Deep Dish Pizza - Supreme
Freddie L.

Chicago Style Vegan is truly a welcome addition to the growing list of vegan food delivery services popping up in Chicago. And Qia knows just how to pamper her customers who will find good value, reasonable prices, and scrumptious creations made from scratch.

What a lovely gem in the Austin neighborhood! I found this place in a Vegan group on FB. It's…read morewithin walking distance of my home; so I decided to check it out for lunch. It's a quaint establishment located on North Ave a few blocks east of Central Ave. I was greeted by the owners when I walked in. I love the picture mural of them on the east wall of the restaurant. I hate I didn't get a chance to snag a picture. I overlooked the menu and decided to try the "chicken" snaps and sweet potato fries. They cook everything to order so I had a bit of a wait, but it was well worth it. The oyster mushrooms were cooked to perfection. They were extremely crispy & flavorful. The fries were cut steakhouse style and tasted great! I've been back since my first initial visit so it's safe to say that I truly truly enjoyed their food & I'm not a vegan!! I will definitely be there often and you should too!

For my protein, ribs, for my sides, mac'n cheese and kale greens. Everything was soooo flavorful and well-seasoned. My mother enjoyed her taco plate; they have many options for tacos. Beware: the jerk jack is spicy spicy. I like spice and this was a lot for me, heat wise lol. I believe this place opened a few months ago. I hope they transition away from the plastic utensils and styrofoam containers to more eco-friendly items.

Where do I even start! I wish I lived here because I would come all the time…read more When we walked in we were the only people there which at first worried us but it ended up being the best dinner of our vacation. The food was amazing. We got the "frychos" which were like loaded fries and it was the probably one of the most flavorful and fun vegan dishes I've ever had. Ofc we also had to get the vegan deep dish and it was also really good. Since we were the only ones there we chatted quite a bit with the bartender and he was super friendly. We ended up putting a movie on the bar tv and watching that while we ate. They also had boardgames and free pinball and we played battleship while waiting for our pizza. If you have the chance to check this place out, you definitely should!! The bartender said they were usually busier because it's also a concert venue, but it was a nice day so we think people were going places they could eat outside. But quiet or hoppin this place would be an 11/10! :)

I got a beer, Maplewood IPA, and vegan nachos with "beef". They were very wet, they also had mixed greens on top which were nice but weird. For my main meal I got a fried chicken sandwich which had tempeh as the protein. It was very thick and dense but tasty. It came with French fries. My partner got a sour beer, and a chicken parm sandwich with French fries. He reported his was also very thick / dense.

It was perfect for a quick bite. There were amazing baked goods on display and we chose the kale salad scone, rosemary apricot scone, and pimento biscuit sandwich. All baked goods are beautiful and generously sized. All were delicious and unique. The cafe also has a full compliment of coffee drinks, but as it was a hot day we chose iced tea. I had an Arnold Palmer. There is self serve water as well. The selection is limited to baked goods only. We didn't try the cookies or cakes, but they looked amazing. The cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating in a small area surrounding potted plants making for an inviting setting with limited space. The staff are efficient and calm. If there is a line, as we were told there usually is, it moves quickly. I recommend this spot for a sweet or savory bite.

The location is probably the only issue I have because it's not close to me and their is always traffic. The sweet and savory cornbread biscuits are the best textured goods I have ever had. Soft on the inside with crunch on the outside and full of flavor. I prefer the sweet personally with the butter and homemade jam. The scones are a second favorite of mine with the newest addition of blue cheese, bacon, and sage being my favorite. A second would be the kale and cheddar. The BT Latte is also a staple for me with their homemade cinnamon coconut syrup. Just go already.

The meal started with complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered a mezcal margarita (fruta picanta) and my friend got a mango cocktail (mangasa). I liked mine a lot, my friend didn't care for the tajin rim on hers, and the waiter offered to replace it, but she stuck with it and liked it in the end. There were so many great sounding things on the menu, with gluten free and vegetarian options. We ended up splitting the calabaza- an acorn squash stuffed with mushroom risotto and also the wild mushroom tostada. The calabaza was great for winter, warm and filling. The tostada was lighter but really delicious, it was probably my favorite of the two. It was a great dinner, that I would definitely visit again if I'm back in town.

Thank goodness we had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server Meyah was super friendly. We started with a few cocktails ..one being the Oaxacan Old Fashion..smokey and delicious. We tried their Market Ceviche which was on their Weekly Specials menu..Cured Mahi Mahi Brazilian Papaya,Tangerine Habanero sauce served with Sweet Potato chips.fresh and delicious. For our entrees we tried the Barbacoa Tacos and Blackened Fish(Tilapia) tacos. Both entrees were 21.00 for 3 tacos but no rice or beans on the side so a little pricey in my opinion. Street parking is a challenge but they do offer valet for 5.00. They have a fantastic patio that is open in the summer so we will definitely be back to enjoy a few cocktails and Latin American eats.

The vibe inside is perfect for an intimate evening or afternoon lunch. Dark wood seating, an ample sized bar with dim lighting makes this a comfortable, chic spot. There is street side outdoor seating; however, there were no table umbrellas during our visit. The staff greeted us immediately and was happy to review the menu with us. We had the mole with roasted broccoli and cauliflower, unicorn pescado tacos and a Plato Fuerte with shrimp, lobster and chicken in a tasty creamy sauce. We loved all of the entrées; however, thought the mole was a lacking the traditional mole flavors we've tried before. The unicorn fish tacos were the standout and were crispy and delicious! We also appreciated the 4 taco serving, which was perfect for two. Prices were on point with other similar style restaurants in Oak Park, slightly elevated but fair for the quality of ingredients. Let's not forget the cocktails...outstanding!

On the downside, the bone marrow was undercooked, and we actually found a piece of aluminum foil in the mac and cheese that was prepared without truffle (menu states truffle). They remade it but it was a miss for us. The tres leches was underwhelming and a bit dry. Service was good--our waitress was attentive--but she didn't seem to know the menu very well. For example, we were told the street corn wouldn't be on the cob, but it was. Overall, some hits and some misses. Ambiance is ok - there's nothing that stands out. Drinks and mains were good, but a few things really missed the mark. For the price I don't think I would return.
