I was attracted by the magical 3.5 star average. For an Asian restaurant, this is almost always a sign of excellent and authentic cuisine. What happens is a place like this gets some low ratings from people who don't appreciate the authentic culture with the authentic food, social values concerning good service vary more than many realize. India is a vast multi ethnic nation, the food here is only vaguely like Anglicized IndoPak food one might be more familiar with. Maybe like how Quebecois cuisine differs from the food of Guadalahara. This place has good service from a South Asian perspective. The second enticing sign was that the place was filled with Desis and South Asian immigrants, the Chief of Staff was the only Gora in the place. That made us all comfortable enough to eat by hand, like we're supposed to. The food isn't just authentic to Southern India, it's also pretty tasty. If you've never had South Indian food, I suggest you come here and try either the dosa or idly and sambar. It's very easy to eat vegetarian in a South Indian restaurant, a little harder to be fully vegan but it's only a matter of avoiding the dairy and eggs. South Indian cuisine includes some herbs and spices unique to the region some of which might have health benefits. When I spent a couple of weeks in Tamil Nadu, my eczema disappeared. At any rate the food is low in cholesterol and high in fiber. The portion sizes are generous. Based on the prices, the Chief of Staff and I ordered a pongal, a Chettinad biryani, egg khottu, an egg bonda, and onion pakora. This turned out to be enough food to feed 6 people and still have leftovers. The appetizers, the pakora (which autocorrect would like to make panoramic) and the egg bonda were excellent. The biryani was also excellent, the khottu, mango lassi, chai, pongal, were all good. The most popular dishes here seem to be the chilli chicken, and the dosa dishes. It's clean, bright, with a few pleasant sidewalk tables. If you bring in your own tiffin and reusable tea cup you can use them, they also use compostable containers instead of polystyrene which made me up the score from 4 to 5 stars. Just remember, most of the entrees are enough food for three people each.

    Fooooooood

I do pest control here. Super clean restaurant, great service and excellent food quality! I just wish they were in the Chicago!

Onion Pakora , chilli bajji and tea is good. Onion rava dosa was ok and idli was soggy underneath. Must be because of reheating using steam.

I enjoy spicy food, but my husband prefers a moderate level of spice. We were each able to sample sauces that met our needs, and both were very tasteful. More detailed food review to follow below. The decor is simple but the restaurant has nice murals and decor throughout (one small downside: the bathroom doors are frosted glass; while you cannot see into them, some outlines are clearly visible). Service is extremely accommodating and hospitable; we were in a hurry and the waitress sped up our order, which we are thankful for several members of the restaurant staff welcomed us and visited during our dinner to make sure we were enjoying the food and experience. Now on to the food! Amuse bouche: a tasty complementary treat composed of a thin, crispy outer shell filled with potato, chickpea, tamarind, cilantro and spice. Nice start to our meal! Samosas: a foundational Indian appetizer and this one was a hit. The mint chutney is mild and the other two are mildly and moderately spicy; extremely flavorful. The level of spice (not just heat) was perfect. Okra: very, very good. Mild heat and great spice. Crispy and accompanied by fresh tomato and herbs for interesting textures. We saved some to take with us to entice friends to join us next time. Risotto: creamy, flavorful, and comforting. The accompaniments are a special treat, particularly the pickled vegetables and crackers. The chili dal is also a nice touch. Chicken biryani: great flavor and comes baked with something like naan over the top. Great spice and you can adjust the level of heat to taste. My husband chose a moderate level of spice and was very satisfied with the attention to this request. My zero proof cocktail was a special treat, composed of cilantro and other, citrusy flavors. I strongly recommend this new Indian fusion restaurant, which caters to both American and Indian flavor profiles. We will be back, and we will bring friends!

Our party was seated practically right in front of the door, which was ok, as the restaurant is small. My drink, a berry spritz, they said was sold out? I ordered a zero proof spritz which was nice. Our server told us that all of the dishes were prepared mild and more spice could be added. We enjoyed the samosas, naan, cauliflower, dal and biryani. The only dish we did not enjoy was the wagyu, which they presented without a knife. We asked for a knife and it took several requests and about 15 minutes to get one. The Wagyu, once sliced, was gristly and fatty and not tender. We expected more. A nice surprise was they offered the birthday guest a free dessert. The tres leches crème brûlée was good, with a crackly crust. Overall, the food was delicious and a nice take on Indian cuisine. Service was cordial and could have been more prompt. However we did enjoy our experience and will come back.

I had the Samosa for an appetizer and they were straight from the fryer delicious! The sauces were the perfect compliment. The filling was perfectly proportioned. I also had the Chicken Tikka Masala and it did not disappoint. There was a miscommunication about the level of spiciness. I like "need to wipe the snot off my runny nose spicy" and it was "this white lady doesn't know what she's asking for" spicy. But, nevertheless, it was delicious! Go get some! The butter naan was perfecto (but I haven't found an Indian restaurant yet that can mess that up). U: Ultimately I couldn't give 5 stars because the service was just not great. It could have just been a bad night, but it cost a star. M: Maybe skip this place if you're looking for fancy. The ambiance is simple and a little untidy. But, if you're just looking for great food, it's your spot!
