Very nice restaurant with great ambiance, service and food. This is an authentic Asian restaurant, not at all what we were expecting. We thought it would be "American" Chinese food. I ordered the vegan eggplant with garlic sauce, expecting a white garlic sauce. Well, this was just eggplant soaked in chili oil. As I have aged, I cannot eat much oil or fried food anymore, so this was a loss. The chili pepper was just the mouth numbing Szechwan Peppercorn, which I have never enjoyed at any age. My husband got the combination Lo Mein, and absolutely loved it. He also got the scallion pancake appetizer which he found to be delicious. Kung Pao Chicken: I wasn't a big fan of this dish. The spice level overpowered the chicken, even though the meat itself was tender. Our waitress did not rush us and offered us hot tea while we decided what to order. They have a large variety of dishes on the menu. I ordered Mongolian chicken and my husband ordered Mongolian beef. The Mongolian chicken was a bit spicier than I am used to, but the chicjen was very tender. The accompanying rice was a generous portion. The staff were very nice, and attentive. From the moment we stepped into this restaurant, we were greeted with warmth and my young family felt right at home. Asian Bistro is a Szechwan style restaurant, with many of the dishes being quite hot and authentic. It was about 30 minutes before closing when I walked in, and the restaurant was still quite full. I placed my order, then waited about 10 minutes. Once the food came, I paid for it then, and we went our way. The first dish was twice cooked pork ($17.95): steamed pork belly, cooked again with leeks in a spicy, black bean sauce. It came with a small rice, and I really enjoyed the flavor. Located in a strip mall, I found out about this place through friends. The food was all very decent and they had generous portion sizes. I recommend coming here with a group or it's also nice with your significant other. You'll for sure have leftovers to take home. I found the prices to be very reasonable and standard. Ground pork was used to make the filling; it was flavorful. The rich red, spicy oil sauce covered the wontons. Surprisingly, the sauce wasn't spicy; it was savory and slightly sweet. As a garnish, green onions and sesame seeds were added. I had their beef chow fun as my entree, which is stir-fried noodles with slices of beef, chopped scallions, bean sprouts, and carrots chopped into juliennes. The dish's appearance is unappealing because to its dull brown tone. It would look better if there were additional carrots or scallions added for color. After being seated, the waitress allowed us to chat and catch up until we were ready to order. I enjoyed every dish we ordered. Here is the breakdown: CHENGDU LIAN MEIN - noodle dish tossed in Szechuan oil sprinkled with sesame seeds served at room temperature. The noodle had a nice bite and it was not too spicy. It was simple but delicious. TOFU HOME STYLE - fried tofu with leeks, bamboo shoot, black mushroom, and pork stir-fried in Szechuan oil. The tofu was a bit tough for my taste from being fried too long. It was good, nevertheless. YU SHUNG EGGPLANT - Chinese eggplant stirred fried with ground pork. The eggplant was cooked to a delicate texture. It was delightful with plain rice or by itself. SZECHUAN STRING BEAN - a very simple green bean dish toss with Szechuan peppercorn. One of my favorite Szechuan dishes. The staff is personable and attentive. There is nothing fancy about this place except good food at a very reasonable price and plenty of parking available since it is in a strip mall. The Asian Bistro is very easy to pass by. It's in the middle of a strip mall with a very traditional name. But once you stop in, you'll find a unique Asian experience. This restaurant has two menus and serves traditional Asian fare as well as the more familiar Americanize Asian cuisine. We went with two friends and got to try four entrees. We tried the orange chicken, tofu, salt and pepper chicken, and a spicy fish dish. The orange chicken was made with orange peel and had a great real orange taste. The tofu and salt and pepper chicken were very flavorful and distinctive. The fish was good but was too spicy for me, but not for my table-mates who very much enjoyed the dish. The restaurant got more crowded as the evening wore on. We were very well attended to even though it was clear that they were understaffed. The decor here is so nice. It makes for an enjoyable meal. The staff is so polite and helpful and makes you feel so welcome. We ordered Tenderloin on Iron Plate and Fried Tofu on Hot Iron Plate. Both dishes were so tasty and the portions were plenty. A very delicious appetizer of lotus root and corn was brought to the table as part of the meal. A light vinegar and oil dressing made the appetizer so yummy. Hot tea is also served. You can find typical Chinese dishes here and even then, they make it in a unique way. I always recommend their specialty dishes, as long as you're not worried about the spice and let the waiters be aware of it. I have tried almost every dish on their menu, my frequent favorites are the 夫妻肺片，辣子鸡，回锅肉，and their fish dishes. My parents tend to be very selective when it comes to Chinese food, but they never say no when we come here. (Always ask for the Chinese menu and Google translate to the best you can, or come with someone who understands Chinese). I always leave here feeling satisfied (usually stuffed, haha!). Atmosphere: The atmosphere is cozy and unpretentious, giving it that "hidden gem" feel. It's a place where you can relax, enjoy incredible food, and feel a sense of home. The owner of the place was just sitting around reading a newspaper and not paying any attention to us even though we were the only customers in the place. The one waiter there didn't know how to speak english, so the owner should have stepped in but she was really slow to do so. Also, when we asked for sauces for the hot pot, she got really short with us and told us it was on the menu. The sauce menu was in all Chinese and none of us were Chinese. Pretty silly of her to get short with us. Also, the sauces were extra money which is nuts considering no one else charges for sauce. We got all these really funky dishes, which most of the people could not eat. The other traditional chinese dishes we got were all super salty. We got salt and pepper fish, mapo tofu, szechuan beef, dan dan noodle and hot and sour soup. Szechuan beef and dan dan noodle were the only decent dishes. The others were way too salty and not good. We also got hot pot and that was decent. In the end, we ended up with a really expensive bill and TONS of leftover food. If the owner really cared, she would have not suggested all those additional dishes and tried to have been more helpful. The condition of the restaurant was really bad too. If you have no customers, go and clean up the place! The chairs and tables were all sticky. Pretty gross. I think with a change of attitude from owners/management, this place has a lot of potential. This was my first time to check this restaurant out. It was lunch time, but the restaurant was pretty much empty, but they were very busy with carry out orders. Super friendly staff, very quick service, and lunch special was reasonable as well. So I decided to ordered the Shrimp Snow Pea. It was a bit salty and doesn't have sweet taste while chewing it. The lunch came with soup and an mini egg roll. I chose the hot and sour one, it was cold and seemed like come from the cans. One thing was great is the steam rice, it was cooked as it should be compare with other undercooked rice from other fancy restaurants.
