Cafe de Oro is large and comfy, with couches and tables in a spacious airy room. They serve La Colombe coffee. There is a refrigerated case with sandwiches, bagels and juices and a Limited bakery case -- no croissants today. There are also several cases of Jeni's ice cream. I picked a thick slice of banana walnut bread and a latte. My cup had latte art on top -- the coffee was rich and full- bodied. The bread was ok, a generous slice but a little dry. This is a nice place to have some coffee with friends although the menu is limited. read more

Cafe De Oro is a larger coffee shop with a lot of natural lighting. They offer coffee, pastries and some food options (ie. breakfast items, lunch items). The barista working may have been new, she was losing tickets which had customers receiving their drinks/food in a slow manner. There were a few customers that didn't receive their items that they had to approach her that people that ordered after them were receiving their items well before them. I tried an iced jasmine green tea for my drink. It was refreshing, light, flavor was full force and I enjoyed this drink. For food I tried a breakfast sandwich and had asked to not have any meat, however, there was a sausage patty in it that I removed. Overall my experience was just OK. I'm not sure I'll be back again but I'm glad I checked em out! read more

I have now visited this place a few times. I was here when they first opened and they needed to work out the kinks. I visited again when their pastries seemed to only come out of the refrigerated shelves and now they have a case with pastries. The two women working were nice when I arrived both greeting me separately when I walked in. One worked solely on drive thru orders and didn't help out the main counter if there was no one in the drive thru. The other working the main counter took her time making my drink of choice: hot mocha with oatmilk and an extra pump of chocolate (not a coffee drinker here). She filled my mug to the brim with artistic yumminess. It's a fairly open concept inside with two Jeni's ice cream coolers along one wall and a refrigerated cooler with juice cold brew canned coffees, bagels, fruit and other items. There's plenty of seating and plenty of space so you aren't on top of others. They have bistro tables, high chairs with a counter along two windows, low tables for 2/4/6 people for privacy to collaboration, and they have comfortable chairs and couches with coffee tables. It's a great place to start your day, conduct business, meet up with family and friends or to just kick back with a nice cup of Joe and a decent nosh. read more

First time here for a business meeting where my associate recommended Cafe De Oro. The service was lovely. Ordered a breakfast sandwich and they were able to switch out the English muffin for sourdough bread. Although the sandwich, unbeknown to me, had American cheese in it but the sandwich tasted good. I forgot to verify what cheese it was because I usually ask for something other than American because it's not my favorite. Service was extremely slow on a Saturday afternoon with hardly any customers. The young barista was very slow with orders. They even lost my order. Customers who ordered after me got their drinks and food. When I asked, they were not sure what to do. ( Make my drink!!! lol I've been waiting for 20mins!) Nice location and very clean store with nice decor and well lighted. Was able to try a Black and Tan drink and a Chocolate Croissant. Black and Tan Pure black blended with Draft Lattee. Tried their newest for the season- hot pumpkin spice latte with oat milk. This was so good, it's unsweetened and very creamy. Didn't taste like latte, but more like mocha, which is exactly what I prefer. The roasted coffee taste is deep and not bitter. The pumpkin spice flavor is on the lighter side, which is still acceptable. I would definitely come back. Also been eyeballing their matcha latte especially if it might have a similar effect. read more

Came to have a work meeting. It was pretty chill on a Thursday afternoon. Lots of room to chill and have a coffee and they have the option to have coffee in a real cup if staying in! This cafe is located right next to the gas station. It's a family friendly cafe. When we walked in we were warmly greeted by the barista. Who took our order, and made our drinks. They have seats if you wanted to get some work done. The ham and cheese spiral was delicious! I got the cold brew and it was a bit watered down, but still tasted great. My favorite part is that they offer all of the Jeni's Ice Cream flavors. They had all of the newest flavors too. Service was friendly and warm as well. We started with a: chocolate croissant - crispy, flakey on the outside, warm, soft and gooey chocolate inside. Orange Cranberry scone - first scone I had that was not dry in the slightest. Moist and delicious. Banana chocolate chip bread - dense, moist and delicious Hamd and cheese swirl - crunchy exterior, soft inside, and the salt from the cheese and ham compliment the pastry perfectly. 20 oz latte, cold, with almond milk and sugar free caramel - very very good coffee and happy to see sugar free options 20 oz mocha, cold, while milk and sugar-free hazelnut - perfection!! Me and my daughter came in on Memorial Day to study for her finals since the library was closed. It had easy ambiance with good natural lighting, high ceiling openness. Nothing fancy but friendly service and good coffees makes up for it. As long as you don't expect a gourmet dishes, this is a nice local cafe to enjoy nice latte or the famous Jeni's ice cream to sit and work on your lab top or meet up a friend for a chat. Nice looking place from the outside but be careful as you walk into the store, two major trip hazards. First, the trim that transitions to the wooden floor, and then the wood floor by the door that's warped and has buckled. By the looks of the floor, the tables, and other furnishings, it's evident that owners is not keeping up with maintenance. Ordered drip coffee and it was fine. For breakfast I ordered an orange scone that did not have the texture of a scone, too dense and not flaky and chewy as it should be. I had to remind the server to get the scone. As far as taste, I think it was stale. I took a few bites and then threw it out. The place was basically empty, a car or two pulled in for take out, that's about it for a prime time morning. The store is spacious and if it were better updated, and had better service and breakfast options, I'd consider going back. Always wonder how places like this survive. Cafe De Oro is a little gem tucked in the corporate hinterlands in the north suburbs of Chicago. Sandwiched between a car repair shop and a gas station, the location seems pretty nondescript from the outside. However, appearances are deceiving as they say, and Cafe De Oro is a really, excellent coffee shop. The interior is bright and spacious with vaulted ceilings and loads of comfortable seating options. They have a pretty comprehensive menu of coffee and tea drinks along with sandwiches and fresh pastries. There's also a cooler with freshly made on-the-go items as well as a selection of premium Jeni's Ice Cream. I like stopping in for a chai tea and a breakfast sandwich (made to order). Yosh, one of the owners, always provides fast and friendly service. This place is even more special as there's no competition in the immediate area; you have to drive 1-2 miles to find the nearest Starbuck's or other restaurants in Deerfield or Wheeling. Very sad place when I walked in around brunch time. I wanted to try a bunch of things but when I walked in and saw how depressing the interior looked I bought just two things instead of walking right out. I was literally the only person inside and it took forever for them to heat up two sad looking ham pastries, they just kept taking drive through orders. Then I was given my heated pastries in styrofoam... gross!!! If you want to pay for inattentive service and food heated in styrofoam with a side of cancer this is the place for you. I tried to support a local spot instead of a big chain but they have a lot of serious work to do to make themselves feel inviting and compete. read more

I was looking for a place to pass time between work and a dinner outing with friends in the area. The general area is mainly filled with a ton of Starbucks and Dunkin Donut locations. I was excited to come across this place on the map. It was also a big plus that they were open until 6pm on a Monday. I arrived around 4:15pm and there was only a couple of other tables of people sitting down inside. There seemed to be more people coming through the drive thru than coming inside. Like mentioned in other reviews, the place seemed to be short staffed. It appeared to only be one person handling the drive thru and preparing coffee. You may not want to come if you are short on time. This cafe serves La Colombe Coffee and Jeni's Ice Cream, which are both excellent brands. I had a draft black and tan and banana bread. Both were good. I sat outside on their patio with my laptop. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside. read more

Was in the area and had two hours to kill and work to do so stopped in. The server was friendly but the pastries were Saran wrapped - aka leftover from day before. Sure enough it was hard n stale n gross, I threw it out after one bite. The draft lattes are interesting but not fresh n foamy -- more like sugary thick syrupy, I quickly got sick of it so tossed out. The WiFi also wasn't working so even though I only had one hour left I ended up leaving for a Starbucks farther away that was out of my way but at least reliable. They have a drive thru so if I'm in area I may give the draft another try. read more

After my first visit to Cafe Oro, I'm in love. My mom and I stopped here March 6 to try their lattes, because I'd seen pretty pictures of theirs online. We were immediately greeted by the owners -- a lovely woman and her son, Yash. I asked if they do foam art on lattes (I'm on a mission to find pretty drinks), and they confirmed that they do. Yay! We both ordered mocha lattes and then found a table while we waited. When the first one was ready, Yash called me up and then invited me to watch and make a video as he made the second one. When he wasn't completely satisfied with the result, he said he'd drink that one and make a better one for me. That was totally unexpected, and so nice of him. He nailed his second attempt, and I brought both cups to our table. We both loved our lattes. As we took our time sipping them, Yash stopped by our table to invite me back to the counter to witness more latte art, and explained the process to me as he worked on another customer's order. Then, as we were later finishing our drinks, he stopped by again to offer us a second round, because he wanted to make more art for us. We said that wasn't necessary, and he insisted that he wanted to make them, and someone else would drink them. Since he insisted, we agreed. In the end, he ended up convincing us to take his final masterpiece, and even added caramel syrup so we could try a different flavor. This entire experience was wonderful. I'll be back for both the delicious and pretty drinks as well as the super friendly service. read more

While I haven't been blown away by any coffee I've had here, there are some characteristics of this restaurant that make it worth a visit for me. - Proximity to work (and convenient for those who work in business parks nearby) - Very easy to park - Prices are very reasonable, not much higher than fast food or diner prices for coffee -- very comparable to corporate cafeterias. - They have lots of choices of upscale snacks and ice cream - Service is quick and friendly - There is tons of space to lounge around and relax, or do work -- this has never been super busy any time I've visited. It's also not very noisy. - Decor is very pleasant. Lighting is good, and colors are gentle earth tones. Overall, this has become one of my favorite places to go for a casual coffee and hangout. Their drive through has been absurdly slow every time I've visited. Today they came to the window after 10 minutes (with only one car in front of me) and had forgotten my order. They shouldn't offer drive through if it takes them 10 minutes to fulfill a basic coffee order. I stand by my previous reviews, I like it here so much that I went twice this week. On my first visit I ordered a matcha latte with a little sugar free hazelnut syrup and with oat milk. For the first time I noticed: $.50 for the syrup and $1.00 for the oat milk. I know that both of these things require an upcharge it just felt like a lot.., maybe $.50 for the oat milk? On the other hand, who the hell am I to complain? The next day they comped me my tea... they said just cause they wanted me to try it! I think it was called butterfly pea and it was not only delicious but also the most beautiful shade of blue (see pic). read more

Cafe De Oro is a fairly good coffee shop that offers a large variety of cafe beverages in addition to an assortment of pastries. They also sell Jenni's ice cream - yes you read that right!! They have a small selection of ice cream you can get by the scoop and a larger selection of pints to take home. They serve La Colombe and have their draft lattes on tap. I love that they have a drive thru because these days, I hate going inside of places if I can avoid to do so. I can see myself coming back for another draft latte and to take a few pints of Jenni's to go! read more

Family owned, small business run by great people that is worth supporting! This cafe is very inviting, has free wi-fi couches, tables and hi tops, and their baked goods are so delicious (especially the croissants that are made with organic dough) and they also have a large freezer case of Jenni's ice cream pints and single servings to go! (So good) For those that are vegan or avoid dairy, they also have dairy free options). They also have a wide variety of savory items for breakfast or lunch), great coffee and teas of course, and outdoor seating when the weather allows. And if you haven't tried, I recommend the draft black and tan latte (there is an oat milk version too, which I actually prefer). But seriously, next time you are thinking about Starbucks, choose Cafe De Oro and support our local businesses .
