I was looking for a new place to try and stumbled here. I was talking to the one of the workers and they said they've been only open for a week or two. It was very quiet during the lunch hour, but I'm sure not many people know about it yet. I ordered the garlic naan, butter chicken, papdi chat, and masala soda to go. The garlic naan was huge and fresh. The butter chicken was delicious. I love dipping the bread into the sauce of the butter chicken. I've never had a masala soda before. It was alright. Not sure I'd get it again though. The papdi chat was good though. I hope this place gets more attention. The food is good and the service was friendly and quick.

I was thrilled to see an Indian restaurant open in Northbrook! My family and I love dining at Indian restaurants, so this was a welcome addition. I took my parents out to eat on a Friday evening, and we had no problem getting seated right away. The service was impeccable and all of the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. My favorites were the samosa, mango lassi, butter chicken, and cheesy naan. The naan and butter chicken were delicious. Some of the other dishes we ordered could have been hotter in temperature and the flavors could be refined. As others have mentioned, rice is not included, however, prices seemed reasonable for the portion size.

The food was amazing. Great service! Try the vegetable samosa, butter chicken, cheese garlic naan, Jeera rice. I ordered shrimp curry and another order of cheese garlic naan, to go. I'm so happy I found this Gem.

My daughter and I went here on a Sunday evening around 5:15 pm. I'll admit it was a little weird coming back to the old Marcello's restaurant where Moksha is now. Almost everything looked the same, except they switched out the lighted photos and pumped in Indian music over the speakers. We waited just under 5 minutes to be seated, so I hope they have plans to hire a host to greet and seat customers at the door. Once we were seated, the server brought us menus and water right away, but it took about 10 minutes for him to return to the table to take our orders. Fortunately, the food came out quickly, and the portions were ample. I thought the price was right, and the food was tasty. As a vegan, I tried the samosas, which had a crispy shell and were filled with lightly spiced potato and peas. I also ordered roti, which tasted great. For my main dish, I tried the chana masala. It tasted perfectly seasoned and was only mildly spicy. The basmati rice was light and fluffy. Oh, and the carafe of water they gave us was very helpful so we could refill our water when needed! I will definitely be back again to try other vegan dishes!

I enjoy spicy food, but my husband prefers a moderate level of spice. We were each able to sample sauces that met our needs, and both were very tasteful. More detailed food review to follow below. The decor is simple but the restaurant has nice murals and decor throughout (one small downside: the bathroom doors are frosted glass; while you cannot see into them, some outlines are clearly visible). Service is extremely accommodating and hospitable; we were in a hurry and the waitress sped up our order, which we are thankful for several members of the restaurant staff welcomed us and visited during our dinner to make sure we were enjoying the food and experience. Now on to the food! Amuse bouche: a tasty complementary treat composed of a thin, crispy outer shell filled with potato, chickpea, tamarind, cilantro and spice. Nice start to our meal! Samosas: a foundational Indian appetizer and this one was a hit. The mint chutney is mild and the other two are mildly and moderately spicy; extremely flavorful. The level of spice (not just heat) was perfect. Okra: very, very good. Mild heat and great spice. Crispy and accompanied by fresh tomato and herbs for interesting textures. We saved some to take with us to entice friends to join us next time. Risotto: creamy, flavorful, and comforting. The accompaniments are a special treat, particularly the pickled vegetables and crackers. The chili dal is also a nice touch. Chicken biryani: great flavor and comes baked with something like naan over the top. Great spice and you can adjust the level of heat to taste. My husband chose a moderate level of spice and was very satisfied with the attention to this request. My zero proof cocktail was a special treat, composed of cilantro and other, citrusy flavors. I strongly recommend this new Indian fusion restaurant, which caters to both American and Indian flavor profiles. We will be back, and we will bring friends!

Our party was seated practically right in front of the door, which was ok, as the restaurant is small. My drink, a berry spritz, they said was sold out? I ordered a zero proof spritz which was nice. Our server told us that all of the dishes were prepared mild and more spice could be added. We enjoyed the samosas, naan, cauliflower, dal and biryani. The only dish we did not enjoy was the wagyu, which they presented without a knife. We asked for a knife and it took several requests and about 15 minutes to get one. The Wagyu, once sliced, was gristly and fatty and not tender. We expected more. A nice surprise was they offered the birthday guest a free dessert. The tres leches crème brûlée was good, with a crackly crust. Overall, the food was delicious and a nice take on Indian cuisine. Service was cordial and could have been more prompt. However we did enjoy our experience and will come back.

Our order (lamb briyani, chicken tikka masala, plain naan) today was a real letdown, especially considering the price ($60 total), which made the experience all the more disappointing. The lamb briyani was soggy and lacked the usual flavor. The rice served with it didn't look like the basmati we've gotten before. Instead, it looked like some overcooked short-grain rice that appeared broken and tasteless. Normally, the rice would be a fragrant, flavorful complement to the dish, but today it was just plain and unseasoned. The lamb itself was underwhelming and lacked the rich, savory flavor. Chicken tikka masala was too sweet and lacked the usual depth of flavor. The chicken was dry and unappetizing. There was no balance of spice or seasoning, making the whole dish feel off and not satisfying. The only consistent item in the order was the naan, and sadly the only positive thing I can say. It's frustrating because this place has been a good option in the area in the past, but today's meal just didn't measure up. For the price point, we expected much more, and based on this experience, we won't be coming back.

There was also a section for fresh meat and some produce. I went straight to the hot food section and checked what dishes were available. There were many containers of various dishes and appetizer trays as well. New containers of hot dishes were constantly being put on the shelves and they all looked delicious. Since it was my first time here and I was not really familiar with any of the dishes yet, I picked the ones in the small containers only. The Chili Chicken was from the refrigerated food section and the items here were from the day before so the prices were marked down. I also got a small container Beef Fry and Vegetable Fried Rice. Both the chicken and beef dishes were just ok, there was not much spice or flavor on both, a tad oily, and I expected more heat on the chicken dish. The same goes for the fried rice, it was quite bland. I would like to other dishes next time, I'll probably do a research first so I'll be more familiar with what goes in each dish and what to expect, flavor wise. Overall, the service from the guy in the counter was nice although he was very pre-occupied so I couldn't really ask for any questions and suggestions. Since we hadn't been here, we decided to check it out. This restaurant is located off Dempster St. in a small plaza. They serve a variety of dosas and Indian street food dishes. They also offer Indian desserts, Indian beverages, Boba teas, and Yemeni Adani Tea. The pricing is reasonable. We ordered a Ghee Roasted Dosa, and extra spicy Mysore Masala Dosa, a Spring Dosa, Mumbai Pav Bhaji, and two Adani teas. The food was served promptly. The food is served in sturdy disposable food trays along with plastic ware and hot beverages are served in coffee shop like to-go, small size (paper) coffee cups. The tea was scalding hot as it was freshly prepared. I had to let it cool off. The plastic lid of the cup was tightly fitted and given how hot the cup was, it was hard to take the plastic lid off. The lid was hot along with the cup. They had the hot cup sleeves but they were too big for their small tea cups. The tea was nice. All the dosas were tasty. We liked them. They had decent flavor and texture. They were a bit thicker than the dosas from other south Indian restaurants we have eaten at. That wasn't a problem to us. The spice level for my dosa was good. The accompaniments with the dosas of sambar, coconut chutney, and tomato chutney, for dosa dipping purposes, were nice. We really liked the coconut chutney (w/ cashews) and tomato chutney (w/ peanuts). They were flavorful. The sambar had a nice flavor (from spices & veggies) but texture wise it could've been better. It needed to be a bit thicker. The Pav Bhaji (bread with mixed veggies in a gravy) had a decent taste but it needed to be thick with some body from the usual veggies in it. The Pav (Indian bread) for the Bhaji was really good. Our experience was nice. The service was decent. We were the first customers after they opened at 12:30 pm but a short time later, the restaurant got busy. If I am in the area again, I would go back. Overall, 3.5 stars.
