mapo tofu with fish fillet
Krystian C.

My family always enjoy eating here! We've found dishes that we love and order every time. (Will snap more pics and update review, I'm always too hungry ) Highly recommend: mapo tofu with fish fillet, orange beef, Dan Dan noodles, pea pod tips, twice cooked pork. Servers are friendly and pretty quick: my only slight complaint is I wish the food would come out all together - we've had a couple experiences where dishes would come out slowly one by one, and towards the end, there was a dish that would be forgotten. They brought it out quickly, but I've noticed that has happened more than once.

A small restaurant located in a strip mall. The restaurant was not busy on a Sunday afternoon, but several tables were reserved and by the time we left more parties have arrived. Our waitress did not rush us and offered us hot tea while we decided what to order. They have a large variety of dishes on the menu. I ordered Mongolian chicken and my husband ordered Mongolian beef. The Mongolian chicken was a bit spicier than I am used to, but the chicjen was very tender. The accompanying rice was a generous portion. The staff were very nice, and attentive. Definately worth trying.

Still hungry after going to a sushi restaurant (and needing to get carryout for my non-sushi-eating wife), I stopped into Asian Bistro for carryout. The food and service was solid. Asian Bistro is a Szechwan style restaurant, with many of the dishes being quite hot and authentic. It was about 30 minutes before closing when I walked in, and the restaurant was still quite full. I placed my order, then waited about 10 minutes. Once the food came, I paid for it then, and we went our way. The first dish was twice cooked pork ($17.95): steamed pork belly, cooked again with leeks in a spicy, black bean sauce. It came with a small rice, and I really enjoyed the flavor. I also got the Taiwanese Style Rice Noodles ($12.95), which had been well prepared with quality ingredients. There were a ton of other things I wanted to try on the menu, so making a note of it for next time.

We went to Asian Bistro back in Nov 2023. We met my wife's friend @ Asian Bistro in Arlington Heights. We picked up my buddies wife & 3 kids in Wheeling & took them to Asian Bistro. They arrived from the Philippines on 09/13/23 unfortunately wo/my friend who passed away on 04/09/33 (RIP). Asian Bistro is located in a strip mall on Golf Road near Arlington Heights road. The restaurant has a nice ambiance & the food is pretty good. We ordered several dishes to be shared & eaten family style. * Salt & Pepper Squid w/red peppers, onions & basil * Fish Fillet w/pea pods, shiitake mushrooms & red peppers (good but a little bland) * Beef Chow fun w/ton of noodles & almost no beef. * Szechwan Spicy Shrimp * Szechwan Green Beans

Wonderful service and ambiance. A good place for a large group. Beautiful decor and on top of it all is authentic food. I ordered a couple appetizers and a main course and the food was delicious, authentic, spiced right and wonderfully presented. If you are in the area don't pass on this gem.

Located in a strip mall, I found out about this place through friends. The food was all very decent and they had generous portion sizes. I recommend coming here with a group or it's also nice with your significant other. You'll for sure have leftovers to take home. I found the prices to be very reasonable and standard. Service was great, we were well taken care of. We got our food fast and our drinks were refilled. The food quality was subpar, each dish that we ordered was flavorsome and savory. I would give it a 4. If you get a craving for Chinese food, I recommend you stop by.

Hot pot

Yelp said it was the best Chinese restaurant in the world. Perhaps. We were the only non Chinese in the place. I got the hot pot special. Spam, pig blood cubes pig intestines , stomach and much much more. Spicy but not too spicy. Yum, yum.

501. Six Szechuan Hot Spicy Wonton
Ho T.

I ordered the Szechuan hot and spicy wonton as an appetizer. There were six boiled wontons in there. The wonton wrapper is thin and fragile. Ground pork was used to make the filling; it was flavorful. The rich red, spicy oil sauce covered the wontons. Surprisingly, the sauce wasn't spicy; it was savory and slightly sweet. As a garnish, green onions and sesame seeds were added. I had their beef chow fun as my entree, which is stir-fried noodles with slices of beef, chopped scallions, bean sprouts, and carrots chopped into juliennes. The dish's appearance is unappealing because to its dull brown tone. It would look better if there were additional carrots or scallions added for color. The flavor was bland and inadequately seasoned.

I am finding more amazing small restaurants in strip malls lately. Who knew?! The restaurant was not busy on a Thursday evening which suits me just fine. After being seated, the waitress allowed us to chat and catch up until we were ready to order. I enjoyed every dish we ordered. Here is the breakdown: CHENGDU LIAN MEIN - noodle dish tossed in Szechuan oil sprinkled with sesame seeds served at room temperature. The noodle had a nice bite and it was not too spicy. It was simple but delicious. TOFU HOME STYLE - fried tofu with leeks, bamboo shoot, black mushroom, and pork stir-fried in Szechuan oil. The tofu was a bit tough for my taste from being fried too long. It was good, nevertheless. YU SHUNG EGGPLANT - Chinese eggplant stirred fried with ground pork. The eggplant was cooked to a delicate texture. It was delightful with plain rice or by itself. SZECHUAN STRING BEAN - a very simple green bean dish toss with Szechuan peppercorn. One of my favorite Szechuan dishes. The staff is personable and attentive. There is nothing fancy about this place except good food at a very reasonable price and plenty of parking available since it is in a strip mall. I would recommend it to my family and friends and return when I'm in the neighborhood.

Came in here to get some food before a nail salon appt. The other day, waited 15min then my nail salon called and I asked about my food. Another lady said the food had not been started... so I canceled it and left. Today I came in to try again, this pathetic excuse for a service worker tells me he won't serve me because I had ordered and left from the previous day and that I was "not nice"... WTF? So I got pretty mad. I was waiting and he disappeared and now I had to go to because it was my appointment time. Mofo has the gall to walk away and tell me he's not gonna serve me... the dummy that came back to support a local Asian business... are you kidding me? Do not bother coming to this poop place epitome of the worst in mom n pop shops

Ma po tofu, scallops in garlic sauce, La Tsi Chicken, fried shrimp in flavored bread crumbs, fei teng fish fillet, sliced beef and tripe
E A.

All the dishes had amazing flavors. Beef and tripe in chili sauce was expertly prepared and delicious, one of the milder dishes. Fei teng fish fillet was the crowd pleaser, super fresh and spicy. La tsi chicken with beer should be movie night staple. Salty, spicy, numbing. Ordered online and it was ready as promised. Person at service counter was friendly, courteous and efficient.

Okay hope we can get waited on .

Food is ok. Service is good. Could be better if portions were a little more. It's good enough for Asian food fix.

My wife, her mom, and I were in Chicago to remember my father-in-law's death anniversary, and my sister-in-law chose Chef Ping's, for our party of nine for a Wednesday lunch. Parking is plentiful and the dining area can seat a lot. We got seated at a large round table in the back room, with a large lazy susan (just need to remember to spin it very slowly). We ordered a lot, and the food came out slowly. There was plenty of leftovers for the local folks to have for future meal or two. 3 Shrimp Toast (6 pieces each) - $26.85 - greasy but good, with the shrimp paste being a little sweet (in a good way) Noodle in Black Bean Sauce ($12.50) - this is jja jang myeon, which two of us had the previous night. It was OK, not near the top of the best I've had. Ping's Noodle Soup ($15.50) - the other classic Chinese-Korean dish, this is jjampong, a dish I've had many times. I was the only one to eat it, so ended up being my main dish. It was good, with thick noodles...just wish it had more seafood. Salt & Pepper Smelt ($16.90) - not sure if always available, but this was excellent...my favorite dish and one that I finished once I realized that everybody had their fill. It really depends on the quality of the smelt, which was excellent in this case. It was lightly battered, and carefully deep fried. Other dishes enjoyed by others: 2 Salt & Pepper Prawns - $35.90 - large head-on shell-on prawns fire wokked. Salt & Pepper Tofu ($11.50) - for the vegetarians Chicken Skewers (4) - $8.75 - tender and shareable Walnut Shrimp ($19.90) - mayo with shrimp Young Chow Fried Rice ($12.50) - fried rice is a necessity for our group Mongolian Beef ($17.50) - a classic 2 Sesame Ball (4) - $7 - a great way to finish a meal. 18% tip was automatically added, and service was OK throughout. Our water was kept refilled, and I think hot water was as well. It was a good meal and opportunity to get back together

Both the service and quality of food has gone way down from what they were famous for. The waitress spilled my tea, also dipped her finger in my tea, had no apology or offer to exchange it with a fresh cup. I had to ask her for a fresh cup of tea. Then the other server that brought our entrees spilled my husbands tea and again no offering to getting a fresh cup. We had to ask AGAIN for a fresh cup! While the portions were generous, the quality of all the food has gone way down. The special family recipe of thier shrimp dish Gan Pong is nothing but fried shrimp with dried chili peppers and no flavor. The Hunan spicy beef and chicken appeared to be all globs and sticky because of excessive and over use of corn starch used during the cooking process. This dish didn't have any unique flavor that one would expect. Previously we had experienced a difference in the food, taste and quality and that's what kept us returning. Sadly, after this experience I wouldn't recommend it to anyone or come back! I'd rather stick with Yu's Mandarin than drive to this place! Quality always wins over quantity in my books!

It's been a tough lately since our go to place changed ownership and the quality declined. Hong Kong Restaurant is a small, family owned restaurant in the same strip mall as the Ace Hardware. It's a take out only restaurant, no tables and no seating. The lady is so nice. I called ahead asking how her General Tso's was made with brown sauce or if it was an orange type of sauce. She gave me a good description and mentioning it had some spice to it, but not offensive. It was exactly what my husband wanted. It wasn't overly breaded and the sauce was sweeter, savory with a little heat. He was a happy man. The fried rice had plenty of chicken and cooked well. The portions were huge! I also ordered beef and broccoli Cantonese chow mein. This was delicious! There was so much beef and broccoli, the sauce wasn't salty and went perfect with the chow mein noodles. We ordered egg rolls and crab rangoons too. Both we were good. The wrapper was a little thicker than I prefer, but they were both good. I'm looking forward to trying other dishes on their menu like their egg foo yung. No pics ... hungry teenaged boys dove into the food right away.
