Spicy Cucumber Salad

Cute little corner restaurant in Oak Park. Service was friendly and quick. Outside area was nice and quaint.

Honey shrimp

First time at Mora - Oak Park yesterday, November 22. We came in for lunch. Service was A+! Our server, provided great recommendations as to what food to get, answer all questions, and was super friendly. Our food was served promptly. Dishes were flavorful and served at perfect temperature. Ambiance was "your nice, friendly neighborhood Asian fusion restaurant." Restaurant was clean and had cute decor. We had Lumpia (egg rolls) Gyoza Adobo fried rice - my fave here! Honey shrimp Orange chicken skewers Philadelphia roll Mango lemonade Strawberry lemonade We will definitely go back! Highly recommended!

Had a great experience here! We just moved to the area about a year ago and I am a sushi lover so I am glad we finally came here! All the fish was fresh and delicious and the rolls were unique and flavorful! I enjoyed sake and my husband had a great cocktail - we will most definitely be back! Atmosphere by the bar is fun and moody, and it was cool to see the kitchen from the restaurant. I did see some random furniture/storage up in the entryway and there was a little lack of excitement in the dining space in terms of design, but overall it was clean and staff were friendly and great so we would definitely come back!

What can I say. This place is a gem. Their food is amazing. We ordered kamayan, different kinds of sushi on a boat, salmon and veggies and banana wonton topped with ube cream. They are all delicious and presented well! Staff is also amazing and very accommodating. Shout out to Tony Santos for his excellent customer service and for being awesome!!! We came here for early dinner to celebrate my niece' graduation and he made sure our first visit is extra special! Thanks to Tony and to the staff for the experience. We will definitely be back.

We had such a difficult time deciding on what to order because everything looked so great, We had mostly their hot dishes, so excited to go back and try some of their sushi rolls. The tea, miso soup, and lumpia were great. the wings and noodles could have had more flavor. The service was very sweet and attentive. They are a very large restaurant with some seating options outdoors.

I got the Inihaw Salad because it was a novel menu item for me. I wanted to love it but the taste fell flat. The ingredients were fresh but I couldn't taste the garlic vinaigrette at all. I had to use a little of the sweet chili sauce from the lumpia so the salad would have a little flavor. Also, I think it was supposed to be eaten like a wrap because the bowl had big lettuce pieces but overall, it was just awkward. I had to ask for a knife (which wasn't provided as a default utensil) so the salad was easier to eat. My friend ordered the adobo pork belly and they said the meat was tough, stringy and hard to chew. I tried it myself and the skin was difficult to cut; the outer skin was dry instead of crispy. I feel like the meat wasn't braised long enough so it would be tender and it was seared too long. The flavor wasn't something to write home about either. The only one we liked was the soft shell nigiri. Mora should focus more on just the aesthetic of the dishes.

This place is located in a quieter part of Oak Park. It was very busy and there was a wait on a Saturday night, so reservations are recommended! The staff was very friendly and attentive. I ate the following: Lumpia: small but tasty! Crispy and satisfying Robata Yaki Tiger shrimp: juicy and plump with a lovely smoked flavours from the grill. Poke Tower: kind of misleading because there was no tower. Mango was not ripe- not sure if that was on purpose? Salmon and the chip were tasty though. Veggie roll: veggies were crisp and great in a veg roll!

I came here on a Thursday evening with a friend since I'm still new to the neighborhood. I had just missed HH (Happy Hour for those that don't know) by a hair. Darn! Anywho, I was seated right away in a dimly lit establishment in the back. Note: they do offer outdoor seating. I was asked if I wanted. A drink. I got the Forrbidden City which is their twist on a Manhattan. They make their bitters in house, which is super cool and they add a pear liqueur. My friend and I got two orders of the Korean wings - now she had been here before yearsssss ago and that was the first thing she mentioned so of course I had to try. I also ordered the vegan/ gluten free fried rice (fried hard) and she got a Mash 8 roll. The ambiance: gorgeous. Our reservation was for 6:30pm and it was dimly lit. By the time we left, the front of the bar was popping. Definitely was giving bar first date with drinks vibes. Real cute and simple if you don't want a meal. The service: Nicole! Yes you girl you get a shout out. Sis made SURE my friend and I were taken care of. She did her thing while simultaneously training a new hire who also was very diligent and attentive. Nicole gave honest recommendations that really fit what we wanted. The food: chileeeee them cooks can cook. Do you hear me?! They did their thing. The chicken wings we're crispy. How crispy it looks in my photo is how it was in real life. The sauce didn't make it soggy - none of that. The fried rice was bussing. They even threw in tofu. For $10, you can beat that portion size. If you didn't guess it already, I'm returning here. I need to try like three more menu items and two more drinks. lol.

Amazing all around!! The food was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and delicious, but it was the prompt and friendly service that really made our night and will be the reason we return- often! We felt so welcomed and special!! The hostess, waiter, and bus staff were all so lovely and seemed like they were happy to be there, and happy to welcome us. We booked in advance and dined on the patio. Staff is masked. Masks indoors, too, but we sat outside so we took off ours. My husband had the chef's special (see photo) but I'm sorry I don't recall the name of it. My son loved the Filipino Fries and a salmon roll. I had the amazing gluten-free vegetarian rice noodles, just incredible. Best noodle dish I've ever had, just loaded with delicious vegetables as a flavorful vegan sauce, and a very generous serving. $88 plus tip for 3 meals and my hearty mai tai cocktail. Be careful with that one. The mai tai was very strong. Delicious and amazing, but strong. Beautiful night. We will absolutely be back, soon! Thank you!!

Cute sushi spot. Love the Brussels sprouts!

I wanted rich but simple straightforward flavors for lunch and I got it. The egg foo young was not greasy or over-fried, had plenty of medium sized shrimp beansprouts and green onions. The rice was very good, each grain of rice was separate and lightly glazed in soy, had a slight smokey flavor from what i assume was a high heat wok. Simple ingredients and dishes but very complex umami rich flavors in the egg foo young and rice and both dishes had been perfectly cooked. Egg roll was basic and lacking enough filling in my opinion but still crispy and tasty. For $14 including tax and credit card service charge it was a good price.

The portion sizes, the flavors, the drinks(!) = all top notch! It's so unfortunate that I moved away or else I would be here significantly more often now. I had the Coco Loco drink and it blew my socks off. It was so refreshing and felt like I needed it on a beach. It tasted like a stronger Pina Colada. The drinks are $15 but I think they could potentially be worth it because of the amount of quality/size you get. Actually, the price of all the dishes were a bit much but you will definitely have leftovers for the next day. Good vibes. Thank you Chef Shangri-La, I'll be seeing you soon! Personal Review: 8.9/10

What I love most is the versatility...you have the traditional sit-down dining area, and then on the other side (toward the back/left), there's the hibachi grill. Whether you're in the mood to relax and be served or want something fresh off the grill, you've got options. Now, I'll be honest, the line can get long, especially on Sundays right when they open at noon. But it's absolutely worth the wait. Everything is fresh and made to order, and I've never had a bad experience here. Some of my go-to favorites include the egg foo young, Mongolian beef, spicy egg rolls, and spicy crab rolls...but honestly, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is always friendly and welcoming, which makes a difference. The atmosphere has a little bit of buzz to it, but it's not overwhelming, you can still enjoy your conversation without feeling like you're shouting over noise. Overall, this is a five-star go-to spot for me. Consistent, flavorful, and reliable every single time. If you're in the Chicagoland area, especially near Elmwood Park, New Star is definitely worth checking out.

First, I was told they were waiting for a table to open up. Then they were waiting on a cook. Finally, a staff member said the people at our reserved table were still eating and they were waiting for them to get up. When I asked when our table would actually be ready, she laughed, threw her hands up, and said she didn't know. What made the situation even worse was watching other customers walk in and be seated while we continued to wait. From what I observed, Black families were waiting extended periods of time, while White and Mexican customers were seated much more quickly. A party of 15 that arrived well after us was even seated before my group. I am deeply disappointed and disgusted by the treatment my family received on my mother's birthday. This would have been her first hibachi experience, and instead it was ruined by poor customer service and what appeared to be unfair treatment. I will never return and would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

Honestly, you will be better off going to an Asian market like H-Mart and buying frozen dim sum and making it at home . . . or maybe that is exactly what they actually serve here. The dim sum here is very small in size and lack flavor. Sui mais are usually pork and shrimp wrapped dumplings. These were small and filled with mushy shrimp. The bean curd roll had no flavor and was smaller than a cannoli. What they serve is outrageous and an insult to anyone who has had "real" dim sum. The sticky rice actually had some flavor with minimal savory filling and was the only thing passable on the menu. If you are desperate in having dim sum, I guess Sweet Dim Sum would fit the bill. Definitely, lower your expectations though on the quality and quantity of their dim sum. Sorry, but if I ever go back, it would be just to order their signature drinks. They couldn't mess that up, could they?

No, but Chinatown isn't that far of a drive, so it is disappointing that this Oak Park alternative wouldn't qualify as decent. When we walked in, there was a case of Mille crepe cakes, which looked homemade but didn't look very appetizing as they looked like pancakes stacked on and filled with whipped cream. We opted to try bubble teas and some savory dim sum. The cost of the soup dumplings was so astronomical that I could not justify purchasing four dumplings for $13.50. Also considering you can get a giant bag from Costco for that same price and it probably tastes better. The shrimp and chives cakes were honestly the best and they were just okay. The rice crepes were so bad. You can tell they were previously frozen and put into the microwave because it was falling apart. The shrimp was colorless. The veggie one we got was inedible; we sent it back. They wanted to make it right and gave us complementary mochi donuts. It was a nice gesture that we appreciated. We still ended up going to Katy's across the street because we did not feel like we had a sufficient dinner. There are no sauces here. If you ask, they'll give you the tiniest amount of sauce. There are also no chopsticks. Unless things really turn around, I'm inclined to save my money here and make the short trip to Chinatown.

Before dropping us off at the airport, my wife's aunt treated us (my wife, her mom, and me) to lunch. I got to choose the place, and the experience ended up being really great. Even though it looks like you are supposed to stand in line to order and pay, the restaurant also supports a typical dine-in experience. It's an open kitchen, with seating on the side. Once we were seated, we were given menus and a tablet to place our order, but our server stayed around to explain that she would be back to help us place the order. She was the only front of house working, and she was friendly and efficient, constantly going back and forth to service to-go order taking and dine-in. The one page menu has two parts: a Chinese part and a Japanese part, and had items that we call could eat. Once we placed our order, the items came out in the following order, after being made to order. Karaage ($6.95) - five pieces of all white meat chicken, freshly deep fried. Everyone liked it, though I wish the coating was crispier. Tonkotsu Ramen ($15.95) - My wife's aunt and I got this. We both agreed the broth should have been served a lot hotter, but it was flavorful. I was especially impressed with the Chashu pork, two thin but generous pieces, nicely crisped first before serving. Edamame ($6.50) - my wife's go-to when at a Japanese restaurant. Chicken Shoyu Ramen ($15.95) - Got one for my wife's mom, and then ordered another for carry-out. One has the choice of thick noodles (classic ramen), or thin, or rice noodles. Pork and Crab Meat Xiao Long Bao ($13.99 for 12 pieces) - one can ask for it prepared steamed or pan-fried. It's great value since it is machine made and guessing prepared from frozen. It's more meat than broth in the filling, and the taste and mouthfeel was OK. But I was impressed that it was offered here at all. Would get it pan fried next time. Scallion Pancakes ($6.50) - served last, this was outstanding. Very thin and crispy. Just wish it had been served first so we could all enjoy...most of us were full by the time it came out. We paid at the end through our server. My wife's aunt really liked the 'Chicago Dumpling' t-shirt that our server was wearing, and wanted one for herself. Our server did mention that they do sell it for $30, but were out of them at the moment. We were given take-home containers to self-pack, and was warmly thanked by everyone before we left. Good value food in a comfortable setting with excellent service: that's what I will remember about Chicago Dumpling.
