I enjoyed a business lunch here at MingHin on a Monday (so glad they were open today, as several of my favorite Asian restaurants are closed Mondays). For starters, hot tea and sticky rice. My favorites were the shrimp dumplings and crispy shrimp rolls, but I also love a good greens in oyster sauce dish. Ordering is easy from a tablet or off the menu but unfortunately a couple things we wanted to order from the menu were no longer available. The steam baskets were removed from our table pretty quickly after they were emptied. Plenty of parking here and the restaurant wasn't too crowded yet, early on a Monday. I appreciated the sturdy chopsticks for use as well as a fork as needed, but a knife would be helpful too, for the crispy greens. I would like to return for dinner sometime and try more dim sum choices. This is a great place to go for a meeting, date night, or with a group. read more

I love this resturant. The fried rice snd dumplings are tasteful. They have many servers who are attentive. They have many rooms sectioned off for dining. I love sweet and sour sauce for my fried rice and they kept taking it away lol . They thought they were clearing my spot! I guess I'm odd. This place is a legit dim sum restaurant. Had some of the best leaf wrapped steam rice that I've ever had. It was freshly steamed and did not clump like you normally find in restaurants. They have the usual dim sum favorites everything was delicious and staff was very nice. The vibe is very cool, classical Chinese restaurant. I've been here multiple times, with one friend or with a bigger group, and it's always a great time either way since it's so easy to share different dishes. The inside is spacious with plenty of seating, tables and booths. You order off an iPad and can see actual pictures of each dish, which is really helpful. We got the tea, which is strong but recommend it if you're a tea person. My advice is to order a bunch of different things and share, that's the easiest way to do it here, and everything I've had has been consistently good. Definitely get the shrimp shumai. The first stop when we arrived at the airport was this dim sum spot called MingHin Cuisine. They have a few locations all over Chicago. The interior of this place is super cute and well-designed. Modern touch with a really well-designed layout. Ordering is via a tablet, and there are no old-school carts that come around. Everything is just given to you by a server. The food itself was hot and tasty! We ordered so much food and everything was super delicious. My favorite was actually a tofu dish that was good with whatever sauce it was. MingHin is a staple for me in Chicago. I usually go to the downtown or chinatown locations, so this is the first time in the burbs. I almost think it's better - this just might be my bias coming from SoCal as it reminds me of home dimsum spots a bit. Everything was really legit/delicious. Not a miss at all. I brought friends who had never had dimsum before and they enjoyed it. All the regular dishes such as shu mai, char siu bao (they have both the steamed and baked), shrimp dumplings were really fresh and good! I also tried a couple new things too like the honeycomb tripe with daikon, the pork spare ribs with rice rolls. Wow it's been 8 years since I wrote my last review. Minghin is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants and that has not changed. They still have a great selection of food, from dim sum, seafood, beef, and chicken dishes. Great location for large groups as the restaurant is huge. We had reservations for 20 people last night and it was not a problem. We took up 2 tables of 10 people each, right next to each other. Restaurant is always nice and clean and the lighting is always good. Service is pretty fast as well. We ordered a lot of food and it comes out within a matter of 10-15 minutes. The food is pretty good but the service is intense. And by intense I mean nonstop. You don't have the opportunity to enjoy what you order by the time the busser and coming and trying to take plates away, plates you are still eating from! The entire meal felt extremely rushed like you were on a timer not something you were spending hard earned money on to enjoy! A few of the standouts has to the pork siu mai, roast duck & the fried roasted pork cubes that has a sugar salt dipping mixture. Now I have gone to other event hosted by my friend & I knew it was going to be a special extravagant event that would spare no expense. Any time I visit it is very busy and always consistent. The food is so delicious and nothing ever really disappoints. I absolutely love the beef stir fried rice noodles, the shrimp fun rolls, shrimp hargow and any of the shrimp dumplings tbh. Whatever we ordered was all delicious and I would highly recommend to go for a nice dinner or lunch. First time trying this location, I've been to their other location in downtown. This place is huge! Came on a Wednesday night and partook in the "weekday happy hour" for 20% off my order. Food was tasty but not fresh. We could tell that everything was premade...some wrappers were gummy, pastries were a little dry, meat was chewy. I was in town for a wedding and visiting family, my flight back unfortunately was cancelled. But the silver lining: I got to eat one additional meal with family and got to try this place. My family and I ordered some items off the dimsum menu (they have dimsum all day) as well as regular dishes. We ordered so many things I don't quite remember all that we got, but that I can recall: squid, snow peas, shrimp chow fun, ha gow, Chinese broccoli (?), seafood tofu bowl. For dessert: pineapple custard buns, sesame balls. I was thoroughly impressed by all the food. The veggies were all cooked really well (not raw and not overcooked) and had light but flavorful seasoning. The hagow had nice big shrimp chunks inside. The dessert buns were also very delicious as well, and I think come in perfect sizes. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants as of recently it has gone down tremendously the quality of food the taro puff, and the shrimp eggroll was very good. The beef chow fun had no flavor. We get MingHin occasionally when we are craving some authentic Cantonsese Chinese food. However the food we got today was a bit of a miss. For the Steamed Scallop and Vermicelli with Garlic (6 pcs), we asked for no chilies on top, but they ignored that request. They also used cheap bay scallops on top of sea scallop shells which seems like a bait and switch. Their pastries like egg tarts were also stale and not fresh. Disappointing considering how expensive they've gotten lately. Probably will not return until they fix some of these issues. read more

MingHin in Rolling Meadows has been our go-to spot for dim sum and Chinese cuisine for several years now. We're truly fortunate to have such an authentic and high-quality restaurant right here in the suburbs. Whether it's a casual weekend lunch or a special celebration, we've visited countless times for all kinds of occasions. Whenever our friends from out of state come to visit, a dim sum lunch at MingHin is a must. We always arrive right when they open at 11:00 a.m. (to avoid the long line if you come during the peak time from 12 to 1), and often linger until 2:00 p.m., catching up over delicious bites. No one ever seems to mind our long stay. The four of us usually get seated at a six-person table in a semi-private area, mainly because we order way too much food every time and we need a big table top! The staff are always friendly and accommodating, which adds to the experience. Most recently, we celebrated my sister-in-law's birthday there with a banquet-style dinner. All the dishes were pre-ordered (see photos), and everything was outstanding. The standout dish of the night was a lightly battered, deep-fried Chilean sea bass - not even on the regular menu. It was served piping hot, incredibly fresh, and full of flavor. To top it off, we were each given a complimentary warm Lava Salted Egg Yolk Bun, though some of us had to take them home--we were too full to enjoy them on the spot! Every time we're in Chicago we go to Ming Hin in Chinatown but didn't have a chance to so we tried the suburb location. Food was good but not quite as good as the city location. The fried rice was significantly different as I'm a huge fan of the shrimp fried rice at the Chinatown location. The rapid speed of the food service is just as quick as the city so that was great. I did like how this location did look better although it's likely because they have more room and it's newer. read more

I went to MingHin Cuisine at the Chinatown location, but it was my first time trying this one. We went at the beginning of the day, so we were seated right away. The food was overall pretty consistent with their other location, from what I can remember. I think the only thing is that the staff could be more friendly and efficient, but it is pretty understandable and similar at other dim sum places. Overall, if you are ever craving dim sum and don't want to go all the way to Chicago Chinatown, I would recommend going to this location instead! read more

Came here with a group of 4 for dinner and had a decent experience with a few hiccups. Overall, the food is good - there was nothing super extraordinary and nothing super terrible - very average. I do like that you can order dim sum all day long, however, as some places stop serving dim sum in the evening. As for what we ordered: Har gow - These were great. They had the right amount of bounce in the skin and tasty shrimp inside. Siu Mai - The other dim sum staple was also good - the wonton skin was thin and the filling was flavorful and meaty. Chicken feet - I normally don't like this dish, but the sauce at MingHin was very tasty. I'd order this again. One of the hiccups was surrounding this dish, however - the first time it was brought to our table, there was a hair on the chicken. However, it was handled quite well - the waiter took it promptly and replaced our dish with a new one a few minutes later. Potstickers - Three potstickers per order is a bit low, and they tasted okay but nothing too special, I'd pass on these next time. Shrimp rice crepe - Also solid - nothing too great but nothing bad here. The shrimp inside was a nice size but lacked flavor. Seafood pan fried noodles - The star of the evening. Nicely crispy noodles with a great and flavorful sauce. The veggies were large and well cooked, but the seafood itself lacked some flavor. Still, we order this for the noodles so it was a win. (Not pictured) We also ordered a plate of salted fish fried rice after getting our first few dishes. This is where the 2nd hiccup came in - we waited a very long time (maybe 20-25 minutes) for this dish, and when we were eventually served, we were served a plate of eggplant. The waiter dropped it off and quickly left, so it sat on our table for a few minutes before we were able to flag someone down. They took the eggplant away and then the fried rice didn't come for another ten minutes or so after that. I'm not sure what happened to the eggplant, but it went on the bar at first and then a person delivering food on a trolley took it after that. The fried rice was quite salty (though salted fish does tend to be salty), but I wouldn't take away points for that - just the wait time and the issue with the eggplant showing up instead. All in all, the food was okay - if we didn't get the hair on the chicken and the mixup with the eggplant/fried rice, I would have probably given this a 4/5 but given the circumstances, MingHin gets a 3 for this visit. read more

Alrighty - let's start off with the basics - I am a very fair reviewer when it comes to reviewing restaurants, food, etc. I've been doing this for a long time, and as such I tend to be direct and honest. A friend of mine recommended MingHin in Rolling Meadows to me a few days ago after we were chatting about the best Dim Sum restaurants we have been to. For me personally, Phat Phat in Schaumburg is my favorite and I have introduced many friends to their incredible food. My friend who recommended MingHin insisted they were so much better, will blow me away, etc. I had pretty high hopes when I suggested to my husband we go here tonight and have dinner. All that said... To be completely, brutally honest... we had a pretty miserable time at MingHin tonight :'(. I wish that wasn't the case, but it was absolutely the case. Let me start with layering out what we ordered, what we got, how the restaurant was, etc. THE GOOD: - The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice. Very clean, very well kept, etc. The interior was fantastic. Loved the ability to order on the iPad, etc. Really sharp! - The staff, overall, was very kind. While they did not come visit you much after you sat down, when you needed them they were there. Our server was attentive when we flagged them down, etc. They didn't really explain anything about how ordering worked at all, however. You had to figure it out for yourself (which we did as we have visited a few places previously that had a similar iPad type ordering system). - Both the cold milk tea with boba and the hot tea they served when you sat down were both really good! I enjoyed them! THE BAD: - Pretty much everything else. I know that sounds incredibly harsh, but I am just being honest. We have had every type of Asian food you can think of, ranging from Cantonese, American style Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Mongolian, Japanese, etc. You name it, we've probably had it. That said... this was just straight up not good. Allow me to elaborate a little bit here - when you ordered on the iPad there were NO mention of any ingredients in each dish. You had to rely on just a photo (maybe) for what you were ordering. As I said earlier, the servers were not around unless you called for them. Everything we ordered arrived within 2 to 5 minutes of when the server finalized our order. Making this type of food fresh is NOT physically possible in 2-5 minutes. This tells me everything was premade and heated up. Tonight we ordered the following dishes: * Siu Mai: Was incredibly not good, lacking in all flavor, seasoning, etc. * BBQ Ribs: We each had one tiny rib bite, left all the rest. * BBQ Pork Fried Rice: No seasoning, very bland. Truly not good. We each had one serving spoon of the rice, left the rest. * Steamed Pork Bun: My husband had two bites, we left all of it. * Xiao Long Bao (Pork Soup Dumplings): Three in the serving, we had ONE. Left the rest. * Pan Fried Pot Stickers (regular portion of 6): Ate 2, took the other 4 home. Passable. * Pan Fried Vegetable Roll: Absolutely vile. Truly awful. Absolutely COVERED in grease, immediately tore apart, vegetables were half mushy half raw, zero seasoning. We had ONE bite, didn't touch the rest. With tip it was $80+ dollars. We left everything except the pot stickers, server saw we didn't eat anything, never once asked if the meal was ok, never once offered to get a manager (granted, we didn't ask for one - we wanted out of there ASAP). That said, at least ASK how the food was and we could have at least shared like "Hmmm - it's not what we were expecting". We didn't ask for a refund, but when 90% of the food is remaining on the table, not taken to go, you should at least ask your guests what happened. All that said, check out Phat Phat in Schaumburg if you want incredible soup dumplings, appetizers, rice, etc. It will blow you away. As for MingHin - sorry, but it's not for us. Ive been here about 4 times now, its such a great home away from home. My family grew up in chinatown chicago so having moved out to the suburbs and still having good chinese food is a hit. Recently, we went here for my father's 65th birthday because he decided if my daughter says its good then I trust it . Needless to say everything was amazing. Ambiance is always lovely and upscale, service is extremely attentive with multiple people visiting your table for refreshments, plate removal and standard check ins. I will say the last two consecutive visits the same waiter comes up to us to tell us the kitchen is closing, ok, I get that, but he wasn't even nice about it. His eyes all bugged out, The stern look on his face, made me uncomfortable he did that twice in a roll. Should be more nice about it....no, more professional. I hope he does better with his customer skills. Seriously go the way before they close, the last hour they become clock watchers and I wanted to order another beverage and the waiter gave me a hard time, it's something you pour into a glass, not involving the kitchen whatsoever.
