It's nice not having to go to Chinatown for Cantonese food however, my first experience here left much to be desired. I ordered the duck and shrimp wonton noodle. The four pieces of a duck I got only one piece was the meat portion the other three were the bony portion. There was a couple of wontons. They were crispy however it seemed to lack taste, and there was an off note that I couldn't put my finger on. The noodles were great perfectly chewy and cooked perfectly. Service was so so nobody came to refill the water until we ask at the end of the meal. Overall, I definitely have had better and I think I will try other places to get my wonton noodle fix in the future.

Wonton is a surprising, hidden gem of Chinese food. Consistently delicious and filling, the food comes out the kitchen lightning fast (and also molten hot, be patient!!) The barbecued pork over rice is only 10 bucks, with an extra dollar getting you fried rice. Mix that with some of the mustard and the house made chili oil, and you've got a scrumptious meal. Well-priced delicious option for your next meal time!

Since one of my sisters from out-of-state loves the kinds of Chinese food that Wonton Gourmet sells, we go there whenever she and my brother-in-law are in town. So, we have been to Wonton Gourmet many times over the years. Wonton Gourmet is good for groups for a casual gathering. Parking is easy in its own parking lot. The place is spacious, and they can connect a bunch of rectangular tables together to make a long table. Somehow, the place always found us tables when we visited. Food is usually decent and pricing is reasonable. In our last visit, every staff member was friendly except for one middle-age woman. It could be she's having a rough day, or it's just her style of interacting with people. However, a server could really affect the whole experience of the meal. We had ordered fried noodles, Chinese Broccoli and other dishes to share. As usual, we always ordered at least two or more orders of Fried Tofu (with a crispy skin and silky-smooth inside), as they are so good that they are everyone's favorite! Last time, for our individual meals, I ordered a Noodles with Shrimp Wonton & Beef Stew, while my husband ordered a Noodles with Shrimp Wonton and Fish Cakes. He had forgotten that "fish cakes" were processed fish cakes instead of fresh ones. While the bowls of noodles were decent and tasty, the shrimp wonton only had pork inside but no shrimp! Last time, another disappointment was that they didn't have congee. I wish that they actually add congee back to their menu. Even though they have congee on their website menu now, if you click on it, it does not show anything. A Cantonese restaurant like Wonton Gourmet would typically serve "congee, fun, noodles, and rice". Without congee, it's not perfect. I am still grateful that there's a Wonton Gourmet in the suburbs, that would take care of our cravings of Cantonese fun and noodles. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars.

Won ton noodle soup with barbecue pork. Same recipe as in the chinatown now defunct Seven Tresures restaurant. Unfortunately, the service is not the same. I'll explain in a minute. It is a 45 minute on highway from my home to here. But I was yearning for the soup! We weren't seated right away and employees just passed us up. Finally we were able to be seated, and please note it was not busy. Upon seating we waited a while before water or even a menu came to us. Not cool again, as it was not busy. Finally we asked about the soup and how we had been getting it in Chinstown for over 30+ years and so missed the soup. It didn't seem to matter to the waitress as I dont think she cared. The recipe is the exact recipe as this is the cousin of the old chinatown restaurant, (Chinatown owner let us know that he would be sharing his recipe here with his cousin). Again, we order soup and my partner ordered with fish ball dumplings instead of pork as he doesn't consume pork. They said it was fine. Unfortunately when we recieved the soup, his had beef ball dumplings and not fish ball dumplings. When questioned they said "oh we ran out of fish ball dumplings'. That's fine and dandy but don't assume he also eats beef. It was jarring that they didn't really care and I was saddened on this. As Chinatown employees always treated us like family. I still got my soup correct and it was perfection. It took me back to Chinatown and that made me smile. Unfortunately due to this fish ball dumplings situation, I have to drop my scores as I believe honesty and Integrity are key to successful businesse's. Would I come back for the soup? Maybe, as 45 minutes on highway was a lot. But who knows. The ambience is nice as the walls are lined with black and white murals of old Chinatown perhaps? But I don't recognize any of the scenery so it may be China? Give them a try, and asi for the soup!

Ordered UberEATS delivery. Delicious red roasted pork fried rice, tightly packed to the brim & generous with the meat so there's some in every bite. Also tried beef chow fun with Chinese broccoli, wonderful tender beef in favourful gravy but would have preferred the noodles packed separately for delivery to maintain the crispy bits. Authentic Cantonese style Chinese food.

This is our favorite local authentic Chinese restaurant of Chinatown flavors without fighting the Chicago City traffic! This place is a single building with its private parking lot. The place is spacious and they have a glass wall that you can see the chef's making your meal. The decor is very casual. So here are the dishes I ordered often Fried egg rolls, it has peanut butter taste of cabbage, shrimp, and pork love it with their sweet-and-sour sauce. Hot and sour soup size small, it's an actual bowl of soup you can actually have it as a meal or share it with somebody. Shrimp with scrambled egg, jumbo shrimp, and fluffy egg I like it when I put a little bit of soy sauce it comes with a side of white rice. House fried rice combo love their fried rice. It's so flavorful and it has shrimp, pork chicken and it's not greasy. Beef chow fun with chinese broccoli noodles extra crispy, beef is so soft and the Chinese broccoli is fresh steamed. Steam shrimp dumpling with oyster sauce, this is an appetizer I like it has shrimp and wood ear mushroom Shrimp, wonton, and barbecue pork noodle soup this is a big bowl that you can have as a meal or you can share amongst other people. I also like their chicken chow mein and their egg foo yong shrimp. They give you hot tea but you have to ask if you want more they don't give you a tea kettle anymore. And you also have to ask for water as well. People are nice and the food comes out hot. Service is busy so you may have to speak up if you want something or boxes to take home or the check. Bathrooms always seem clean and modern. I may have repeated pictures of my food. It's because I like them that much! I would highly recommend this place if you don't want to take the trip to go into Chinatown.

Always great service and amazing food. Whether it's for dine-in or to-go the quality of food is great. This is a staple in the area, can't go wrong with Wonton Gourmet. It's the only spot to get the 554 special.

If you miss Seven Treasures and want to fill that hole inside (iykyk), Wonton Gourmet definitely gets the job done! Their wonton noodles are the same, if not better. I wish they weren't as far away but still glad to have the option.

We had lunch on a Saturday recently. There were lots of employees and the place was packed however everything was chaotic as each employee didn't seem to have a specific role. One employee was hostess, waiting tables, doing carry out, etc. We weren't greeted by anyone and the old lady that was up front at the time chose to seat another party even though we were there first. Our server forgot an entree and didn't bring it until we were pretty much done eating. She never came back after taking our order and dropping off food. This place seems to have gone down hill. We will probably not be back and would rather take a drive to Chinatown or other local Chinese restaurants.

I've been to Wonton Gourmet many times, and the quality has been consistently good. The food is always delicious, never disappointing The prices are very reasonable for the big portion and quality, which makes it an easy place to come back again and again. Service is okay, friendly and polite. It's usually pretty busy whenever I come, which says a lot about how popular this place is. Overall, a solid and reliable spot for great Chinese food. Would definitely recommend this great casual Chinese dining option for you guys!!!

I was so sad when 7 treasures closed and then we were informed this place is a sisters company and serves the same menu! Gave it a try and was impressed! Price is reasonable. And the workers were very nice. It's a lot bigger inside than I thought. They also have a parking lot which makes parking very easy. We ordered food to go and felt like it came out at a reasonable time. Definitely want to come back and dine in next! Definitely recommend for authentic Chinese food! Can't go wrong with their 554! If you know, you know!!

BRAISED NOODLES W/ BBQ PORK & BOK CHOY
    Nancy T.

Ordered for delivery. The pricing and menu variation was appealing. I wanted comfort chinese food that wasn't your usual Chinese fast food. Wonton gourmet had the bbq pork with option as a rice plate or over braised noodles. I ordered on the braised noodles with bok choy. It was delicious. We also ordered the braised chicken often referred to as (ha nam chicken, salted chicken, or steamed ginger chicken) not many restaurants offer this dish. The portion was hearty, but a little on the salty side. The rice helped balance it; but not enough. Hot and sour soup was as ok, more on the tangy side but it was still thick and hearty. The crab rangoon - you get 4, BUT THEY ARE BIG! They are delicious and packed with filling. No skimping at all! Priced very reasonably, only negative feedback is there was no napkins or utensils provided with our Togo order. We had to get creative eating... and drank our soup from a cup.

Wonton & stewed beef noodle soup

For a place called Wonton Gourmet, sadly one of the most disappointing aspects of our dishes were the wonton dumplings. We ordered 3 bowls of noodle soup and the proteins (including the wontons) were smallish & scant (in comparison to many other Chinese restaurants we've dined at. The beef stew had only 2 small pieces of beef and about 3 pieces of tendon. Wontons were about 2/3 size of most places. No bok choy or other veggies, and broth was a tad salty. The dry fried beef rice noodle was very good. Service was pedestrian. Ambiance was tall ceiling modern. 4 dishes came to just under $60 so value for quality & quantity wasn't there.

The…read morerestaurant was dingy and disgusting; I have literally never been in a restaurant where the condition of the place itself made the food so unappetizing. I was picking up for my partner and wasn't eating the food myself; I don't know that I would have actually been able to eat anything from here. And when I asked about how the food was, I was told it was edible but not a place we needed to go again. When I placed the order I was told it would take 15 minutes. I got there 25 minutes after my order was placed, and I still had to wait. This was particularly annoying because I ordered it before leaving Glenview to head home specifically because we had an appointment that evening and time was short. There was one person in the restaurant when I got there and I don't know if they were a customer; they left as I was walking in--so it wasn't like it was a popular night. The price was laughably high. One of the dishes I considered was like $5 more than the comparable one at my fave Chinese place in Ravenswood. Truly, how is this place still open between the ridiculous prices and the yucky restaurant.
