This shop opened three years ago as a bakery but is now apparently transitioning to a sandwich and pierogi eatery which I found out at check out. There is a story posted somewhere at the entrance but I never saw it. I walked around the store for quite some time without anyone acknowledging my presence or offering to help. In fact when eye contact was made each employee looked away. I grew up in Logan Square so I am used to the Poles aloofness but this was rude. The store is bright and has much potential under the right ownership and guidance. Apparently there is a QR menu you can scan but I wasn't told that until I was checking out. I found the vanilla sugar that I needed as well as the opłatki and purchased some pierogi to try. Wesołych Świąt! Merry Christmas! Good luck in the new year.

This is a very cute and cozy Polish cafe for breakfast or lunch. Also a great deli for carry outs too. Very nice owners who told us about the history of the deli. We ate in and ordered beef goulash and chicken with vegitables. My side were the marinated beets. All dishes were very good comfort food. The prices are very reasonable. We will return.

Pepper & Egg Sandwich (I added sausage, bacon, avocados, and spicy giardinera to my 2 sandwiches)!! So awesome!!!

I'm eating here for the first time ever (Thursday 4/2)! I placed a take out dinner order through Door Dash because their main restaurant ordering website was so slow and user-unfriendly! I then decided to eat my order inside the restaurant, since I loved how spacious, clean, colorful and welcoming the dining area looked! Plus they were playing great tunes overhead like The Grateful Dead, Jack Johnson, and Electric Light Orchestra! Been craving pepper and egg sandwiches and saw that this place allows you to customize them and order them ANY DAY (compared to most places which only allow you to order them only on Fridays and only during Lent! Such ridiculously lame, stupid rules)! Anyway, I ordered 2 Pepper & Egg Sandwiches and for each of them, I added Polish Sausage, bacon, avocado and spicy giardinera! Hot damn--they were DELICIOUS! I also ordered the Big Chili & Cheese Kielbasa Sausage Sandwich and Barley Soup, plus 2 Polish fruit juice drinks! Those were all really hearty, flavorful and awesomely delicious too! The employees here are also friendly and efficient too-- my order was ready on time and accurate! The owner even came over and gave me great future online ordering tip: place your order through the Clover App; it's 30% cheaper than DoorDash!! Who knew?!?! Anyway, I'm definitely coming back and telling all my Polish neighbors to come here (I swear, half of Poland lives in my condo complex which is about 10 minutes from here)! This place is in a strip plaza in Palatine, on Rand Road/Route 12, across from a Subaru dealership and just down the road from Original Taco and the Rand Road Animal Hospital!

This is a nice new Polish bakery that opened just 3 weeks ago.  It's in a small and very ethnically diverse strip mall, located with Shan's Grill (Indian) and Chen's (Chinese).  The bakery storefront looks smallish, but inside it's roomier than it looks and there's lots of good stuff here.  Almost everyone shopping while we were there spoke Polish, and that's almost always a good sign.  We picked up some kielbasa ($4.99/lb and one recommended by both the attendant and a friendly patron - Bez Konserwantow sausage that is preservative free apparently) and a loaf of bread. Their flagship store is on N. Harlem in Chicago but we've never been there nor heard of it.  We will surely revisit here again.  For one, I've always personally liked tasting and eating various ethnic sausages.  Check the attached photos for some of the good stuff they have here.

They have chocolates, confections, and bakery items as far as the eye can see. I got my free donut and coffee but also picked up some huge muffins to have the next morning. I highly recommend Morkes Chocolates!

My wife and I had always wanted to visit them ever since then and we finally did after about 10 months. The place was small and charming with lots of neeat chocolate creations, as one would expect. We sampled a couple different chocolate pieces and as far as I can tell, they were good. I say that only because I'm not a huge chocolate person, and I don't have a huge gauge on what's good vs great. Since our main purpose of the visit was for donuts, we went ahead and orderes half dozen "premium" donuts. Turns out, the box that was gifted to us was a custom mix of their premium selections, which are fancier donut creations that require a bit more finesse and efforts for them to create. Apparently, you need to order ahead if you want to have a good mix of a dozen, which we didn't know. So we ended up picking from the available ones. They were still a good variety. I don't actively seek out donuts, but if I craved one, I'd definitely seek out Morkes.

However, the past few times I've ordered from there, the products have been somewhat underwhelming. Got two kolaczki's and both were very dry. Also got a slice of German chocolate cake and it was dry, too sweet, and tasted old. The doughnuts are generally very good as well as the coffee cakes. But the pastries do not taste as good as they look behind the counter. I admit, I did arrive about 20 minutes before closing, but that should not affect the taste that much.

Donuts, apple fritters, and eclairs were very tasty. The custards were yummy. Cons: Place was dead, not one customer to be found on a Saturday morning at 7:30am. Stop going to the chain coffee joints and try a small place that needs us. I preordered a little leas than $100 worth of cakes, pies, and pastries so I grabbed some of the cookies to make it $100. The butter cookies are $33 a lb. Ouch! As soon as you take a bite they fall apart and crumble everywhere. The kids didn't like the taste and didn't eat any of them, a waste of $12. No prices anywhere other than the boxed goods or coffee signs. 4% fee for using a credit card which I get, but have it posted better. Couple small signs I caught over by the fresh stuff saying price tags reflect cash price, but yet didn't see prices anywhere other than on shelves by boxed stuff. Have prices posted. French silk pie was very thick and not very chocolaty. No one really cared for it, def would not get again. I looked back at receipt after I left and see a random charge for "open retail" for $3.12, no clue what that is. So was over charged for something I didn't get.

I just wanted you to know how much he is appreciated!

I have been going to Deerfields Bakery for decades; I just realized that it is not "Deerfield" or…read more"Deerfield's", but "Deerfields". Before we fell in love with the mousse cakes of another bakery that's just minutes from home, we used to order most of our birthday cakes from Deerfields, and picked up at the location in Deerfield. In addition to cakes, they specialize in a full line of baked goods, including pastries, cookies, cupcakes, pies, danishes, donuts, muffins, bagels, and more. Recently, I needed to order a small 4" cake for the first time ever, since all of us didn't want a large cake, even a 6" cake would be too much, because I am usually the one to finish all the cake leftovers. Also, there were only about 3 days for the bakery to make the cake, our other bakery needs 7 days, and probably would not make a 4" cake. I knew that Deerfields could do it in 48 hours. I was pleased that I could order on their website, although their choices for 4" cakes were very limited. I picked a velvet cake with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting ($30.95). However, it has 4 layers and serves 6-8, we would still have leftovers. This time, I chose to pick up at the Deerfields in Buffalo Grove, where I had visited a couple of times, and I like this location much better than the one in Deerfield. It is like a storybook bakery to me! The bakery is picture perfect inside and out, visually appealing with lots of vibrant colors and beautiful displays. When I visited, the spacious bakery was festively decorated, which was quite charming. There's also a café inside, with some tables on the first floor, and the entire cozy second floor dedicated to café dining. The café serves breakfast and lunch Wednesday through Sunday. Like many other bakeries, Deerfields is closed on Mondays. On this weekday when I came around noon, the bakery was bustling. I would give this experience 5 stars for both the cake we ordered and the excellent service we received, especially from Greg, who greeted me as soon as I walked in. The customer service team had emailed me suggestions for decorating the small cake, and I replied with my specific requirements. However, it seemed that my reply had not been read. I needed the center of the top filled with more roses so the design would not look like a wreath. In the future, I will follow up with a phone call to confirm the details. One staff member from the bake room (Brianca?) came out and explained that it could be done, but I would need to wait an hour because all the bakers had just gone on break. I agreed and said I would return to pick it up. Just as I was about to leave, Greg came out from the bake room with the good news that a baker was available to do it right away. In the end, I only spent about 10 to 15 minutes waiting, which I used to take photos around the shop. The cake turned out beautiful and delicious, moist and velvety. I myself didn't care that much for the thick buttercream frosting, but the cream cheese filling was quite good. Since we had the cake after a big dinner, we all opted for small pieces. However, all of us didn't mind eating leftover cakes the next day. When we crave for a more traditional cake in the future, we will definitely return to Deerfields again!
