Excited to see a dim sum restaurant opened in downtown Oak Park. Unfortunately, their dim sum is not very good. Honestly, you will be better off going to an Asian market like H-Mart and buying frozen dim sum and making it at home . . . or maybe that is exactly what they actually serve here. The dim sum here is very small in size and lack flavor. Sui mais are usually pork and shrimp wrapped dumplings. These were small and filled with mushy shrimp. The bean curd roll had no flavor and was smaller than a cannoli. What they serve is outrageous and an insult to anyone who has had "real" dim sum. The sticky rice actually had some flavor with minimal savory filling and was the only thing passable on the menu. If you are desperate in having dim sum, I guess Sweet Dim Sum would fit the bill. Definitely, lower your expectations though on the quality and quantity of their dim sum. Sorry, but if I ever go back, it would be just to order their signature drinks. I think they're trying, but the dishes very much lack quality. Is it fair to rate this place against Chinatown? No, but Chinatown isn't that far of a drive, so it is disappointing that this Oak Park alternative wouldn't qualify as decent. When we walked in, there was a case of Mille crepe cakes, which looked homemade but didn't look very appetizing as they looked like pancakes stacked on and filled with whipped cream. We opted to try bubble teas and some savory dim sum. The cost of the soup dumplings was so astronomical that I could not justify purchasing four dumplings for $13.50. Also considering you can get a giant bag from Costco for that same price and it probably tastes better. The shrimp and chives cakes were honestly the best and they were just okay. The rice crepes were so bad. You can tell they were previously frozen and put into the microwave because it was falling apart. The shrimp was colorless. The veggie one we got was inedible; we sent it back. They wanted to make it right and gave us complementary mochi donuts. It was a nice gesture that we appreciated. We still ended up going to Katy's across the street because we did not feel like we had a sufficient dinner. There are no sauces here. If you ask, they'll give you the tiniest amount of sauce. There are also no chopsticks. Unless things really turn around, I'm inclined to save my money here and make the short trip to Chinatown. read more

Today Friday 2/27/26 at about 11:30 a.m. My wife and I entered the restaurant and not seated. The employee "Andy" wanted us to choose items from the menu on the counter instead of seating us with menus. More than half the items on the menu were not available. After placing the order to my surprise, the employee wanted payment up front. The employee continue to request payment BEFORE we were seated and BEFORE the meal was served. The employee goes on to say that's the policy of the restaurant. Which I hope is untrue and this establishment is not racist. My wife and I went across the street to eat. read more

honestly a cute spot inside! came to try their dim sum bogo for their grand opening, but it'd be better to drive a little more to chinatown. the soup dumplings and the rice crepe roll was broken :( the best one was the sticky rice with chicken and mushroom. the others we tried were just okay it is a order at the counter service rather than a sit down take your order idea, so service was good in regards to that. overall unfortunately don't think we will be coming back for the dim sum read more

If you're familiar with dim sum, you might find this place lacking. If you're new to dim sum, this won't be the best introduction. We ordered the Lucky Five, Siu Mai, Fish Beancurd Sheet Roll, Shrimp Rice Crepe Roll, and Matcha Dango. Sadly, aside from the Lucky Five, most of the dishes were quite bland. The Lucky Five had decent flavor but stuck to the steamer, tore apart, and leaked through the steamer onto the table. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I hope they make some improvements to enhance the flavors to better capture the essence of dim sum. read more

Went in today with the family to try a few things. We got the fish cone ice cream, a mochi donut, some dango, a specialty drink and three savoury items. Things come up randomly, but that is the nature of dim sum so it is to be expected. You can order the ice cream and delay service on it, which is nice if you just want to pay for everything at once. The donuts were a bit odd, different than the mochinut ones we are used to. Tempura came with the wrong sauce (sweet chili is not what it should be served with!) but overall pretty good and certainly a lot of variety for everyone. One thing that could improve is more screens to order as there is only one and when people are in groups and unfamiliar with the menu it could delay things for everyone. I want to love this place and I think I will! The flavor of the soup dumplings was so good- especially the traditional pork one. And the wrapper on the dumplings was perfect. But every single one broke in the serving tray, releasing the soup into the dish and defeating the whole point. The spoon offered wasn't big enough for the dumplings and there was no vinegar for dipping! I'm hoping these oversights will be remedied. read more

A bit confused on the concept. You list yourself as as 'Dim Sum' but I'm not leaving thinking this is Chinatown quality (which I was hoping for). The Dim Sum (outside of the Dumplings) feels like warmed up microwave items I get from HMart or Park to Shop. I was hoping for "D's Cuisine" or "Minghin" quality dim sum and left underwhelmed. Service was underwhelming also as on the night we went (Saturday night), they were out of Chocolate and Vanilla for a Tapioca ball drinks. Not sure how that is even possible. My recommendation, brand yourself as more a mochie/smoothie place with some side dishes for small plates (dim sum). You have the College/High School nearby, you'd get more traffic of people wanting to come in with High School/College kids hanging out with smoothies/bubble drinks.....Otherwise, feel this will become a business casualty very fast..... read more

Great idea but not well executed. I tried their egg tarts and my experience was lackluster. Definitely not chinatown nor argyle quality. I had to wait 10ish minutes for them to reheat their egg tart. Prices are a bit higher than usual too. If you're craving dimsum, sure go ahead. However, if you want QUALITY dim sum, go to chinatown. read more

The food is subpar and I wouldn't feed it to my dog. The service is awful! This is a one stop shop and I guarantee you will never go back after visiting it once. My wife and I stopped by on a walk to split some taiyaki cone ice cream. We got an ube and matcha swirl and it was some of the richest ice cream we've ever had and both the ube and matcha flavors were excellent. Everyone in there was incredibly nice and what I assume to be the owner or manager even stopped to ask how things were on our way out. Ahh! This used to be Currito. Remember that! I had the Mango Passion Fruit Tea, and it was pretty good. The staff and service are very good.

The shui mai was terrible filling was doughy with bits of bamboo shoots no shrimp. Looks and taste frozen. But I have had better frozen.

Love there is a dessert and dim sum place in Oak Park! We love the mochinuts. We would order them every time we visit. Inside is a cute cafe where you order from a kiosk and the staff brings the food to your table (if you're eating in) or have it ready at the end of the front. There is a limited amount of drinks on the menu - hope they'll offer more flavors in the future! We like the passionfruit and mango tea. Dim sum is okay - it is a bit pricey for what it is. Overall, decent experience. Hope there'll be more offerings! read more

If I could get zero stars I would. We were so excited to try Sweet Dim Sum after all of the good reviews on the Takeout25 page. So we decided to pop in today while we were in Oak Park. We ordered an Ube ice cream cone, a Matcha ice cream cone and Ube Dango. Unfortunately, what we ordered and what we saw in the photos were not what we received. When the employee brought our ice cream cones to the table, they were half full and melting. When I pointed out to her that it was only half the amount that was advertised in the photographs she said that it was soft serve, and that was all that she could put on it. I questioned then why they would put so much in the photograph if they couldn't actually deliver that to the customers. She said "do you want it or do you want to refund?" I said I want the amount that I paid for. I had to argue with her and haggle with her to convince her to give us the remaining amount that we paid for in cups. And then my husband received his dango.... In the photograph, there are three pieces. You can see what we received in the other photograph. When he pointed out to her that there were only two on the plate she said that the photograph was just a suggestion and we shouldn't expect it to look like that. We said it wasn't even about the looks. It was about the portion. The portion and the photograph had three, but when they only had two. The employee was extremely unhelpful, and seem to not care at all. The table next to us even said that they didn't like anything either and the tea that they served was not Jasmine, but regular tea and they left half of their food on the table untouched. As an Asian American resident living in Oak Park I love this little cute shop. Having come from Southern California where I'm more use to having hundreds of shops like this I really appreciate their diverse menu. It's not easy to have boba, donuts, ice cream, and dim sum. Truly awful. I ordered only the shrimp/chive fried dumpling because it's a favorite of mine. I wanted to like it. I was very hungry. I threw out half my order. A terrible mess of garlic, more garlic, invisible shrimp and lots of green stuff (chives?) soaked in grease. Stunningly bad. What are they thinking? read more
