Like last time, the chips and gauc were terrific, but there was one update from my previous review. The chips have amazing crunch and taste fresh. The Chilaquiles were fantastic, as I expected, but the beans were a delight. I also added on the steak which with the egg, chip, and steak one couldn't ask for a better bite. My wife had the poblano and cheese tamale and was equally pleased. So if you are on your way to six flags stop in for some great food. I hope we will be in the area again soon to eat here. read more

Amazing Mexican food in Gurnee! Worth taking the easy exit for. We went for lunch and loved each dish as much as the first. We had empanadas, tostadas, quesadillas, a plantain sandwich, and two delicious desserts. I would get all of them again. Nice crunch and not greasy. Plated beautifully. Fresh, fantastic, and overall incredible experience! For a small business, this hit all cylinders from when I entered the relatively small eatery to when I got to sit down and enjoy my meals. I cannot recall the last time I looked forward to returning and trying out another dish of theirs! So where to begin? From the start, since I stepped into the small establishment, I was greeted at the door by, lo and behold, the owner and cook of the eatery. So excellent service right out of the gate! Being patient and helpful in explaining the menu, I explored all my options and settled with trying two meals; The Breakfast Skillet with Steak and the Chicken with Mushrooms Enchiladas topped by their Spicy Angry Salsa! Breaking down the two dishes I enjoyed, the breakfast skillet was tremendous and filling for what it was, and each component aided with what I deemed delicious. The meal consisted of Eggs, Steak, Peppers, Onions, Tomatoes, Rice, Beans, and Corn! Scrumptious, but that falls in comparison to what will bring me back. Their Enchiladas were beyond extraordinary! Not only did their spicy sauce nearly bring a flair and challenge to indulge, but from the tasty seasoning from the chicken to the tang and delicious cheese, I devoured my plate close to Cookie Monster, destroying a container filled with cookies! Jokes aside, that meal was one of the best I've enjoyed, and it was accompanied by more rice and beans; so filling, and I got my money's worth. Overall, superb service, remarkable, memorable foods, and a terrific experience. I will no doubt return once more. Seriously, the best Mexican food I've ever had! The chips were homemade and fresh..so tasty. Had two Salsa's one fairly mild and the other on the Wild side. Also had the Barbacoa Tacos...awesome and all the ingredients tasted so fresh!. Will definitely be back and can't recommend this place more. FYI they have a wide selection of Vegan food as well. Although, it was tasty, it definitely wasn't worth the price. At all. My husband got the vegan burrito. Stated it was just okay. I ordered a steak taco which was just okay. The Asada Fries were really good. And I also got the pozole and added portk. Umm... it was not okay. I've never had pozole that tasted like this. And I've had a lot of pozole. Like. It's my fave. Great vegan-Mexican restaurant! My sister-in-law brought my brother and me (both vegetarians) here for lunch. Very friendly, counter-service type place with and an incredible, varied vegan menu. Brother picked the Jibarito, an eggplant sandwich using plantains instead of bread. I had a taco plate with an eggplant taco, a poblano taco and a cactus taco. We also had empanadas for appetizers. Everything was fresh, tasty and vegan. The owners are very nice, and attentive to the their customers' needs. This is a great spot for vegetarians. We'll be back! read more

We were greeted warmly upon arrival and our server turned out to be the owner so she was super helpful in explaining things since it was our first visit. We ordered the guacamole and chips because they said both were made upon our order. The guac was well seasoned and the chips were amazing, so amazing I ordered a bag to go (honestly, the chips were life-changing). We also ordered an elote and it could have used a bit more spicier but the corn was fresh. I ordered a chicken empanada and my daughter ordered the chicken flauta dinner. If we had more self-control we would have taken photos but it looked & smelled delicious and we dove right in and didn't talk again until we had worked our way through the majority of the meal. The salsas were made in-house and were green, red and a 'hot' one upon request. I liked the green, my daughter liked the smokier medium salsa, neither were spicy but had lots of flavor. The empanada dough was flaky and the chicken was tender and flavorful. The flauta dinner came with rice, beans, corn, homemade salsa and 1/2 a fresh avocado. It was enough for two meals. We also had a tamarind aqua fresca that wasn't overly sweet and was refreshing. We decided to go for broke and ordered a churro cheesecake dessert, I am not a huge fan of cheesecAke but my daughter really enjoyed it. They are a vegan restaurant but don't let that deter you, they have all the regular meats you would expect. This place was small, clean and the food was scrumptious. The restaurant sits unobtrusively in a strip mall with Great America looming in the foreground. I highly encourage you to visit Momcorn the next time you're in Gurnee. I have been to many, many Mexican restaurants and this landed easily in the top tier. Definitely a place I will visit again. read more

i dont know how i stumbled upon this gem but i did and though i do eat meat, i try to eat more vegan. My sister is a good vegetarian, so she usually chooses vegan options. We went to Momcorn over the last weekend and we were both VERY happy. The menu is awesome and the food was DELICIOUS. i got a vegan chimichanga with rice beans and a side of guac. i usually dont like salsas but that green salsa was so good! Everything was delicious! Ty sister had the vegan tacos and she really enjoyed them as well as the chips and salsa. The rice and beans were seasoned so good, i couldve eaten just the rice and beans and been happy. They also had peach crush which ive never seen before and was delicious. we will definitely going back and i will see about the catering for my birthday party. 20/10 and the service was great as well. We stopped in this evening and the food was as delicious as I remember it and the staff was so pleasant and kind I am a vegetarian so I naturally love that they have several options for all types of diets. I came to this restaurant for curbside pick-up. I looked at the delicious foods in the menu for a couple of weeks and finally decided to come in. The vegan breakfast burrito is fantastic. It tasted just as good or better than a meat breakfast sandwich. The burrito had just the right amount of spices with cilantro, bell peppers, and finely chopped onions. The customers have a choice to add fresh sliced avocados, extra vegan sour cream, guacamole and other items. The meal was hearty and filling. The Mexican coffee was just as delicious, with a rich flavor. I added some of my vegan creamer to it at home to add to the delicious flavor. I am eager to go back to try some of the other tasty items on the menu, such as the fried plantain sandwich and fish empanada. read more

I came across Momcorn a few months ago when I was looking for a new place with vegan options that were easy to choose from. I should also add that I am a SUCKER for family owned restaurants with veg options, so this place was right up my alley. I have now been here twice and am absolutely in LOVE with this place!! The first time I was here, I did their taco trio, and the waitress was awesome enough to allow me to try one of each of the tacos (the cactus - nopales - was definitely my favorite!). When my friend was in town from out of state this past weekend, we made a special trip here for lunch, just so she could scope out Momcorn - it's that amazing! This time around, I had the nopales fajitas and she had the fish tacos. Portions are great as well, so expect to take home a doggy bag! I placed an online order for pickup on Monday, 04/29, eagerly anticipating satisfying my pregnancy cravings with some elote and their chilaquiles torta. However, to my dismay, when I arrived at 12:58 pm, I found the establishment closed despite it saying that they open at 12. The door was locked, blinds were down and lights were off. I searched for a signed that may have indicated that they were on break or maybe opening later, but nothing. I called the restaurant and was forwarded to voicemail. I waited a few minutes to see if they would open but they never did. I left assuming that I wouldn't be charged as they were clearly closed, but I was wrong. Despite multiple attempts to contact them for a refund, my calls went unanswered, leaving me feeling frustrated and disappointed. Currently having to go through hoops just to get a refund. So disappointed. I had been eagerly anticipating trying their food, only to have a terrible first experience.
