A small and unassuming strip mall spot with a lovely calming atmosphere. The front was under construction on this day, but they were thankfully open all the same. The girl at the counter was busy helping customers which was a perfect chance to peruse the options. Lots of range here, which I love. Little one bite treats, cookies and pastries, full cakes and slices too! I spotted an un-marked tray of cookies that looked nice, turns out they were soft ginger cookies with jam filling. Raspberry or apricot, and baked in different shapes so you know what's what. Clever... and delicious. The edges were definitely a bit dry but once I hit the jam it was perfect! I also grabbed a triple chocolate mini dome for later. That was quite good as well. Not too sweet, but velvety and flavorful. What's the next holiday I can use as an excuse to get a full cake? I'd definitely come back for a snack too!

And let me tell you--the cake is SOAKED in milk, exactly how I like my tres leches! Some places are way too stingy with the milk, but Lupita's Bakery does not hold back. The cake is incredibly moist without becoming soggy. The icing is also super light and airy, almost like whipped cream, which I LOVE. And somehow, with all that sweetness, it's not overly sweet at all. Everything just works perfectly together.

The churros are delicious when they're freshly made - regular cinnamon sugar, filled with chocolate or vanilla. THIS is why I come here! Some of the pastries are hit or miss, maybe depends on when I'm stopping in? The churros however are always good and keeps me coming back. Plus I can't walk into a Mexican bakery and not leave with a la concha or other goodies.

They were very professional, the tasting went very well and they were attentive listening to ideas and coming up with a classic but unique cake together. We didn't want a cake topper, and we were only using real flowers for the wedding and not reception so we opted for flowers made from icing (which turned out really neat!). We wanted a cool ombre look because our colors were navy blue, light blue, white and silver. It turned out really neat without being so blue everyone's teeth would look like Smurfs lol. As employees were already putting away the bread, I politely asked if I could grab a piece before everything was picked up. I was told that the bread was being moved to the front and that someone would assist me there. While I waited, two other groups entered after me. They heard the same information and ended up being helped before I was, despite the employees knowing that I had been waiting first. I politely asked twice for assistance and was told to continue waiting while the other groups were served. What made the situation more frustrating was that the customers ahead of me were taking a long time deciding what they wanted. I had already put on a plastic glove and was prepared to select my own bread, but I was told that wasn't necessary because an employee would help me. While waiting, I witnessed one of the teenagers from a group point directly at the bread, and another teenager pushed their hand into it. This happened in front of the employees, and no one addressed the situation or reminded them not to touch the food. As someone who was trying to follow proper sanitation practices, I found this very concerning. Not only did this happened once but 2,3 times infront of them. Yet nothing was addressed. After being ignored, waiting while others were served ahead of me, and seeing unsanitary behavior go unaddressed, I decided to leave without making a purchase. I was disappointed by both the customer service and the lack of attention to food handling standards.

Aside from the parking being more chaotic than usual the most disappointing part was the fresh bakery section. They must hire an extremely experienced pastry chef for the level of cakes and cheesecakes they're trying to create. The filling in the tarts were "off" .. the cheesecake flavors and consistency wasn't tasty at all. The cake was blah and didn't taste like the flavor it was intended to taste like.
