Hot N Sour Soup from the packet filled with cornstarch.
Shveta A.

Went yestetday after 11 months and must say the place has downgraded their food and specially customer service. Ordered Maggie 2/5 Momos-0/5 frozen. Trader Joe's did a good job but not Singh's kitchen. Hot and sour soup- 0/5 Disgusting packet made soup filled with cornstarch absolutely inedible and disgusting. Please see the picture yourself. Fish tikka- looked very tempting but the spice coating was raw. We did not say a single word until we paid for our food and gratuity. But last while getting up I did mention to our server and he acknowledged and called the manager. I was mad because the food after gratuity we paid almost 85$ and did not eat at all but the manager showed us the attitude when the server called him. We asked him that you should not be serving frozen foods in your restaurant. We recommended so many people after our first visit but not now and he said sure that's fine. If the owner Mr. Singh reads this message then please pay attention to your restaurant and staff and if he doesn't then this review shall serve the fellow yelpers. Neither going back nor recommending to anyone.

Tandoori Lamb Chops

Singhs Kitchen is located in the heart of Libertyville and I can't recommend it enough! If you ever find yourself in Libertyville, this is the best place you can stop for lunch or dinner. The flavors included in all the dishes were put together so well. Everything was beyond flavorful. My favorite part about this place was the uniqueness of the menu. I loved the modern Indian style and the handful of options available that you usually don't see on Indian restaurant menus. The paneer pizza and build your own pasta dish were seriously the best Indian fusion dishes I've ever had. The brussel sprout appetizer was to die for! I recommend trying some of their interesting menu items. I am already eager to go back and try other options. The servers were extremely knowledgeable and attentive during our visit! Make sure you try their martini, absolutely delicious!

I was lucky enough to have time to stop at Singh's in Libertyville. Decisions, decisions! I'd forego my favorite Goat Curry and chose the Meat me Plate ($24) instead. It did not disappoint. Tandoori chicken was tender and moist. And, while the steak was a little tough, the Makhani Sauce was thick and tasty and mixed well with the Basmati rice. I must say the roasted veggies paired well with pickled onions but I would've appreciated a slightly larger portion (I know, I know. It's just a side but it's really good.) The Curry Aioli added color but was a faint memory. A nice side of Garlic Naan, though. Most of the steak and rice went into a to-go because I had to finish my perfect Mango Lassi. I left full and satisfied with lunch for tomorrow. Go there and enjoy for yourself.

I gave myself a bit of time before writing this review to really think about my time at Singhs. I ended up landing on 2 stars as representative of my overall experience. I went to Singh's Kitchen when they first opened up awhile back and had a different style and feel to both their menu and food. They've since reverted their menu to have more classic Indian dishes while still maintaining some version of their fusion experience from before. The first time I went to Singh's, my wife and I thought our experience was okay but wasn't a standout in which we would come back any time soon. After their revamp, I wanted to give it another shot and thus we found a good excuse to go for my birthday meal. Service in general has always been solid at Singh's so no complaints there. The issue I had with my latest experience was three-fold. The first was that we received a dish that looked nothing like the dish that was described in the menu. In fact, I'm not even sure the dish we were served exists on the menu since we got some version of how the cook was experimenting with some dishes and there was some mix-up. While I appreciate the chef trying new things, it feels rather disingenuous to try it on a specific dish on the menu that we specifically wanted to order. For reference, we ordered the Tempura 65 Mahi Mahi, which was supposed to be protein marinated in Singh's signature spices and then deep fried with Japanese Tempura (an interesting fusion type dish). What we first got was not fried at all (see pictures below). To Singh's credit, they did make it right and gave us the right dish after we asked. But that's where I suppose my second issue was: it was definitely fried but it literally has nothing to do with Japanese tempura. Anyone who has ever had tempura knows "tempura-fried" is not your conventional fried. I had already tempered my expectations because I was a bit skeptical in reading the description that they could deliver on it but I really couldn't help being disappointed on how far from tempura it really was. My third issue is that the fried mahi mahi, the experimental mahi mahi dish, and the shrimp in the Tandoori Grill dish was just way too salty. Perhaps the underlying factor in the saltiness comes from "Singh's signature spices"? I'm really not sure because I imagine the rest of the Tandoori Grill meats were also made with the same spices but ended up being fine. The rest of what I described above though wasn't palatable and we ended up having a LOT of leftovers to bring back home, which is usually very unusual for me since I really like to pack it in at restaurants. I guess the cherries on top of all of this is that not only was everything quite pricey, I also ended up being sick from the food and spent a good amount of time in the bathroom after I got back. Initially, I wasn't sure if it was what I ate at Singh's but I confirmed it the next day when I ate some leftovers for lunch and immediately was back in the bathroom. Maybe it was just an off-night for them or maybe somehow my food happened to get contaminated in some way? I don't really know but it's safe to say I won't be back. It's a shame because their mango lassi is VERY good and one of the best I've had in the area. I will also note that my wife ordered a non-meat entree that she mostly enjoyed and did not get food poisoning. Her only complaint was that they used micro greens which is awesome, but that the micro greens were wilty and clearly not fresh, which in many ways defeats the purpose of using micro greens.

Downtown Libertyville PRO TIP: Eat lunch at 1 pm to avoid the lunch crowd. They sold me with garlic naan. I don't know why that's not a staple at every Indian restaurant. It should be. And I can say the garlic naan didn't disappoint. Singh's Kitchen is trendy and fits right in with the other spots on Milwaukee Ave. It's actually a lot bigger once you get inside and realize it spans two store fronts. The big windows also make for a perfect spot to eat, chat, and people watch. There's a couple of interesting options on the menu so rather than sticking with one of my typical picks, I chose the Garlicghee Surf and Turf. Points for the clever name because I love a good pun. The pork and veggies were delicious. The rice was a simple yellow/turmeric rice, def the right option for this dish. The surf part of this dish was shrimp and it just didn't work for me. The meal it self was very flavorful, but the shrimp didn't feel cohesive with the pork and it was a little overcooked. Still a good dish, but I'll probably do some more exploring on the menu next time. I also tried the vegetable samosa and would absolutely recommend them. Also worth noting, when I was walking out I saw a buffet set up so it looks like their brunch buffet (that I read about in much older reviews) may have returned!

Chicken Tikka Samosa Garlic Naan

The food was delicious and the ambience and service were spot on! Loved this experience and will definitely be back. The portion sizes are generous and their menu is extensive! Well worth a visit.

We LOVE Singh's! Every time I visit my parents we make a trip over for dinner. Everything we've ever gotten has been amazing - there are so many options for me (life-long vegetarian) and the rest of my family (meat lovers who were, up until recently, wary of trying Indian cuisine). This trip (pictured) we got veggie samosas, Veggie Biryani, meat me plate, and Mumbai Manchurian. I also got a Lychee Punch which was wonderful. My parents also got the Singh's golden lager and loved it. I can't recommend this place enough - it's adorable, yummy, and the staff is great!

If you're looking for a place to get quality Indian food with a great atmosphere and great hospitality. My first time eating at this restaurant and I LOVED it- experience was out of this world. Lucky enough to experience the Makhani wings, Goat curry and cilantro brussel sprouts. This is a true hidden gem!!!

Singh's Kitchen resides on the endlessly entertaining Milwaukee Avenue in the heart of downtown Libertyville. Dishing up some amazing Indian-American cuisine in a cozy, yet modern setting. A window seat next to Milwaukee Ave. while it drizzled hit different on a Saturday morning. Chicken Tikka Samosa - Chicken Tikka Samosa 2 Baked Pastries filled with Bombay Chicken, Cheese, Makhani Sauce, Pickled Onions. Served with Cilantro & Tamarind Chutney. These samosas were amazing! I would absolutely return just for multiple plates of these Mango French Toast Thick-Cut Banana Bread Battered And Grilled To A Golden Brown. Stuffed With Mango Cream Cheese. Finished With Sarab's Spiced Tamarind Drizzle.  If you like mangoes, you will enjoy this french toast Singh's Steak Hash Juicy Steak Shawarma With Grilled Veggies, Garlic Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Topped With A Sunny Side Egg. This dish was very filling. A great option for protein, carbs, and veggies all in one! Indian Sweets for dessert: Rose, Vanilla, Pistachio, and Apple flavored. Brunch is served Saturday & Sunday 11 am - 3 pm Singh in Punjabi means lion, and their flavors are nothing less than fierce. Tempura Shrimp 65
Char I.

I went here with a lot of expectations from all the reviews I read, some were true but mostly not. We ordered meat me plate, chicken biryani, tempura 65 shrimp and garlic naan. Meat me plate sauce was very good but the meat were not tender, the beef was so hard even w a knife. Biryani was average better than the other Indian restaurants around. Tempura was too salty and Naan is average as well. Overall I give it a GOOD rating. The service was okay but not great, like what i read he doesn't talk at all that much, we were not checked in between and has to find him towards the end of our meal. The place was clean and only us were dining. If I am going back probably not, I would like to try somewhere else. If I recommend maybe coz it is not so bad just not what I am expecting based on what I read.

Chicken and Paneer Makhani, Tattoo Girl rebound wine, and Meat Me Plate

We finally tried Singh's Kitchen a few days ago and are only sorry we didn't go sooner! The ambiance is outstanding. All of the high-tops and low-tops are what looks like marble and the bar has beautiful back-lighting. There's a lot of cool art including a massive mural near the bar. We lucked out by going in Wednesday for half-priced house bottle wine night. Unlike many places, the house wines are from Tattoo Girl vineyards out of Washington State. We really liked the red blend. Our meal was delicious. We started off with the potato samosas accompanied by a very fresh mint chutney. I couldn't decide between the chicken or paneer makhani, so the kitchen was kind enough to let me get half and half. My boyfriend chose the Meat Me Plate, which he loved. Try the Calico Corn!! We couldn't help but sample/inhale both of the $1 dessert specials. The menu is inventive and offers an option to build your own bowl. We'd like to come back and try that and brunch, too. To top off the night, Tom, the head chef, came out to chat with us and had a lot of interesting things to say about the menu and focus (Northern Indian cuisine). We will be back and are glad there is a yummy Indian restaurant within walking distance!

Indian fusion cafe with modern decor and inviting atmosphere. There was no one to greet us on a Saturday afternoon. We walked past the vestibule into the dining area - only a few customers and no staff in sight. After a freestyle tour we were finally noticed and seated. The menu was comprehensive and overwhelming. Our waiter was helpful so we chose Marsala chicken, samosas, steak flatbread, and cheese flatbread. The chicken was flavorful, flatbread delicious, and samosas delightful. Tasteful and rustic presentation made the experience even more enjoyable. The service was inattentive. After our meal, dessert options were limited and poorly described, with only chocolate cake clearly mentioned. Our request for an espresso was ignored in favor of tea with milk, and the conversation switched to the payment, bypassing the dessert discussion entirely. We would love to stop by for lunch. The desert remains elusive

The restaurant is clean, bright and inviting. One nice surprise, they have a full bar. Their menu is fairly large. And they were BUSY. They had a line from the back counter all the way through the restaurant of folks either picking up orders (from a prior phone order) or stopping in to order to go. This was nonstop for at least an hour. Saturday night definitely contributed. The food was pretty good. Solid portions, lots of flavor. Of course we ordered Garlic Naan (actually, basil garlic Naan) and it was a good portion and delicious. They only serve one chutney and one curry which I was disappointed by. I have experienced getting a tray of various curries etc. But they were "OK". Had some flavor, but honestly it wasn't flavor-full. My friend said that on prior visits it was better. We also ordered a Mango Lassi (no one had ever tried it so I ordered one so they could try it). It was really good and they loved it as well. We ordered Mango Chicken and Lamb Vindaloo. The chicken was so good and not too sweet. My wife loved it. My Lamb was ok. It was no where near "hot" or spicy which I am used to. It tasted very muted and more like an Indian tomato sauce rather than a true Vindaloo that I'm used to. Our friends meals were lamb and fish and were very good too. My Vindaloo was worth 2.5 to 3 stars but everyone else really liked theirs so I bumped it up to 4. The service was slow, but that was more likely to how busy they were. It wasn't unacceptable, just a bit slower than expected. All in all I would try it again. I would come back try the Chicken Vindaloo and tell them to kick the heat up. There are several dishes I would love to try and will try. But right now my recommendation is a "yes" for those wanting to try this delicious food, but a maybe for experienced Indian food folks that are looking for something more like home :)

Feather Glass Wine Bar & Eatery - Vernon Hills, IL…read more Overall Rating: Highly Recommended Feather Glass is a fantastic spot that nails the wine bar experience with a beautiful, modern aesthetic and top-tier service. While the food is incredibly tasty, a few minor tweaks to the composition and seasoning of certain dishes would make the experience truly flawless. The Highlights: Drinks, Ambience, & Service * The Flights: We thoroughly enjoyed both the wine and mimosa flights. They are well-curated, beautifully presented, and a great way to sample their extensive selection. * Atmosphere: The ambience is excellent and sophisticated, making it one of the most visually appealing spots in Vernon Hills. * Service: The staff provides excellent service--attentive and professional throughout the entire meal. Food Feedback & Suggestions * Mediterranean Flatbread: Very flavorful, but the olives can make it quite salty. Adding a balsamic glaze would provide a sweet contrast to balance out the saltiness. * Beet Salad: Features fresh, high-quality ingredients. This dish would benefit from a touch more salt and a bit more acid (like a bright vinegar) in the dressing to really highlight the earthy beets. * Paneer Palak Bites: A delicious fusion idea, but the execution was slightly misleading and difficult to eat. The bread lacked the expected toasted crispiness, and because the paneer is served in a thin slice, it often slides off, leaving the sauce on the plate. * Suggestion: Try chopping the paneer into small cubes, bruschetta-style, and mixing them directly with the sauce. Layering that mixture onto a properly toasted baguette would create a much more stable and crunchy bite while keeping the great texture of the cheese. Final Verdict Despite these small suggestions, this is a great restaurant that you should definitely check out. The flavors are delicious and the overall experience is wonderful.

There were only two other tables there when we arrived. Nice ambience and decor. Everything arrived lukewarm or cold which is so odd considering there weren't a lot of people there. We waited quite a bit too so were shocked when our food wasn't hot. Paneer Palak Bites: Flavorful and yummy. A lot smaller than I thought they would be and they give you 5. My husband and I split the last one but I'll never understand why appetizers would be served in odd numbers. Especially considering how small and thin the baguettes were. Chicken Sliders: Tasty! The naan "buns" were a little thick though and had a weird greasy taste. We ended up taking the top naan off and eating it like a taco. The potatoes it came with had a lot of flavor but were tiny mushy little cubes. Almost as if they were frozen. Chicken Kabobs: Rice was cold. Some of the chicken wasn't cooked. I had to shine a light to the plate because it tasted off and it was pink. The waitress saw me do this but didn't approach us or say anything. We're not ones to complain so we just ate what we could. Honestly though, we could have went down the street to Pita Inn and had WAY better quality and warm food. The chicken at Pita Inn is always so moist and tender. This was literally pink, chewy and hard to cut. It was just terrible. Ended up spending about $160 including tip and the bottle of wine we had. For that price, you'd expect much better quality of food. Really wanted to love this place so it's very disappointing. We ended up going out for pizza and beer afterwards to end the night on a good note.

We started with the chicken lollipops. The taste was decent, but apparently the chickens they use are roughly the size of sparrows. Next came the Bang Bang Shrimp. The chef might want to take a field trip to PF Chang's and try their Dynamite Shrimp just to see what the dish is supposed to accomplish. The momos were ordered as appetizers, which I assume means they're intended to arrive before the meal. Ours showed up just as we were finishing our entrées. Maybe they were traveling from Nepal on foot. The goat curry was actually pretty good, which briefly gave us hope. Then the garlic naan arrived and tasted suspiciously like something that had recently completed a successful career at Costco. If they have a tandoor, it's apparently being used for storage. To add to the experience, there was live singing. Unfortunately, the entertainment seemed to receive more attention than the food. My humble suggestion: spend less time rehearsing songs and more time rehearsing recipes. The grand finale? The morning after, both my son and I were dealing with indigestion. Nothing severe, but it was a fitting encore to an already memorable evening. I rarely write negative reviews, but when a restaurant charges premium prices, I expect more than tiny appetizers, delayed food, questionable naan, and a digestive adventure. The biggest mystery of the night remains how this place maintains such a high rating.
