My husband and his dad went here for lunch recently and they both won't stop raving about it. They split the BBQ Pulled Pork Pierogis, The Boss and Beef Au Vino, with this last one being their favorite. They were impressed with the flavor and large portions, as well as the helpful staff and decent prices. This is a local deli/bakery with tons of sandwiches, salads and baked goods, along with frozen pierogis, ice cream and other takeaway items in a little market. Unfortunately this isn't really a place I can find a pescatarian, gluten free meal, so unlikely I'll be able to try it myself. Hope you can! It sounds awesome. read more

Stopped in for pączki on Fat Tuesday and it was my first time here! The smell when you walk in is definitely noticeable--very much that fresh, oily fried dough scent--but the display cases looked great and everything was nicely presented. There's seating inside, and I appreciated that the tables weren't packed too closely together. It felt comfortable and not overcrowded. They had about 7-8 varieties of pączki to choose from. I grabbed a dozen rose (a classic go-to for me) and also tried the limoncello and the caramel bacon. The limoncello was really good--the custard lemon filling inside was flavorful and smooth. The rose was delicious, just how it should be. The caramel bacon was something new for me; it had that savory-sweet combo that's definitely a specific taste. Not for everyone, but interesting to try! I heard about this place from another Yelper so I decided to stop in since I was in the area. They advertise as a bakery but in my opinion they are a bakery,deli,small grocery store and a sandwich shop. They didn't have a lot of bakery goods when I visited but they did have a nice selection of pre made Polish foods as well as homemade pierogis. I did buy a few items as well as Oplatki..a traditional Polish wafer used for the Christmas Eve blessing before everyone eats. Would like to go back and try one of their hot or cold sandwiches when I'm in the area again. read more

This shop opened three years ago as a bakery but is now apparently transitioning to a sandwich and pierogi eatery which I found out at check out. There is a story posted somewhere at the entrance but I never saw it. I walked around the store for quite some time without anyone acknowledging my presence or offering to help. In fact when eye contact was made each employee looked away. I grew up in Logan Square so I am used to the Poles aloofness but this was rude. The store is bright and has much potential under the right ownership and guidance. Apparently there is a QR menu you can scan but I wasn't told that until I was checking out. This is a very cute and cozy Polish cafe for breakfast or lunch. Also a great deli for carry outs too. Very nice owners who told us about the history of the deli. We ate in and ordered beef goulash and chicken with vegitables. My side were the marinated beets. All dishes were very good comfort food. The prices are very reasonable. We will return. read more

The reviews I read gave me the impression that this was a Polish deli along with the bakery. Went to get some traditional Polish meats and bread and was greatly disappointed. Very small selection of deli meats and for a Polish bakery they didn't even have Polish rye bread. The only thing we bought was their stuffed cabbage which was mostly rice with very little meat. I'm eating here for the first time ever (Thursday 4/2)! I placed a take out dinner order through Door Dash because their main restaurant ordering website was so slow and user-unfriendly! I then decided to eat my order inside the restaurant, since I loved how spacious, clean, colorful and welcoming the dining area looked! Plus they were playing great tunes overhead like The Grateful Dead, Jack Johnson, and Electric Light Orchestra! Been craving pepper and egg sandwiches and saw that this place allows you to customize them and order them ANY DAY (compared to most places which only allow you to order them only on Fridays and only during Lent! Such ridiculously lame, stupid rules)! Anyway, I ordered 2 Pepper & Egg Sandwiches and for each of them, I added Polish Sausage, bacon, avocado and spicy giardinera! Hot damn--they were DELICIOUS! I also ordered the Big Chili & Cheese Kielbasa Sausage Sandwich and Barley Soup, plus 2 Polish fruit juice drinks! Those were all really hearty, flavorful and awesomely delicious too! The employees here are also friendly and efficient too-- my order was ready on time and accurate! The owner even came over and gave me great future online ordering tip: place your order through the Clover App; it's 30% cheaper than DoorDash!! Who knew?!?! Anyway, I'm definitely coming back and telling all my Polish neighbors to come here (I swear, half of Poland lives in my condo complex which is about 10 minutes from here)! Charming, spacious, Polish bistro with a huge menu containing traditional Polish meals including soups, and sandwiches. While the bakery items lessened the food items have increased to include Ukranian borshdt, beet soups, other soups, and a growing breakfast menu (strawberry creme crepes are yummy). The bakery items contain some staple apple crumb, blueberry, other creme layered cakes along with new items that come and go...cupcakes, various cookies and totes. The potato cheese perogi with carmalized onions cooked in beef tallow and the Spring salad are my favorites.​ I brought a family of 5-adults on Christmas eve when we enjoyed all of my favorites including a specialty rosemary and thyme duck with a sweet bourbon sauce. Couldn't decide if we liked the Boss Chicken or Beef au Vino sandwich better. Both were outstanding! And those French fries were the best I've ever had, I suspect the beef tallow had something to do with their flavor. Oh and the cheesecake....ummmm! We stopped in last Monday, we were looking for potato pancakes, they were sold out. The owner said I can make a batch if you can wait. So we ordered 15, he was so nice, he offered us a cup of coffee, and complementary cheese periogys. He served them with a dill dip that was awesome. Great customer service. This is our new go to for polish food, Polish sausage and cabbage rolls were very good as well, and my wife loves the pancakes. read more

Not sure if this is an authentic Polish bakery. I am sure that this is one of the best bread bakeries in the Chicago area. Their variety is amazingly vast. Try a seeded country style bread. Pro tip - never get artisan breads sliced. O(f the subject, try the Hungarian potato pancake, too. Unique and wonderful. The women behind the counter barely speak English and that adds to the charm of the place. read more

This is a nice new Polish bakery that opened just 3 weeks ago.  It's in a small and very ethnically diverse strip mall, located with Shan's Grill (Indian) and Chen's (Chinese).  The bakery storefront looks smallish, but inside it's roomier than it looks and there's lots of good stuff here.  Almost everyone shopping while we were there spoke Polish, and that's almost always a good sign.  We picked up some kielbasa ($4.99/lb and one recommended by both the attendant and a friendly patron - Bez Konserwantow sausage that is preservative free apparently) and a loaf of bread. Their flagship store is on N. Harlem in Chicago but we've never been there nor heard of it.  We will surely revisit here again.  For one, I've always personally liked tasting and eating various ethnic sausages.  Check the attached photos for some of the good stuff they have here. read more

A few weeks ago there was an article in the Daily Herald about the opening of Kolatek Bakery. Since my family owned a polish delicatessen, I am generally overly critical of polish delicatessens. Even though this is named a bakery, it has a variety of meats, sausages, spices , candies and other polish delicacies. I actually only purchased kielbasa and some polish candies. Located on Rand Rd. it is easy to pass up. Cute place - huge selection. I don't have any experience with Polish bakeries but I got a blueberry cake and a candy bar (chocolate wafer). I thought the cake kind of had a muffin texture. Not overly sweet. Don't know if I would try that again but would definitely get some of the cookies next time! read more

Good variety; fresh bakery and deli items. Parking is almost always easy. One of the few authentic and very good Polish delis left in the northwest suburbs -- get there. It is March with Lenten Fridays but this place has some good deals every Tuesday. read more

Great Polish deli -- the best, fresh, made every day bread ever - so many different varieties. There is no other place that actually bakes the large variety of bread in their own kitchen on site. Perogi and prepared foods very good - great variety. The different polish sausage very good and great prices on deli meat and cheeses. I know everything here is fresh and good. This place was a surprise. It's not well "signed", so it's hard to tell from outside what you find inside. This a bright, well designed, white tiled, modern, little European gem on Rand Road. It has its own parking lot, on west side of Rand. Once inside you'll find all kinds of German/ Polish sausages, meats, baked goods, pastry, breads, and grocery products. There are fresh meats, many ( many) kinds of dry beans and flours ( think " Whole Foods-like). There is also a full deli, ready for salads, sandwiches or deli plates to order for parties. I was really surprised--- had expected to find a an old world/ not enticing market. This place is worth visiting, and their cakes, eclairs, tiramisu, rice puddings, etc, etc-- all worth trying. No one paid me to write this, and I'm not connected with this place, just thought they deserved a plug. read more
