It's up there with Bi-Rite in SF and McConnell's in Santa Barbara. But recently, I am incredibly disappointed because it seems like Graeter's has phenomenal ice cream, but absolutely TERRIBLE milkshakes. The milkshakes at this location are genuinely and confoundingly bad. The consistency of the "shake" is essentially just liquid. No mass or weight, no peaks or solidity. The ratio of milk to ice cream feels like 99:1. Devastating from a renown and respected brand. What a waste to use a fantastic product by basically diluting it down to flavored milk. I now know what NOT to order at one of my favorite chains and find it sad that I've found a gaping hole in the menu.

On those late days of spring -- when Chicago and the suburbs finally thaw out after months of…read morefrigid temperatures and biting precipitation -- residents emerge from their homes in search of one thing. Ice cream. After spending the day outside and then grilling out, we (obviously) needed ice cream to complete our Saturday. We popped into Scoops and Cookies because it's not far from our house and because Homer's Ice Cream is always an enticing offer. They have a *ton* of flavors. The screens above the counter showcase everything, while you can see some of the flavors in the case. We sampled a few before deciding on a scoop of cappuccino chip in a sugar cone (mine) and two scoops of butter pecan and cookie dough in a dish (his). We were helped by who we assumed to be the owner, who was friendly and also keeping things moving as groups (understandably) hemmed and hawed over their flavor choices. While we weren't here for cookies this time, they piqued our interest and we'll explore that more on our next visit. There are quite a few tables inside with lots of seating, and everything was clean. Did this just become our new favorite ice cream place? Maybe!

The croissants were delicious. I tried out mango and blueberry cream. They had just the right balance of flavor. Not sweet. Free street parking. They open later than some of the other boba places. Staff was nice, friendly, and attentive. Definitely not rude. I would disregard the 1-2 star reviews. They evidently don't know anything. We were promptly seated at a spacious booth that was perfect for 2. They basically inherited all the furniture from the previous Marcello's restaurant. The restaurant itself was spacious with tasteful décor, although it was a bit dark. Service was very friendly and attentive throughout the evening. I ordered a Mango Lassi ($4), which was creamy and sweet with a strong mango flavor, absolutely delicious. My husband had a beer ($5). For food, we first shared an order of Garlic Naan ($5). The 5 pieces were warm and delightful. Although they were not as fluffy and were thinner than other naan we've had, they had crispy, crunchy bases and were packed with garlicky flavor in every bite, seriously addictive! Just for the Mango Lassi and Garlic Naan, I would absolutely come back. We also ordered Butter Chicken ($19) and Goat Curry ($22) to share. Since their entrées do not include rice, we also got an order of Basmati Rice ($4). The Butter Chicken was creamy and buttery, although the sauce was a bit on the sweet side. The chicken pieces were all meat and not dry. The Goat Curry was spicy but flavorful, with tender meat attached to the bones, except for one chewy piece. The portions were good, and we even had some Butter Chicken left to take home. All in all, we had a good experience and would love to come back to try more dishes. I am rounding the experience from 4.5 to 5 stars.
