I have been to Kale My Name twice, and while I've wanted to love them, I have largely found the food underwhelming. On our most recent visit, I ordered the Combo Toasts ($19) for brunch. There are no menus distributed, so you have to scan and navigate their website on your own. It doesn't immediately take you to the brunch menu, so you have to look for it. My toasts were fine, nothing remarkable. My husband ordered the Breakfast Burrito ($19). Texture-wise, the burrito ended up being too wet - maybe from the kale? The rosemary potatoes it comes with were delicious though. All told, it's a bit pricey for the quality of the food. read more

This review is specifically for the tea party Kale My Name offers. I made a reservation on open table for a tea party for 10 and confirmed on open table the day before we were set to go. When we arrived, it was very clear that the server did not know we were coming. This is absolutely not a criticism of the server at all, he did a great job with us while also being the only server in the whole place. But having worked in restaurants, when larger parties are coming in it is customary to give the people scheduled to work a head's up and it seems like that did not happen. So there was a quite a bit of a delay in getting everything set up, the tea ready, the snacks prepared, and our (included) additional drinks made. That said, that's the main reason I dropped a star. For 35/pp this is a pretty cute little way to start your day. I think the price is reflective of the quality; this isn't a fancy hotel tea service that can cost 150+ per person, but the food was delicious, there was plenty of it, we had unlimited tea, and the included additional drink (smoothie, cocktail, mimosa, etc) was a nice touch. Also, the tea sets we used were ADORABLE. I'm pretty sure they had all of us rushing out to go buy our own lol. read more

Everything's great except the fact that they don't serve lettuce. I won't go back until they bring in lettuce. It's unsatisfying to eat a veggie burger with raw kale instead of lettuce. I don't understand why they won't serve lettuce when lettuce is just as vegan as kale is. read more

I've ordered from here and eaten inside and their food is just glorious. Everything is vegan, and they do not skimp on the sides. I got the jackfruit wrap (which they can also do in taco form) with the default side of fries and it was delicious and super filling. Their service is excellent - they came over frequently to make sure everything is ok, food didnt take long I highly, highly recommend getting a slice of the monthly cake they get from pie pie my darling. It's always amazing and despite it being expensive, it's gonna rock your world and be worth every penny. I got one to go since I didn't have room for it and ate it later. Regrets? Zero! read more

This was my second visit, parking was available both times though we got lucky this time. I'm not from Chicago but I've been surprised how quiet this area has been both times. Food was excellent. I got the Italian seitan wrap with fries and garlic kale. The wrap was delicious. Good flavor, satisfying mouth feel. The fries are pretty solid. Located on the north side, I came here to celebrate my 30th birthday with a high tea celebration! It was a great experience. Even though there were a couple of snafus with the reservation, they still accommodated my party and allowed us to do the tea package. The tea was good, and since all the rest of my party are meat eaters, they were still able to enjoy some of the vegan foods. Everyone loved the avocado toast. I even got to meet the owner, who happened to be wearing purple, and he made sure I got a picture with him before we left. The service was a little slow, and we had to remind our waiter that we wanted to add additional food outside of the tea package. Street parking was available, which was great and didn't take long for me to park. The tea package comes with tea, an additional complementary beverage of your choice (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), avocado toast, red roasted pepper hummus, and a sweet Nutella strawberry banana toast. Kevin was amazing. He was attentive, gave great suggestions, and very friendly. We heard about this place through raving reviews and it did not disappoint. The impossible nachos portion size was outrageous but wow! Melted in your mouth with such great flavor. The buffalo tofu wrap with gluten free tortilla was perfect. Great flavor all around. We paired that with the Greek fries. They were a little over cooked but it was my first time having vegan feta and it is better than dairy feta in my opinion. The spice Bloody Mary also very good. Overall, great experience. The only thing I will give a heads up to is the restaurant is a bit hot and muggy. kale my name is such a find. I went there a couple weeks ago with a friend and I loved it. I love that these types of restaurants exist outside of the usual neighborhoods. Kale My Name is Albany Park but it could easily exists closer to downtown. It feels like a destination and it doesn't disappoint. My only problem is that I couldn't eat everything on the menu. The place has a great vibe, good music playing and food was super delicious. I got the cauliflower appetizer and I cldn't stop eating them. My got the tumeric soup. It was hot and steaming and full of creamy goodness. He also got the oyster mushroom wrap and it was like a movie Gone in 60 seconds! I got the kale taco salad and my only complaint is that it was too big. I cldn't finish it. But I smashed it for dinner later that evening. we went on a Saturday afternoon but I bet it gets bumpin here at night.
