I had a craving for oatmeal raisin cookies. Rather than go across town to a sandwich place, I decided to purchase my favorite Matt;s from the convenience store I was in. I was definitely shocked to get home to see the cookies had gotten smaller. I was use to biting into the moist thick cookies I was use to. To say the least, I am very disappointed to learn you are now selling the cookies as half the thickness of what they use to be. Shame on you. I won't be buying anymore. I have tried contacting the company via phone and email because I put in an order on January 16, 2022 and still have not receive my order. Their phone mailbox is full, their email rejected my message, but they took my $30 + shipping. I am disappointed by the lack of communication and the fact that they have stolen my money. Matt's chocolate chip cookies use to be so good, moist, addictive and the closest store bought cookie to a homemade cookie. I would nuke them for a few seconds and they would taste just like a fresh baked homemade cooked. Now they are thinner, lighter in color, no moisture, just disgusting! I don't know what they did or why, but we need that fresh baked homemade quality and taste back ASAP or I will never purchase again!! read more

Just doing an updated review as promised. I, like others, noticed a big difference in Matt's cookies. Matt's saw my review and sent me a new pack. When I got my new pack I dug in right away to inspect. They were back to their delicious self - maybe a little bit smaller but everything else was the same. The taste and softness of the cookies. I just wanted to update this and say that at the time of the original review, I also called them to make them aware of my unhappiness (and I was polite), and tell them that the use of their "more natural" ingredients was not appreciated, and the change in their cookies was extremely noticeable and that I'd appreciate a call back to discuss this. Well, they never bothered to call back which says that they do NOT care that people don't like their cookies anymore. How very utterly SAD!!! Someone here mentioned that Archway hasn't changed their recipe? I was never much of a fan of Archway, but they weren't horrible. I guess I can give them a try again. DI-SGUST-ING. This NEW cookies are HORRIBLE. Crumbly, dry, shrunken with an after taste and are nothing that they used to be.

Matt's (Benton's at Aldi's) used to be my favorite packaged cookie. Having moved to the west coast, it's been a year or two since I've last had them. On a recent visit back home, I noticed the cookie aisle the local grocery stocked with a large variety of Matt's cookies in spiffy new packaging. Tempted by the variety, I went with my go to... chocolate chip cookie. I didn't make much of the reviews that mention the downsizing... I'm okay with a loss of 2 ounces, that's just the thing with inflation. What I'm not okay with is that they changed the formula! The cookies are much drier and crumblier than before. There's apple fiber in these cookies?! Wtf. The worst part is the packaging make it looks like business as usual. You're about to enjoy the best, most natural and honest soft cookie this side of the Rockies yadda yadda. Established in 1979.... Where as the packaging should display "NEW, now drier than before, and less inside." I feel sorry for the employees, if they're still employed, working at their bakery knowing they have succumbed to serious cost cutting and now make a worse cookie than before. So long to the great tradition that was started in 1979 proudly featured on the box. read more

the best oatmeal raisins cookies out there. A good deal too which is pretty cool considering they are such quality. I scored a pound for 2.50 at a midscale market in st louis... they go for up to 3.75 some places. good luck finding a pound of 5 star cookies for that price anywhere else! read more

I ordered 1500 cookies. 3 men helped me put the cookies into my car everyone there was so nice! The whole process from beginning to end was effortless and pleasant! Great company. These cookies are weird, The ingredients on the label look good but they are soft and crumbly, as if they are trying to imitate a moist, slightly under-cooked chocolate chip cookie, but without the chewy texture. My wife and I both felt sick after eating two of these apiece. We threw out the rest of the package. read more

I'm a native Chicagoan, and Matt's Cookies have been a staple in our family ever since I was five, over 30 years now. In fact, I remember our Chicago neighbors, and almost every family in the neighborhood loved Matt's Cookies. Within the past year, I became aware that an "investment firm" purchased the company, and that they have since expanded the product line. There are now many different flavors to choose from, but with that however, there has also been many unfortunate changes. Changes that I was hoping wouldn't happen, but given the fact that an "investment firm" has purchased the company, I intuitively knew that changes were inevitable. The primary changes that are immediately apparent are that the customer only receives 14 ounces instead of the originally packaged 16 ounces, and more importantly, the ingredients and/or recipe is not entirely the same (despite what their marketing department states). For instance, my personal favorite, the chocolate chip cookies, are now dried out and crumbly. I would even describe them as....STALE. This is consistent with every single package I have purchased over the last year. I waited an entire year to type this, providing the new ownership the benefit of the doubt, and they have failed. It is obvious that the business is now geared towards variety and price point, and to me, that translates to quantity over quality. In a word, mediocrity. What was once a tradition, has seemingly come to an abrupt end. read more
