sure what the OG sauce is, but I usually add it to my bowl and I haven't disliked it yet. So now for reason for the 4.5, instead of the 5. Once, they left out my avocado, which is a little extra if you build your own bowl. So that was a little disappointing. Oh, and if you like avocados, I highly encourage you to add it to your bowl! The slices of ginger are huge! Definitely need to be careful if you add that in. Definitely something they should work on making smaller, especially because they give you a bunch of it. Which brings up another thing I noticed, the pineapple chunk sizes. The first 4 times I went, the chunks were just that...chunky! The last time, it looks like they switched it up, and used more of a diced pineapple. Not a big deal, but just something I noticed. And lastly, with all the stuff you can add to your bowl, it seems like the plain tuna and salmon gets a little lost in the mix. So, I would recommend the marinated tuna, or the spicy versions of the tuna and salmon. The chicken and shrimp were both cooked, and were good as well. Be careful of the different sauces, as a couple of them are stronger in flavor, and will definitely drown out the others. But if you can find a good mix, then together they are quite delicious. Overall, I'm glad this place moved in! Don't be scared off of the prices, it's worth it! The portions are huge and it takes an effort to finish a bowl at one sitting, especially for a big guy like myself. I hope they stick around for awhile, and are not victims of this virus crap, because I plan on spending a lot of money there. read more

Tried the Duke! Awesome. I have always been to poke restaurants that were a build your own (and I love that) but it was great to find a place that also have a predetermined menu. However I was disappointed when I asked for a salad base, I received the salad mix has iceberg. I would love to see a more substantial/nutrient-based salad base.
